36:27[00:01] talking about Coinbase here on YouTube and over on my blog investing tutorial, we're going to be covering everything you need to know to get to open up an account, how to place your first trade, and some brand new features
[00:15] like their stock trading functionality and prediction markets. Now, a lot of beginners tutorial, so if you appreciate that, please drop a like and subscribe. And there's a table of contents down below if you want to skip ahead. Let's
[00:30] account with Coinbase. They've actually partnered with my channel and offer my audience a free Bitcoin bonus when you open up a new account and place your my link down below or visit ryanoscribner.com/coinbase
[00:45] to get your free Bitcoin bonus. Now, the account opening requirements are going viewers, but for those watching from the US, this is going to require a valid social security number, government ID, full legal name, and a few other
[00:59] details. And in addition, you do have to at least be 18 years old. And you might information here, but this is actually required by law to open almost any financial account today because Coinbase has to verify your identity and collect
[01:14] your information for KYC or know your customer laws. But now, let's go through how to link a bank account, placing your first trade, and all of that. And real that I'm not a financial advisor and this isn't personalized financial
[01:30] advice. Cryptocurrency investing in general is risky and you should always do your own due diligence before investing. All right, guys, so the first chart at the very top of the Coinbase app. This is going to show you the
[01:42] overall performance of the assets that you own in Coinbase, and this is going to be a combination of potentially crypto, stocks, prediction market investments or trades, and things like that. And if you click on these
[01:55] you the performance. Now, this is just a demo portfolio I've set up with a little bit of Bitcoin, but right now we are in so we are seeing that there is a sell-off taking place. Over the last
[02:08] week, we're down 7.43%. We can take a look at the last month and going in and out of this account, so this isn't all just market performance. places here to track the performance of your cryptocurrency and stock portfolio
[02:25] if you make those different investments here. Now, below that, you're going to potential assets that you might own. So, this only owns cryptocurrency and a little bit of cash, but we can click on each one of these and it brings us to
[02:38] that section of Coinbase. So, clicking here on crypto, this is going to show the different cryptos that I own here. It's mostly Bitcoin and a couple of other small coins I earned during one of their earn promotions where you can
[02:50] basically get free cryptocurrencies for learning about different cryptos. Um, I'll talk about where that is in the app later on. But for now, we're going to take a look at the other sections. There's also the predictions markets,
[03:04] and this is where you can place bets on sporting events, what's going to happen in crypto markets, entertainment, elections, mention markets, politics, commodities, and tons of other different categories. Now, we're not going to get
[03:17] into much detail here, but I will just show you for example, if we click on elections, you can see different options here for placing bets on various elections. For example, the Los Angeles mayor winner, who's going to win here,
[03:30] and then the two options are listed there. Um, if you click into this, you can then see more details about how the bets are being placed, and this one has multiple different candidates, but um, it's essentially a place where you can
[03:42] bet on these outcomes, and then if your bet ends up being more in favor, the value could rise and you can sell for potentially more money, or if you hold it all the way to the end and you're right about your prediction, then you
[03:55] would have um the maximum potential gains here from that bet. And you can also view over time how those odds have changed. So, if you are interested in prediction markets, you can now find this built right into the Coinbase app.
