[0:00] Picking a main at the start of a new [0:01] expansion can always be very stressful. [0:03] You're looking at almost 40 different [0:04] specs wondering, are they going to be [0:06] fun long term? Will they actually be [0:08] good in raids, PvP, or Mythic Plus? [0:10] Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, to [0:12] the channel. My name is Sky, and today's [0:13] video we're going to be breaking down [0:14] the safest classes to main [music] [0:16] overall in Midnight World of Warcraft. [0:18] Most of us have lives now. We don't have [0:21] 3 or 4 hours to play every single day. [0:23] We're looking at something that's [0:24] reliable, versatile, and still fun [0:26] months down the line from now. Also, [0:29] don't forget to stick around until the [0:30] end of the video to see how you can earn [0:31] a free epic edition of World of Warcraft [0:33] Midnight from the Comeback Kids. [0:36] Starting off first, you can't have a [0:37] safe classes to main list without druid [0:39] because it covers basically every role [0:41] and play style the game can offer. Melee [0:44] and range DPS, a healer, and a tank. Not [0:47] only that, all four specs are in a [0:49] really healthy spot heading into [0:51] Midnight right now. So, things are [0:52] looking great for Druid. Where a lot of [0:54] classes got simplified to the point of [0:56] feeling way too stripped down, Druid [0:58] feels like a very smart pruning and an [1:00] improvement rather than a downgrade. [1:02] They trimmed out bloat, reduced [1:04] maintenance on specs like feral and [1:06] balance, and made each spec more [1:08] intuitive without gutting all of their [1:10] identity. Another reason I love druid as [1:12] a class is because they bring universal [1:14] value to any group regardless of the [1:16] spec. You have a battle resurrection. [1:18] You bring strong off healing roots and [1:21] knockbacks as well as your own group [1:22] buff with Mark of the Wild. There's no [1:24] situation where you won't want a druid [1:27] in your group, which will make them [1:28] highly valuable and sought after when [1:30] you're looking for parties. [1:31] Gameplay-wise, druid gives you four very [1:34] different identities. Feral is the fast, [1:36] aggressive melee DPS that revolves [1:38] around bleeds and finishers. In [1:40] Midnight, they removed a ton of clunk [1:41] and snapshotting, speeding up combo [1:43] point generation and giving them better [1:45] cleave tools, so it feels more fluid and [1:48] less punishing. For balance, you're [1:50] still that mobile caster with incredible [1:52] AoE damage. They made Eclipse now a [1:54] button that you pressed, which instantly [1:56] gets all of your damage rolling. The [1:58] rotation is still clean, and you have an [2:00] updated rotational identity trying to [2:03] stay in Eclipse as long as you can. For [2:05] Guardian, you're a very sturdy, low [2:07] stress tank that has great self- sustain [2:09] that just refuses to die. They have [2:11] streamlined talents, improved berserk [2:13] integration, and more reliable [2:15] mitigation, making it easier to live and [2:17] easier to play overall. For restoration, [2:19] you're still that mobile sustain healer [2:21] with a simple kit that just works. They [2:23] remove minor maintenance spells and [2:25] leaned more into that true heal overtime [2:28] effect value, making Resto more [2:30] straightforward and consistent in group [2:31] content. The Druid's Toolkit is probably [2:33] the biggest safety net in this video. [2:36] You can fill any role in the game. You [2:37] have a wide variety of gameplay styles [2:39] that will always keep things fresh. You [2:42] always have a spot in any group content [2:44] because your group buff and battle [2:45] resurrection is invaluable. And you can [2:47] pivot between all of this without a [2:49] class and starting over. If your goal is [2:52] to pick a class that will always be [2:54] wanted, always have a job, and let you [2:56] swap play styles without abandoning your [2:58] main, druid is one of, if not the safest [3:01] class you can pick in all of World of [3:03] Warcraft. Moving on, next we have the [3:06] death knight. This is another extremely [3:08] safe class to main in Midnight because [3:10] you get two great melee DPS play styles [3:12] with all three specs trending in a nice [3:14] direction. In particular, what people [3:16] are loving about Death Knight is that [3:17] Frost's DK got pretty much an overhaul [3:19] at the end of the War Within in the [3:20] final season and Unholy Death Knight got [3:22] a complete rework top to bottom. So, if [3:24] you were an investor stock into anybody [3:27] right now, Death Knight