[00:00] 2025 proved that Hollywood has absolutely no idea what it's doing anymore. Yes, we got some genuinely great films, like Sinners and One Battle After Another. Movies that reminded people how cinema can still be powerful.
[00:12] But then we also got films like the live-action Snow White. Words cannot describe how bad this movie was, and the fact those movies existed within the same year should tell you everything about how chaotic this industry has become.
[00:24] And now, suddenly, I keep seeing people say that 2026 is gonna be the best year for movies. Like cinema is back, we're saved. And every time I see that take, my eye twitches a little bit,
[00:36] because I don't know who started that rumor, but it feels optimistic. Of course, you have films that I am positive are gonna be unreal, like the Odyssey, for example. But then you have films like The Devil Wears Prada 2.
[00:48] Who the hell asked for a sequel 20 years after the first one, and whose decision was it to cast Sydney Swini? You're just setting the movie up for failure. So instead of blindly buying into this movie hype,
[01:00] I wanted to actually test it. So today I'm gonna be tear-ranking every major movie coming out in 2026, and predicting how good they're realistically gonna be. We're talking the good, the bad, the why are they even making this?
[01:13] I'm gonna be ranking these movies on a tailist made up of five categories. Number one, we have absolute cinema. These are for movies that I think will be literal perfection, and go down in history as one of the greats.
[01:25] Number two, we have They Cooked. These are for movies that I think will be just good. They're very enjoyable. Next up, we have It Was A Movie. This one's pretty self-explanatory. You know those movies when after you watch it,
[01:37] or you can think was, yeah, that was a movie. It's the perfect mid-category. Next, we have Completely Forgettable. These are for movies that probably should have stayed an idea. And lastly, we have Fire the Person who made this.
[01:51] And I mean that so literally, Fire the Person who made this movie. I'm gonna be going through these movies by release date, so if you're here for the big blockbusters like Doom Part Three and Avengers Doomsday, you're gonna have to wait till the end.
[02:03] And I already know at least one of these rankings is gonna cause some serious problems in the comments. Trust me after watching this video, you'll either be hyped or horrified for what's to come. Probably both.
[02:15] First we have on my list is People We Meet on Vacation which comes out on January 19th. This movie is a highly anticipated book adaptation by popular book talk author Emily Henry. This story follows our characters Poppy and Alex
[02:27] who are complete opposites. Poppy wants to explore the world whilst Alex prefers to stay home with a good book. But somehow, despite this, they are the very best of friends. They live far apart before the past decade
[02:39] they've been spending one week of summer holiday together. But guess what, guys, I've already read this book and sadly, I absolutely hated it. Not only did I think the premise was in absolute snooze fest, but I also despised the friends to love his trope.
[02:54] And before anyone says, hey, you're spoiling it for people who haven't read the book. Yeah, I thought so too. Until I sold a movie's poster, which literally says when your best friend is actually your soulmate. Oh right, yeah, cheers, guys.
[03:07] Tell everyone exactly what happens. I mean, seriously, you can have just alluded to it by saying something like, some lines aren't meant to be crossed. But no. So clearly from the get-go, this movie is solely being marketed towards fans
[03:20] who have already read the book, which is just so lazy. A movie's poster isn't supposed to confirm the plot for existing fans, it's supposed to create intrigue for everyone else. So by completely spoiling it on the poster,
[03:32] you've already decided that the only audience that matters is the people who have read it, which is really not good. So with all that being said, and the fact that the book is my least favourite of hers, I really don't have much hope for it,
[03:44] and I think it's going to be forgettable. Next up, we have Deadman's Wire, which comes out on January 16th. It's based on a true story about a man named Tony Carritzis, who in 1977, it kidnapped a mortgage company executive.
[03:58] He held him hostage with something called a Deadman's Wire, which was wrapped around both of their necks and attached to a trigger. So basically, if the police tried to stop Tony in any way, the gun would go off. Sounds anxiety-inducing in the best way possible.
