[08:21] alumni

[08:22] of being in the hot wheels legends

[08:24] garage so bragging rights a die cast

[08:27] and again being part of these infamous

[08:29] vehicles

[08:30] so we have some special guests we got

[08:32] some judges also

[08:33] 13 finalists well 12 actual stop winners

[08:36] and then you the fans

[08:37] actually picked a mobile one fan

[08:39] favorite because

[18:20] what before we jump into it before we

[18:22] break el camino

[18:28] walker who is in north branch minnesota

[18:30] before we dissect his vehicle

[18:33] my name is chris walker and my car we

[18:36] call it the hulk camino so the hulk

[18:38] amino

[18:39] is a 1959 el camino that i radically

[18:42] modified in approximately 60 days

[18:44] built a lot of cars for customers and

[18:46] this one was just my little toy to go

[18:47] play with so i acquired the whole camino

[18:50] from an older gentleman he had it

[18:51] stashed behind his garage underneath

[18:53] some pine trees and all that

[18:55] acidic nature of the pine needles the

[18:58] floors were pretty much gone

[19:00] rocker panels were gone the vision that

[19:02] i had

[19:03] most of that i was cutting off anyway so

[19:05] i purchased the vehicle brought it back

[19:07] to the shop and started the project

[19:09] so what would it mean to me to have my

[19:12] car

[19:13] mortalized as a hot wheels diecast car i

[19:15] remember walking through the stores as a

[19:17] little kid

[19:18] seeing that hot wheels aisle and just

[19:21] just going it down

[19:22] but to have that car up on that shelf

[19:25] would really be the icing on the cake

[19:26] i would uh hope that it would inspire

[19:29] the next generation

[19:30] to think outside the box and to

[19:34] build something wonderful

[19:40] all right snoop's already enamored after

[19:42] taking notes i think it took the vin to

[19:44] make sure

[19:44] it didn't get stolen did you have an el

[19:46] camino at one time

[20:28] creative thinking with the roof is

[20:30] really unusual

[20:31] uh you know when i look at something

[20:33] like this i go oh i couldn't have

[20:34] thought of that right right i thought of

[20:36] that

[20:36] even the bend in the fender right there

[20:38] at the front

[20:40] i mean you you have to have that i love

[20:42] the rough nature of it because it looks

[20:44] like

[20:44] it's almost cracking under the weight of

[20:46] the motor you know right

[20:47] yeah so no i think it's i think it's

[20:50] brilliant i think it's really

[20:51] interesting

[20:52] and i love the fact that i can identify

[20:54] it from the back with the bat wing is a

[20:56] 59.

