[00:14] the changes they've made. We have more power here. That's the big news. This now makes 777 horsepower. It has the valve train from the Redeye. It's the same 6.2 L

[00:28] supercharged Hellcat motor, but now it's making more power. It's got a new induction system. You can hear the supercharger a little bit better. going to walk you around it, look at some of the aesthetic stuff, talk about

[00:40] we'll take it for a drive and see how all of that has added up and uh improved the driving experience hopefully. So, let's start off on the interior. We've got a whole new electrical architecture here to support the new

[00:54] electronics, the infotainment, some of the updated calibration in this truck. We've got this massive slab touchscreen, which is the updated Uconnect system that a lot of RAM products are using these days, so that's nice to see. It

[01:06] seems to be pretty responsive. We've got a good amount of physical controls and buttons, luxury features. This has heated and ventilated massaging seats, physical buttons on the side for climate, which I appreciate.

[01:20] And then of course, you've got your drive modes, your kind of SRT pages, if you will, and then some race settings, which uh let's see here. I think we can go into vehicle. You can see your performance pages, lots of details

[01:34] And your race options. We'll look at this more when we go off-road in a separate video and send this thing off some jumps. the exterior. The overall design looks pretty

[01:49] familiar. It's still a Ram TRX, still looks a lot like the RHO, the old TRX, similar looking wheels. The new optional beadlocks are a slightly different color. They're black inside with a dark grey bead lock ring. Those are about 10

[02:01] lb heavier per corner though than the standard wheels. So, something to factor standard wheels. So, something to factor in. We're on a set of 325 R18 Goodyear Territory AT tires. Awesome performance in the mud. We'll see how

[02:14] they handle and feel and sound on the road today. Those are 35s. They're fat road today. Those are 35s. They're fat 35s. Second generation of Bilstein dampers. Updated calibrations here. Massive shocks. Lots of capability on

[02:27] and off road. They still have the really cool feature where if they sense full droop, they'll stiffen up bracing for impact on a jump. We're going to be doing that in another video. That'll be a lot of fun. We've got some new badges

[02:39] a lot of fun. We've got some new badges here. A new SRT badge and the new T-Rex. you're going to be seeing on all Ram TRX's now. Looks pretty good.

[02:57] Automatic tailgate. Nice big bed. Look at that. This thing is still super wide, super long. It's just a little bit bigger than the F-150 Raptor R by just a fraction of an inch.

[03:11] scoop here. Got the three lights up front. Lots of little red accents on this Ram TRX. There's also a bloodshot night edition with a graphics package. It's

[03:24] got a side splash, center red stripe, blacked out hood and roof, and some carbon fiber weave bits in the interior with a red thread, which is kind of cool. And then of course a little bit more red badging all around. I can tell

[03:37] differentiate this new TRX in some visual ways and that shows with some of the exterior treatments and interior design changes.

[03:50] of space back here. Got some nice Molly hooks. Heated ventilated seats for the rear passengers. This starts at a hundred grand. Which compared to the F-150 Raptor R seems like pretty decent value.

[04:07] Yes, it's more expensive, but they're offering a little bit more here, too, in this 2027 model. The fit, the finish, the interior quality here is a real step up from RAM. And I've noticed that in all of their

[04:19] trucks. They're their interiors are just a little bit nicer than the competition. Gosh, compared to my Viper from 2004, this is a quantum leap in terms of interior quality. Everything here looks and feels really nice. The materials,

[04:33] the suede Alcantara. Look at this TRX badge. It's got some bits from the Hellcat motor, kind of a cross-section here. And then you can see your VIN, SRT Hellcat 6.2 L V8 and TRX over this kind of glass cover. Very cool. I like that

[04:48] with a sport mode, you can manually shift. We get nice metal paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. This is a full-time four-wheel drive truck. So, there's no rear-wheel drive

[05:01] can get pretty sideways in four-wheel drive. So, we'll test that out a little drive. So, we'll test that out a little bit later in that off-road video.