[04:09] much detail on that just so we can cover all of the different features here. And then real quick, we'll just take a look at um economics. So, for example, if you wanted to vote on the Fed rate decision, uh we can see here for example, it's
[04:23] very likely that the Fed is going to uh maintain their current rate as opposed to a cut or a hike. And we can see how that has changed over time there, uh especially with inflation picking up. So, somebody who may have placed this
[04:35] bet early on, at one point it was a 45% chance of the Fed maintaining that rate back in February, but now we're looking at 97%. So, you could have potentially made money there by taking that bet early on. But, that's just the basics of
[04:49] how these prediction markets work. Um going back to the main page here again, the next one below that is going to be stocks. Now, I don't personally own any stocks in Coinbase, but this is one of the newest features. So, they're really
[05:02] looking to become an all-in-one asset platform where you can invest in pretty much anything that you might want to own within the Coinbase ecosystem. So, you can now make trades here for stocks and ETFs. For example, we'll click here on
[05:16] Micron Technology. And you do have to agree to some basic stuff here. So, we'll click on the get started button to access stock trading. And it is going to require a uh you know, a separate screening tool here with a questionnaire
[05:28] go through all of this right now, so I'll just click on the X. And we'll just take a look at the basics here of stock trading. There's a similar chart here to different stocks. For example, Micron Technology is on fire right now. They
[05:42] recently exceeded a $1 trillion market cap here with all of the excitement and interest related in these AI-related companies. There's an about section their market cap and things like that listed below. You would have to unlock
[05:56] stocks if you want to place a trade, but that is something that you might be interested in doing here if you are looking to make this a all-in-one now, we're just going to leave it at
[06:08] that's available here to you if you're interested. Below that is the cash section, and this is going to bring up an interesting here that you might be wondering about because throughout the Coinbase ecosystem, you're going to see
[06:21] the actual US currency or government fiat currency listed here, United States dollar, or it could be different for various countries, and then USDC. And a lot of people wonder what exactly is the difference here. Well, USDC is
[06:36] going to be the stablecoin here, US dollar coin, and essentially that's going to allow you to earn USDC rewards. You can see below that it earns an You can see below that it earns an unlimited 3.5% APY. You do have to be in
[06:49] Coinbase One to earn those rewards, which is their subscription service. We'll talk about that in a little bit. But if you have a large balance here and you're looking to cut down on trading fees, Coinbase One might be worth it to
[07:01] know here is that USDC is going to be the stablecoin the balance here in your portfolio. It may allow you to earn USDC rewards, and then United States dollar is going to be actual government fiat currency. And if you're looking to
[07:16] for example, you would need to make sure you're holding United States dollar to transfer that to your bank account. But for the most part, these two are viewed as equivalent, and you may use these interchangeably throughout the app.
[07:29] People may choose to hold USDC if they're just keeping idle money on the sidelines and plan to swap it back into cryptocurrency in the near future, or if they're looking to earn those potential rewards on that balance. Moving on now,
[07:44] that we have the option for derivatives, and this is another new section here to the Coinbase app. Now, crypto derivatives on Coinbase are futures and perpetual contracts that let you use leverage, which means you can magnify
[07:58] your potential gains or losses. For example, this Bitcoin perpetual here is a 4x, so you would basically have a 4x multiple on what's happening with the underlying price of Bitcoin. We're not going to get into these here because I
[08:12] think this is very risky territory, any type of margin or leverage investing, but in the interest of showing you the entire app, I did want to show you this here. And if we click on the explore all button, we're also going to find options
[08:24] here outside of just cryptocurrencies. For example, there is a 19x multiple or leverage on gold futures, uh 9x on silver futures, so you can trade
[08:36] cryptos, you can trade metals here. You can trade um energy prices as well. Uh I'll just disable these so we're just looking at energy. So, you could trade
[08:48] oil futures, natural gas futures, as well as um stocks futures here as well. It is a little bit more limited on stocks to just the magnificent seven futures. So, that's where you would go if you're looking to trade futures
[09:01] contracts, perpetuals, and that kind of thing. Uh but again, it is very risky, and anytime you're involving margin, you can also um you know, multiply your potential losses. And especially when the crypto market is in a bit of a bear
[09:15] market or crypto winter, this would not be the ideal time, if there ever was a time, to have leverage on your crypto investments. But we'll click on the back for now and uh go back to the home page, and that covers the basic sections here.
