[00:00] I'm at SGS and I just got hands on time and a presentation for the latest on Emilia game and you might be unsurprised to hear that it still feels good.
[00:13] Hands on! The combat of that game has been the big draw for a really long time and the demo of it is obviously out now so you can get a good feel for it. However, the thing that you might not be able to play in there, I'm not 100% sure if it's in there,
[00:27] but is they have a new gen mother they showed us this one is like the old freaking reverse mermaid situation where there's a woman in the water and uh musashi kind of comes up and he's like hey get out of the water you're gonna get you're gonna hurt yourself and then she kind of like disappears
[00:42] under the water and then just jumps out it's like a giant gross little fish thing that tries to eat you and you've got like harry it in perfect timing but it's like a thin water spin attack and it's a
[00:54] It's a great enemy to practice your grab reversals, which when an enemy tries to grab you, if you hit the counter on it, you will effectively turn it around and grab them back. You should think of it as like a break almost from Street Fighter. But the key thing I thought that was really cool was when you're attacking the enemies, you kind of get these blue bar at the bottom that fills up very, very slowly.
[01:15] And then once that's filled up, you have access to something called Oni Armament. And each of them, they're like a powerful, special move effectively. and each of them have a different function.
[01:27] So the ones that I saw were, the first one that looked most useful were these two blades that come out of nowhere, and you can do loads of slashing attacks very, very quick, but once you're done slashing the enemy, the kind of damage proportionate to what you do is given back to you in health.
[01:41] So it's super, super helpful in kind of making sure that you've got a lot of vitality and if you're having trouble with enemies or bosses, it's a good one to go to if you need to, like, top up your health. The other one that I saw was called the Wind Whipper which as the name might imply it kind of like the double bladed kind of like saw which he pulls out and kind of like spins very very aggressively and it generates this kind of like cutting razor wings that kind of swirl around him
[02:09] Amazing for like crowd control, pushing enemies back and doing a bunch of damage. And then the final ones were the, they were called the Earthshakers. Sounds like maracas, kind of look a bit like maracas, but what that did was he kind of just pulls them out
[02:23] and then delivers one very, very heavy two-handed, like, punch with them, and that just does a massive amount of damage to their stamina, which in turn allows you to quickly break them and do way more damage.
[02:36] The boss that we actually fought, we actually saw two boss fights, and the interesting mechanic with them is, the boss that we won when we fought was, they had multiple stages, but the cool thing was, as the enemy's attacking you
[02:48] and tasting your mustache's blood, it actually becomes more powerful. and then over time, once it reaches a certain point, it will evolve into the next stage of the fight, which is really cool.
[03:00] I'm interested to find out if you can, like, if you full carry and, like, never get hit, whether the boss actually evolves into the next stage or into space at the first stage. I hope it does do that because that's a really cool mechanic that we haven't really seen much of before.
[03:12] But, at the very least, I like that wrinkle to the actual bosses. And there's another boss as well that I fought, which it was kind of like bringing out tendrils, which you can cut off by using your bow and arrow. And if you do that, it kind of leaves the boss stunned
[03:25] and cuts off one of its abilities. But it does it quite abruptly, so you kind of have to switch gears very, very quickly. I think that's where the tricky part of it comes. That's the kind of cool gameplay stuff. When I played myself, the Nariya stuff was interesting.
[03:39] I was going into a town as Musashi, and it looked like all the denizens of that town had made deals with the Genma that had taken up residence in that town. and they were being tricked into sacrificing parts of their body
[03:55] as a way to solve their problem. So one lady for example, she was like, oh I have to keep playing this instrument and the lady I doing it for she gets really really aggressively upset at me when I get it wrong And so the Genma like I can fix that I just take your fingers And she like great I do that
[04:11] And it's kind of like this really Faustian deal with the devil that has like a horror twist to it. And the whole goal is to kind of find the Genma that is taking those body parts and creating those deals and kill it.
[04:23] And once you do that, you get access to new abilities and that kind of stuff. So what I've played on Emusia so far previously, it's been exciting, I'm sure, what you've played of it feels good. And now I'm more eager than ever to get to September. In that very, very stacked September,
[04:36] it's one of the games that I'm going to be having at the top of my list to play immediately. I'm sure many, many other people will too. But yeah, that's the only one we'll show here at Summer Games First. Check out the demo yourself.
[04:48] This fight is my peeping face. What the hell is he doing? George Powell from my cadansons 5.8. They must have a piece of it.
[05:06] I can see your ears. I'll keep deflecting them to use all my stamina left. Let's see how those fight men. Oh, can you scratch me?
[05:23] No! No! My hand! That's super advantageous! Yeah! Whoa!
[05:40] Oh, oh, oh! We'll finish you to wake you! Oh, my power! Oh, my throne!
[05:52] It's going much smaller! He's got... Hands off!
[06:08] Make our whole tech back go Grrr Yes Hmph yes Mr Orchid Bingo He's got something for you! Oh shit...
[06:23] Where'd you go, McPherson?! Ow! Yes! Well, we really want to know what you are doing
[06:37] Wow, we're all right. We want to know what you are doing. Don't you leave? Oh, boy, I'm sorry, just grab it.
[06:50] I'm still... I'm gonna lie. I'll be driving, driving.
[07:02] I am unstoppable! This is Jane, Adam.
[07:17] I think it's a little bit. Oh, God. You're a little bit. What? I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. No enemies in this standard have been neglected for long.
[07:30] Once there are two, it's a victory for you. Once you're in the golden sea, it's like there are cuts. It will show you going to significant advances. You stick it in there.
[07:43] All right, all right! All right, do something about the godlet's fate! Or you just die!
[08:00] Oh, dear, guys.