[04:11] I love these types of movies that centre around one event, especially when the stakes are so horrifyingly high. I mean, it was a real-life case, where a man literally turns himself into a trigger. That's going to have you on the edge of your seat,
[04:24] if it's done right. But that's a big if, because this type of movie lives or dies on its tension. A good example of a movie that does tension well is Uncut Gems, because it was basically two hours of constant stress,
[04:36] which kept you locked in. If Deadman's Wire can pull that off, it's going to be fantastic. It helps that it stars Dekor Montgomery and Bill Skarsgard to criminally underrated actors. I think we all know that Bill Skarsgard can play
[04:50] unhinged very, very well. I predict this movie is going to pull this off, so I'm going to stick it into they cooked. On January 23rd, we get the movie Mercy. The story follows a detective who stands on trial
[05:03] accused of murdering his own wife. He has just 90 minutes to prove his innocence to this AI judge. If he fails to prove his innocence, he'll be executed on the spot. Wow, crazy premise for this one. The thing that makes this interesting to me
[05:17] is in the countdown, it's the AI judge. Because now the movie isn't just asking, did he do it? It's asking whether an algorithm should ever get to decide who lives or dies. That's a terrifying question for a film to ask,
[05:29] and even more scary when you consider how fast AI is evolving in our real world. But despite how interesting of a premise this is, I have no hope for this movie. Why, you may ask?
[05:41] Well, because it stars Chris Pratt, the goofy one-note actor who literally just plays himself in every single role. I mean, seriously, who the hell sees the premise of this sci-fi thriller and things?
[05:54] Yeah, Chris Pratt is our guy. It immediately lowers the IQ of this movie by 30 points, at least. So for that reason, it's going straight into why the person who made it. I know that might be controversial,
[06:07] maybe I just have this ongoing one-sided-be for the Chris Pratt, but that's where it's gonna go. Next, we have one that I am super excited for, Send Help, which comes out on January 30th. It's a horror thriller which follows two colleagues
[06:21] who hate each other's guts. Safe to say things get a little bit complicated when they become stranded on a desert island together after a plane crash. The trailer for this movie is so entertaining, and I am in love with this concept.
[06:34] Finally, something original. Also, can we please just take a moment to appreciate the natural beauty that is Rachel McAdams? Finally, an actress who can actually convey emotion whose face isn't frozen solid by Botox.
[06:46] Yeah, I have high hopes of this one. Not absolute cinema high, but I think it's gonna be good, so I'm going to put it in, they cooked. February 13th, we have the controversial weathering heights adaptation.
[06:58] Based on the 1847 Gothic romance book, Tragedy Strikes, when Heathcliff falls in love with Catherine Ernshaw, a woman from a wealthy family in 18th century England. Fans of the classic book were on the edge
[07:10] of their seats to see who was going to be cast as 18-year-old Catherine Ernshaw. This really shouldn't have been hard considering the book describes her in great detail with emphasis on the fact that she is not traditionally pretty,
[07:24] so please tell me why they turn around and cast Margot Robbie for the role. Margot Robbie, arguably one of the most beautiful actresses of all time, playing 18-year-old Catherine Ernshaw, but hold on because it gets worse.
[07:37] The trailer finally drops, and at first I was confused about what I was watching. It looked like a trailer for 50 Shades of Grey. Keep in mind that the book has absolutely nothing sexual in it, so you can imagine the shock and confusion
[07:49] of people who know the story. And to top it all off, the entire soundtrack for this movie was made by the artist Charlie XeX. No, that is not a joke. She wrote an entire album for it.
[08:01] So as an adaptation of the classic book, I think this movie is going to be a hate crime, but as a film itself, I think it's going to actually be okay. It's the same director who did Saltburn, and I surprisingly love that movie.
[08:13] So I think for that reason, it's going to have to go bang in the middle with, it's just a movie. Next we have Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die, which comes out on February 13th. A man who says he's from the future
[08:25] shows up at a diner claiming he needs to recruit a team to help him save humanity from the threat of artificial intelligence. This looks really fun. I've missed these types of imaginative, entertaining movies. I feel like they went extinct in the 2000s.