is looking very, [3:29] very fresh and exciting. The slow, [3:32] heavyhitting juggernaut identity is [3:34] back, but with smoother rotations, way [3:36] thematic build design, and less [3:38] pointless setup than ever before. When [3:40] it comes to group utility and social [3:42] value, death knight has always held its [3:44] own. You have death grip to group up [3:46] range mobs and mythic plus or raids, [3:48] anti-magic zone, probably the best [3:50] durability and self-sustain for any [3:52] class in the game, very solid crowd [3:55] control for groups, and a battle [3:56] resurrection if need be. They may not [3:58] have a dozen buttons of supports like [4:01] shamans or paladins, but they definitely [4:03] still offer great tools for groups that [4:04] you would want for anybody out there. [4:06] When it comes to gameplay diversity, [4:07] it's probably better than it's ever been [4:09] for Death Knight. Unholy got a massive [4:11] overhaul, and is arguably one of the [4:13] most improved specs in Midnight. They've [4:15] removed festering wounds, reworked AoE, [4:17] so it's not locked behind death and [4:19] decay, and they leaned fully into that [4:21] platewearing necromancer fantasy. You're [4:24] summoning ghouls, skeletal mages, and [4:26] the gameplay loop is cleaner, more [4:28] thematic, and way more fun. Frost didn't [4:31] get a redesign or update because they [4:32] already got one in the massive rework in [4:35] 11.2. The spec absolutely dominated at [4:37] the end of the war within due to this [4:39] overhaul in mythic plus and is probably [4:41] the most fun I've ever had playing Frost [4:43] Death Knight. The rework has done [4:45] wonders and the stock on Frost is very [4:47] very high right now. Even Blood Death [4:49] Knight saw some updates. They [4:50] streamlined some of their survivability [4:52] tools and made them less spiky in terms [4:54] of damage taken. They cleaned up the [4:56] button bloat problem and of course their [4:58] self-healing and uptime has been [4:59] increased as well. Blood Death Knight is [5:01] still incredible for pickup groups and [5:03] lower keys and even now higher keys, [5:05] even though it's not technically always [5:07] meta. You got to know, ladies and [5:08] gentlemen, death knight is safe because [5:10] you get two DPS specs that have been [5:11] completely overhauled the last 6 months, [5:14] and a solid and hopeful tanking spec [5:16] heading into the new expansion. If you [5:18] want a class that embodies the, you [5:20] know, unstoppable juggernaut fantasy, [5:22] they bring valuable group tools and [5:24] gives you multiple ways to play without [5:26] losing an identity. Death Knight is a [5:28] fantastic and safe pick heading into [5:31] Midnight. Next up, we do have to talk [5:33] about the Paladin. And this is another [5:35] incredibly safe class you can main [5:36] heading into this new expansion. As a [5:38] Paladin, you get access to all three [5:40] major roles, being tank, healer, and [5:43] DPS. I will say openly, I think holy and [5:45] retribution paladin are trending in a [5:47] very good direction right now. But it is [5:49] important to know that protection [5:50] paladin can use some work. Nevertheless [5:52] though, if you're looking for a class [5:54] that can heal, tank, and deal damage all [5:56] under the same roof, Paladin is a great [5:58] choice. Paladin also brings, of course, [6:00] some of the strongest universal support [6:02] tools in the game. You've got all their [6:03] blessings, lay on hands, strong off [6:06] healing, crowd control defensives, a [6:08] battle resurrection, and in a lot of [6:09] cases, you have literal wipe saving [6:12] buttons that instantly can stabilize a [6:14] party or raid if you actually consider [6:17] that as value. Paladin's tools are [6:19] extremely high impact when used [6:22] properly, which always makes them very [6:24] desirable to have in mythic plus or [6:26] raids. If a healer pulls threat, you use [6:28] blessing of protection on them. If your [6:30] tank gets rooted, you blessing of [6:31] freedom them. You need to heal yourself [6:33] to stay alive, you can lay on hands or [6:35] word of glory. There's always going to [6:37] be a moment when you press a button and [6:38] everyone in the party just thanks you [6:40] for it. Gameplay-wise, Paladin gives you [6:42] three very distinct identities that all [6:45] feel solid right now. Protection is [6:47] still that tank with solid sustain and I [6:49] think the spec is finally getting some [6:51] quality of life updates. Mastery no [6:53] longer forces you to stand in your [6:55] consecrate. Hammer of wrath got [6:56] reworked. Word of glory is more [6:58] forgiving with mana. And I would say [7:00] from a raw gameplay perspective, [7:02] protection paladin feels a bit cleaner. [7:04] They just need to fix their ability to [7:06] have more onuse defensives and this can [7:08] be a very strong tanking spec. [7:09] Retribution continues to lean into that [7:11] fast explosive style. Executioner [7:13] sentence got redesigned. Hammer of Wrath [7:15] isn't a separate button anymore, and [7:17] Crusade saw some updates to make it more [7:19] consistent. The result is a spec that [7:21] absolutely still slams during its [7:23] cooldown windows, but with less awkward [7:25] maintenance and a more straightforward [7:26] gameplay loop, if you can believe that [7:28] for Retribution Paladin. Holy Paladin [7:31] probably saw the biggest cleanup for all [7:33] of Paladin specs. Light of Dawn no [7:35] longer is just stuck to five players in [7:37] front of you. Now it hits everyone [7:39] around you in a 40 radius, which is [7:41] awesome. Holy Shock and Judgment have [7:43] shorter cooldowns. Divine Toll and Prism [7:45] are now a choice node. Talents got [7:47] reworked and adjusted to be very very [7:49] good. And there are no longer [7:51] overbearing amounts of proced creating a [7:52] weird like passive miniame in your [7:54] rotation. This is probably the most [7:56] beginnerfriendly version of Holy we've [7:58] seen in a while. And I've been really [8:00] enjoying playing it with me and my [8:02] buddies on the midnight beta so far. The [8:04] big reason Paladin is safe is because it [8:06] checks every box you care about when [8:08] you're choosing a long-term main. Three [8:10] viable roles, three very different [8:13] gameplay styles, tons of high impact [8:15] group tools, and enough redesign work [8:17] here that all three specs feel fresh [8:19] without looking unrecognizable. If [8:22] you're looking for a class that [8:23] guarantees you a spot, gives you [8:24] powerful group tools, and lets you swap [8:26] role-play styles without ever switching [8:28] a main, paladin is one of the most safe [8:30] and reliable picks you can make in the [8:33] new expansion. Next up, we do have to [8:35] talk about the demon hunter. And just [8:36] like the others on this list, it's [8:38] extremely safe pick going into Midnight [8:40] because it offers two very distinct and [8:43] highly functional roles with, of course, [8:46] the new spec on the block being the [8:47] Devour Demon Hunter. What people are [8:50] really responding to well with Demon [8:51] Hunter right now is that the class did [8:53] not lose its identity at Midnight. It [8:55] just became simpler, faster, and less [8:58] punishing. Demon Hunter is one of the [9:00] most plug-andplay classes in the game. [9:02] And when it comes to group content, you [9:03] bring Chaos Brand, which is that nice [9:05] magic damage debuff, strong AoE stops [9:08] and interrupts, very consistent sustain [9:10] for yourself, and brand new new and [9:12] improved survivability tools, high [9:14] mobility to dodge mechanics. Listen, [9:16] even if Demon Hunter isn't the number [9:17] one tank or DPS at a given moment, Chaos [9:20] Brand alone guarantees that many raid [9:23] groups will at least want one Demon [9:25] Hunter because it directly increases [9:27] everyone else's damage. When it comes to [9:29] gameplay diversity, I think Havoc [9:31] continues to be that accessible [9:33] explosive dash around the area spec. [9:36] They removed a bunch of bloated talents, [9:38] merged defensive buttons, and simplified [9:40] fury generation. Not only that, they're [9:42] probably have one of the best Apex [9:43] talent designs in the game, which I [9:45] really, really love right now. Vengeance [9:48] also saw some pretty major changes to [9:50] push it away from being the, you know, [9:52] ramp to survive play style it had [9:54] before. Defensives no longer spike based [9:57] on uptime. Spirit bomb has a reliable [9:59] cooldown and survivability is much less [10:01] volatile. I would say overall they are [10:04] still that highly mobile, consistent and [10:06] easy to pilot pickup tank. And then [10:08] lastly, you have the devourer who's all [10:10] about big setups getting into [10:12] metamorphosis to release some nuclear [10:14] damage upon your enemies. You have [10:16] collapsing stars and void-based magic. [10:19] You're highly mobile and this is going [10:20] to be a very interesting spec coming [10:22] into World of Warcraft and I think we're [10:24] all excited to see what this bad boy can [10:26] do. Demon Hunter is safe because it's [10:28] one of the cleanest, most reliable [10:30] toolkits in the game. And all three [10:31] specs are trending in a very