[20:57] yeah it's it's in a tiny cute little bed

[20:59] ted as a hot wheels designer here

[21:01] uh i mean these things it screams hot

[21:04] wheels and

[21:04] the blower all that the blower the

[21:06] engine out of the hood right screams hot

[21:07] wheels the thing that i like about this

[21:08] car and the funny detail that i think no

[21:10] one looks at

[21:11] is the fact that he left the the door

[21:12] handle on there right you get out

[21:19] oh he's got two ways to get in you flip

[21:20] up the roof and you can open the door

[21:22] but there's no line yeah

[21:23] it's the winchester mystery house right

[21:25] like the door that goes nowhere

[21:32] design came out in 59

[21:34] there what there was an urban myth that

[21:36] uh above 120 the rear

[21:38] uh wings would lift the rear end off the

[21:47] always who there were

[21:48] people who always said yeah rumor but

[21:50] this one might go that fast though

[21:54] i mean overall looking at it can this be

[21:56] a hot wheel brian absolutely i mean this

[21:58] has everything we're looking for right i

[21:59] mean that dramatic statement right

[22:01] you think about it's going to be shrunk

[22:02] down to this scale right and and it's

[22:04] got to read

[22:05] as something bold and different at that

[22:06] scale and this definitely hits on

[22:08] that it definitely correlates i like it

[22:13] this car deserves a lot of attention but

[22:14] quickly brie what do you think about

[22:16] this thing was built in 60 days oh good

[22:24] wheels are ginormous like i think that

[22:26] the width of that wheel is probably

[22:28] bigger than my forearm it's uh

[22:33] almost military there with the

[22:35] internals hey it's got got a little

[22:36] candy paint on the steering wheel snoop

[22:38] i know you're all about painting you

[22:39] know i like that

[22:40] candy dripping like water right that's

[22:45] digital so join us all the way from

[22:47] florida this is a build father and son

[22:49] and we did have one physical event early

[22:52] on pre-2020 pre-covered pre-lockdown but

[22:54] again our footprint has gotten larger

[22:56] because

[22:56] germany malaysia all over the world and

[22:58] uh here join us from florida it is

[23:01] miguel and michael sands this car is

[23:03] called the disco vet

[23:06] hello this is michael sands and this is

[23:08] my 1969 corvette that we call

[23:10] discovet this has been a three

[23:12] generation build

[23:14] between my son myself and my father

[23:17] we've been into cars for many years i

[23:19] started out collecting

[23:21] hot wheels toys this is what inspired us

[23:23] to build this car

[23:25] if you think of the paint job it's like

[23:26] wild and crazy just like some of the

[23:28] model cars that i used to buy when i was

[23:30] a kid

[23:31] this has been a 10-year build we started

[23:35] out

[23:35] building it we put in there a 1 000

[23:38] horsepower 427 big block

[23:40] chevy with a blower on top this is one

[23:43] amazing ride

[23:44] we won the 2020 legends tour miami

[23:48] this year with this car and we can't

[23:51] wait for the world to see it

[23:58] paint thousand horsepower the big blower

[24:00] i mean that

[24:00] that screams hot wheels yeah well you

[24:02] know what's fascinating we have an event

[24:03] here in l.a called the blessing of the

[24:05] cars it's mostly latinos

[24:07] and a lot of low riders yeah

[24:10] exactly i felt like you guys needed it

[24:15] thing i find they do unbelievable is the

[24:18] paint

[24:18] this to me would probably be one of the

[24:20] hardest cars to recreate as a hot wheel

[24:22] because the paint is so

[24:23] intricate that to get that in a 164

[24:26] scale would probably be really really

[24:28] tough but

[24:29] yeah i mean the attention to detail

[24:31] that's that's really the key

[24:33] i mean the paintwork looks just

[24:34] unbelievably flawless

[24:36] and it's so complicated to do a stripe

[24:40] that's not really a stripe

[24:42] that goes in compound curves yeah it's

[24:44] got the filigree the gold foiling all

[24:46] that i mean i'm impressing it is the

[24:47] is the big high mark here he talked

[24:49] about that and not even because he

[24:50] mentioned that but

[24:51] yes this is my favorite i love it it's

[24:54] like

[24:54] the the paint job of a specific type of

[24:57] car on a totally different kind of car

[24:59] and

[25:00] and this to me screams hot whales i i

[25:01] saw this and i'm just like yeah i want

[25:03] to play with that it's mashed culture

[25:05] so it's got like a little chicano in it

[25:06] but it's kind of it's it's mixed kind of

[25:08] like my cousin it's like half white half

[25:09] mexican

[25:57] hot wheels the thing i love about this

[25:58] car is sort of the fact that it's been

[26:03] i mean that's that's near and dear to us

[26:05] pat the passing along of the passion of

[26:07] the building uh the love of cars to me

[26:10] that's that's the key thing here and you

[26:11] know grandpa came up with the disco

[26:14] right so the kid's like man like edm

[26:17] or rap or something like that that's a