[08:38] Another exciting aspect about this is that it's directed by Pirates of the Caribbean director, Galva Binsky, who has been in hiding for nearly 10 years now. So people are super hyped to see what he comes out with, and the fact that it's an entertaining story
[08:51] with a great cast makes me even more excited. I'm really stuck on where to put this. I wish I could stick it in the middle of it's a movie, and they cooked, but I can't. So I think I'm just going to be brave
[09:03] and put it in they cooked. On February 20th, we have How to Make a Killing. This owned up birth by his wealthy family, a Beckett Red Fellow, will stop at nothing to reclaim his inheritance, no matter how many relatives stand in his way.
[09:16] First of all, naming your lead character Beckett Red Fellow was certainly a choice. Not a very good one, but apart from that, for me, the movie itself could go one or two ways. Best case is a genuinely entertaining adventure
[09:29] that hooks you in immediately. Worst case, it feels more like a Netflix original movie. I'm talking major gray man vibes. Truth is, I can't really give a solid opinion about this because I don't really like action movies.
[09:44] I know, I know, shame on me. But people do seem to be excited about this movie, which does give me hope. But for me, this type of movie just screams it's a movie vibes, and yeah, I'm just going to have to stick it there.
[09:56] Who knows, maybe it will surprise me. Also, whoever made this poster needs to get a pay rise. Next up, we have The Sheep Detectives, which comes out on February 26th. Every night, a shepherd named George reads murder mystery books
[10:08] to his heart of sheep, pretending they can understand him. What he doesn't know is that they actually understand every single word. So in George is suddenly found dead under mysterious circumstances, the sheep's decide to solve the crime themselves.
[10:21] As ridiculous as this plot is, I can't tell you how much I love its originality, especially given the fact that the cast is absolutely stacked. I predict that this is going to be one of those films that is fun whilst you're watching,
[10:34] but you forget everything that happens a month later. So I think I'm going to throw this in forgettable. Next up on February 27th, we get Scream Seven. Yes, they made a seventh. When a new ghost face killer emerges in the quiet town
[10:47] where Sydney Prescott has built a new life, her darkest fears are realised as her daughter becomes the next target. Honestly, the only thing I can think about is I don't know why they continued going on with this movie considering all the controversy around it.
[11:01] If you didn't hear, back in 2023, Melissa Barrera, who was the lead of the fifth and sixth movie, was fired by spyglass media for a pro-Palestine tweets, which the company labelled anti-Semitic. Her firing led the movie's director, Christopher Landon,
[11:15] to also lead the project because he said that the film he signed on to make no longer existed without her. Following this, her co-star, General Ortega, also quit the franchise allegedly in solidarity. So they lost both their leading ladies and their director.
[11:28] You'd think at that point they would just pack up the franchise or make a spin-off, but no. Instead, they decided to bring back the original lead as if that fixes everything. It's just a complete mess,
[11:41] and based on this last-minute chaos, I have serious doubts about how this movie will turn out. So I think the only place for this is unforgettable. On the 6th of March, we get the movie The Bright. In 1930s Chicago, a scientist brings a young woman back to life
[11:55] to be a companion for Frankenstein's monster. The trailer for this movie immediately had me hooked. I love it when a trailer focuses on making you feel an atmosphere rather than just telling you everything that happens.
[12:07] From what I've gathered, it's giving Gothic, Bonnie and Clyde energy, and I am all for it. My only fear is that this type of movie could either be incredible or incredibly cringe. There is no in-between, but I have hope that it's going to be incredible.
[12:22] Maybe not absolute cinema, but I'm definitely going to say they cooked with this. Next up we have a Disney Pixar's movie Hoppers, which comes out on March 6th. When scientists discover a way to transform human consciousness into robotic animals,
[12:35] Mabel uses the technology to put herself into an animal. So she can now understand what the animals are saying, and they do some crazy things, I don't really know. To be honest, this just sounds really boring to me.
[12:47] I'm sorry, I just have no hope with Pixar anymore after all of their recent disasters. I'm looking at you, Elio. I honestly don't think it's the worst premise, I do think a lot of people will probably end up enjoying it.