[05:14] Side mirrors are great with that little blind spot section. And I like that the rear passengers get heated and ventilated seats.

[05:27] 91 plus octane. I guess that makes sense with 777 horsepower. We took one of these TRX's out to the dunes once, and I think in 800 miles we spent about $400 on fuel. And that was before fuel prices got expensive.

[05:42] you are trying to save at the pump. But if you want to have some fun, this thing will do it. Look at this new intake. This is awesome. Nice high-flow filter element, new induction system, new ram air system here, routing in in a

[05:56] increase in power. Like I mentioned earlier, this has the valve train from the Hellcat Redeye. We've got an increase in fuel pressure We've got an increase in fuel pressure from 5 to 7 bar and a higher redline.

[06:08] The old Ram TRX redlined at 6250. This is at 6500. So, should sound pretty good. No idea what fuel economy is. Again, you're going to probably get lucky to be in the double digits.

[06:26] Love the wide fenders, the design, the sculpted body lines on the TRX have always been really nice. Not completely sold on the blacked-out mirrors, door handles, and lower portion, but I guess if you get it in black, you won't really

[06:38] notice, will you? You still have a bed step right here, trucks. And then, of course, lots of tow connections back here, too. Very, very nice. This thing will do it all.

[06:56] more, and we'll head out and give you guys some driving impressions on this. Over to the left, you've got all of your window controls. Auto up-down windows on the front for the front two passengers. Two seat memory settings. You get a red

[07:09] Harman Kardon tweeter. That's kind of cool. Pedal adjustments. Look at that. The pedals will move. There we go. Have that in my Viper, too. That's kind of cool. We've got auto headlights, physical dimmer switches here. Look at

[07:21] that. Love that. That's one of my favorite features in any new car, if buttons behind the steering wheel to control your volume, your track selection, and then these massive paddles that are metal. They feel so

[07:33] good. This is how Ram and Stellantis need to be doing paddle shifters. I was in the new Chargers with the plastic, done and they feel fantastic. We also

[07:45] get level two driving assistance in this new TRX. So, look at that. We'll test that out on the highway later in today's drive. Massive center console with a two-tiered setup. Kind of an upper tray and then this lower tray where you could

[07:58] you've got all of your math homework, your tangent, your cosine, your sine calculations. Very nice. Coin holders, look at that. Even with the cents marked

[08:10] out. Look at that and they're rubber so it doesn't rattle around in there. Lots of cool carbon fiber bits here. Real carbon on the doors, on the cup holder water bottle holder situation. We've got ventilated wireless

[08:24] phone chargers. Very nice. Here's what your key looks like. Nice, good, attractive looking key. Everything in this TRX looks well-designed, well-built, well-made. They've kind of thought about all the little details and

[08:38] everything looks finished and well put together. The build quality here is really nice. We even get some Alcantara suede headliner. For a hundred grand, this is looking to be pretty good value, honestly, in this super truck space.

[08:51] Let's go see how it drives. We've got a little drive route set up for us driving impressions. Gosh, there's even some more carbon fiber up here and on here. It's quite a bit of carbon in this.

[09:06] supercharger just a little bit more in this new TRX. That's always a welcome change. Go around this guy here. Lots of content Go around this guy here. Lots of content creators filming their content.

[09:31] Ram TRX, Johnson Valley, Glamis Sand Dunes, some other courses off-road and this next generation of TRX delivered in terms of performance and as a meaningful

[09:45] where they could have made some improvements. Usually, in my past, this is when manufacturers really start to dial in a platform and a car because

[09:58] they're able to kind of fine-tune and fix all of the things that maybe weren't fix all of the things that maybe weren't perfect in that first generation. drive modes here. We've got auto, custom, mud, sand, rock, Baja, and

[10:12] sport, as well as tow and snow. I might start off in sport mode. And we'll just see how this thing rips around a little bit.