[09:28] Below that, we have earn, and this is where you can go into the staking section of Coinbase, so I'll go ahead and click into that. And this is where you can essentially uh stake your cryptocurrency or there is crypto
[09:41] lending available for certain users or you can earn cash by essentially having USDC deposits. So, this is going to show you all of the potential ways to earn a yield on your stablecoins or cryptocurrencies, but you would want to
[09:54] look into these individually and make sure you understand the upside and risks staking section first, we're going to click here on start and we're going to click on buy and stake just so it shows us the different assets available. This
[10:09] is where you're essentially putting up your tokens to essentially help the overall network with validating transactions and things like that. There aware of, but this is just giving you a list here of the staking options
[10:23] available. There are 10 cryptocurrencies you can stake here on Coinbase and it shows you the current APYs from the lowest to the highest here listed at the top. So, if you are interested in staking, there are some options
[10:36] available here. It's not the smallest list. It's also not the biggest. It fits going to go back to the home page for now and the next thing I want to show you real quick is just how to use the advanced section of Coinbase. A lot of
[10:48] actually have an advanced trading platform built right into the same exact application. So, if I click in the three lines here in the top left, we can see turn that on, it's going to bring us over to Coinbase advanced which is just
[11:04] going to give you more advanced charting, potentially a wider access to more cryptocurrencies, and it can also give you lower trading commissions, but specifics about that as I can't remember off the top of my head what that looks
[11:18] like. But if we click here on the trade button, it's going to bring us to the more advanced order side here on the advanced version of the app and you can see here there's going to be different types of orders available and you also
[11:31] on the right and you can also take a look at charting, look at candlestick charts, and just get more advanced features overall. So, if you are looking to trade cryptocurrencies, this can be especially helpful. And it's even more
[11:47] advanced on the desktop version of the app. So, just keep that in the back of covering Coinbase mobile, you also have access to a full-blown desktop web-based platform by visiting coinbase.com.
[12:00] And if we toggle over here from trade over to charts, we can see that they also have advanced charting available here like we were talking about, but you can even add technical indicators or turn certain ones off, and you can look
[12:12] at different types of charts available here as well. If you want line charts, different types of candlestick charts, and things like that. But, that's the here. So, we're just going to click back on the three bars, turn off the advanced
[12:25] mode, and go through the rest of the app features. If we scroll down, the next tab, which is going to show you the major cryptocurrencies. You can also that you want to keep track of. And below that, you're going to see the
[12:40] performance of your cryptocurrency portfolio as far as what's going on across the current trading day. There's another link below here for various sections we've already covered like the derivatives, prediction markets, stocks,
[12:53] the cash section, the earn section, and all of that. So, that's the extent here of the home page. The next tab over is going to be the explore tab, and this can be useful for a number of different reasons. If you're looking to keep track
[13:07] of the overall crypto market, we can see top trading volume here listed. So, this is going to be whatever is having the most trading volume over the last 24 hours. For example, Bitcoin has traded 33 billion in the last 24 hours, and
[13:21] then you can click here on top gainers if you want to see what is going up the most right now. Top losers is going to show you uh whatever is dropping, and you can also uh take a look here at the crypto market update, which is
[13:34] AI-generated, and this is going to help you to have an update on what's going on in the overall crypto market. So, for example, it says Bitcoin funds see longest withdrawal streak on record, Stripe's stablecoin fueled chain uh
[13:46] conducts 3.9 million transactions, and Intercontinental Exchange CEO praises more to it. I won't read the entire synopsis here, but you can get updates about what's going on in the market here, and just keep track of uh the
[14:01] overall market performance. This can be helpful just to see what's going on in the broader crypto market. So, we are still seeing a bit of a sell-off. Uh the overall market cap of the entire crypto market has sold off about 2.77%
[14:15] uh on elevated trading volume, but if you look at the buy ratio here, at least on Coinbase, 76% are buying. So, it could be a case where retail investor is buying, and possibly uh larger institutional investors, or those who