[12:59] But when you compare it to Pixar's older films, it just doesn't compete. Every single one of them was a certified classic that cemented itself in your mind. This one to me just feels super forgettable. I mean, I'll give it a chance just because I like the fact that it's original,
[13:13] but I don't know, they've just let me down so much that I can't trust them, so I'm gonna have to just go... it's a movie. I hope I don't regret putting it that high. Next up, we have Reminders of Him, which comes out on March 13th.
[13:28] After a perfect outing with a boyfriend, a Kenna makes a mistake that sends her to prison for seven years. Hoping to rebuild her life after her release, she soon finds unexpected compassion from a local bar owner as their secret romance gives Kenna hope for a second chance.
[13:42] Wow, what a crazy plot! At first, I thought this movie sounded at least somewhat interesting until I remembered that it's an adaptation of a Colleen Hoover book. For those of you who have the pleasure of not knowing who Colleen Hoover is,
[13:55] she's a controversial book talk author who writes lines like this. Hey, what does that mean, by the way? Do you mean by that, by the way? Yeah, and she's also responsible for writing the book and movie it ends with us,
[14:09] and we all know how that went down. I just think there are far better books to be adapted, and the fact that she has like four or five books coming out within the next two years is insane. So for that reason, I'm going to put it in
[14:22] Fire the Bastion who made it, because I don't want to see any more of them. Speaking of books we should adapt instead, I give you Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, which has now been turned into my most anticipated film of 2026.
[14:36] Science teacher Ryland Grace wakes up on a spaceship with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory slowly returns, he soon discovers that he's on a last transmission to save the earth.
[14:48] This book is hands down my favorite book of all time, and I don't think it can ever be beaten. It's life-changing. I don't want to give anything else away, and please don't watch the trailer, because although it's amazing,
[15:00] it does give away a huge spoiler, which I think is so much better if you just go into the movie blind. The writer was heavily involved in making it. The cinematography looks unreal. The directors are super passionate,
[15:12] which all makes me have the highest of hopes for this movie. I predict that this movie is going to be absolute cinema. There is no other place for it. Please, if there is one movie you see this year, make it Project Hail Mary, okay?
[15:25] Next up, we have The Drama, which comes out on April 3rd. The actual plot of this movie is very mysterious. All we know so far is that it follows a couple in the days leaning up to their wedding when they suddenly end up in a crisis
[15:37] after a shock revelation derails what one of them thinks of the other. The trailer is also quite ominous, which I really love. I way prefer going into movies, not knowing anything about it. I'm the same with books.
[15:49] I will not even read the back of the book. I will just go straight into it. I don't want to know anything. That being said, the basic premise of this doesn't really excite me too much. I don't know. I'm 50-50 on this. I think it could honestly go either way,
[16:02] so I think I'm just going to play it safe and stick it in. It's a movie. On the 3rd of April, we get the Super Mario Galaxy movie. The actual plot hasn't been revealed just yet, but it follows Mario, Luigi,
[16:15] and Princess Peach, as they embark on an adventure across the galaxy. It's a sequel to the 2023 Super Mario movie, which I surprisingly loved. I went into that movie with such low expectations, thinking it was just going to be
[16:27] one of those goofy kid movies with a bunch of fart jokes. But to my shock, it was genuinely funny, and I ended up having such a great time. I can't see this movie being better than the first, but I think it could be on the same level,
[16:40] so I'm going to have to put this in. They cooked. Next up, we have Michael, which comes out on the 24th of April. The film tells the story of Michael Jackson's life beyond the music, from his early days in the Jackson 5
[16:52] to the visionary artists who became the biggest entertainer in the world. Even though I'm not a Michael Jackson super fan, I am a sucker for a biopic, so I am excited for this one. The only thing that concerns me
[17:04] is that Michael was and still is super controversial. I don't see this movie actually diving into any of these controversies, especially when his nephew is playing him. That's why I really like the movie Better Man,
[17:16] which is the Robbie William biopic. Even if you don't know who Robbie is, it's still a great movie, and I loved how they didn't try to clean up his past, like so many of these movies do. From what I read online, there was apparently a lot of legal issues
[17:29] with the Michael film, where they couldn't actually recreate any of his trials. So they had to scrap the original ending and restructure it so that it finishes in his thriller era. That alone makes me have a lot of doubt for the structure of this film
[17:42] with all these last-minute changes. So I think there's a possibility it could end up really messy. So I think for that reason, I'm just gonna have to put it in it's a movie. On the 1st of May, we get The Devil Wears Prada 2,
[17:55] which is 20 whole years after the 1st movie. We don't have an exact plot yet, but we do have this teaser trailer where it looks like Andy is now on the same level as her once ruthless boss Miranda Priestley.
