10:33[00:12] "How did this happen?" Well, talk to Jack. He's the reason why. He said, "I want you to experience one of the original tried and true luxury SUVs, been trying to copy since the dawn of man." And here we are.
[00:27] This thing starts in the poverty spec around 113,000. Now, of course, we don't have that. We have the SE, which also adds an optional 4.4 L BMW V8, which has
[00:39] already got me interested. This is spec'd out, this one, around 135 grand. spec'd out, this one, around 135 grand. But you can get the SV or the SV Black, which puts the price tag at around $250,000.
[00:52] And clearly, that would be a trim level for some celebrity like me who's seeking of those and you're interested in the lower trim, here it is. You look at the outside, clearly compared to its competition, the big thing it has going
[01:06] for it is it's not try-hard. Yes, people are going to recognize it as a luxury SUV that you have money and all that, but the styling reminds me a lot of what Volvo's done. Something that is going to age well. It is not over styled, it is
[01:20] elegant, and it matches the brand ethos. So, the 360, it still looks good despite brands like Hyundai and Kia trying to copy them to death. The interior space is very much unrivaled in a lot of ways in terms of touch points, the leather
[01:34] configure this interior. I'm not even going to go over all of it, but you can lower trim like this, man, it feels good. And it's so quiet in here. It is so solid. Other brands have been trying to copy that, but it's not
[01:49] easy to do. And you know, you could argue reliability, cost of repair, and long-term ownership, but that's not what this is about. Door storage bright everything is great. It's just super silent in here. It's like a vault and
[02:04] I know it's a cliche, but it really is and I'm not joking. So, the next thing something we've argued with brands about for the past past 10 years. They hopped it's really its interior is the worst for it. The center screen is basically
[02:21] every single physical control is now in the center screen like many brands have cumbersome to use. You have to menu jump. The center gauge cluster is also a like hybrid touch buttons on the steering wheel. Basically, everything
[02:35] that you need to use is in the center display. While the they've integrated the screens is very clean to match the interior. put it that way. The sooner they get back to like the tried and true physical
[02:48] controls, the higher class this vehicle will be, but overall everything they've done in here is really really leagues above uh their commodity competition. From comfort, seating comfort, backseat, cargo, and cargo storage ability is
[03:03] want to know. We're going to head in the shop. Jack's going to briefly talk to about this, the options in terms of engines, and so much more.
[03:19] if you're in the market for this. >> Look, Mark, everybody cares about the L460 generation Range Rover. Big boy. This thing's been on the market since 2022. We are very late to this car. It is on MLA Flex, JLR's modular SUV
[03:33] architecture. Versus the outgoing Range Rover, it is 25% quieter and 50% more torsionally rigid. It is multi-link front and rear. It has dual chamber air springs and shocks as standard. It has rear steer as standard and has an
[03:47] optional 48-V sway bar. They architected this vehicle around the engine options. You have three for the US. You have a regular 48-V Ingenium inline six to horsepower. Then you have their plug-in hybrid Ingenium three liter turbocharged
[04:04] six with a just under 40 kilowatt hour battery which gives you about 50 miles >> No, thank you. >> And then of course, you have two different variants of the BMW V8. Up to 2025 there was the N63 the outgoing V8
[04:22] and now all V8s for the Range Rover are the S68. >> Which is what you want. It makes 523 horsepower and if you get the SV variant which stands for shareholder value, it is over
[04:35] 600 horsepower. They all get a two range or a low range transfer case, locking rear and center differential and this will forward up to 35 inches of water. It is still very off-road capable, has off-road sonar, all the off-road modes.
[04:49] >> Yes, they will. >> a $200,000 SUV. >> When your local area that never gets rain gets flooded out in the streets and going to go bowling through that full speed.
[05:01] >> Oh. >> There we go, Mark. So with that, let's >> There we go, Mark. So with that, let's go take this for a quick drive.
[05:22] >> Bought one of these for my only fans girlfriend and I'm still begging for girlfriend and I'm still begging for sex.
[05:40] >> This could be a thousand horsepower, you don't feel it. >> And it's perfect for it. >> What do you want out of your over >> anything. I don't want to be bothered. I don't want phone calls. I don't want
[05:53] texts. I don't want a fax. I don't want a page. I don't want a call from you saying, "Hey, I got something for you to do." No. I want to roll around. I want to pick up my slow-cooked ribs. I want to have a full slab in the backseat and
[06:05] >> Well, that is what this car does exceptionally well. And you and I, as much as it pains me to admit as a JLR fanboy, both think the Range Rover Sport that? You get an X5 or you get a Cayenne. This to me makes sense. It's
[06:22] ultra quiet. It's surprisingly nimble. And it rides almost as well as your BMW not do. >> I think it's better than the iX. It's not as quiet, but it rides over everything. Like I could drive over a
[06:36] even It wouldn't even jar your day. It wouldn't even make you bracket. >> Yeah, exactly. And the BMW drivetrain, you know, the Ingenium I6 that JLR created is
[06:53] it's fine. It's acceptable. But the way you buy this thing is with a BMW V8. >> With the ZF 8-speed and you don't think about anything. It's refined. It gets okay fuel economy, at least on par with your X7.
