43sThis comparison sparks debate among fans and highlights a major shift in gameplay style.
▶ Play Clip"Delivers exactly what the title promises: a comprehensive, well-structured list of 29 distinct takeaways from the reveal, with minimal fluff."
This video breaks down the GTA 6 reveal trailer, presenting 29 key takeaways that highlight the game's mechanics, world design, and features. The analysis suggests the game leans more towards the immersive simulation of Red Dead Redemption 2 than the arcade-style of GTA 5, with a focus on detailed interactions, dynamic robberies, and a massive map.
The game's approach to the world and character interactions feels more like a sequel to Red Dead Redemption 2, with a focus on slower, more detailed interactions rather than the chaotic, arcade-style of GTA 5.
Players can interact with characters and the environment in more ways, similar to RDR2. For example, pressing L2 brings up a menu of interactions, like petting or scolding a dog.
Instead of carrying hundreds of weapons like in GTA 5, the game seems to limit the player to a few weapons, with the rest stored in a vehicle's trunk, similar to the horse system in RDR2.
The wanted level system has been expanded from five to six stars. Icons under the wanted level likely represent what the police are looking for, such as your vehicle, clothing, and face.
Characters can pull up masks to obscure their face, which may help reduce police attention during criminal activities, as seen with Lucia and Jason in the trailer.
The game features a wide range of activities including basketball, weightlifting, fishing, racing, kayaking, scuba diving, watching TV, and backyard wrestling.
Activities like weightlifting can improve a character's strength, and other activities feed into your stats, potentially affecting your character's physique, similar to GTA San Andreas.
According to an IGN interview with Rob Nelson, players can choose not to pursue a romantic relationship between Jason and Lucia, though they remain integral to the story.
Robberies are more dynamic, with animations for scoping out locations, dealing with cameras, and choosing appropriate weapons. A rival robber can even interrupt your heist.
The game's map is significantly larger than Red Dead Redemption 2's, which is necessary for high-speed vehicle travel.
Character animations, such as scooting past someone in an elevator, look much cleaner and more realistic than in previous games.
The trailer shows a character tackling a cop through a wall, suggesting improved destruction physics, though it's unclear if it's scripted or dynamic.
NPCs are more reactive, with witnesses potentially calling the cops on you for illegal actions, adding a layer of consequence to your behavior.
The game features slow-motion kill effects similar to Max Payne, which were present in RDR2 but not in GTA 5.
Players can interact with light switches, which could be used for stealth or to affect the environment.
There are many more drink options available, with a detailed animation for selecting and drinking them.
Carjacking includes options like jimmying the lock, which triggers a mini-game similar to GTA Chinatown Wars.
Backyard wrestling appears to be a feature, possibly a mini-game or a way to learn new hand-to-hand combat moves.
The game will feature scripted stranger interactions similar to RDR2, where you can choose how to respond to unique NPCs.
Mirrors and reflective surfaces show high-quality reflections, adding to the game's visual fidelity.
The first song heard in the gameplay reveal was from the band Pesh Mode, suggesting their music will be featured in the game.
Reload animations vary based on what your character is carrying, adding a nice touch of realism.
The character Brian Heater is almost certainly voiced by actor Steven Root, based on the dialogue in the trailer.
Vehicle destruction physics seem much improved, with cars reacting realistically to crashes and gunfire.
The mini-map is 3D and appears to be an in-game phone app, possibly customizable.
A targeting system highlights different parts of the body with different colors, possibly representing lethal and non-lethal attacks.
Social media is a major feature, with characters scrolling on their phones and interacting with streamers. Snapmatic is also back, but Jason and Lucia cannot post because they are on the run.
The game features many elevators, suggesting a focus on vertical exploration, with interiors on top of skyscrapers.
The lighting is incredibly impressive, with detailed shadows and harsh lights, though Rockstar is not ready to discuss PlayStation Pro upgrades.