[18:07] But guys, if there is one thing I hate, it is a cash grab legacy sequel. I'm still dealing with the trauma from watching the all-fall free-here Friday movie. I don't need another one. And it's especially painful here, because I genuinely love The Original Devil Wears Prada.
[18:22] These kinds of sequels don't add anything, they just slowly chip away at the reputation of a movie that people already adored. And to make matters worse, they've gone uncasted Sydney's Sweeney in the movie. I recently watched her in the house made
[18:34] and I am sorry, but her performance genuinely ruined what could have been a pretty decent film. I just don't understand how she keeps getting hired. So originally this was headed into it's a movie tier, but unfortunately Sydney's casting alone
[18:48] knocks it down a level straight into forgettable. Or should it go on fire the person who made it? Oh, I don't know. I think I'm just going to keep it unforgettable. Next up on the 12th of June, we have Disclosure Day. The trailer for this movie hardly tells us anything.
[19:01] All we know is that it's about humans making contact with extraterrestrial life. I am cautiously optimistic about this one. Of course I will be seated for anything Steven Spielberg directs, but alien movies are notoriously hard to pull off.
[19:16] They're either absolute cinema or sloppy cringe. But because it's Spielberg, I'm leaning more towards the absolute cinema side of things. Honestly, I think the hardest part about this movie for me will be trying to ignore Emily Blunt's new wax figure face.
[19:30] Let's just hope she can still give us some type of emotion. I'm just going to gamble and say that they cooked with this one. Next up, we have a movie that I wish was never made. Toy Story 5 which comes out on June 19th.
[19:43] The story follows Woody, Buzz and all the usual gang of toys as they deal with a new enemy. Technology. I honestly don't even want to talk about this movie because it just makes me so sad. There is just no need for a fifth toy story.
[19:56] There wasn't even a need for a fourth. If you've seen the movies, then you will know that the third movie had the most perfect ending with Andy growing up and leaving his toys. That was the perfect trilogy. I at least like this one more than the fourth
[20:10] because I can't even remember what happened in the fourth. But something I can't get over is how bad the animation style is. Despite them having a way better technology, the animation looks so cheap and smoothed out
[20:22] compared to the originals which had so much death. I can't see this movie being anything better than it's a movie and that is me being extra nice. On the 26th of June we get the Supergirl movie.
[20:34] While celebrating her 21st birthday, Supergirl travels across the galaxy with a dog crypto where she embarks on a murderous quest for revenge. From the trailer alone, everyone has been saying that the exact same thing.
[20:46] It looks like a Guardians of the Galaxy rip off. It has the old school music with the offbeat lead character. Personally, I don't see this as a bad thing because I love Guardians of the Galaxy. I don't really understand why people are too upset at this.
[21:00] I think it just goes to show that people don't really care about superhero movies anymore. To really win people back, I think you need something crazy, something fresh, something that people haven't seen before. That Supergirl trailer was just painfully average.
[21:14] So for that reason, I predict that it will be forgettable. On July 10th we get the live-action Moana remake. The story follows the adventurous teenager Moana who has a special connection to the sea. Now personally, I love the original Moana.
[21:28] It's beautifully animated, genuinely heartfelt, and knows exactly what it's trying to be. That being said, I am beyond exhausted by Disney's live-action era. Time and time again, they manage to annoy their own fans
[21:40] by rewriting perfectly good stories to modernize them and the changes are almost always a pointless. Like in the live-action Snow White, when they decided to change her whole personality so that she wasn't boy-crazy,
[21:53] she had to be a strong independent woman. There was no reason to change the original story and it's just so annoying. What does give me hope about Moana is that Disney's in the position where they know people are angry.
