# La trampa fiscal española que nadie ve

## Summary

This video compares Spain's income tax (IRPF) brackets from 2015 and 2026, revealing they are identical despite significant economic change. The speaker explains how this frozen tax table, combined with rising prices and nominal salaries, pushes workers into higher tax brackets without any real gain in purchasing power — a phenomenon known as 'cold progressivity' (progresividad en frío).

### Key Points

- **IRPF brackets unchanged since 2015** [00:00] — The Spanish income tax brackets in 2015 and 2026 are exactly the same, despite 11 years of economic change.
- **Prices rose 28%, salaries lagged** [00:12] — The cost of goods has risen by 28%, while salaries have also increased — but not by as much.
- **Bracket creep without real gains** [00:26] — Because the IRPF table isn't adjusted for inflation, Spaniards who earn more nominally move into higher brackets and pay a higher percentage — without gaining purchasing power.
- **Cold progressivity defined** [00:47] — This is called 'progresividad en frío': taxpayers don't earn more in real terms, but the tax authority (Hacienda) collects more.
- **Solidarity vs. fairness debate** [00:47] — The speaker agrees with solidarity — paying more if you genuinely earn more — but argues the real issue is people paying more without improving real income. The closing reflection: 'Hacienda somos todos' (we are all the Treasury), so the debatable point is whether that money is used well.

### Conclusion

The video highlights a structural flaw in Spain's tax system: a frozen IRPF table that silently raises tax burdens as nominal incomes drift upward with inflation. The core question left for viewers is not whether we should pay more, but whether the state spends that extra revenue wisely.

## Transcript
