# Follow 4 Steps, Get Big Biceps

> Source: [Follow 4 Steps, Get Big Biceps](https://youtube.com/watch?v=EbXlDsPWuQg)

## Summary

This video outlines a four-step system for building bigger biceps, addressing common mistakes in exercise selection, workout order, technique, and progressive overload. The presenter shares specific exercise recommendations, technique cues, and a simple tracking method to maximize bicep growth.

### Key Points

- **Bicep exercises are not all the same** [00:02] — There are many bicep exercises, but most people don't know how to use them properly. The key is to choose an exercise that plays the same role as the bench press for chest or overhead press for shoulders.
- **The three essential bicep exercises** [00:26] — The correct bicep exercises are the barbell curl, the EZ-bar curl, and the dumbbell curl. The barbell curl is the old-school classic and most effective, while the EZ-bar is a friendlier alternative for wrist pain. The dumbbell curl is still great, rated 9 out of 10 compared to 10 for the curls.
- **Barbell curl is the king** [00:51] — The barbell curl is credited as the main reason for the presenter's bicep size. It allows lifting more weight effectively, but alternatives exist for those with wrist pain or only dumbbells.
- **Exercise order matters** [02:35] — Doing biceps last in the workout reduces mental and physical focus. If training back on the same day, biceps should be done first if biceps are the priority, because back training directly taxes the biceps.
- **Prioritize your weak points** [03:51] — If biceps are your main goal, put bicep exercises before all other exercises. The first exercise in a workout gets your best performance, so it should be the one you want to improve most.
- **Control the weight at all times** [04:54] — No throwing movements on the way up or down. Actively resist the weight during the lowering phase — the eccentric is not a break but an opportunity for more gains.
- **Eliminate body English** [05:58] — To avoid using momentum, place your butt and back against a wall and don't break contact. Mind-muscle connection is also crucial; it takes time but is game-changing once developed.
- **Progressive overload is non-negotiable** [06:49] — Track your reps and weight to ensure small incremental increases over time. This is what actually grows biceps. The presenter recommends a paper notebook for tracking, as it feels more personal and helps you stay consistent.

### Conclusion

By following these four steps — choosing the right exercise, ordering it correctly, refining technique, and applying progressive overload — you can turn lackluster bicep training into consistent, measurable gains.