[22:05] They know they keep messing this up and for once it seems like they might actually be listening. From the teaser trailer at least, it looks fine, not amazing, but not instantly offensive, which at this point is progress.
[22:18] So for that reason, I'm going to put this in its movie. Next up we have The Backrooms, which doesn't have a release date yet, but it's said to be 2026. I cannot tell you how excited I am for this movie
[22:30] and I need to tell you guys about it. So this guy named Kane Passon started out by posting these YouTube horror videos called The Backrooms, which was based on this creepy past legend. His videos are hugely popular and incredibly well-made.
[22:43] And then last year, things escalated quickly. A24 stepped in and picked up the project announcing that they had plans to turn it into a feature film with Kane himself set to direct. So at just 19 years old,
[22:55] Kane is now the youngest director in A24 history. I mean, how cool is that? I was also shocked to see how stacked this cast was. I love how studios are taking chances on new directors like this
[23:08] and I really need everyone to go and support it when it comes out. I have really high hopes for this. It is exactly the type of experimental movie that I want to see more of. So I'm going to say they cooked.
[23:20] Next up on the 17th of July, we get the Odyssey. Odysseus, King of Ithaca, embarks on an epic 10-year journey to return home after the Trojan War. The premise of this movie is honestly too complicated to explain anymore,
[23:33] but just trust me when I say that this is going to have to be experienced on the biggest screen possible. We're talking epic battles between gods and monsters, absurdly high stakes and a world that feels massive.
[23:46] It's not just endless CGI slop, but they created real ships and filmed it out at sea. To top it all off, it's directed by Christopher Nolan, a director who genuinely does not miss. This feels like it's going to be a cinematic experience.
[23:59] The type of movie that reminds people why going to the cinema is worth it. I really don't think that this can go anywhere but absolute cinema. I have such high hopes for it. On the 31st of July, we get Spider-Man Brand New Day.
[24:12] The story focuses on Peter Parker starting over after No Way Home, a balancing college and work with his hero duties in a world that doesn't remember him. Guys, am I the only one who just doesn't really care about this movie?
[24:24] And I'm saying that as one of the biggest Spider-Man fans, this will be the fourth Tom Holland Spider-Man movie and I'm just not excited about it. The MCU fatigue is so unbelievably real.
[24:36] Don't get me wrong, I will be seated the day that this comes out, but I don't know, I just don't think it's going to be anything special. So I'm going to have to say it's just a movie. Next on September 11th,
[24:48] we have Sense and Sensibility. After their father's death, the Dashwood sisters are forced to move to a country cottage where they navigate financial hardship and complicated romance. It's based on the classic novel
[25:00] of the same name, which has had so many adaptations throughout the years, so I don't know how this one could be any different. However, Daisy Edgar Jones has the most perfect period drama face and so for that reason alone,
[25:12] it gives me a little bit of hope, so I'm going to put this in it's a movie. There's already so many in this category, but I can't see it being forgettable, so it's just going to have to stay there.
[25:25] Up next, we have another superhero genre movie, but this one is slightly different. On the 11th of September, we get Clayface. Based on the character from the DC Comics, Clayface is a dark,
[25:37] r-rated body horror film that follows an actor who becomes disfigured by a gangster. Guys, did I just get excited for a DC movie? This is exactly what I wanted to see, this type of experimental fresh take.
[25:49] It's directed by James Watkins who is a great horror director, and the screenplay is by Mike Flanagan, who made my favorite limited series of all time the haunting of Hill House. I'm still a little bit skeptical just because it's DC,
[26:02] but I don't know. I think I'm just going to take the gamble and say that they cooked with this one. On the 25th of September, we get Forgotten Island. This DreamWorks movie follows two best friends who are stranded in a fantastical world
[26:15] and can only escape by forgetting each other forever. There is no trailer for this movie yet, but from the story alone, I'm sold. It seems like a great mix of adventure and heart without being too much of a trauma dump.