[11:12] Don't know exact curb weight, but at this point, does it really matter? like listening to the supercharger a little bit more.

[11:25] Ride quality, even in sport mode, feels great on street. This feels a little bit softer, a little bit better damped, less busy. go into auto mode. That's probably what people are going to

[11:40] That's probably what people are going to be daily driving this in most. Eight-speed transmission, really smooth on its shifts.

[12:07] much as I was expecting to. It kind of drags them a little bit more, but still drags them a little bit more, but still shifts super fast.

[12:19] This new TRX definitely has a better ride than the last generation. way more sophisticated in terms of on-road comfort.

[12:32] Because at the end of the day, this is Yes, this is an off-road Baja basher. It's just a It's a beast, but it's also a luxury truck. It's got all the amenities and all the comforts of a hundred-thousand-dollar vehicle.

[12:45] And honestly, these days, trucks like this are our luxury vehicles since we've done away with all of our big luxury sedans. These trucks have kind of taken their place.

[13:00] everything. This can tow. This can go off-road. This can be sent off of jumps. It can do the commute. It's practical. It's massive inside and out.

[13:15] lot of changes to that truck that they've carried over into this new Ram TRX, but this thing just feels so nice and sounds so good with that 6.2 L and sounds so good with that 6.2 L supercharged hemi under the hood.

[13:35] Ride is awesome. It's quiet. It's refined.

[13:50] sport mode here. Three presses to quickly change and Three presses to quickly change and cycle through your drive modes there.

[14:14] redline notification here. >> [music] >> Yeah, there's a little bit of a shift indication there. Nice.

[14:32] It's good your tires are pretty quiet on the highway, too. That's nice.

[14:53] About how I'd expect. A little bit soft and squishy, but really solid.

[15:07] Oh, this thing rides so nice. Got a key rattling around here.

[15:19] and test out our level two driving assistance.

[15:31] I assume this will tell me when I can be hands-free. And some highways are going to be hands-free, some probably aren't. Let's see. Active driving assistance Let's see. Active driving assistance ready. Let's set it to 70 miles an hour.

[15:44] following distance here, turn on and off different settings. wheel are fantastic. They're matte, they're not gloss black. They've kind of kept all the gloss black stuff to a minimum here. It is a haptic sensor on

[15:58] aren't on a hands-free section of highway, all you have to do is just need to apply any torque, which is really nice. All right, now we got hands-free driving working. It's engaged. It's keeping me

[16:12] nicely centered between the lines. We've got these green indicators on both sides of the gauge cluster telling me that we're hands-free. Pretty seamless experience. Let's try to negotiate a lane change here.

[16:27] negotiate a lane change here. Happens quickly, confidently, smoothly. Let's go back. We're on a bit of a curve here.

[16:44] Nice. Can't really ask for much more than that. re-engage it, how quickly it'll come back.

[17:00] We're back. Easy. Aside from fuel consumption, this thing would just devour miles on a road trip.

[17:16] the middle. A few different things there. It's A few different things there. It's telling me to look forward. Okay.

[17:32] Look at that drivetrain, wheel articulation, distance, music. I remember when these pages used to lag so much in the old system. They're much in the old system. They're responsive and they're immediate now.

[17:48] mirrors, that little blind spot wide-angle mirror is great. They're nice and wide, set out from the truck, and the passenger side is nicely this off cuz it's asking me to look forward. It just gave me a a butt

[18:01] vibration with my seat. We can switch to just standard adaptive We can switch to just standard adaptive cruise control, too.

[18:14] Great buttons on the steering wheel. Really easy to operate and use.

[18:26] Grand Cherokee, and it was fantastic. It was up there with Blue Cruise and in Super Cruise. It's a great level two driving assistance system. And this RAM TRX, it's a very welcome

[18:40] And this RAM TRX, it's a very welcome addition. Minimal wind noise, even with the pano shade open.

[18:54] It's a quick sound system test. We've got this Harman Kardon. Great big physical volume knob there. I like that.

