[02:41] Again, we had The Mall Show, we had The Pit, we had so much >> much TV that now we're finally getting into the movie part, and I'm like, "Yeah, I guess I could count on how many hands for for movies."

[02:54] >> There's a lot of good TV in the first half of the year. I think the great half of the year. But Toy Story 5 though is one of those singers. I think that's got to five figure Mount Rushmore. You saw the drama, right? Or did you not see

[03:07] the I was like, "I don't think this is for >> I I if if ti- if I didn't have so much TV to cover with you will see it. >> right when you in your theory basically.

[03:21] I was like, "I can't watch >> I'm going to watch that. I'm excited to see it. Um but what what So so far a decent year. I mean, the these movies have been hugely successful. Project Hail Mary, Obsession, Backrooms,

[03:34] Michael, Toy Story 5, all these movies are making a lot of money. Devil Wears Prada made over half a billion dollars. Devil Wears Prada 2. So like so far it's been a pretty healthy year, and I think the year's going to get both super

[03:47] financially, commercially successful, and critically successful. So like we have I don't know, 15 maybe more movies lined up for the rest of the year that we're going to go through one by one and Brian put together this amazing amazing

[04:00] hype list this tier list that we did and we're going to be sorting all of these movies. So Brian put this together and the S tier category we have seated opening weekend. In the A tier category we have definitely first week and the B

[04:13] tier we have if word of mouth is good. C tier we have wait till streaming and tier we have wait till streaming and then F tier not hyped for it at all. >> [laughter] >> No it's or it's just not on your radar.

[05:35] first week I will see it. So Minions and Monsters would have been in the A tier somewhere around there. But we'll start with the July 10th weekend. So that's going to be the Moana live action. Um now, through our work here at New

[05:49] Rockstars, we often go to early press screenings. So, we're kind of divorcing talking about if we actually did buy tickets. Because going to a press screening, I also bought a ticket to it and I'm going to

[06:01] see it again. Starting with the July 10th release of the Moana live action movie with The Rock playing like the live action version of Maui. Um he talked a lot about this movie a lot at CinemaCon, talked about how his paternal

[06:15] lineage, um like how important that was to him in playing this movie. So, they're trying to do with this movie what they did with um >> Yeah, they're trying to do >> So, how How are you feeling about this

[06:27] >> is, which is really hard actually to say, naturally without if I'm not covering it for work, I would probably say streaming for this cuz I would just watch it on the back end of one day. Uh but if word of mouth of it was so good,

[06:40] doubt in my mind I would go see it if word of mouth was like, actually, this is the second coming. >> I'd be like, holy [ __ ] Holy [ __ ] Cuz I assume because of it's being so uh

[06:53] young, that it's probably like shot-for-shot the same as the anime. And this movie. I'm like, yeah, I would be entertained. So, I just know what I'm short. >> I love the music of this.

[08:58] the movie comes out. There's You guys I wasn't even a Harry Potter book kid. I was a Twilight kid. So, like it takes me a long time to read these >> I'm currently reading the Emily Wilson translation.

[09:52] like it's got a good like, oh, I understand what these characters are emotionally going through. And it sounds like in all the press I'm seeing, every piece of marketing for this movie, it really seems like they are telling like

[10:04] a modern story of or almost a timeless story of like the kind of emotional arcs the guilt that they feel for their ingenuity. Helen of Troy at some point says, "Tell them I'm sorry." I'm like, to imagine Helen of Troy ever saying

[10:18] yeah, I think we're in agreement. S-tier. All right, so after that at San not many not many released we're looking at, but now we're in Spider-Man: Brand New Day July 31st. For me, this is another seated opening

[10:32] weekend, S-tier. I can't get enough of this movie. How are you feeling? >> Oh, oh, I took off Evil Dead Rise because you've seen it already. something. >> But where would you put Evil Dead Rise

[11:17] new rockstars, it's obviously huge one for us, but on top of just like how we're excited to see another Spider-Man movie, this movie just looks really Holland are are cooking up something really special here.

[58:53] Eisenberg movie, The Debut, that also looks really good. That's not on the an indie darling. I don't think it'll cross over into a $100 million opening being made by the studio in attempt to try to get over $100 million with them.

[1:01:16] uh typing under the siblings of people on their TikTok pages. The The siblings have been responding. They're like, long as we all know." Anaya, please. I need you to be better,

[1:01:31] >> Either way, everything bad is happening on Love Island. Uh Widow's Bay, I would marry. I would marry in a heartbeat. Great show, very funny, very silly. Uh I call it the scary uh Parks and Rec. Um and it feels like that.

[1:01:44] And I guess that leaves banging of Evil Dead Rise uh That That That movie is crazy. Uh if you Evil Dead fan still to this day that

[1:01:57] I'd recommend going seeing it because it's exactly what you want. Um a just a late night screening and I was kind of tired that I was like, "Oh my >> [laughter] >> I like that you want to uh bang the

[1:02:13] movie where killing happens and you want to kill the show where banging happens. >> Well, the show is upsetting me. And the But this is like, I don't know, Evil could see it. Like, it's very gory.

