[00:03] started the camera or at least I pretended to just start the camera if wouldn't have actually heard it beep and the reason I did that is to make the content seem more authentic anyway just

[00:16] kind of a fun thing that with content these days the reality is is there's a these days the reality is is there's a huge Trend right now in 2024 for exactly what it is that we try to create which is authentic content it's kind of like

[00:30] is authentic content it's kind of like people have been inundated with AI and robots so much over the last year or so that they're just like starving for human connection which I think is great but unfortunately there are a lot of

[00:44] really really really authentic people who don't necessarily come across as very authentic on YouTube and the same is true for blogging in fact one of the best things that we as bloggers have going for us this year in 2024 and I

[00:57] think going forward is the fact that we are human and yet there are a lot of bloggers who continue to craft content that doesn't really sound any different that doesn't really sound any different from what an AI can create these days so

[01:12] work on in fact today I want to show you one of the things that I'm doing to help written or content that I'm writing right now and help ensure that it's

[01:24] helpful likewise helpful content needs to seem helpful according to certain that's what we're going to talk about today is using that criteria but also being able to apply that criteria using AI to help make our content better and

[01:40] to analyze it in a way that's way more objective than we're going to be able to do with our own content so without any further Ado let's dive

[01:52] thing this article was first posted by Google I don't even know when uh but I remember showing it in a video probably like 2 years ago so helpful content's kind of been around and it's something that Google's been trying to push toward

[02:05] however with the Advent of chat GPT going totally open and everybody starting to use it to generate massive amounts of content basically Google had helpful content and I think they had to just like speed it up by a couple of

[02:19] years and that's part of the reason we saw so much change in the serps over the last year and I don't think they're done honestly I think there's a lot of content that's showing up at the top of the serps that is not helpful but a lot

[02:31] of it does meet this criteria so let's look at what some of this criteria look at what some of this criteria is well is it very well defined as is well is it very well defined as criteria not exactly but Google gives us

[02:43] some questions that we can ask ourselves I guess as we review our content to determine if it's helpful or not so let's look at this content and quality questions does it provide original information reporting research or

[02:56] analysis original I think is the key word here it needs to be something that isn't just a replication of other stuff on the web there's really no reason for Google to have 10 articles on the first page of the serp that all say the same

[03:10] just regurgitate what other bloggers have already said does it provide substantial complete or comprehensive description of the topic so does it completely cover the topic does it provide insightful analysis or

[03:23] interesting information Beyond just what's obvious interestingly enough there's a lot of stuff in here as we read through the rest of these questions that an AI is going to have a hard time doing because it can't really experience

[03:36] anything and so it has to just infer stuff from what other people have already said most of the time what AI is going to do is take what's already been other things too that go beyond just like the information that's in the

[03:49] article so is this the sort of page you'd want to bookmark share with a friend or recommend some of these questions are like so subjective that it's really hard to be able to step back and objective look at your content and

[04:01] determine if it actually meets these criteria or not so we're going to go ahead and make this a little bit more objective so this is chat GPT hopefully you've seen this well sort of this is actually a custom GPT

[04:15] that I made that I called helpful content critic it's specifically been trained on the helpful content criteria and it's turned that criteria into and it's turned that criteria into quantifiable actual like specific things

[04:30] and even compare across multiple articles so I can just ask it to do this look I have a blog post for you to review and it's going to say great uh URL so I'm going to go to a blog post that I've already published and you know

[04:45] what to show that I haven't just already done this we're just going to go to page is soup left out overnight safe to eat all right I'm going to copy this article wonder why is it the cook for fol doesn't do great it's because we just

[04:59] still haven't gotten around to properly and even going through the content to make sure that it's helpful okay so we're going to do a little bit of that now we're going to take this article and

[05:13] I'm going to paste it in here and I'm going to get a critique from The Helpful content critic all right there's the review you can see now that what this has done is it's first of all turned those questions into quantifiable

[05:27] criteria expertise and authoritativeness eat maybe content depth and originality engagement in value relevance and Clarity and visual and structural appeal

[05:39] and user Focus versus search engine focus and I get some specific feedback so here content depth and originality suggestions this post covers essential with references to credible sources to improve the post could include more

[05:55] original insights or experiences such as personal tips on identifying spoiled food beyond the basics basically instead of just citing other sources saying this is how other people determine whether or not food is any good we could actually

[06:08] share experiences we could tell a story some pictures of some of those examples if you know you can see things growing in the soup that kind of stuff let's look at engagement and value this is

[06:21] now I've noticed that the Articles I've tested so far the lowest score I'm getting is 7 out of 10 which I find interesting either my critic is too helpful or the blog posts aren't really that bad to start with which may be the

[06:36] pretty well they're just not you know ranking in the top three or the ones that just don't have a whole lot of search volume so let's go uh engagement and value the content is informative and likely valuable to readers concerned

[06:52] the post could benefit from interactive elements like quizzes on food safety or a video demonstrating proper food storage techniques so you can see how I could do to improve this and I could ask it more questions I could say you

[07:06] know where in the article should I insert this video in fact let's do that okay so there's a section where I talk about the danger zone for bacterial growth between 40 and 140 Dees fhe so right after that section it says would

[07:20] the article so here I mentioned it in the very beginning okay here the danger zone so maybe right after that so I've got a soup you know I might actually include it within this section rather than just