Interiors are filled with a lot of detail and clutter, making them feel lived-in and exciting to explore.
Safe houses are more dynamic, with NPCs and activities, similar to the camps in RDR2.
A legally distinct Miami Dolphins hat appears in the game, suggesting a focus on capturing the spirit of Vice City's sports teams.
The GTA 6 reveal points to a game that blends the immersive simulation of Red Dead Redemption 2 with the chaotic fun of Grand Theft Auto, featuring a massive map, dynamic robberies, and a deep level of detail. 04:44Massive Map
A map three times the size of RDR2's is a huge undertaking and promises a vast world to explore.
06:57[00:02] happened and I've watched it multiple times in order to put together a list of [music] the biggest takeaways. In addition to that, we've scoured news articles and coverage that's popped up in order to put together a list of all
[00:14] of the biggest takeaways. So, without further ado, let's get to it. So, the first major one is that this seems to be more like a sequel to Red Dead Redemption 2 than Grand Theft Auto 5. If you watched the video, I'm sure you saw
[00:28] it seems like you're going to approach the world more like Arthur Morgan than you would Michael, Trevor, or Franklin. [music] So, what kind of stuff did we more ways to interact with different characters. It seems like just like in
[00:43] equipped, you can press the L2 button and then another menu pops up of interactions. You see it probably most clearly with the dog at the beginning where you can either pet or scold the dog. And additionally, you can also
[00:56] that you could do in Red Dead Redemption 2. If you studied it, you could fill out research pages on the animals that [music] inhabited the world. I imagine there's going to be something similar here. Perhaps an app that lets you keep
[01:09] track of all the animals you come across and study. But probably even bigger than that is the way your loadout is treated. So, if you remember in GTA 5, you have the iconic weapon wheel where you can hold hundreds and hundreds of weapons.
[01:23] They did away with that in Red Dead Redemption 2. Instead, Arthur could only rest he'd have to stow on his horse. [music] It seems like that is going to be the case in GTA 6 as well. But this time, instead of having a horse where
[01:36] retrieve weapons from your registered vehicle's [music] trunk. Okay, number two, wanted levels. In the video, you saw that there's more than just a fivestar [music] wanted level. You can now push that up to six. Now, we didn't
[01:49] level looks like. Uh, I think the highest they got in that video was four stars, but one thing we [music] did see was these icons underneath the wanted level. And we think we've got a pretty good idea of what those are. We're not
[02:03] entirely sure how all the specifics work, but you can see an icon of clothing, a vehicle, and a face. The most obvious and best guess we have is you're driving, the clothes you're wearing, and what is obscuring your
[02:18] Red Dead, we did see a lot of examples of characters Lucia [music] and Jason pulling up a mask over their face. So, I have to assume that you can use that mask in order to defer some of the attention your face would get from a
[02:32] activities. [music] We got to see a lot of the things you can do in Grand Theft Auto 6, but I'd be willing to bet there are a ton more [music] when the game finally releases. But here are some of the highlights
[02:45] you can play basketball, there's weightlifting, you can fish, there's racing, kayaking, scuba diving, watching TV, and it seemed like some sort of backyard wrestling. In addition to that, in the exclusive [music] article Dazed
[02:59] mentioned that the things you do in the game can affect your character's there's something like weightlifting that will improve a character strength, different activities you do sort of feed
[03:12] into your stats. [music] Now, we don't really know how deep that goes or how like I said, based on that dazed you just eat a lot, Jason or Lucia could just put on weight, which also is
[03:25] something similar to Red Dead Redemption 2, which goes back to my first point kind of that this feels more like a sequel to Red Dead Redemption 2 than it does Grand Theft Auto [music] 5 or maybe Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, cuz if you
