Marvel Studios SDCC Hall H Panel Breakdown! - Avengers Doomsday, Ghost Rider, Black Panther 3

[00:01] Comic-Con with new announcements, a major Doomsday reveal, and a trailer sad, but also very excited for this movie. Welcome back ScreenCrush. I'm Ryan Arey, and we're going to break down all of the Marvel Studios reveals from

[00:14] movies that take place after Secret Wars, and Kevin Feige actually outlined what the universe will look like for the clues all over the con from displays to the runes on Downey's jacket. So, let's

[00:27] break this down. Now, Marvel held their panel in the legendary Hall H, where announcements in the past, including unveiling their slate that took place after Endgame. Now, this time they did not unveil a massive timeline of movies

[00:40] and shows, which was smart. These sorts of timelines, I think, are starting to overwhelm fans. Release dates constantly shifting means that Marvel doesn't necessarily want to make promises that they can't keep. Added to that, The Boys

[00:52] have made parodies of these phase boards, and at the Spaceballs panel at San Diego, they unveiled this giant graphic of their fake cinematic universe. So, Marvel kept it small, which was really smart. Now, attendees

[01:04] were given a Doom mask and cape to wear, which isn't just a cool bit of swag. It actually gives us a clue about the movie itself. At the start of it, Downey announced, "It's not easy being green. I need a lot of help. I need this whole

[01:16] family around me to assist me in being an arch enemy." Kind of a Downey. Now, Doom would have helpers, other people dressed as him, and that they would include other magic users. This is kind of similar to his Doom bots in the

[01:29] comics, except these would be real people he recruited from across the multiverse. Now, we have theorized that Doctor Strange is in this movie just in disguise as one of Doom's minions, and that Clea recruiting him to stop

[01:41] incursions at the end of his second film was actually her recruiting him to work for Doom. Now, at the Marvel booth, three of these costumes were displayed, these so-called Latverian witches. But, what's interesting is that these witches

[01:53] costumes, one purple, one green, and orange. Now, many fans across the different uniforms could be worn by Clea, who is Doctor Strange's love in purple. Green would be Sylvie, the Loki variant from the show Loki, and

[02:08] some fans have speculated that the final costume could be worn by Wanda Maximoff. We made a whole video about it. But, my personal bet is that it's worn by Famke Janssen's Jean Grey, who would be using the Phoenix Force. It is weird that they

[02:20] didn't invite her back, but the rest of the X-Men are in this film. Marvel also some interesting details. As we saw in the trailer, the chest plate features the symbols of Thor and Captain Marvel, maybe indicating that he killed both of

[02:33] power. The runes on his gauntlet look like Loki's symbol, and now we can also Our own Colton Udberg on our live suggested that this is a piece of cloth that belonged to his mother. He's right,

[02:48] that would be perfect Doom. But, the teaser poster also showed Doom kneeling to a tapestry of a woman and child, who could be Doom and his mom, or could be his wife and son. If so, this cloth would belong to them, to remind Victor

[03:02] multiverse. There's other clues from the trailer that we'll talk about in a bit. of their film history at the start of the panel, including footage of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man films. This is another character who has not been

[03:15] 100% think he's going to make an appearance and hopefully play a major panel started, they played the sound of a motorcycle revving up, which leads into the first big announcement, that Ryan Gosling is playing the MCU's Ghost

[03:30] other people? >> No, Ghost Rider is actually one of when it comes to their horror comics, I would say he is the marquee hero of that brand. Originally, he was a stunt driver who made a deal with Mephisto to cure

[03:44] his dad's cancer. Afterwards, he bonded with a demon who was the Spirit of bike, a flaming skull, the power of the penance stare to make people feel real bad about things they've done. Nicholas Cage played Johnny Blaze in two films,

[03:57] major role in Agents of Shield season 4. Now, the film will be directed by Shawn by directing the bulk of the episodes for Stranger Things season 1. Since Deadpool and Wolverine, and he worked with Gosling on the upcoming film Star

[04:12] Wars Starfighter. Now, Gosling's star power has never been bigger. He's about to be in a huge Star Wars movie. He got an Oscar nomination for playing Ken, and he carried Project Hail Mary to a $680 million box office. And there's also

[04:24] speculation that Ghost Rider, the film, could be setting up the team of So, this is a group of Marvel supernatural heroes, which could include Blade, Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, and Elsa Bloodstone. There is

[04:37] no news on Blade, but Feige did say in an interview with IGN, "I am feeling we didn't get off the ground with Mahershala. But hey, if you want to feel like a giant winner, you should start rocking this kick-ass new Marvel merch

[05:18] the links are below. Now, in interviews, Feige also talked about what the He described it as being a single universe that will be streamlined and much simpler. In other words, no more multiverse. And then, Robert Downey Jr.

