[00:00] Tik Tok and social media had its Trends over&nbsp; the years and many of us might remember some&nbsp;&nbsp; of them for example we had the tide pod challenge&nbsp; where people thought it was a good idea to film&nbsp;&nbsp; themselves consuming laundry detergent to a&nbsp; point where stores had to cage human beings&nbsp;&nbsp;
[00:14] from wash products and you also may recall&nbsp; the devious lick Trend where teenagers stole&nbsp;&nbsp; things from their schools for Tik Tock Fame all&nbsp; kinds of [Music] things now some of those trends&nbsp;&nbsp;
[00:30] hit in the Nostalgia for us but there was&nbsp; one Trend that completely tanked off the&nbsp;&nbsp; internet and I'm not sure if I'm the only&nbsp; one who noticed it that is NPC streamers&nbsp;&nbsp; this trend consisted of grown adults live&nbsp; streaming themselves acting like video game&nbsp;&nbsp;
[00:44] characters repeating constant catchphrases&nbsp; whenever people interacted with the streams&nbsp;&nbsp; thanks for the man I hate July thanks for&nbsp; the hey GG my hey thank you for the chicken&nbsp;&nbsp; thank you for the heart me ooh I heart me too&nbsp; hopefully that rings a bell now for a while&nbsp;&nbsp;
[01:00] this was everywhere even if you weren't on Tik&nbsp; Tok where the streams were shoved down the for&nbsp;&nbsp; you Pages the streamers gained so much attention&nbsp; that they were getting reposted on pretty much&nbsp;&nbsp; every other social media app but like all Trends&nbsp; eventually they die out and get left in the past&nbsp;&nbsp;
[01:16] cuz as of right now it's like this wave of content&nbsp; completely fell off the face of the Earth and I&nbsp;&nbsp; know a lot of you guys have strong opinions on&nbsp; why it's for the better so in this video we'll&nbsp;&nbsp; be taking a dive into how these NPC streamers&nbsp; took over with the internet internet how people&nbsp;&nbsp;
[01:30] benefited from it and of course how this trend&nbsp; completely fell off ooh i h me so to understand&nbsp;&nbsp; how all of this started let's take a look at what&nbsp; inspired it in case you don't know the term NPC&nbsp;&nbsp;
[01:43] stands for non-playable character a good example&nbsp; can be the little side characters in open world&nbsp;&nbsp; games and these are basically just scripted&nbsp; models that have a few lines and just exist
[02:00] that's pretty much it now when this term&nbsp; started on social media people used it as&nbsp;&nbsp; a way to describe other personalities it's pretty&nbsp; much a way of saying that somebody was programmed&nbsp;&nbsp; or something and it wasn't until 2023 when a Tik&nbsp; Tok streamer named pinky doll took the term NPC to&nbsp;&nbsp;
[02:17] another level gang gang gang gang gang gang gang&nbsp; gang that was good coconut gang gang gang gang I&nbsp;&nbsp; so good gang gang gang gang gang gang it's pretty&nbsp; much the embodiment of what I said before now of&nbsp;&nbsp;
[02:32] course this was weird to say the least and people&nbsp; like you and I can look at this and be like what&nbsp;&nbsp; the [&nbsp;__&nbsp;] everyone was just shocked that Society&nbsp; led us to a point where streamers were acting like&nbsp;&nbsp;
[02:44] literal robots on camera so pinky doll got herself&nbsp; a lot of attention negatively and positively pinky&nbsp;&nbsp; doll would go on to average a large and supportive&nbsp; audience through her NPC streams and with her&nbsp;&nbsp;
[02:58] being a part of the Tik Tok creator fund already&nbsp; within weeks she found herself making thousands&nbsp;&nbsp; of dollars per stream thanks to the people tuning&nbsp; in this woman pretty much uncovered a whole Market&nbsp;&nbsp; in the digital world without anyone realizing&nbsp; at first so like anybody else would she took&nbsp;&nbsp;
[03:15] it and ran with it and it wouldn't be long until&nbsp; other streamers saw what she was doing and before&nbsp;&nbsp; we knew it Tik Tock live was soon flooded with&nbsp; people acting like malfunctioning Sim characters&nbsp;&nbsp; for money this trend was stupid but it was is&nbsp; also stupidly profitable gang gang gang now let's&nbsp;&nbsp;
[03:34] talk further about the money since that's what&nbsp; everybody was doing this for these NPC streamers&nbsp;&nbsp; were making more money than we can imagine and&nbsp; all they were doing was just acting like robots&nbsp;&nbsp; but how were they making this money well it was&nbsp; through something called Tik Tock gifts and these&nbsp;&nbsp;
[03:49] are a form of currency on the app it's kind of&nbsp; like bits on the twitch platform for anybody&nbsp;&nbsp; familiar when viewers send these gifts which cost&nbsp; real money the streamer receives these and further&nbsp;&nbsp; pads the bank account then the streamer thanks the&nbsp; person who gifted them with the NPC response thank&nbsp;&nbsp;