[14:29] are invested in crypto ETFs, are selling right now. But, this is where you can get, you know, valuable insights like that on what's happening in the broader market. Below that, we can get similar info on stocks, derivatives, and that's
[14:41] the extent here of the explore page. And you can also click on the top here to take a look at similar sections that we've seen before, derivatives, uh commodities, and a lot of this, guys, is going to navigate you back to the same
[14:53] section. It's just shortcuts placed in different locations. We already talked another option here at the bottom middle to get more details on that. So, we're just going to skip over that for now. The next tab over is the Coinbase One
[15:08] credit card. Now, I do have a specific video just about this that I'll put in but this is basically going to allow you to earn a Bitcoin reward here for your credit card spending. And the reward tier is different based on how much you
[15:23] have in assets with Coinbase. So, it starts at a base 2%. It jumps up to 2.5% if you have 10,000 of assets with Coinbase, 3% for over 50k, and 4% if you
[15:35] have over 200,000 of assets held in your Coinbase account. So, if you are interested in this, you can explore that more. You do have to be a Coinbase One member in order to access this card, but if you do have that membership, there is
[15:48] no annual fee with Coinbase One, and there are some other benefits here like no foreign transaction fees, pre-approval with no credit score But, just to cover more details about Coinbase One, we're going to click on
[16:02] the three lines here in the top left, and then choose Coinbase One. And this offerings. Now, there are multiple tiers, so we're going to click on view all plan benefits and plans here. And there is a basic version, a preferred,
[16:16] and a premium version. So, the basic version is going to be $4.99 a month. It's going to get you up to $500 a month with zero trading fees. You can earn up to 4% Bitcoin back with the credit card. So, if you wanted to have access to that
[16:31] card at the lowest cost, this could be an option here. And then you can earn the 3.5% USDC rewards that way and receive a few other benefits. Now, preferred is going to be the most popular option. This gets you up to
[16:44] $10,000 a month with zero trading fees. Now, a spread does apply, which is going be a difference between the current bid and ask price or what people are buying and selling for. We'll talk about that more when we actually place a trade, but
[16:58] The main difference between basic and preferred is the higher dollar limit here with zero trading fees applied. And the preferred membership here is $29.99 a month, and there might also be an annual plan at a discounted rate. And
[17:12] then the premium membership gives you unlimited zero trading fees. So, if you're trading a very large volume of cryptocurrencies, this might be worthwhile. This is going to be just under $300 a month and it's meant for
[17:24] power users who are probably trading cryptocurrencies every single day or doing a very large volume where this is going to offset those fees or maybe you have a very large balance of USDC, for example,
[17:37] you're earning rewards on. There are some other benefits like more rewards on But, most people are going to look at looking to trade a high volume or a medium volume of cryptocurrencies
[17:50] without fees. And the basic version here is most likely for those who just want to earn USDC rewards on their balance and have access to that Bitcoin credit card and maybe they're doing a small volume of transactions that they don't
[18:03] actually want to pay fees on. But, that's the gist here of Coinbase One. last section over here, which is the payment section. And this is where you can either request payments or issue payments using US dollar coin. A lot of
[18:16] people don't realize this, but stablecoins are increasingly becoming a medium for peer-to-peer payments. So, that is built right in over here if you're looking to use this as like a Venmo or PayPal alternative. This can be
[18:28] especially helpful if you're looking to send or receive payments to somebody who might not be in the United States or maybe you have Venmo limits or things like that you're looking to get around. That can be another option here is the
[18:41] pay feature here built within Coinbase. All right, guys. So, that covers the basic tour of the app features. Let's now talk about how you would link a bank account. To do this, you're going to click on the three lines in the top left
[18:53] and then we're going to click on my name here at the very top to enter account settings. And then we're going to select payment methods. And this is going to show us a list of our current payment methods. Now, I already have my bank
[19:05] linked at the top and we also have my Apple Pay linked and it shows the various limits to the right as far as deposit limits. but if you wanted to add an additional payment method, you would click on that button here, and then you
[19:17] can choose various options. You can add a bank account, you can add a debit card, you can link PayPal, or you can do a wire transfer. If you're looking to here at the very top, and they're going to use Plaid as a third party for this,