[19:13] wheel, track selection on the left side, volume on the right.

[20:10] It's a little bit bass heavy, but that's to be expected. >> Very nice. No complaints there. Oops, and then I have to just remember to mute

[20:22] and then I have to just remember to mute that. There we go. highway, the ride quality is a huge improvement compared to the last RAM TRX. Last RAM TRX was soft on bigger impacts, but once it

[20:36] started to get kind of on smaller uh jittery pavement, it was really kind of rough and and just very active. There's always a lot going on. that. It's just overall more composed, more

[20:51] solid, more refined feeling driving down the road. A lot more comfortable at the end of the day.

[21:05] Even in auto mode, that 8-speed auto is pretty eager to downshift, make passes. This is a surprisingly comfortable truck on the highway. The level of refinement here is really nice. I think this finally has

[21:18] similar level of comfort that the F-150 Raptor R has always been able to achieve. And that's that's really what I wanted out of this truck on the street. with that you get a rear-wheel drive mode, so you can do massive drifts.

[21:38] RAM has made the executive decision to make this full-time four-wheel drive. All right, let's go back into sport mode. Little bit of lag from this drive mode change.

[21:55] maybe we'll attempt to do a launch control, depending on traffic.

[22:36] burbles from the exhaust. Just good old-fashioned supercharged Hemi V8, and I love it for it. All right, we're getting back into town All right, we're getting back into town here. Let's put us back into drive.

[22:49] Settle things down slightly. This truck really does have just very well-differentiated Jekyll and Hyde dual split personalities. It's so comfortable and refined when you want to just relax

[23:03] and turn off. And then so brutal and hardcore and high performance when you hardcore and high performance when you want to rip around.

[23:15] kind of the more squishy character of the tire, the suspension tuning here, the calibration, it actually makes for a pretty fun street truck.

[23:36] badge. So, I guess to sum up, a lot of little So, I guess to sum up, a lot of little refinements here that add up to a much nicer overall driving experience, which is kind of what I was hoping for and

[23:48] is kind of what I was hoping for and expecting going into this drive today. TRX was uncomfortable. This is just noticeably more comfortable, which is I

[24:01] noticeably more comfortable, which is I think exactly what the truck needed.

[24:21] sport mode. It's still very comfortable. Rides out the gears just a little bit more so you can hear that supercharger.

[24:42] Oh, yeah. You know what? We can even open that rear window so we can hear it open that rear window so we can hear it even more.

[24:59] Haha. >> [laughter] >> Scat Pack does such a great job with their exhaust systems on their HEMI V8s.

[25:40] Speedo doesn't update as fast as it used to.

[26:01] sounded pretty good with that Magnaflow exhaust.

[26:26] It's their best friend who's your worst influence goading you on.

[26:43] And your right foot just That's the musical instrument. you're crossed up, you're sliding around off-road.

[27:04] the RAM TRX. This thing feels great. They've done all the refinements, all the changes and tweaks they needed to do here. It's just such a nice overall And for a starting price of about 100 grand, I think it's 99,000 some change

[27:18] without destination. Pretty good truck to just kind of do it Pretty good truck to just kind of do it all and have some fun with. Pretty much every truck these days that we test is 70, 80,000 dollars.

[27:32] something this fun, this entertaining, this exciting, that sounds this cool, Yeah, you're going to spend a fortune on fuel and running costs, just kind of keeping this thing full of gas, but oh

[27:45] man, it's so so good. We'll park, give you guys one more walk around of this truck, but stay tuned for the off-road drive, cuz we're really course, we're doing a couple jumps. One

[27:57] jump is at 40 miles an hour, the other jump is at 60 or 70 miles an hour. And jump is at 60 or 70 miles an hour. And it's a long long bit of airtime.

[28:10] even more of a weapon off-road. Just fantastic.

[28:28] Body mounted rock guards, rock rails.

[28:46] We'll see you in the next one. Take care.
