[00:00] Tik Tok and social media had its Trends over  the years and many of us might remember some   of them for example we had the tide pod challenge  where people thought it was a good idea to film   themselves consuming laundry detergent to a  point where stores had to cage human beings   [00:14] from wash products and you also may recall  the devious lick Trend where teenagers stole   things from their schools for Tik Tock Fame all  kinds of [Music] things now some of those trends   [00:30] hit in the Nostalgia for us but there was  one Trend that completely tanked off the   internet and I'm not sure if I'm the only  one who noticed it that is NPC streamers   this trend consisted of grown adults live  streaming themselves acting like video game   [00:44] characters repeating constant catchphrases  whenever people interacted with the streams   thanks for the man I hate July thanks for  the hey GG my hey thank you for the chicken   thank you for the heart me ooh I heart me too  hopefully that rings a bell now for a while   [01:00] this was everywhere even if you weren't on Tik  Tok where the streams were shoved down the for   you Pages the streamers gained so much attention  that they were getting reposted on pretty much   every other social media app but like all Trends  eventually they die out and get left in the past   [01:16] cuz as of right now it's like this wave of content  completely fell off the face of the Earth and I   know a lot of you guys have strong opinions on  why it's for the better so in this video we'll   be taking a dive into how these NPC streamers  took over with the internet internet how people   [01:30] benefited from it and of course how this trend  completely fell off ooh i h me so to understand   how all of this started let's take a look at what  inspired it in case you don't know the term NPC   [01:43] stands for non-playable character a good example  can be the little side characters in open world   games and these are basically just scripted  models that have a few lines and just exist [02:00] that's pretty much it now when this term  started on social media people used it as   a way to describe other personalities it's pretty  much a way of saying that somebody was programmed   or something and it wasn't until 2023 when a Tik  Tok streamer named pinky doll took the term NPC to   [02:17] another level gang gang gang gang gang gang gang  gang that was good coconut gang gang gang gang I   so good gang gang gang gang gang gang it's pretty  much the embodiment of what I said before now of   [02:32] course this was weird to say the least and people  like you and I can look at this and be like what   the [ __ ] everyone was just shocked that Society  led us to a point where streamers were acting like   [02:44] literal robots on camera so pinky doll got herself  a lot of attention negatively and positively pinky   doll would go on to average a large and supportive  audience through her NPC streams and with her   [02:58] being a part of the Tik Tok creator fund already  within weeks she found herself making thousands   of dollars per stream thanks to the people tuning  in this woman pretty much uncovered a whole Market   in the digital world without anyone realizing  at first so like anybody else would she took   [03:15] it and ran with it and it wouldn't be long until  other streamers saw what she was doing and before   we knew it Tik Tock live was soon flooded with  people acting like malfunctioning Sim characters   for money this trend was stupid but it was is  also stupidly profitable gang gang gang now let's   [03:34] talk further about the money since that's what  everybody was doing this for these NPC streamers   were making more money than we can imagine and  all they were doing was just acting like robots   but how were they making this money well it was  through something called Tik Tock gifts and these   [03:49] are a form of currency on the app it's kind of  like bits on the twitch platform for anybody   familiar when viewers send these gifts which cost  real money the streamer receives these and further   pads the bank account then the streamer thanks the  person who gifted them with the NPC response thank   [04:05] you for the hearts I am trying to get my bag at  least she was honest about it now the bigger the   reaction they gave the more people wanted to  keep sending gifts to trigger it so there were   different types of gifts that range in prices to  trigger different reactions it's not hard to see   [04:21] how people were making thousands of dollars per  stream and some were even pulling in six figures   a month what what the why do I keep talking about  things that make me feel broke and side note a lot   [04:34] of these streamers streamed every single day  I want you to imagine acting like a robot for   every single day of your life stop it get some  help and for a while this was all we saw on Tik   [04:49] Tok just people chasing the bag however time has  shown us repeatedly what happens when something   gets too big too fast I'm pretty sure we all know  that when everybody starts doing the same thing   it loses its appeal very quickly everybody's Tik  Tok for you page became a living nightmare with   [05:06] every other live stream being someone in front  of a ring light rolling their eyes back and forth   and saying ice been so good gang gang gang gang  gang gang like they were being held against their   will and then came the large amounts of backlash  from people like you and I who still had operable   [05:22] brains people started calling the NPC streaming  weird soulless and downright embarrassing clips   of streamers Act like glitching robots went  viral like it was water flowing off Niagara   Falls everyone started clowning these influencers  comparing them to circus acts it got to a point   [05:39] where even some of the streamers admitted it was  mentally exhausting ice cream so good yum yum yum   thank you for the gang gang gang gang gang gang  can I stop is this enough content is this enough   [05:51] content I I mean I can't say I'm surprised you  can only imagine how mentally tormenting it is   having to sit for hours repeating the same  catchphrases all while strangers spam emojis   at you I mean I know I get blunt and unhinged on  this channel but even I can say this sounds like   [06:08] a disaster now as if things weren't bad enough  with the stuff I just mentioned Tik Tok started   cracking down on the world of NPC streaming the  platform began limiting the amount of money people   could make from gifts which killed off one  of the biggest reasons why this trend was so   [06:23] popular in the first place and that my friends  is single-handedly how the satisfying downfall   of NP n PC streams took place with no exposure  and no money a lot of these NPC streamers just   [06:36] despawned pretty much I was waiting to use that  one everyone who was doing this type of streaming   pretty much disappeared off the internet without  a trace and some tried moving to other platforms   like kick and Instagram live but without Tik tok's  Infamous algorithm that was the foundation of the   [06:51] streams the magic reach was gone YY yum I need to  go to the gym I'm a fat cow so then what happened   to the girl that started all of this pinky doll  still streams occasionally but nowhere near as   [07:05] what she did before she tried to switch things  up with different content and platforms but it   hasn't hit the same like her Golden Era and  as for the many random NPC streamers who blew   up overnight well like I said earlier they uh  completely disappeared it's literally like they   [07:20] despawned off social media it turns out when you  build your platform off a gimmick you don't have   much to fall back on once the gimmick is gone  and at the end end of the day NPC streaming was   one of the weirdest money-making Trends we've  seen in a long time it was strange and it was   [07:37] kind of distopian but it worked at least for a  while but like all Trends it'll burn out just   as fast as it blows up and if I'm being honest  it's probably for the best watching a bunch of   people [Music] saying for three hours straight  was definitely not society's Peak moment anyway   [07:57] let me know what y'all think in the comments are  you guys happy that this trend died off and did   you guys ever donate to NPC streamer cuz if so  I got some serious questions for you drop any of   your thoughts down below and if you enjoyed this  vid make sure you drop a like And subscribe or   [08:12] else pinky doll will whisper gang gang gang in  your ear while you sleep I appreciate you guys   for watching the videos and all the support as  always and I'll catch y'all in the next one deuces