[03:37] remember in that, you could also [music] uh pump iron and CJ would get bigger. And one final note on that is that when kind of funny got to check out GTA 6, they said that you can do a lot more in the gym. You can squat and also when you
[03:49] show up there, you have to check in, take things out of a locker. It feels very simulationike. Number four, Jason and Lucia's relationship can be This one comes from IGN. they had the opportunity to interview Rob Nelson,
[04:02] someone who's been on [music] the rockstar team for a very long time. And he said that if you're not interested in the sort [music] of sappy loveydovey stuff of a couple, you don't actually have to pursue a relationship between
[04:15] the [music] two. Now, that being said, they are still very integral to the story and their relationship is super important. [music] I think he was saying no matter what you choose. So, if you decide not to pursue a relationship,
[04:28] you'll be buddies, but there won't be that romantic involvement. And if you do involvement, there are things you can do like go on dates. I think he even the zoo together or something, which, you know, confirms that Vice City has a
[04:44] considering all the animals and how you can study the dog and and stuff. So, it's kind of cool. Number five, robberies have been [music] improved. So, if you remember, the entire conceit of GTA 5 was that you and your crew are
[04:57] between those heists, you could rob different convenience stores and shops. In GTA 6, however, it looks like this has been greatly expanded. These robberies feel a lot more dynamic. [music] We got like a cool montage of
[05:10] them robbing all of these different stores. And in that, you could see animations. At one point, our video producer Jeanluke pointed out a little camera icon. So, it seems like there might actually be cameras that are
[05:23] robberies, and maybe you need to destroy those cameras in [music] order to reduce that wanted level, or maybe give the cops less to go after [music] when they are pursuing you. Either way, it seems like robbing these stores Bonnie and
[05:36] prevalent [music] in this game, which has me excited. Apparently, when you do one of these robberies, you have to [music] spec out appropriately. So, if and you have a rifle strapped on your back, [music] it sounds like the owner
[05:49] is going to know what's up. Call the cops and it's done, right? [music] So, you need to bring a pistol or something smaller that can be hidden. Like we saw inside and she kind of hid it behind her back as she walked inside. What you
[06:03] could also do is you could change your outfit, go inside and scope out the place, see see where the cameras are, see where the register is, and then go everything you want, and then walk back in and do the robbery. What's even more
[06:17] exciting is that kind of funny also mentioned [music] that apparently in one situation where they were robbing a convenience store or some sort of store, another robber came in and robbed them at the same [music] time. So, they
[06:29] almost had this firefight break out in the middle of the store as these two Kind of feel bad for the shop owner there. And finally, the last thing I want to mention is that it seems like Jason and Lucia can be fairly involved
[06:42] with each [music] other in these robberies. In one shot, we kind of see outside and Jason pulls up in a motorcycle. She gets on and they drive it's part of a mission, but it would be kind of cool if you know before a
[06:57] wait outside for you and they can be the getaway. Number six, the map is three times larger than Red [music] Dead Redemption 2. That is huge. And this not a whole lot to say about this other [music] than that's crazy. Red Dead's
[07:12] map was already massive, but I guess you kind of need a GTA map to be a little bit bigger [music] since you are going to be ripping around on cars going, you to be ripping around on cars going, you know, 90, 100 mph versus a horse that
[07:26] those were the six biggest takeaways from the reveal. However, we have a bunch more here. These are a little bit smaller, but I think all of them are fairly fascinating and paint a pretty good picture of what GTA 6 actually is.