[05:32] a strange jacket covered in Latvian runes. Now, get this. A few months ago, there was news of a major announcement at South by Southwest in London, and it Doctor Doom-themed coffee shop. Now, we made fun of it at the time, but those

[05:47] bags of coffee featured a key to deciphering the runes on Downey's Armitage from Popverse actually did this. According to him, the jacket reads on the right lapel, "There is no promise of tomorrow." The pocket folds read,

[06:00] "Justice and revenge." While the message on his wrist spelled, "To the victor go the spoils." Get it? Victor von Doom. So, here's the thing, these aren't just random phrases. They actually align with the trailer shown in Hall H. "No promise

[06:14] of tomorrow" refers to incursions. These are the universe-ending events when universes collide and you have to destroy another universe to save your incursions destroy the entire multiverse, prompting Doom to steal

[06:27] cosmic power and condense all of reality into a single world, Battleworld, which he rules as God Emperor Doom. Hence the phrase, "To the victor go the spoils." He will win this battle and make himself ruler over reality. There's also clues

[06:39] revenge for that we'll talk about when we break down the trailer. going to force all of these heroes into a brutal decision. Do they destroy one universe apparently decided to do this, but what other heroes would make this choice?

[06:53] mind. >> In the grand calculus of the multiverse, their sacrifice means infinitely more than their lives. he would make a deal with Doom. But maybe the film will feature other heroes

[07:06] making a sacrifice to prioritize their own happiness over others. And there are break down in just a bit. Then many many cast members of the movie were brought on stage. And the big new reveal was Hayley Atwell was returning as Peggy

[07:19] guess that would happen because the first trailer or teaser or story, Steve Rogers holding his son James. Now, the Russo brothers have said that this movie will be a direct continuation of Endgame with Steve living his happy life

[07:32] with Peggy. So, it would be pretty weird if Peggy was not featured in the movie in some way. They also touted the re-release of Endgame on September 25th called Avengers: Endgame Encore. Now, this is not just a money grab so they

[07:44] all time again. They've actually added in new and deleted scenes. They showed a brief trailer at the con beginning with Tony saying this bit of ominous back. >> And this was followed by footage of

[07:56] Steve returning the stones. And this is something I've wanted to see for years. movie. Did Steve have any problems returning the stones? Were there other adventures along the way? What happened when he saw the Red Skull? How did he

[08:08] speculated that he's actually lived through the events of Secret Wars creating a kind of time loop by giving Sam back his shield. But will these post credits of Endgame? Are they going to interrupt that pause after Steve

[08:22] definitely think it's going to tie Endgame into Doomsday better, but it's film. Let us know your theories in the comments. Then Ryan Reynolds interrupted the panel by standing up in the audience dressed in his full gray Deadpool

[08:35] uniform. Now this uniform first appeared in the pages of Uncanny X-Force as a stealth suit for Deadpool, but Reynolds has also worn it in various social media posts. We actually think he owns the suit. This is a perfect way to announce

[08:47] that Deadpool is in the movie because this is exactly who Deadpool is. He's the mischief maker. He's the guy who is never invited to the big party, but he does stand aside and make comments to the audience. And to show that Deadpool

[08:59] actually walked the floor at Comic-Con and interacted with fans who had no idea a mouth. Now before we get to the trailer, which by the way leaked immediately, they did end the night with a huge announcement. Ryan Coogler is

[09:13] Panther 3 and it's going to release in December 2028. The film is going to be shot on actual celluloid film, which is a huge deal. Coogler is a massive nerd for film format and his movie centers shot on film and released in several

[09:28] Black Panther on film, but Marvel has this whole complex system in place that means that directors have to shoot on digital. So if Marvel made this concession to him, it means that he used his clout from centers to gain some huge

[09:41] leverage within the studio. Letitia Wright and Winston Duke also took the David Johnson, as the grown-up T'Challa Jr. Now, you might know Johnson from his excellent work in Alien: Romulus, where he played a defective Android, or from