[26:28] I just love how all these animation studios have been slowly taking over Disney and Pixar's place since they have been continuously flopping. Again, I'm going to gamble with this
[26:40] and predict that they cooked with this one. Oh my god, is that crazy to say? That sounds a little bit crazy. I'm just going to leave it there, okay? Anything could happen. Next up, we have the movie Digger on the 2nd of October.
[26:53] The most powerful man in the world causes a disaster and embarks on a mission to prove that he is the savior of humanity. I am excited to see Tom Cruise in this type of black comedy movie and the supporting cast looks phenomenal as well.
[27:07] Obviously, with a lot of these later in the year movies, there's not a lot to go off without the full trailers, but hey, one thing's for sure. Tom Cruise has a passion for cinema and so do I. Do I just go crazy
[27:19] and put this in absolute cinema or is that insane? I don't know. I have this weird feeling that it's going to be amazing, so... Hey, let's just go crazy and hope it pays off. Please don't let me down.
[27:31] Next on the 2nd of October, we have Verity. The story follows a woman named Lowen who gets hired by Jeremy Crawford to ghost write novels for his best-selling author, wife Verity. Verity is currently unable
[27:43] to continue writing for herself after a serious accident. Guess what? This is another book adaptation from author, Colleen Hoover. Now look, I know that earlier in this video, I was absolutely pooping
[27:55] on Colleen Hoover's writing, so this is going to be embarrassing to say, but... I actually loved this book. It's one of our only thriller novels and it is so addictively good. It doesn't feel like a Colleen Hoover book
[28:07] if that makes sense. So on paper, that should give me a little bit of hope, but in reality, it doesn't, because I am so burnt out with these book talk adaptations. They just seem to be made with such little care.
[28:20] They create them solely for this book talk audience because these studios know that they will show up no matter what. And when that's the priority, the quality of the movie becomes an afterthought. So as much as I want this movie to be good,
[28:32] I have no hope for it, so I'm going to put this in forgettable, and I really hope it proves me wrong. Next on the 9th of October, we have the social reckoning. It follows Francis Hogan,
[28:44] a young Facebook engineer who enlisted the help of Jeff Horowitz, a Wall Street Journal reporter, to blow the whistle on the social network's most guarded secrets. It is way too early to really predict anything about this movie, but based on the fact
[28:57] that it has a fantastic cast and a great plot, I think has a high chance of being good. So let's just cut to the chase with this one and throw it in. They cooked. On the 23rd of October, we get the movie remain,
[29:09] a grieving architect moved to Cape Cod for work after leaving a psychiatric facility. While staying at a historic Airbnb, he meets a mysterious woman who makes some question his rational beliefs about life and loss.
[29:21] Sounds pretty spooky, doesn't it? Love the plot, love the cast. The only thing that throws me off is that it's been directed by M. Knight Shaman. Yes, he's directed great movies like Split, but the last movie I watched of his was Trap,
[29:34] where he casted his own daughter in one of the lead roles. Here's how that went.
[29:46] Yeah, so that's definitely knocked it down a few pegs for me. I still think the plot is really interesting, though. So I'm going to have to stick it in. It's a movie. I think that's the perfect place. On the 6th of November, we get the cat in the hat.
[30:00] The cat in the hat faces his toughest assignment yet, where he has to cheer up a Gabby and Sebastian, a pair of siblings struggling to move to a new town. I honestly don't think I've ever been so not excited for a movie before.
[30:12] Like, I think that someone is actually going to have to pay me to watch this. I hate the animation style. The story sounds incredibly boring. I just don't understand why this movie was made. What was the reason?
[30:24] I don't know. Maybe I just have beef with the cat in the hat, but I'm kind of putting this in by the person who made it. And I know that's mean, but I'm not interested in this movie at all. On the 20th of November, we get the Hunger Games Sunrise on the Reaping.