[07:37] above it or just after the danger zone somewhere in this section probably would be a good spot so it gave me some advice I'm not sure it's exactly the best advice but it's not bad the cool thing with this is the more I use this custom

[07:50] GPT the more I can go in and make little tweaks and edits to make it function more the way that I want it to and to make it a more useful and a more helpful resource right now I've set it up with the initial functionality to just give

[08:02] it a URL and it'll run that review for me and then I can kind of do some I could ask it all sorts of questions but those are the specific things I've customized this GPT to do however I could also teach it to ask me for two or

[08:15] three URLs in which case I could feed it a few and it would compare those articles to each other and show me maybe how my article Compares this could be particularly useful if I were to do something like this I'm going to take

[08:28] this question and I'm going to Google that question is food is soup left out overnight safe to eat okay I've got a little snippet here from UNL food I've got the kitchen I've got Reddit the daily meal Kora got all these things

[08:42] here it's a while before we get to cook for folks way down here so what I could could compare it from a helpful content standpoint with some of these articles here up at the top and see how they compare to one another and that way I

[08:56] could kind of get an idea of why Google might prefer some of those other articles over mine and I could do it without having to spend a bunch of time we give that a shot even though I haven't exactly trained it to do this of

[09:09] just feed it one of those other articles but I'm going to see if it can just take what I've done already and then compare it to another article okay so I got a result but it's a little different than I wanted because I didn't explicitly

[09:22] tell it to to focus on the helpful content criteria so let's try this again little bit more information the kitchen's article provides a Nuance discussion on the safety of eating soup left out overnight referencing expert

[09:37] deeper dive into the specifics of food safety including the potential for the conditions that might make reheating safe this approach provides readers with risks so it goes into more detail it's more comprehensive which is one of the

[09:52] this with the general guidelines provided in the cook for folks article the kitchen's piece stands out for its depth of anal Anis expert consultation and detailed explanations aligning closely with Google's helpful content

[10:05] criteria by offering original insightful and thoroughly researched information so readers that don't really care about the why and they just want the what and my article would be good enough for them but because I didn't cover the topic

[10:17] comprehensively Google doesn't view it as as authoritative or as as helpful and because of that it didn't rank as high and isn't getting as much traffic let's see now if we can ask the GPT to to give us the scores side by side all right see

[10:32] how helpful that is it's pretty helpful okay now I'm doing this with a custom GPT that I created and this is going to be available for project 24 members as well as for income School insiders again the really cool thing with creating a

[10:46] custom GPT is that you can continue to train it and tweak it and improve the way that it interacts with you and kind of focus on specific nuances of what to look for however you don't have to have anything special and you don't have to

[11:00] pay for special access or any sort of membership to be able to use chat GPT in a way to help you create helpful content Google has given us the recipe they've giving us a list of questions to sort of ask ourselves and think of our content

[11:17] and see you know would you expect to see this in a magazine encyclopedia or a this in a magazine encyclopedia or a book I don't know maybe I don't read that many magazines and nobody reads encyclopedias anymore so while these

[11:29] guidelines do have a lot of really good information sort of packed into them the way they're presented to us in my mind are just not that helpful I'd rather be are just not that helpful I'd rather be given a much more objective list of

[11:42] criteria that I could just say do I meet this criteria or not and that is what chat GPT was able to do was able to take this and very quickly and very easily and then it can take those and apply them to blog post things that we could

[11:57] do ourselves but that would take us a lot longer all right going back to chat GPT I could take this exact same as long as I stay in the same chat window I could take this exact same thing and take the same approach I could ask it

[12:10] for specific ways to improve mine to be able to improve my scores to outrank the other article and if you're having a hard time coming up with ideas for what types of examples to include just ask it when it says give more examples here

[12:23] focus on incorporating more firsthand experiences I could say what types of include in this article experiences where individuals encountered food perishable foods left out for extended periods could be valuable it seems a

[12:36] little bit obvious for this article but it it could be really helpful to get feedback like this uh especially if it's not so obvious to you stories about the food safety guidelines like food poisoning incidents stories are going to

[12:51] take a principle and they're going to make it hit home so much better so much faster for readers and a probably more power ful than just citing a bunch of Statistics that would make the content more helpful actually more helpful not

[13:05] just more helpful but more helpful in part because those stories are going to be a lot more focused on people than they are on search engines which is one of the things Google wants us to do and by focusing more on people and what

[13:20] helps people to remember stuff and to treat important things as important well people too and since people do a lot better job of understanding stories than they do have understanding data you can see why this is maybe a better thing so

[13:34] let's try incorporating helpful stuff a little bit more in our content okay now I said I would talk briefly about income School insiders income School insiders little while but historically it's basically been an email list you join

[13:48] send you an email when we have some piece of content that we're just giving out to you and we give you a link to where you can go find it on our website well we're leveling it up and hopefully quite a bit this is the new Circle

[14:04] Community for project 24 project 24 members are going to have access to tons and tons of stuff communities and courses and everything just like they've always had before but honestly in a much better place and I think with better

[14:17] functionality however there's a section here that's for you and that's totally here that's for you and that's totally free and that is here under insiders if you decide to become an Insider it again will be totally free I'll give you a

[14:30] link in the description of this video as well as I'll pin it in a comment below where you're going to be able to join this community and you'll get access to school there's Channel makers and then there's Creator files inside of these

[14:43] groups you can see this is content that we created and that we published just for insiders but also in this group we're going to be able to start publishing a lot more because once again it's not just an email list it's an