[04:05] you for the hearts I am trying to get my bag at&nbsp; least she was honest about it now the bigger the&nbsp;&nbsp; reaction they gave the more people wanted to&nbsp; keep sending gifts to trigger it so there were&nbsp;&nbsp; different types of gifts that range in prices to&nbsp; trigger different reactions it's not hard to see&nbsp;&nbsp;
[04:21] how people were making thousands of dollars per&nbsp; stream and some were even pulling in six figures&nbsp;&nbsp; a month what what the why do I keep talking about&nbsp; things that make me feel broke and side note a lot&nbsp;&nbsp;
[04:34] of these streamers streamed every single day&nbsp; I want you to imagine acting like a robot for&nbsp;&nbsp; every single day of your life stop it get some&nbsp; help and for a while this was all we saw on Tik&nbsp;&nbsp;
[04:49] Tok just people chasing the bag however time has&nbsp; shown us repeatedly what happens when something&nbsp;&nbsp; gets too big too fast I'm pretty sure we all know&nbsp; that when everybody starts doing the same thing&nbsp;&nbsp; it loses its appeal very quickly everybody's Tik&nbsp; Tok for you page became a living nightmare with&nbsp;&nbsp;
[05:06] every other live stream being someone in front&nbsp; of a ring light rolling their eyes back and forth&nbsp;&nbsp; and saying ice been so good gang gang gang gang&nbsp; gang gang like they were being held against their&nbsp;&nbsp; will and then came the large amounts of backlash&nbsp; from people like you and I who still had operable&nbsp;&nbsp;
[05:22] brains people started calling the NPC streaming&nbsp; weird soulless and downright embarrassing clips&nbsp;&nbsp; of streamers Act like glitching robots went&nbsp; viral like it was water flowing off Niagara&nbsp;&nbsp; Falls everyone started clowning these influencers&nbsp; comparing them to circus acts it got to a point&nbsp;&nbsp;
[05:39] where even some of the streamers admitted it was&nbsp; mentally exhausting ice cream so good yum yum yum&nbsp;&nbsp; thank you for the gang gang gang gang gang gang&nbsp; can I stop is this enough content is this enough&nbsp;&nbsp;
[05:51] content I I mean I can't say I'm surprised you&nbsp; can only imagine how mentally tormenting it is&nbsp;&nbsp; having to sit for hours repeating the same&nbsp; catchphrases all while strangers spam emojis&nbsp;&nbsp; at you I mean I know I get blunt and unhinged on&nbsp; this channel but even I can say this sounds like&nbsp;&nbsp;
[06:08] a disaster now as if things weren't bad enough&nbsp; with the stuff I just mentioned Tik Tok started&nbsp;&nbsp; cracking down on the world of NPC streaming the&nbsp; platform began limiting the amount of money people&nbsp;&nbsp; could make from gifts which killed off one&nbsp; of the biggest reasons why this trend was so&nbsp;&nbsp;
[06:23] popular in the first place and that my friends&nbsp; is single-handedly how the satisfying downfall&nbsp;&nbsp; of NP n PC streams took place with no exposure&nbsp; and no money a lot of these NPC streamers just&nbsp;&nbsp;
[06:36] despawned pretty much I was waiting to use that&nbsp; one everyone who was doing this type of streaming&nbsp;&nbsp; pretty much disappeared off the internet without&nbsp; a trace and some tried moving to other platforms&nbsp;&nbsp; like kick and Instagram live but without Tik tok's&nbsp; Infamous algorithm that was the foundation of the&nbsp;&nbsp;
[06:51] streams the magic reach was gone YY yum I need to&nbsp; go to the gym I'm a fat cow so then what happened&nbsp;&nbsp; to the girl that started all of this pinky doll&nbsp; still streams occasionally but nowhere near as&nbsp;&nbsp;
[07:05] what she did before she tried to switch things&nbsp; up with different content and platforms but it&nbsp;&nbsp; hasn't hit the same like her Golden Era and&nbsp; as for the many random NPC streamers who blew&nbsp;&nbsp; up overnight well like I said earlier they uh&nbsp; completely disappeared it's literally like they&nbsp;&nbsp;
[07:20] despawned off social media it turns out when you&nbsp; build your platform off a gimmick you don't have&nbsp;&nbsp; much to fall back on once the gimmick is gone&nbsp; and at the end end of the day NPC streaming was&nbsp;&nbsp; one of the weirdest money-making Trends we've&nbsp; seen in a long time it was strange and it was&nbsp;&nbsp;
[07:37] kind of distopian but it worked at least for a&nbsp; while but like all Trends it'll burn out just&nbsp;&nbsp; as fast as it blows up and if I'm being honest&nbsp; it's probably for the best watching a bunch of&nbsp;&nbsp; people [Music] saying for three hours straight&nbsp; was definitely not society's Peak moment anyway&nbsp;&nbsp;