[26:18] snoop vet like this boy never died in

[26:20] grandpa's eyes

[26:23] that wasn't grandson's idea yeah i think

[26:25] the dad did have some big tall heels on

[26:26] his thing

[26:27] brie i know i know you love paint you're

[26:29] a fan i mean this throws the whole

[26:30] you know catalog at it i mean yeah the

[26:32] car is blue i love it already i love the

[26:35] how much flake is in the paint i can see

[26:39] get a little bit of a glimpse of the

[26:40] interior

[26:41] and i like that the interior kind of

[26:42] seems like it matches like the livery of

[26:44] the car

[26:45] did you get that yeah it ties together

[26:47] yeah yeah i think it looks amazing i

[26:48] like it a lot

[28:06] you know i had to basically take

[28:09] whatever i could find and make it fit in

[28:12] a platform

[28:13] that would exemplify you know futuristic

[28:16] car

[28:17] you know or what could fit in order so

[28:20] it would adapt uh the parameters and the

[28:22] requirements that i needed for the

[28:24] scorpio

[28:24] if the scorp ion was turned into a

[28:26] hobbles car it would mean the world to

[28:28] me

[28:28] you know the reason why i built this car

[28:30] the last year and a half blood sweat and

[28:32] tears

[28:33] was to create something that inspired

[28:35] the next generation of builders

[28:37] and what better way to share that than

[28:40] in an international platform where kids

[28:42] around the world

[28:43] can say wow what the hell is this

[28:47] and once they begin to understand and go

[28:49] beyond the fact that it's

[28:51] more than just you know a car it's an

[28:53] idea

[43:58] first time was in pretty rough shape

[44:07] was done by me and that was kind of my

[44:09] goal from the get-go was to build the

[44:11] best thing that i could

[44:12] given the honest settings and the the

[44:15] humble

[44:16] and meek tooling to be able to have that

[44:19] immortalized into a hot wheels die cast

[44:21] would be a dream come true

[44:22] to have my nephew be able to play with a

[44:26] die cast of

[44:27] a car that was built in his grandparents

[44:29] side yard and to have

[44:31] kids as i did when i was a kid play with

[44:34] hot wheels and really

[44:35] kind of cultivate and and nurture that

[44:37] love and that passion for cars

[44:39] and to have my car be that that hot

[44:41] wheels would be a dream come true

[44:47] i mean just look at this thing it is

[44:49] absolutely beautiful and

[44:51] and it's white i love white cars but the

[44:53] suspension the geometry

[44:55] the build quality built on the side of

[44:57] his parents house well the thing i like

[44:58] about this

[44:59] a lot of the cars we see today are built

[45:01] this one is engineered

[45:03] you know this is a front mid-engine

[45:05] design

[45:06] i mean and i like the sort of

[45:08] exoskeleton idea of this with the hood

[45:13] car if you don't know what's really

[45:14] under the car it could be all rusty

[45:16] could be just a standard frame modified

[49:46] family it's gone to a show car i had the

[49:48] engine rebuilt when i first got it

[49:49] and thrashed her about for a few years

[49:51] and then i started the process of

[49:53] turning to this cool little hot rod

[49:54] to have hot wheels of not only a home

[49:56] with him but my human it would be

[49:58] insane to think that people will be

[50:01] collecting playing with

[50:02] a model of my car is just mental um and

[50:05] hopefully it'll bring

[50:06] the hillman to a whole new audience so

[1:08:47] this this is definitely like they took

[1:08:49] one of the most

[1:08:50] practical trucks ever made and made it

[1:08:52] the complete opposite of the practical

[1:08:54] this is outrageously awesome it's just

[1:15:31] chop and drug i mean and to me to have a

[1:15:33] hot wheel built out of this car would be

[1:15:35] really special to me because uh

[1:15:38] my wife inspired the painting on the

[1:15:40] back of the car

[1:15:41] to me having a hot wheel built after

[1:15:43] this car would just be

[1:15:44] amazing and i would cherish it forever

[1:23:51] and i'll cross the heck out of it on

[1:23:52] weekends i started with a base mustang

[1:23:55] it had five paint jobs and rusted floors

[1:23:57] i tore it apart

[1:23:58] and i learned how to do most of this

[1:23:59] stuff online i did everything except for

[1:24:01] the exterior paint

[1:24:03] the whole car is a custom mashup of

[1:24:04] parts but i feel the end result

[1:24:06] is undeniably cool and cohesive having

[1:24:09] the ruffian immortalized

[1:24:11] as a hot wheels die cast would mean that

[1:24:13] in a very

[1:24:14] meaningful and surprising way i have

[1:24:16] achieved my lifelong dream

[1:29:42] custom wrap

[1:29:44] that defines the whole car to have the

[1:29:47] mini cooper as a hot wheels die cast

[1:29:51] would just be crazy sick like it would

[1:29:54] just be

[1:29:55] awesome and not only to me but to my

[1:29:57] kids who are already

[1:29:59] freaking out about how far this has gone

[1:30:01] i couldn't imagine them walking into a

[1:34:47] it would be amazing because growing up

[1:34:49] all i did was just buy hot wheels
