Free Claude Code is INSANE!

[00:02] that in the most literal way possible, because most people watching this have no idea there are five different doors into Claude Code that cost you nothing. of them in this video. Then I'm going to show you the thing I built with it. It

[00:26] Let's start with the part almost nobody knows. Claude Code itself is free to download, free to install, costs nothing. You can put it on a Mac, a Windows machine, or a Linux machine today. Anthropic's own setup docs list

[00:38] there's a native installer now, so you anything technical if you don't want to. There's also a version that runs in your There's also a version that runs in your browser. You go to claude.ai/code

[00:50] And it works off the same account you already have. So, what actually costs Claude reads a file or writes something for you, that's the part that gets counted. The tool is free. The brain behind it is what you need access to.

[01:04] not going to lie to you to get a click. Anthropic's docs say straight out that the free Claude plan does not include Claude Code. That's the official line. Anthropic-run doors that get you in for free anyway. Five of them. Most people

[01:18] know about zero. Door one, guest passes. There's a command inside Claude Code called {slash}passes. It lets someone share a free guest pass with a friend, a free week of Claude Code. People on the top Max plans get three of them. And

[01:30] full days of Claude Pro, including Claude Code and the newest models. Seven days, full access, not a cut-down demo. are some, the pass only works for people

[01:42] subscription. And claiming one usually needs a card on file. So, if you take day six. If you know anyone on the top tier, ask them to type {slash}passes. three sitting there unused because they've never seen the command. Door

[03:46] Northeastern was the first confirmed design partner, East, around 50,000 students and staff across 13 campuses. If your school is on the list, it's free to you. The school and Anthropic sort it out between them. Go ask your IT office.

[03:58] That's a 2-minute email, and it might hand you a year of access. Door four, launched a Claude for open-source program back in late February. Qualifying maintainers get 6 months of the top max tier completely free. 6

[04:12] sells to individuals. That's the biggest free program they run. Door five, starter credits. When you make a new account on Anthropic's platform, they hand you a small part of free starter credits. No card needed. Those credits

[04:26] connects through the same door. It won't last forever, but it's more than enough to install it, point it at a folder on your laptop, and watch it actually do this before, is the moment everything

[04:38] actually did with mine. Quick one before I show you the dashboard. I built a system called the Agent OS. It's a mission control dashboard that runs on my own laptop, powered by Claude Code, and it runs my agents in the background

[05:05] is one agent. Each agent has a job. I can see what every single one is doing wake one up, I can give one a new job in plain English and walk away. They run on And this is the bit that trips people up, so let me say it plainly. Claude

[05:19] Code just for writing code. It reads files on your computer. It writes files. That's the whole shape of it. So, when I say agent, I mean a small worker that puts the result in a folder. Here's one of mine, and it's dead simple. Every

[05:35] week it reads the questions people posted inside the Boardroom, groups the ones that keep coming up, and drops me a short list of what our next tutorials whole agent, and it saves me hours of scrolling.

[05:47] call, one agent takes the recording, pulls out the steps we walked through, and writes them up as a clean checklist for members who couldn't make it live. You don't need to code to want either of those. You just need a job that repeats.

[06:00] time? Because Claude Code got a lot better in the last few weeks, and the timing matters. Anthropic released Claude Opus 5 on July 24th. It's now the default Opus model inside Claude Code with a 1 million token context window.

[06:14] In plain English, it can hold a lot more of your stuff in its head at once. Whole folders, long documents, all of it. Then there's this one, and it's my favorite. Agents can now spawn their own helper agents three levels deep. It used to be

[06:26] one. Think about what that does. You give one agent a big job, it splits the job up and hands pieces to smaller agents. Those can hand out pieces, too. One instruction from you, a little team underneath it. Claude Code on desktop

[06:38] pull up a page and interact with it the same way it does with your files. So, an of guessing. There's a slash doctor that finds problems and can fix them for you, which sounds boring until it's

[06:52] 11:00 p.m. and something's broken. And on July 23rd, Anthropic put out a Claude security plugin in beta that scans your work for problems right from the this month. Now, I know what some of you are thinking because I thought it, too.

[07:05] This all sounds great until you hit a wall and it stops working. Fair. Let me be straight with you. Every Claude plan counts your usage two ways, a rolling 5-hour window and a weekly ceiling on top. And it's shared with your normal

[07:17] for two or three days, the week can be gone while the shorter meter still looks On the free routes, it's tighter still. A few prompts and you're waiting. That's But here's why I still think the free doors matter more than the limits. The

[07:32] on what you learn. You can spend one free week understanding how these agents actually work, how to write the instruction file, how to give an agent a to run on a schedule. That knowledge doesn't expire when your week does, and

[07:46] it's the exact same knowledge whether you're on the free week or the top tier. Most people never get that week because nobody told them the doors existed. Now this is heading because the direction is very clear. Anthropic pushed Claude

[07:59] Code, their agent for normal office work, not just coding, onto web and mobile on July 7th. You can start a task at your desk, get updates on your phone, and pick up the finished work later with your laptop shut. Laptop shut, work

[08:12] still happening, and Service Now is now running Claude Code across 29,000 employees for development work. That's not a pilot with five people. That's a whole company. Anthropic even published the story of how Claude Code went from a

[08:24] scrappy internal tool to a real product. It started as something their own engineers built for themselves. Now it's running inside enormous companies. So the tool is getting better every single week. The free doors are open right now,

[08:36] and the gap between people who know how to point an agent at a job and people who don't is getting wider by the month. That's the whole reason I built the Agent OS instead of just using Claude Code the normal way, because using it in

[08:48] a terminal one task at a time is fine, useful, but it means you're always the one sitting there. Mission Control flips that. You set the jobs, they run, you check the dashboard. Let me give you one more example so it's concrete. One of my
