Ubisoft's $10 Game Blunder — Full Breakdown & Transcript

[00:03] out, dust off your dancing shoes. The GTA 6 extended trailers dropping in a few hours. I'll of course be watch partying it live on the gaming channel. If Jesus Christ resurrected today and decided to stream that event, probably

[00:17] still wouldn't get more viewers than this trailer is about to. It's just [ __ ] preposterous the levels that GTA 6 has reached with hype. So that's like the big news for today. And I doubt anything's going to like dethrone it.

[00:33] But I decided to do a little catching up on things that I've missed over the last on things that I've missed over the last like four to five days because I have been sleepdeprived, bald, injured, horny, and just I've

[00:47] Gamescom, which is like the first Gamescom I haven't actually tuned into. going on in the world and specifically in gaming and I learned that Ubisoft is

[01:00] remaking Heroes of Might and Magic 3. And to celebrate, they re-released the original complete version of the game. Only they forgot to include the game. Unlimited games, but no games. Excited fans forked over $10 only to receive a

[01:17] dummy executable, not the game, and nothing else. So $10 for your imagination, that's what you received from Ubisoft. I can't even really be from Ubisoft. I can't even really be that surprised. Ubisoft always finds new

[01:32] lows to sink to across the board. Whether it's pedalling NFT games [ __ ] five years late, whether it's making bafflingly awful business decisions,

[01:44] everything that trickles down from the upper echelon trogdites that run that company are always impressively delusional and counterintuitive and stupid. It's it's always a remarkable journey watching Ubisoft flounder around

[02:00] and yet still exist. This is a company that is so bent on self-destruction. It's got [ __ ] Voltobs blushing. Like, it is so crazy to me how a company of

[02:12] this size can be mismanaged to a level that they are. And I've yapped about it constantly because it's a neverending soap opera of misery and almost a

[02:24] soap opera of misery and almost a comical level of greed and just ineptitude. And they're also not shy to hide it. They are proud. They puff out their chest for a lot of this [ __ ] such as their famous statement, "Gamers need

[02:38] games." This is a company that can't even accidentally make a good decision. They are deathly allergic to hype. They cannot squeak a W out anywhere. So, during Gamescom, they had the easiest slam dunk imaginable and actually did

[02:55] they're remaking Heroes of Might and Magic 3 set to release in 2027. This is a beloved title. I think most people are familiar with this property. And in 2015, they actually had a re-release of this, but it was content incomplete. It

[03:09] was missing a lot of stuff. So, to get people excited for this remake, they re-releasing the complete version of the original Heroes of Might and Magic 3 on Steam for $10. But then they forgot to

[03:22] include the [ __ ] game. So, they have this big Gamescom announcement. There are people smiling. Ubisoft, you did it. that's something we actually want. And then they go to buy the game and there's nothing. They don't even get the game.

[03:36] a fly on the wall at the Ubisoft Well, it's not a think tank. The absence of thought tank. I would just love to of thought tank. I would just love to see how this clown show unfolds behind

[03:49] the scenes. Man, this [ __ ] circus must be a spectacle. They spend who knows how much time meticulously planning out their Gamescom reveal here. You know, the remake as well as a little happy ending that they want to throw in

[04:01] a cherry on top with the complete edition. $10 on Steam. Great idea. Banger. That's a layup. Let's do it. What do you mean we forgot to include the game? No, no one put the game on Steam. Whoops. Our bad. That's just

[04:16] inexcusable. Do they have no one in place at Ubisoft to ensure things go smoothly anywhere in the pipeline? No one checked to see if the actual game files were uploaded to their Steam listing that they are now selling to

[04:31] listing that they are now selling to customers for $10. No one checks that. Huh? Like I knew this could happen on Steam because I was actually the victim of this a long long time ago. I went Steam dumpster diving and I bought a

[04:43] game but there was no game in it. There was no there was no file to actually anything with it. I just wasted money on something that didn't exist. And that's the only other instance I can think of. I I but I knew this was possible. I just

[04:58] thought it's so unbelievably rare and uncommon and would only ever happen in situations like that with like a one-man development team and the guy just forgot to throw it up there on release day or something. I would have never expected

[05:12] something. I would have never expected aaa gaming company like Ubisoft to just forget the product that they are selling. So I gotta tell you their statement really just ages like wine man only gets better with time. Gamers got