good [10:34] direction. You have good self- sustain, [10:36] so solo content is easy, you have Chaos [10:38] Brand for group content with two [10:39] different role types. If you're looking [10:41] to flex for your group, if you want a [10:43] class that feels good to play, always [10:45] has a spot because of that debuff and [10:47] gives you two fun play styles that isn't [10:48] going anywhere, demon hunter is one of [10:50] the safest picks in Midnight. And [10:52] lastly, we have the Shaman. And this is [10:55] going to be another extremely safe class [10:58] you can main going into a new expansion [11:00] and is personally going to be my main [11:02] heading into Midnight. Across the board, [11:05] all three specs receive very meaningful [11:07] updates that trimmed a lot of bloat, [11:09] reduced randomness, and smoothed out a [11:11] lot of their rotations without erasing [11:12] their core identity. If there are any [11:14] class specs in the game that got the [11:16] best tuning, hands down, elemental and [11:18] enhancement are amongst the best of the [11:21] best. They both saw a ton of cleanup [11:23] that makes them feel more consistent and [11:25] makes them substantially more fun in my [11:27] opinion. If you're the type of player [11:29] who loves having different flavors of [11:30] gameplay without r-rolling, Shaman could [11:32] be a strong pick. You got to know that [11:34] Shaman is one of, if not the best group [11:37] support class in the entire game, and [11:40] that alone makes them very safe to [11:42] invest in. You bring blood lust, your [11:44] new raid buff, strong off healing, [11:46] consistent interrupts, and crowd control [11:48] with your totems and knockups. the [11:50] shortest cooldown kick in the game and [11:52] the whole suite of totems that can [11:54] stabilize poles and boost your party's [11:57] survivability. Shaman's utility is very [12:00] high impact and you can instantly turn a [12:02] bad pole into a recovered one with a [12:04] press of a couple buttons. As a shaman, [12:07] you always feel like you have tools to [12:09] help your group succeed and groups love [12:11] having you because when things go wrong, [12:13] you can actually fix it. Gameplaywise, [12:16] Shaman gives you three very distinct [12:18] identities that all feel very refreshed [12:20] going into Midnight. Elemental, you're [12:22] still that range nuker that alternates [12:24] between single target and cleave, but [12:26] Blizzard removed a ton of random procs [12:28] and fishing mechanics and made the [12:29] rotation much more predictable and [12:31] reliable. I'm loving the new iterations [12:34] and updates to flame shock and the AoE [12:36] lava burst. Ascendants and storm keeper [12:38] aren't the entire spec anymore. And [12:40] while that lowers peak burst a bit, it [12:42] makes elemental way more consistent and [12:45] streamlined than ever before. [12:47] Enhancement remains that fast toemic [12:49] melee brawler, but with infinitely [12:52] better flow than before. Feral spirits [12:54] became passive, and it's tied to a [12:56] couple of your abilities like sundering [12:57] and doom winds. They have tons of [12:59] rotational effects that got merged and [13:01] simplified, and I personally think it is [13:03] the best enhancement has felt in the [13:05] last three expansions. There is one spec [13:08] for shaman that could use a little bit [13:10] of help and I do think it's a [13:12] restoration. Healing tide and ascendants [13:14] are a choice node and they probably got [13:16] pruned a little too much out of most the [13:18] healers. I will say personally I'm [13:20] liking the direction they're heading [13:22] with restoration shaman but they still [13:24] need another major cooldown and some [13:26] additional helps to be able to get [13:27] through those healing checks solo [13:29] because right now they can use it. The [13:31] reason I would say Shaman is such a safe [13:33] bet is because he gives you three very [13:34] different play styles, high impact group [13:37] tools, and one of the strongest support [13:39] identities in the game, all without [13:41] being mechanically overwhelming. Now, [13:43] whether you want to throw lightning, [13:45] swing axes, or keep a raid together with [13:47] healing, you're always going to be [13:48] contributing towards something [13:49] meaningful and everything is trending [13:51] healthy into Midnight for Shaman. If you [13:53] want a class that's fun to play, brings [13:55] value, and gives you multiple ways to [13:56] engage with endgame content. Shaman is [13:58] one of the most reliable and flexible [14:00] long-term investments you can make in [14:02] Midnight.
