Many types of bets can be placed in roulette.  Let's start by explaining the simple bets: Red/Black.  It is played with 18 numbers.  To place a bet, place the chip in the space with the red diamond to bet on the red numbers...

can bet on the first and second columns or on the second and third columns. Straight up: Bet on 1 number.  To place a bet, the chip is placed in the space of the number.
Example.  The green chip that has just been placed is a bet on the number 15. Horse: You play on 2 numbers.  To place a bet, the chip is placed on the line that separates two numbers. You can bet on two adjacent numbers on the table, either vertically or horizontally.
Example.  The first pink chip is a bet on numbers 20 and 21 and the second pink chip is a bet on numbers 21 and 24. Transversal: 3 numbers are played.  To place the bet, the chip is placed on the vertical line that separates the row of 3 numbers from the space for the dozen bet.