[07:06] It's It's basically the luxury SUV unibody Escalade every single day. >> And the benefit of this is it scales segment, you know, you can price this to
[07:20] the moon. And when I close three three or four different corporate offices and lay off about 20,000 people to make bonus, the SV is in my future. SV stands for shareholder value.
[07:32] >> Yeah, exactly. And you get more power. I want more power out of this that I don't need. I mean, I think the thing is is like when you get to the luxury SUV segment, there's a lot of good ones. Um but they all have some kind of like
[07:44] asterisks in terms of I wish it did that. I wish it did this. I love the fact that this thing is it just handles every I love that it handles every payment type. Like there's not one thing it doesn't do. Dynamically, yeah, it's
[07:57] >> not a Porsche. >> And it's not a BMW when you get up there, it doesn't handle great. But that's that's is why you don't you're not doing that in this anyway. It's kind of hilarious that you'd think oh maybe
[08:10] don't. I'm going to sit in traffic. I'm going to get stuck in traffic. I'm going Somebody's going to be yelling at me cuz I have more money. You know what I mean? Like the guy's just shouting at me. I'm like I don't
[08:23] doesn't matter. >> It's perfect. Like I As as it pains me to admit because these cars are usually driven by insufferable human beings. This is a perfect luxury SUV. You get it as a two row, you can
[08:36] space. But it's well packaged. It has lots of storage. It's very quiet. It rides well. It isn't cumbersome like the body on frame SUVs at this price point. it's a BMW drivetrain. >> Yeah, it basically takes the things that
[08:49] like but it really does fix most everything rides. And you know I would question anybody and I was kind of a doubter. for like years. Like you got it you got to drive a well spec'd one. I'm like
[09:04] [ __ ] it. I don't want to drive it. Why why would I care? And I I swear like anybody that's a doubter you just got to get in here and experience the things that this brand does so well and why so many other brands are trying to get to
[09:17] this place and copy them. It makes sense after you sit in here for a couple of >> the Beverly Hills status symbol along with the G Wagon and it makes sense why. Obviously right depreciates horribly. Probably isn't going to be the most
[09:29] reliable thing in the world though. It's what BMW drivetrain and basically everybody else's parts bin as As as suppliers for suspension and everything >> Pretty much. >> Right? Like you do you don't need this
[09:41] you want kind of like all the things that this this offers, you just tune it >> Pretty much. >> I I I know that's what people do anyway, >> All right, Mark. So, with that as we get taken out by a Nissan in a roundabout
[09:57] >> you go. Dynamic There we go. >> I need full control of this. >> Oh man, I need to see >> Yeah, you see you you go to >> that's the wrong thing. >> still using the eyes.
[10:11] >> a lap timer here. I would love to see that. I would love to see this thing turn out even a quarter lap. Let's see, one more turn for everybody. one more turn for everybody. >> ONE ONE 1.12 G
[10:33] polarizing vehicle to some. Like many luxury products, it's a flex of wealth or status. But if you're in the market for that has been the go-to for so long and why so many brands have copied it. In this
[10:46] iteration, it's fixed some of the problems I've had with their drivetrain. Having a BMW option here, one of the best V8s on the market, definitely makes this a far better vehicle to drive in terms of refinement. It handles low and
[10:58] high amplitude and different frequency impacts over every payment type better than pretty much every single brand on the face of the earth from BMW, the face of the earth from BMW, Mercedes. This is just how you handle
[11:10] isolating out people on the road. And that's why so many people go to it. It's electronics that do everything, and its materials, and the way that it looks is just
[11:22] it's good. It's good for a luxury product, and you can't take that away from them and all the work. Yes, of course, it's crazy expensive. It's going to be expensive to maintain and keep on the road and the resale
[11:34] that's not why you're buying it, right? If you have the money to have the best do everything kind of luxury box, this is it. Um I hope they fix the tech. I hope they go back to the basics and kind of
[11:48] reconnect with what luxury is versus tech-ification like every single brand And it would be pretty amazing if you had the money for something like this. Thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next video.
