03:32[00:00] In Stupid Never Dies, you play as Davey. He's the weakest monster around, and he's hopelessly in love.
[00:14] There's just one problem. His girlfriend just died. Now it's up to you to help him fight his way through hell to bring her back. Luckily, we've got you covered with six things you need to know to make it out in one piece.
[00:28] Or pieces. Let's get into it. Presented by Stupid Never Dies, available October 21st.
[00:41] Stupid Never Dies is a single-player 3D action RPG built around what the developers call blazing fast growth. When you first pick up the game, Davey will be a total pushover. But as you progress through waves of enemies and defeat bosses, you'll get stupid strong, stupid fast.
[00:57] And the team behind the game knows a thing or two about action Developer GPTRACK50 is led by producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi and includes veterans who have worked on hit series like Devil May Cry Dragon Dogma and Resident Evil
[01:11] So yeah, this might look like just a goofy zombie game, but its combat is made by people who have built some of the most iconic systems in gaming history. Fighting is cool, but what are you fighting for? Glad you asked.
[01:23] Let's give you some context here. After a great war, humanity is on the brink of extinction, and monsters rule the world. At the very bottom of that monstrous food chain is Davey, a zombie just scraping by
[01:37] in an abandoned shopping mall. One day he stumbles upon Julia, a human girl frozen solid in a freezer, and he's instantly down bad. So he comes up with a plan, bring her back to life, and then ask her out.
[01:51] Turns out to save her, Davey has to fight his way to the deepest depths of a dungeon, KOM, the King of Monsters, and reclaim humanity's stolen knowledge. No biggie.
[02:03] Thankfully Davey is friends with a crew of misfits who want to help him out There Dr Frank the eccentric scientist dreaming of restoring humanity He the one who pushes Davey into the dungeon in the first place Bessie, a biker zombie who hauls Davey back to the surface after every dive, and she also
[02:19] owns a restaurant, Bessie Burger, where you can unlock and upgrade zombie skills. Goyle, a stone statue who can't move on his own but does have clairvoyance and clairaudience to gather intel.
[02:31] And Ocelino, a chihuahua man, not a werewolf. He's Dr. Frank's right-hand man, developing and installing OT gear at Ink on the Brain to give Davey the edge in battle.
[02:44] In Stupid Never Dies, you are what you eat. With the style-eat mechanic, Davey can devour the cores of elite monsters to steal their powers and transform himself. Davey starts with the default zombie style, but there are ten more to unlock, including
[02:57] werewolf, vampire, and harpy. one plays completely differently, so mastering them all is key to taking on anything the dungeon throws at you But sometimes you have to drop some dead weight Good thing zombies don mind losing a limb Or four With the body hack mechanic you can rip off and replace Davey parts with Overtek gear
[03:20] equipping weapons and implants to his left arm, right arm, legs, and head. Different combos change up your abilities and tactics, so try to build some synergies to break your opponent's ranks. And watch out.
[03:32] The monsters can use Overtek too. Two enemies of the same type might fight totally differently depending on what they've got bolted on. Build up your gauge by landing hits and pulling off feats in combat, then unleash Davey Burst.
[03:47] When you do, your stats go through the roof, and the world gets overridden by Davey's wild imagination for an over-the-top spectacle. You can even upgrade it to make the moment hit even harder.
[04:02] Stupid Never Dies is available October 21st on PlayStation 5 and PC. Which style are you most excited to sink your teeth into? Let us know in the comments. And for all things gaming, keep it here on IGN.