[07:40] animations look way better. This one speaks for itself. [music] If you watch the video, you can tell. But some things I noted, especially at the beginning, It looks super clean. He's in the elevator and he kind of scoots past the
[07:53] guy in the elevator when the door is open. That also looked really clean. There's probably a ton of things that stand [music] out, but animations look crazy. Number eight, destruction. So, one thing we saw in that first firefight
[08:06] was one character tackle a cop and they smash through a wall. was, "Oh, more destruction in this game." It's hard to tell if that was scripted or that is something that can just happen. But I'm curious if you can
[08:21] shoot through walls, maybe explosives [music] blow walls. At the very least, it seems like declutter explodes and and you know, when you shoot a wall, [music] stuff. So, that sort of destruction seems pretty good. But I'm curious if it
[08:34] goes deeper. [music] Number nine, NPCs are way more reactive than they were in in the video. This came from some of mentioned we're talking about robberies. But if you're walking around
[08:46] someone's probably [music] going to call the cops on you because, you know, in happen, which once again kind of shows how GTA 6 is leaning [music] more into convenience stores, if you don't want to rob them, you can buy pet snacks, which
[09:02] That's something that also came out from some of the other coverage going around. Number 11, the Max Painlike slow-mo kills are in GTA [music] 6. They were in Red Dead, but they weren't really in GTA 5. They're here now. That's nice. When
[09:15] glasses [music] crack and everything. It's It's kind of cool. When Jason was in presumably Lucia's apartment, he could interact with a light switch. I lights [music] in game or if it's only for specific locations that could help
[09:29] with stealth. Number 13, there are way more drink options this time [music] there are a ton of options, and he picked one and drank it. Number 14, there are multiple ways to jack a car. Now, as you could see [music] in the
[09:42] was an option to Jimmy the lock. And when he chose that, there was a sort of miniame that played [music] out kind of like GTA Chinatown Wars. If you remember Town Wars, that's a bit of a deep cut, but it's very good and you should play
[09:55] [music] wrestling. This seemed interesting and I think there might be a mini [music] narrative around that, but at the very least, I have to imagine that's how you learn new handtohand combat moves, maybe
[10:08] If not, seems like a cool [music] diversion either way. Number 16, there seems to be stranger interactions just Redemption 2. Now, if you remember in Red Dead Redemption 2, as you're
[10:20] exploring, you might come across someone, and usually you'd have a few handle that. It seems like GTA 6 is going to have something like that as well. As we saw as Jason and Lucio were driving, there was that character sort
[10:32] of hanging on the side of the bridge and then he ultimately falls off. And then we also see that lady with the hammer that we [music] saw in one of the Jason was interacting with her. So, I imagine you can expect something similar
[10:45] where different [music] NPCs will do these sort of scripted actions that you can interact with and sort of decide how you want to conclude [music] those. Number 17, we saw some mirrors and reflective surfaces throughout the game
[10:57] seems like there's going to be highquality reflections [music] and all of that reflective detail in GTA 6. I'm not surprised. It looks incredibly good. well. Number 18. The first song we heard in this game play [music] was from the
[11:13] in this game play [music] was from the Pesh mode, >> and that made video producer Curt Indivina very happy. So, we're [music] calling it out here. I think you can expect their songs, or at least one of
[11:26] them in GTA 6. Number 19. There are different reload animations based on what [music] your character is carrying. We saw this with Lucia. It looked like maybe money, maybe drugs, maybe [music] something else entirely. and she had a
[11:39] shotgun and she did the whole uh you know throw it up, [ __ ] [music] it, bring it back. It's pretty cool. It's a nice touch. Number 20. Brian Heater is almost certainly played by Steven Root. >> Never tell you about uh the uh
[11:54] I was a kid. >> Now, people thought this was the case sounded a lot like Steven Root, but we didn't really have enough dialogue to go off of. I think now we can confirm. I
[12:07] it's just someone who sounds a lot like him, but it sounds a lot like Steven Root. And maybe I'm reaching a little too far here, but I really like the show Barry, which Steven Root is in. And I wouldn't be surprised if someone at
[12:20] Rockstar saw Barry, also thought it was really good. And honestly, that show [music] And I wouldn't be surprised if they were like, "Yeah, let's get them. bring [music] them in this game." Number 21. Vehicle Destruction seems much
[12:33] improved. There's a police chase pretty early on and as you can tell as Jason is car [music] is reacting realistically, it would. I've never actually been in a shootout with cops, so [music] I don't
[12:47] and tumbles, you can really see some of the physics [music] on display. Number 22. The mini map in the corner is 3D and it looks to be taken from a phone UI. I the characters have on their phone and it just transposes itself when you're
[13:02] can customize it because if it is an in-game phone app, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some sort of option there. Number 23. It seems like there's just like there was in Red Dead Redemption and in Grand Theft Auto 5.