[1:02:25] it. >> not even the worst part. There's so much in the It was so crazy to have been recognized. Like, for Evil Dead Rise, with the cheese grater. And then we were like, "Oh, Evil Dead Rise, the

[1:02:38] dishwasher." And there's a lot worse scenes that happened in that movie than the dishwasher. It's insane. I It's crazy. It It >> [laughter] >> I um watched all of Lee Isaac Chung's

[1:02:52] >> Oh, I love the second season. >> You loved it? >> I thought I was kind of mixed. I loved the first season. Um I made me very excited to see anything Lee Isaac Chung does next, including writing the script

[1:03:06] Schreier directing. I think the two of them clearly know how to work together. Jake Schreier knows how to shoot action in a really awesome-looking way. hard. Like that's what's so great about him as like a screenwriter is like he

[1:03:23] >> No. >> He just goes directly there and has the character say the most meaningful, most emotionally true thing to each other in that moment that just breaks your heart and is funny and real and authentic.

[1:03:35] really excited to see what he does next, Marvel Studios X-Men and whatever else >> He'll be really good with the characters, I think. I think he'll do think authenticity is like the biggest thing that he draws my attention to cuz

[1:03:49] it's like, "Oh, yeah." It's not a lot of like clearly like what you hate, which completely understandable, a young child saying a bunch of [ __ ] like big words all of a sudden. I'm like, "No, he makes these like these people kind of dumb,

[1:04:03] kind of nervous, very anxious and how they react in real time." And I'm like, "I really like this about him." That I love Beef so much though. I >> So um going to make a bold casting choice

[1:05:50] feeling. Um but for whatever reason >> I need to tell Gina that. She's looking INTO IT RIGHT NOW. >> OH GOD. NO, SHE LOVES EVIL DEAD, BUT SHE she is the one that goes to the website all the time just to make sure. And I

[1:06:02] [ __ ] hate every time in horror movies they use like, "Oh yeah, the beast only I'm like, "Great. Shape of Water, you see this like dead cat half eaten on the >> Or Elf. >> Or that [ __ ] [ __ ] elf. [ __ ]

[1:06:16] dirty dookie ass alien elf eating my [ __ ] house cat. Why don't you eat A >> WOW. >> NO, BUT I love I'm sorry. I love I love >> Go ahead, I guess. I loved I I get what you're saying, too. Cuz I'm

[1:06:29] like, it did kind of slow down in the middle a lot, and it just like it went from slow then make sense grounded to very slow and then dramatic all of a sudden, and then this the heights were heightened.

[1:06:42] But I I don't know. I think it's just that internal the race relations part that I really was like, "Oh, I am obsessed with this." >> The the code-switching that Oscar Isaac has to do with the country club members

[1:06:57] so interesting. Uh Charles Melton as this interesting casting person who has to wrestle with. I love the exploration of all that. That's where I thought it was best. It was just when it turns into almost like this John Wick in Seoul

[1:07:12] South Korea. It made me want to visit Seoul for one. That it looks beautiful much green and like I want to go there. I don't care how humid it is. >> [laughter] >> but it got a little too over the top

[1:07:25] like kind of a a tech John Wick uh sequence where I was like, okay, this is no longer beef. It's like a really crazy sequence from White Lotus. A lot of >> the first Beef to White Lotus. I was like, oh, this is a great Well, I like

[1:07:39] the someone called it like the POC White Lotus. Uh and I was like, I would rather million times and it's not just because there's actual people of color in it. But it's like, I don't know. It's I

[1:07:54] season too much and I think it is the acting to be fair. Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan Ooh, are the I love Carey Mulligan in this dude. >> Yeah, I would call um Beef the domestic

[1:08:07] White Lotus. Cuz White Lotus is almost like colonial like worldwide. Um um it explores the ideas of colonialism and race relations at these was in Hawaii, but it does deal with that whole those colonial themes. Um

[1:08:21] whereas Beef season 1 is like domestic suburban Los Angeles. Season 2 is in Montecito, like Santa Barbara County. That it captures the the wealth gap and class warfare that exists in that particular county in an interesting way.

[1:08:35] But I think yeah, I like a show that explores that type of conflict here in California. >> And Southern California is very >> Yeah. >> And I'm like, oh, this is so I was like,

[1:08:49] >> And I'm like, oh, this is so I was like, this is so specific to any [ __ ] any damn. When it was the part where he was like, she was like, have you ever dated no, that'd be like dating my mom. >> Yeah. I went, let me write let me write

[1:09:03] a full essay on this [ __ ] right now. I was like, let me write it out right now. at interviews. And I wrote I went to every interview with that man. I was this. It's so >> When when when he goes

[1:09:16] I attracted to her? Can I see my future with her? Yes. IT'S LIKE, STOP >> CHARLES IS SUCH A HE'S SUCH A GREAT ACTOR. And I think people sleep on him. And he was great in that horrible horrible movie on Netflix that was with

[1:09:30] um it's horrible in a way that it was like, ooh traumatic. I can't watch this with Natalie Portman. He was the student that >> [laughter] >> it was
