[00:01]
What is Content Gap Analysis

Content gap analysis compares your content and topics against competitors' to find what they have that you lack. It's useful for both new and existing sites.

[00:44]
Tool: Custom GPT in ChatGPT Plus

The process uses a custom GPT called 'Content Gap Assistant', accessible via a link in the description. Requires ChatGPT Plus subscription.

[01:14]
Identify Competitors via Incognito Search

Use incognito mode to search for target keywords. Pick one of the top-ranking domains as the competitor to analyze.

[01:40]
Find Competitor's Sitemap

Add '/sitemap.xml' to the competitor's domain (e.g., example.com/sitemap.xml) to view their sitemap index. Typically the 'posts' sitemap contains the content you need.

[02:21]
Copy Competitor's Sitemap XML

Open the posts sitemap, select all the XML code (Ctrl+A), and copy it. This contains the list of all their content URLs.

[02:48]
Paste into Content Gap Assistant

In the custom GPT, click 'Get Started', then paste the copied competitor sitemap code (not the URL) and press Enter.

[03:00]
Provide Your Own Sitemap

Repeat the same process for your domain: add '/sitemap.xml', find the posts sitemap, select and copy all XML, then paste it into the GPT when prompted.

[03:41]
Review Missing Topics Output

The GPT compares both sitemaps and outputs a list of topics that your competitor covers but you do not. Copy these keywords for content creation.

[03:56]
Use AI Writer to Create Content

Paste the missing topics into your preferred AI writer (e.g., Jasper, Copy.ai) to generate blog posts or articles targeting those areas.

Content gap analysis using this ChatGPT custom GPT provides a simple, actionable way to uncover SEO opportunities and prioritize content creation based on competitor insights.