[19:32] which will allow you to link your bank account immediately by just verifying your login information for your bank. Or, if you already have used Plaid, you can just use your phone number, and it's going to automatically bring up a list
[19:44] of your financial accounts, and then you can move money over immediately. Now, steps just because my bank is already linked, but that's how you would do that. And if you wanted to link a debit card, you would just click on add
[19:57] payment method, select debit card, and then enter those details here, click on add card, and then you should also be able to do an instant deposit mechanism there. That way you can invest those funds immediately. So, now let's talk
[20:11] about how to buy cryptocurrencies using the Coinbase app. We're going to scroll down here to the crypto section and select that, and this is going to show the various cryptocurrencies I own in this portfolio, and we are going to do
[20:23] the OG, the most popular here, which is Bitcoin, and click here at the very top. Now, similar to the front page, the home screen where we saw the price chart, there's going to be a chart at the top here of every single asset, and we'll
[20:37] take a look here at the performance of Bitcoin. So, right now we are still continuing a sell-off, and we're at about 71.3. And if we take a look at the one-year chart here, I mean, Bitcoin was at a high here of around 126,000. Now,
[20:50] we're back down to 71,000. So, that's a pretty decent drop, but a lot of people pattern to what we've seen happen before. If we click on the all-time chart, taking a look at what happened back here in 2020, we saw a big run-up
[21:05] in the price, and then it did have a double peak pretty much here around the same price level, and then it sold off, and we had a crypto winter here in 2022 before rallying to new heights. It could be a potentially similar pattern that
[21:19] has played out here in the most recent uh bull and then bear market here with cryptocurrencies. So, potentially we may see a higher price in the future after we consolidate for a while um based on this pattern, but guys, that's just a
[21:33] very, very basic prediction and not uh investment advice or anything like that. cryptocurrency prices can be extremely volatile. But, we have seen a potential, what we've seen happen before. But, what I always like to tell people, would you
[21:49] rather buy Bitcoin when it was at 120,000 or over six figures, or when it's at a price like this? It could go lower, it could go higher, but you're going to be able to get more Bitcoin for the same amount of dollars when you're
[22:02] buying at a lower price. So, yes, it can be scary to look at charts like this, term, you would rather be able to buy more of it than buy less of it with that same $100 investment, for example. But,
[22:15] second and talk about what cryptocurrency is available for purchase. So, if I click here on the buy button and then click on buy crypto, this is going to show us a list of the different cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin gets
[22:29] actually over 200 different cryptocurrencies available for trading through Coinbase, and you might even find even more through the advanced section of the app, and then through Base, their self-custody wallet. And we
[22:43] will talk about that a little bit at the end here, but Base is basically their self-custody wallet where if you want to actually take custody of your cryptocurrencies, hold your secret phrase yourself, you can do that through
[22:55] Base. And I have a full tutorial of Base I'll put in the corner as well, and link to down in the description below if you're interested in their self-custody here quick just to show you the very large list of cryptocurrencies. A lot of
[23:10] these are altcoins or alternatives to Bitcoin that are probably not investment-grade in my opinion. Um I have always been a fan of just owning Bitcoin, maybe potentially Ethereum. I also own a little bit of XRP, uh but I
[23:24] don't really get into altcoins. I think they are highly speculative. But, even cryptocurrency in general is still a speculative asset, and it's something people need to be comfortable with and familiar with before diving into this
[23:36] asset class. But, we'll click into Bitcoin here and now make a purchase here of Bitcoin just so you are aware of the steps involved. And guys, I did want to mention one other video that I have if you are still new to cryptocurrency
[23:49] and don't understand why something like Bitcoin has value. I did a near 40-minute long, almost like a college lecture here on why Bitcoin has value, Bitcoin explained. So, if you're looking for an in-depth, like college course on
[24:02] why Bitcoin has value, I'll put a card for that video in the corner as well in would highly recommend checking that out. And it's really important to educate yourself on why Bitcoin and crypto has value before investing
[24:15] because understanding it is what's going to help you ride out the lows which do happen in the crypto markets. Real quick, I just want to show you the order types here in the top right. So, by default, we are doing a quick buy which