[09:54] his work in the Stephen King adaptation, The Long Walk. Now, the last time we saw this doesn't mean that they're going to do like a huge time jump in the movie. screwing with time and creating Battleworld, it would be pretty easy to

[10:08] age up some characters. Hell, maybe even Morgan Stark would grow up and join the have T'Challa taking on the mantle of Black Panther, which actually brings the series full circle to his father becoming king after the death of

[10:21] footage of Spider-Man: Brand New Day featuring the Punisher fighting against Punisher is going to be using some augmented damage control tech during this battle. And Jon Bernthal took the stage for a bit. But, the big event was

[10:35] footage begins with a shot of Doom's throne, presumably in Latveria, the country he rules. But, it's in front of that same massive window that we saw on this expo in Shanghai, and that we see at the end of every trailer. Now, we

[10:48] have speculated that this is actually Doom's palace at the end of time and from Loki. You know, it's the former palace of He Who Remains. Then, Susan smartest guy in the room." And by the way, this is huge. It confirms that Doom

[11:03] is from the Fantastic Four's universe, and they have an existing relationship Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, I was worried that he was just going to be a Tony Stark variant with no connection to Reed Richards. But, the 2015 Secret Wars

[11:15] hinges on this rivalry between Doom and Reed, and I'm so, so glad it plays a role in this film. Sue then follows by saying, "He used to be different. He used to be kind. He used to be caring." And this is very much unlike Doom in the

[11:28] comics. Even when Reed and Doom knew each other in college, Doom was always an arrogant Now, in the movie, I'm wondering if in this timeline, little bit of a softy. The trailer then shows shots of Magneto, Xavier, and

[11:41] Chris Evans before she says, "Everything he loved was taken from him." And then we see Doom looking at the tapestry from the poster, pretty much confirming that he lost his family. Now, it would make sense if he lost his family because of

[11:53] an incursion, which is why he is so hell-bent on fixing the multiverse. He wants to create a new world where no one will ever suffer like this again. And it wouldn't surprise me if this event also scarred his face, and now he wears the

[12:05] mask as a reminder of who he lost. And then we see what looks like an incursion, basically confirming that this is what took everything from him. room. And this is likely Sue explaining the villain to everyone, kind of like

[12:18] how Bruce and Gamora explained Thanos in Infinity War. She says, "I knew he was lost, but I did not realize that he was broken." As the camera spins to show Doom's hooded face. And then Reed pleads with Doom, saying, "Victor, did you do

[12:31] this?" I wonder if early in the movie, Doom is actually going to be allied with the heroes, but then destroys an entire universe. And this is the moment he friends, the Fantastic Four. And then Doom answers, "All of you have lived

[12:44] stolen lives." And as he says this, the visuals tell a story as we cut to have caused incursions because they stole lives. We see Scott and Cassie whose actions announced to the Council of Kangs that Earth-616 was getting

[12:58] involved in the multiverse. Then we see what I think is Johnny holding Sue, who was brought back to life by the Power Cosmic. And then we see Xavier and the X-Men have been tampering with time for years, starting with Days of Future

[13:11] Past, where they conspired to create a branching timeline that was more favorable to them. And Deadpool isn't in the trailer, but he really mucked around with time. And then with Steve, we see the stolen life he holds in his hands,

[13:23] his baby. This is also huge. Steve, by making a selfish decision, would have incursion could have been what killed Doom's family, so he stole Doom's happy life from him. This means that Marvel might be undoing Steve Rogers' happy

[13:38] ending from Endgame, and that depresses the out of me. And then we see Thor biologically. She was a daughter of his worst enemy, Gorr the God Butcher. So, in essence, that's another stolen life. Thor stole the life from Gorr. Next, we

[13:52] see Loki in Steve's house, and Loki essentially stole the life of He Who center of the multiversal tree, and that tree caused the ever-expanding incursions, and would have killed Doom's family. So, Doom has a reason to hate

[14:06] all of these people, as he says, "Give them back." And then here we see one of the Latverian witches standing with the Black Panther, meaning that maybe this witch either turned against Doctor Doom, or at first they are working with the

[14:19] heroes. And then Doom lands on a battlefield, which is the same fight we from a few months ago. Thor charges up Stormbreaker and says, "You'll beg for hell long before I grant it." And once again, we see Doom just swat away the

[14:33] hammer like in the first trailer, but he replies, this is so badass, "Hell answers to me." And he uses green magic to resurrect an army of fallen sentinels. And then ends the trailer by saying, "I am Doom." It is the most
