## Transcript

Happy Wednesday everybody, Max here with your fix of gaming news. Coming up, Rockstar reveals the kind of field research that went into making Grand Theft Auto 6, The Witcher 3 Remastered can be unlocked for free on Switch 2 by borrowing a physical copy from a friend,
even if you don't own it digitally, and Capcom chimes in on what happens when they run out of old Resident Evil games to remake. Let's get into it.
It is no secret or surprise that a lot of research goes into constructing Rockstar's massive intricate open world games, but in order to get GTA 6's setting to feel authentically like its real world counterpart of Florida, the developers really did their homework. Speaking
to Game Informer Senior Vice President of Narrative Rupert Humphries revealed a bit about what kind of field research the team did, saying, quote, we go and try to experience everything from riding around areas at night with ex-cops to going to strip clubs and nightclubs,
spending time on the beach, in the Everglades, down in the Keys, and beyond. This is not the first time Rockstar has made a game set in a fictionalized version of Florida, but it is the first one they've done there in present day. The last one is Vice City Stories, originally released in
2006 for the PSP, which took place in the mid-1980s. And while there are still plenty of neon lights and pastels and Art Deco architecture in the new game the previous GTAs set in Vice City were more like low caricatures of Hollywood depiction of Miami whereas GTA 6 is a much more realistic portrayal of the area in present day so it good to hear
the developers are basing it on their own first-hand experience rather than just stuff they googled. You know, we hear a lot about the downsides of game development, and that's not to say that GTA 6 was easy to make, but this part sounds pretty fun. Also, it's worth pointing out
that strip clubs are by no means new for Grand Theft Auto, but based on some of the leaked footage that showed up online earlier this year, Rockstar is not shying away from full frontal nudity, male or female, so brace yourselves.
Hey, if you're looking for a big, huge, gorgeous open world game with plenty of full frontal nudity that you can play right now, there's always the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Remastered, which released yesterday as a free update for people who already own the game. And in some cases, friends of people
who already own the game as well. Switch 2 owners figured out that physical cartridges for The Witcher 3 on Switch can be used an unlimited number of times to grant a digital copy of The Witcher 3 Remastered, so renting or borrowing a copy of the game will unlock unlimited access to the digital version.
Once it's unlocked, the physical version is no longer required to play the digital version of the remaster. Bear in mind, this only works on Switch 2, since the remaster isn't available on Switch 1. There no telling on if CD Projekt Red plans to patch this out but it seems kind of unlikely given the studio track record for generosity The remaster is a free upgrade for anybody who owns the game and that already an incredibly nice thing to do when that would easily sell a few million more copies as a full release as demonstrated
by Skyrim and GTA 5 a couple times over when they kept re-releasing the same game. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt had already sold 65 million copies prior to the announcement of this next-gen update, so CDPR isn't hurting. Plus, the more people who have access to the game, the better the sales will be
for the upcoming DLC expansion, Songs of the Past, when that drops next year. Speaking of remakes and remasters, Capcom's modern do-overs of classic Resident Evil games have been some of the best of the best, but what happens when they run out of them?
In a special magazine published in Japan to commemorate the franchise's 30th anniversary, Capcom veteran and longtime executive producer for the series, Jun Takeuchi, discussed the matter, saying, quote, The current Resident Evil series is being developed along two tracks.
Someday, the remake series will catch up with the era of the numbered titles, and we are already thinking about what we will do when that happens. He continued, In fact, we've been gradually preparing for that since around Resident Evil Village. The appearance of names such as Umbrella and Spencer,
as well as the return of Raccoon City and Requiem, are also in preparation for a crossover. At first, we included these elements with the sense that they were fan service, but users were far more delighted by them than we had imagined and they even began analyzing the thoughts that the development team had privately kept to itself So as a series we decided to respond to users expectations and push this setup further in Village and Requiem
The Code Veronica remake, simply titled Resident Evil Veronica, is slated for sometime next year, and there are rumors that overhauls of Zero and RE1 are also in the works, which just leaves 5 and 6, which both have their own sets of challenges,
but regardless, it'll be fun to see how Capcom tackles it and how they tie it all together. One thing is for sure, though, Resident Evil hype is not dying down. Requiem is one of, if not the best-selling game of the year so far, and the success of Zack Craigor's movie, regardless of how you feel about it,
got people so excited that Resident Evil Remake 2 sales jumped more than 50% since the movie came out. That's a very good game, and it's good to see more people are playing it. Anyway, that's your fix for Wednesday, September 30th, 2026.
Speaking of 30th things, did you know that it's IGN's 30th anniversary? And to celebrate, IGN's sister site Humble has a curated collection of PC games that includes The Elder Scrolls Online, Elsewhere, Remnant 2, BlazBlue Entropy Effect, Raven's Watch, Subnautica, Thronebreaker, The Witcher Tales, and even Sonic Adventure 2.
And proceeds go to support Child's Play Charity, which is dedicated to bringing games to pediatric hospitals to improve patients' lives through the power of play. Head on over to HumbleBundle.com and grab those before they are gone. Thank you all so much for watching.
Today, yesterday, tomorrow, whenever, I'll see you around. you