[24:27] is going to be like a market order that just means it's going to execute as soon as possible at the current price. But, you can also do a limit order if you're looking to specify the exact price. So, for example, if you wanted to buy $50 of
[24:40] Bitcoin if it hit 70,000, you can set a limit order, and it means that Bitcoin would have to drop about 1.9% and it would only buy at 70,000 or lower. You can also do these on the sell side, but that's how you can have very
[24:55] specific execution of your order and choose the exact price you want to pay. The only downside to this is there's no guarantee that Bitcoin drops to 70,000, actually goes through. The other order type I want to show you is a recurring
[25:09] buy. So, if you want to automate your crypto investing, you could do a daily, weekly, twice a month, or monthly buy. So, if you wanted to put $100 a week into Bitcoin, you could set that accordingly, and then you could buy $100
[25:23] every single week and follow a strategy of dollar cost averaging in buying Bitcoin on a scheduled basis. But, for this, we're just going to do a quick buy, and we're going to purchase $20 worth of Bitcoin for demo purposes. So,
[25:37] I'll go ahead and back this out, and we're going to do 20. Now, by default, it's set to buy with my cash US dollar balance, but I don't have enough. I only have a $1.41. So, if I click this, I can then select my bank account here and
[25:49] account. So, that's one of the cool to transfer money over first if you don't want to. You can just issue a buy right from your linked bank account or debit card if you want to. From here,
[26:03] button, and this says we're going to buy $20 worth of Bitcoin. It shows the current Bitcoin price. It's going to be available to trade instantly, available to transfer instantly, and it is going to change around as the price changes.
[26:16] But, real quick, I want to talk about the fee. So, it mentions at the bottom it includes a 1% spread, and that means it could be plus or minus 1% of the current price here in terms of what it is showing you for the actual quote
[26:30] price and what Bitcoin's current price is. And that's because of just how volatile cryptocurrencies can be. So, the price is jumping around all the time, and Coinbase does make a profit on this spread, but it also allows them to
[26:43] offer you a guaranteed price for a split second here, even though Bitcoin is changing around every microsecond. So, that's part of why there's a spread. It needs to be built in for them to offer you this price that's even, you know,
[26:56] then in addition to that, there is a dollar-based fee that's paid. In this case, it's 37 cents. But again, if you're trading a high volume or even a medium volume, you might leverage Coinbase One to get around those fees.
[27:10] this can actually pay for itself potentially. But what we're going to do is click here on the buy now button. And click here on done, it's going to bring us back to the home page. And we're
[27:23] going to navigate back to the Bitcoin section of the app. And then if I scroll down, we're going to see I own uh 114.11. So, we actually caught it as it updated and added that new Bitcoin to our portfolio. So, this is how you're
[27:37] going to track the performance and see if you're making or losing money. So, for example, on this Bitcoin that I own, today's return, I'm down 2.69%. But my unrealized return, I'm only down 2.22%. So, in this demo portfolio, I am
[27:53] pretty close to the current price of Bitcoin. My average cost is 73,116 and some change. And we're currently at 71.4. So, I am down a little bit on my Bitcoin investment here, but not a ton. That's where you can track if you're
[28:07] making or losing money. Um and it also shows my portfolio allocation is currently 97.5% Bitcoin. So, that's going to be a very useful section here for you to just track what's going on with your
[28:20] investment. And real quick, guys, if you click on the insights tab, you can get details about Bitcoin. There's an about section, key statistics. The buy ratio is 75% of people are buying. So, a lot of the Coinbase users are bullish and
[28:33] buying as opposed to selling. So, that's going to be predominantly the retail investors. And then similar to the market insights, there's also going to be AI insights available for Bitcoin and the other major cryptocurrencies, where
[28:46] you can just get an update on what's going on with the price and what might be causing the price action. So, let's now talk about how to send and receive do this, you're going to need to use something called your wallet address.
[29:00] And we're going to locate that now for our US dollar coin because we're going to be sending over some US dollar coin from my Gemini account over to Coinbase. find that under the cash section of the app and then click on USDC. And then
[29:16] we're going to click on the transfer button here and we want to select receive cryptocurrency. So, when we click on that, it's going to bring us to our section to choose the network. US dollar coin runs on multiple networks.