[13:16] highlights different parts of the bodies with different colors. Maybe representing lethal and non-lethal attacks you can do. Who knows? But as marks [music] throughout the body. Number 24. We kind of already expected
[13:30] media seems to play a much bigger [music] role in this game. In the days like scrolling on her phone as [music] Jason and her were driving around. But also in this, we saw Lucia interact with a streamer of sorts, and [music] then it
[13:46] cuts to her driving him around in the trunk, and you can see chat going off. So, I have to imagine social media is going to play a big [music] role in GTA 6. And I have a feeling they are going to uh make fun of it pretty
[13:58] which I hope so. Social media is bad. We don't need it. And speaking of that, IGN has an article stating that Snapmatic is back, which you might remember from GTA 5. Now, Jason and Lucia cannot post on this because they are on the run and it
[14:11] >> But you can scroll it. You can follow other creators. And it seems like some of those creators may show up in game [music] as NPCs as you interact with them. Kind of cool. Number 25. There are a lot of elevators featured in this
[14:25] gameplay segment. It kind of reminded me of Cyberpunk [music] to be honest cuz Cyberpunk. But what I think this really means is that there seems to be a lot of you'd take an elevator to get to some of these rooftop bars, these clubs. But
[14:40] also there's gameplay implications, right, of getting up high, you [music] if you're trying to assassinate or kill someone, you can get high up. Either way, I'm excited to see what [music] Rockstar does when they sort of flesh
[14:53] out the higher areas of a map because I feel like in GTA 5, the only times you at higher levels were like stuff they added in GTA Online or like very specific [music] missions. So, I hope there's some explorable interiors on top
[15:08] of some of these skyscrapers downtown. [music] That'd be cool. Number 26, the lighting is incredibly impressive. Now, one thing they did say was that this was they're not ready to talk about the PlayStation Pro upgrades, [music]
[15:21] but that being said, it looked really good. Now, I'm not sure if it's using probably using their own proprietary [music] tech. Either way, it looks really good. You can see all the shadows and the and the harsh lights and it just
[15:34] [music] it looks really impressive and the reflections which we mentioned earlier. Number 27. There is a [music] lot of detail and clutter inside these interiors. Something people seem to really want with GTA 6 is they want to
[15:47] be able to go inside of [music] every building. And we don't know if this is the case for sure. That seems like a lot of work. That said, all the interiors that we did [music] see in this demo were incredibly impressive. There was so
[15:59] many different things lying on tables against the wall at stores. There's just [music] so many little details in all of these spaces that I'm pretty excited to explore. Number 28. Speaking of interiors, this one comes from IGN, but
[16:12] go to throughout different points in the game are more dynamic [music] than they of compared them to the camps in Red Dead Redemption 2, where other NPCs may there's more to do while you at your safe house. Number 29. There's a legally
[16:29] distinct Miami Dolphins hat [music] in GTA 6. Now, one of our writers caught this, so, you know, makes sense. [music] They're trying to capture the spirit of City needs sports [music] teams. I'm curious how deep that goes. You know,
[16:43] like there were in [music] previous. Maybe you can watch sports. Or at the very least, maybe that means there's a big football stadium [music] that you can explore at some point or maybe do some missions in. So, those are our
[16:57] biggest takeaways from the GTA 6 Netflix reveal. However, I am certain that we this and you're like, "Hey, he didn't call that out or that out or that out." Please leave them in the comments below. Let's just create a huge [music]
[17:11] everyone know all the cool and interesting details that they caught. [music] Anyway, that's it. We'll see you next time. Cheers.