exercise. There is a ton of bicep exercises and most of them are really good, but most people have no idea what to actually do with them because while they might seem like they are all just bicep exercises, this goes much deeper
that you will probably not hear anywhere else. So consider this your lucky day because you will finally learn the secret behind getting big biceps. As you know, this step is about picking the
correct bicep exercise. So, what is the correct bicep exercise? You need to find an exercise that will play the same role as the bench press plays for the chest or the overhead press placed for the shoulders. You basically want to have a
bicep exercise that you treat in the same exact way as you would treat some small handful of bicep exercises that of those exercises to be exact. The barbell curl, the easy bar curl, and the
dumbbell curl. The barbell curl is an absolute old school classic. This is the legendary biceps. You know, even I attribute most of my bicep building success to this exercise. You know, it's an exercise that is both physically and
results you get from it are absolutely insane. It's definitely my number one choice, but as I mentioned before, there are also other alternatives. The main issue for most people with the barbell curl is that they feel wrist pain when
they are doing the exercise. In that case, you should go with the easy bar variation instead. It's basically the same exercise, just the grip is much more friendlier. And lastly, we have the classic dumbbell curl. I would rate this
exercise a tiny bit lower than its barbell counterparts simply because using a barbell allows you to lift more weight more effectively. But that bad exercise by any means. If the barbell and the easy bar curl were 10
out of 10 exercises, then the dumbbell variation would be a 9 out of 10. Still really, really good. And if you are, for example, only working out with dumbbells dumbbells over barbells, then that's completely fine. You just need to start
doing one of the three exercises I showed you. And yes, you can and you should do more bicep exercises than just one of those. But having one of those three exercises is a very important building block that just needs to be
included. In most instances, you will be doing two bicep exercises per workout. So, the first exercise should be one of the ones I showed you. And for the second exercise, I would recommend some exercise that hits the brachiialis and
brachio radiialis because that is the area that most people are skipping something like that exists. The exercises that you can use for this purpose are any type of hammer curl or any curl with the overhand grip. Step
number two, use the correct exercise order. The reason why most people have terrible looking biceps is because their exercise order doesn't make any sense you know that your biceps is pretty mediocre and you are really trying your
are you still doing it as the last tell me because this makes absolutely me show you my brand new beginner bundle. It has everything that you need
to get your muscle building journey back on track. If you have been feeling like need something that will teach you absolutely everything that you need to know in an easy to understand way, then you should definitely take a look at it.
It comes with a training, a nutrition, and a cardio guide, so you will know exactly what to do in each step of your journey. You can learn more about it by description. All right, now back to our second step, which was using the correct
exercise order. When you train biceps as the last exercise or just much later into the workout, your ability to mentally and physically focus on what you are doing will be so much lower. What you also have to keep in mind is
on the same day, which is the case for push pull legs for example, then you really have to pay attention to the order of the exercises. Because when you train back, it's directly taxing your biceps. So you got to make a choice and
ask yourself, what do I want more? Bigger biceps or bigger back? And because you are watching this video, my guess is that your answer was biceps. In that case, make sure that you are always doing your bicep exercises before your
back exercises. And I know this is a little bit of a chicken and the egg situation, but you need to learn that in bodybuilding, you can't always prioritize everything at once. You got to focus on your weak points. And once
on to something else that you really want to improve. It's all about breaking free from all the preset norms and rules. Because if you want to achieve a specific goal, you need a very specific approach. So if your number one goal is
to have bigger biceps, then go ahead and do everything in your power that you can to achieve that. Don't just put your bicep exercises before bag exercises. Put your bicep exercises before all other exercises. The exercise you do
first in the workout is the one that you can perform your best on both physically and mentally. And you best believe that that will wake up your biceps from its ancient slumber. Step number three, dial in your technique. What proper
technique? I already know how to do bicep exercises. Do you really? Let's be honest for a second. It's just you and me. Are you really confident that you you are always doing your absolute best
gains? Because I don't think that's the case. So, let me give you some pointers that you can use to squeeze out more gains out of the bicep exercises. The first thing that is absolutely crucial is that you are controlling the weight
at all times. There should not be any throwing movements whatsoever. And this goes for both the way up and the way down. Most people are already doing a good job on the way up, but the way down is where everyone drops the ball. And I
mean that quite literally. You need to be actively resisting the weight as it the lift isn't some kind of break in between where you can just chill. It's the exact opposite. Once you realize this, you will be able to get so much
more extra bicep gains. And secondly, you have to eliminate all the body English. You can't be bending like that floating thing on the gas station. You troubles with that, I highly recommend placing your butt and back up against
the wall and you are not allowed to break contact under any circumstance because if you do, you know that you used excessive momentum. What is also an your technique is mind muscle connection. I know that this might take
some amount of time before you are actually truly able to connect your mind with your biceps, but once you do, you will enter a whole new dimension. It's game-changing having a complete My Muscle connection is without sounding
like a lunatic because it does really feel like you just become the muscle itself. Probably just saying this alone makes me look like an insane person. Anyway, one of the reasons why in the previous step you had to pay attention
improving your mind muscle connection. workout, you are completely fresh and you are in the best position to actually connect your mind with your muscles. And once you achieve that, you will be able
level that you never thought was even possible. Step number four, progressive overload. While this might seem super obvious, it's something that gets hugely neglected when it comes to the biceps. Just think back to when you are doing
your little bicep exercise at the end of the workout and tell me when is the last maybe you are such a monster that you can't even remember the amount of reps you did because you didn't even bother counting. I know what you did. You can't
you one last chance to repent from the sins you committed against bodybuilding. From now on, you will diligently count the amount of reps and the weight you used because that is ultimately what will grow your biceps. It's those small
incremental increases that make all the difference in the end. I'm sure that one bother with the element of progressive overload is because it was already the end of the workout. You were tired and who cares, right? Whatever. But thanks
to those four steps I showed you today, your whole idea of bicep training should change. The thing that personally helped me the most when it comes to tracking progress is when I started using a paper notebook. I know that this is giving off
Fred Flintstone vibes, but this is truly the best method that you can use if you are having troubles tracking your progress. It just feels more personal. It starts to feel more like you are on an actual journey, which actually makes
are writing down. It's not like some random numbers in your phone. Those are your numbers in your hands. All right, person again. So, that's all I got for you today. I hope that you found it
bundle down in the description below. Thanks for watching and I will see you in the next one. This video looks pretty interesting. How about you go check it interesting. How about you go check it out?