[29:29] Um this I know is an Ethereum network. So, we're going to click on Ethereum at the very top. And then this is going to show you a disclaimer here that you have to use the Ethereum network. No problem there. You just want to make sure you're
[29:41] sending something with multiple always send a small amount first to make sure that it is um the right network and recommended, guys. But we're going to click here on the got it button. This
[29:55] but I'm just going to click on the copy button. And we have now copied our receiving wallet address for US dollar coin. Over here in my Gemini app, I'm going to scroll down here to my US dollar coin balance. I have 64 and some
[30:10] change there. And then I'm going to click on the transfer button. And in this case, I want to withdraw. And then we have to select the network. So, we're going to use the Ethereum network. It's the same one as before. And now we are
[30:22] going to enter a new address. I'm going to click on that button. And I'm just going to paste in the address that I copied from Coinbase. And then it's going to automatically continue. And it says valid address, which is great. So,
[30:35] we'll click here on continue. And then we enter the amount that we're looking to send over. So, in this case, I'm going to send 50 US dollar coins to my 49.98 after accounting for the slight
[30:49] deviation in price and potentially the fees involved. I'll click here on the review button. And then we do have to check these boxes saying that we agree these yourself if you're actually, you know, sending your own cryptocurrency.
[31:04] Click on acknowledge and proceed. And on this page here it mentions, "Okay, so the network fee here." So, we're going to pay about 73 cents for this transaction. Um and if everything looks good, we'll click on the confirm button.
[31:18] And then we get a check here that says, "USD has been sent or the sent has been requested or send rather." Um and this is going to take about 5 minutes based on the quote we were given there from the Ethereum network. So, I'll click on
[31:31] the done button and then we will take a look here on the um Coinbase app and watch for that to come over. Okay, guys, so it's been just a few minutes here and the US dollar coin has come over to the Coinbase account. If I scroll down to
[31:43] cash, we can see 52.16 is listed. So, I'll go ahead and click on that. And then I'll select USDC at the top. And this is going to show us the balance listed there. And if I scroll down, we can see transactions and it mentions
[31:57] here that we received $50 in US dollar coin today. So, it took just a few minutes and then the money sent over. Now, if you're looking to send money from Coinbase to another wallet, you would just click here on the transfer
[32:10] button and then select the send crypto button. Now, it doesn't allow me to record this section because of privacy reasons. So, I'm not going to go through all of the steps here. But it's going to look exactly the same as what you saw
[32:23] receiving address that you copy and paste in. You're going to choose your network and then you're going to go ahead and approve the transaction next thing I want to cover here is how to actually sell a cryptocurrency that
[32:37] you own in your Coinbase portfolio. So, let's say for example, you're looking to there was a profit here and that we're not on a down day in the market and money back over to your bank account. We're going to click here on crypto and
[32:52] the really the only balance that I can sell off here is my Bitcoin, so I'll select Bitcoin at the very top and then we're going to click on the buy and sell button at the bottom right. And at this point we would actually choose sell.