[05:26] to be more comfortable not owning their games. And you can maybe even expand that a bit further. Ubisoft gamers also need to be comfortable not receiving the games that they pay for. Like I understand this was a silly

[05:40] mistake. It has since been fixed, but even still, there's no real justification here. A company of Ubisoft's size making a mistake like this. That's so [ __ ] embarrassing. That's so dumb. I won't harp on it too

[05:54] long, but even Santa Claus gives you a lump of coal when you've been naughty. Ubisoft didn't even do that much for you when you give them money. Now, as I said, I was catching up on things that I missed, notably in the gaming space. I

[06:07] missed, notably in the gaming space. I watched all the E the uh kind of spoiled trailers and the one that actually stood out to me was [ __ ] Gears of War Eday. So, I liked the beta and they showed more during Gamescom from Eay. I really

[06:21] liked what I saw. For the first time in well over 10 years, I'm actually really other good trailers. There were some super stinky ones, but that's the way she always goes when there's a ton of

[06:34] trailers. Some will be good, some will eat [ __ ] I just wanted to highlight Gears of War Eday in particular because this has been a big surprise to me. I had gone into the beta with kind of lukewarm expectations just because Gears

[06:48] long and I really have enjoyed my time with the beta. And then the new stuff they show at Gamescom is also hype. So now I'm getting somewhat cautiously optimistic that the campaign might be

[07:01] good, too. We'll see. Of course, it's not like they showed a ton, but it's expected after the irredeemable dog [ __ ] that was Gears of War 4 and Gears of War 5 campaigns. Holy [ __ ] Toledo, those were terrible. There was one other quick

[07:16] thing that I wanted to touch on. This is like a brand new developing story as of me talking about it. So, not everything's fully confirmed as of the moment, but it's seeming like Cyber Leak, the entity behind the GTA 6 leaks,

[07:31] is now cashing out their crypto. Uh, according to a little investigation being conducted in tracking some of these transactions, it looks like he's pulled out roughly 250k as the coin's been going into a freef fall [ __ ]

[07:44] been going into a freef fall [ __ ] collapse here, eating [ __ ] which isn't super surprising since the GTA 6 extended look trailer is about to drop in a couple of hours. So, it's going to take all the wind out of his sales

[07:57] because now everyone's going to see the new GTA 6 and won't really care about like an old build showcase that they might have. Unless of course he does start spoiling more story stuff, which he's already started tiptoeing around.

[08:11] accurate and he is actually cashing out, it's looking like he's trying to just sail off into the sunset here while it's still somewhat hot and it most likely still somewhat hot and it most likely won't reach the same levels of crazy,

[08:26] you know, mainstream coverage that it has been prior to the trailer's release. So, I just wanted to toss that out there. It's looking more and more like this was someone looking to make a big bag off of whatever footage or potential

[08:40] restricted build they had access to as opposed to someone trying to fight the good fight against these anti-consumer practices from big corporations in the gaming space. Again, the statements weren't wrong about all of the problems

[08:53] weren't wrong about all of the problems and the anti-consumer practices, but shilling a crypto out the wazoo every step of the way, taking in all that money, even trying to charge over $100,000 for ad space on the leaks.

[09:06] Yeah, I think this was someone that was more money voted, more money motivated more money voted, more money motivated as opposed to like an altruistic genuine fight against bad business practices. even if it's something they're calling

[09:19] out, it's very clearly by their actions, not what they were prioritizing. They wanted to make money off it. And I think that's becoming abundantly clear. And a about how like legit this is. No, this crypto is, you know, for the sake of

[09:31] gamers. It's going to help gamers. It's going to be utilized to like really, you know, take a strong fight to these bad practices. I think it's becoming very clear that that was all just [ __ ] hogwash. But again, this is still brand

[09:44] confirmed that this is Cyber Leap that's taking this money out or anything. We'll out here because that is something that's very interesting. And with the GTA 6 extended trailer dropping, I imagine it's going to take a lot of the

[09:58] imagine it's going to take a lot of the oomph out of whatever leaks Cyber Leak may still have at their disposal. So, I wanted to briefly mention that. Anyway, wanted to briefly mention that. Anyway, that's really about it. Tip.