[33:05] And just like with the buy menu before, you have a very similar menu here and you also have the different order types if you want to do a limit order and specify the price or in this case we're just going to do a quick sell. And you
[33:17] do have the option of where you are selling that balance off to. By default, it's the cash US dollar balance, so if you're looking to send that money back to your bank account, that's what you'd want to have selected, but they also
[33:29] have the ability to change this and sell over to your US dollar coin balance if you want to potentially reinvest that money quickly or earn that USDC rewards balance. But we're going to leave it as is and sell to the cash US dollar
[33:43] balance. We're going to sell off $10 worth and click on the review order button and this is including a spread just like before of 1% and a 19 cent fee and then we're going to click on the sell now button and it says order
[33:58] done and then we're going to click on the home button and navigate back down to our cash balance. And we now have a United States dollar balance of $11.22
[34:12] and we can see the transaction listed here and we had a credit now of $9.81. transfer this money back to your bank account immediately and that's because
[34:24] you have to wait a few business days for the transaction to actually settle, but I will show you the steps involved here and I should have enough to show you how to withdraw $1 because I had some settled funds in this account. But just
[34:36] starting from the home screen, so we have all of the steps, you would click on the cash button here, and then you would select your United States dollar balance, and then you would click on withdraw. And this is going to bring you
[34:49] to the withdraw section, and unfortunately, I'm not able to take a screen recording here because of the similar privacy reasons, but I will try to take some screenshots or somehow show you what's going on with the screen here
[35:02] video. On the next screen here, you would have the option to choose what you are withdrawing from, and by default, it is your United States dollar balance. And in this case, I could actually withdraw the entire 1122 available. So,
[35:16] funds to settle. I was used to the old version of Coinbase where that was the dollar amount you're looking to withdraw. I'm going to do $1 for example, and then you would click on the preview button. And on the next screen,
[35:31] it's going to show you the option. So, you can do a instant withdraw, which is going to come with some fees, or you can do a standard 1 to 3 business day withdraw. I'm going to do a standard for no fees, and then you would click on the
[35:44] withdraw now button at the bottom, and that would send those funds back over to your bank account. The last thing I want to show you here guys are some important settings you might want to utilize to safeguard your account. We're going to
[35:57] left, and then click on my name at the very top, and then we're going to click on security. And this is going to show us a couple of things. So, by default, I You're going to want to have this turned on. So, I'm just going to click into
[36:12] that, and you have the option to do the authenticator app. You can do push notifications across various logins of your Coinbase app, text messages. And another thing I recommend here is this trusted contacts. So, if we click on
[36:27] this, this is where you can actually have emails that you enter. Uh this could be a family member, a spouse, a friend, and things like that. And then you can set approval rules. So, for example, and the way I have it set up
[36:39] just for demo purposes is uh any um transfers over $500 would require approval from at least two of my trusted contacts. So, if somebody was looking to send a large amount of crypto out of my Coinbase account, I would need to then
[36:54] have the person log in to both of those emails and approve the transaction for really lock down your account and safeguard it, that is one of the options that you have available is this trusted contacts section. Um but I would just
[37:09] recommend at the very basics coming into here and enabling text message require that anyway and potentially adding the Google Authenticator uh just to make sure you have safeguarded your account in the best way possible. And
[37:23] any point you think there's something suspicious going on with your Coinbase account, come into this section. There's a lock account button and it's going to lock your account entirely. No new transactions can occur and to unlock
[37:37] your account, you'll need to verify your ID with a selfie and a video of yourself and your ID. So, this is a great thing to keep in mind if you're ever seeing something suspicious or you have a login that you don't recognize, lock your
[37:49] you could always unlock the account later on. And then one more thing here guys, in this menu, we will see an option for the Base app. If I scroll bottom and that's actually going to bring me into my Base version of the
[38:05] app. I have a very small amount over here for uh demo purposes. And this is their self-custody version of the app. So, this is where you can actually take custody of your cryptocurrencies. You would hold the actual secret phrase here
[38:18] and I again, I have a full tutorial on the Base app if you want to learn more about that. Um this is also going to allow for a wider selection of cryptocurrency trading through the swap feature, but base is operated by
[38:30] Coinbase. It just allows you to be the custodian rather than trusting the exchange. The base app is considered to be a hot wallet because it's connected to the internet, but another thing you may want to look into yourself is cold
[38:43] storage uh using a hardware wallet, and that would allow you to keep your cryptocurrencies offline. There are a different set of risks involved with self-custody, and you want to look into all of these risks on your own as far
[38:55] as, you know, exchange risk if you do decide to leave your crypto on Coinbase and self-custody risks and things that you'd want to know and be familiar with before storing a large amount of cryptocurrency either on exchange or
[39:08] through any type of self-custody route. But, there you have it, guys. That's a running with the Coinbase app. If you made it to the end of the video, make sure you drop a like and subscribe if you haven't already. And give yourself a
[39:20] pat on the back for getting started on your crypto investing journey. If you're crypto platforms and exchanges and compare various fees and things like that, you can click below to watch my next video on the best crypto platforms.