[30:38] I am so excited for this one. The story takes place 24 years before the first movie and follows a young Hamage during the 50th Hunger Games. I can't tell you how much I love the Hunger Games series and hearing what people say about the book,
[30:51] apparently this one is going to be unreal. I haven't read the book. I don't want to read the book. I don't want any spoilers. So please don't comment any spoilers. One thing I love about this movie is how they caused a relatively unknown actor
[31:04] in the lead role at Joseph Zeta. From the trailer alone, he looks phenomenal and I love how they had such a mix of known and unknown actors in this. I have a feeling this is going to be really good and it's one of my most anticipated of the year,
[31:17] so I'm going to gamble and put this in absolute cinema, I think. Yeah, I just have a good feeling about it. I'm gonna go a little bit faster throughout the next ones, considering we have hardly anything to go off of.
[31:30] So it's basically just blind predictions. On the 25th of November, we have Focca and Law, a young man named Henry, son of Greg and Pam Focca, faces family chaos when he decides to marry a strong-willed woman who appears to be his complete mismatch.
[31:44] I really don't have that much interest for this movie at all. I think the premise is boring. The cast doesn't really excite me. I don't think the movie's going to be bad, but I'm just not really looking forward to it.
[31:57] I am curious to see Ariana Grande's performance in it because we haven't seen her in anything other than wicked. So I think for those reasons alone, I'm going to put this in forgettable. I think a lot of people will really enjoy it,
[32:10] but for me, it's a no. On the 25th of November, we get the Disney movie Hexed. The film follows an awkward teenage boy and his type A Filipino mother who discovers his quirks are actually hidden magical powers.
[32:22] It focuses on themes of self-acceptance and family bonds as they learn to embrace their uniqueness. I am so sorry, but I'm so sick of Disney's obsession with drama.
[32:34] It's always the exact same tropes in all of their recent movies that stop making every single one of them about generational trauma. I don't get it. They do it so much that I made a whole 40-minute video on this issue alone.
[32:46] I just really don't see how this is going to be any different from their previous ones. I don't have any hope for it at all, so I'm going to go and fire the person who made it. I'm sorry. On the 26th of November, we have the movie Narnia.
[33:00] The Chronicles of Narnia is set within the fantastical realm of fantasy and magic and tells an epic tale of war and peace within the kingdom. I'm really curious about this movie because at first, I didn't really see a point of it.
[33:12] I was kind of angry at it because we had all the amazing Narnia movies that were made before. But seeing all the on-set photos, I think the set design and the costume mean that just looks amazing and it does make me excited for it.
[33:24] I'm also curious to see how Greta-Garwig will go about directing the movies and I think she's going to do a good job. I don't think it's going to be absolute cinema level but I'm definitely going to predict that they cooked.
[33:36] On the 11th of December, we get a Dumanji 3. When Spencer goes back into the world of Dumanji, his friends re-enter the game to bring him home. But the game is now broken and fighting back. I didn't even think Dumanji was that popular
[33:49] of a franchise to be making a third one but here we are. To be honest, I feel like they already completely explored the world. I can't see what else they can do next that could warrant it being another movie.
[34:01] To me, again, it just seems like another lazy cash grab sequel. I'm not interested. I don't think it's going to be very good so I'm going to say forgettable. Next up, we have Dune Part 3,
[34:13] which releases on December 18th. Set 12 years after Dune Part 2, Paul is now the Emperor. A holy war in his name is taking place as the people within the world plot to overthrow him. Now, this plot isn't actually confirmed yet,
[34:26] but it is what insiders think the movie is going to be. Especially as they're adapting the Dune Messiah book. Dune Part 2 was genuinely one of my favorite movies of 2024. I rated it five stars, which is rare for me,
[34:39] but I thought it was just unbelievable. So I would say that gives me high expectations for Part 3, but the only thing that's thrown me off is how they cast Jason Mahmoa's son as one of the most important roles.
[34:52] He's playing the role of Timothy's son, and guys get this. He has no acting training. Nothing. I'm like, no, no, you can't act. No, you're not going to be listening to this. No, no, no. And then he literally, and he did it on his own.
[35:06] This is a classic case of nepotism, and Jason Mahmoa is even out here saying that he had no involvement in it. For the people who don't know, Jason is also in the Dune movies, but no, he had no involvement in his son being cast.
[35:21] I hate it so much. I still think it's going to be good though, so for that reason, oh, I don't know. I don't think it will be as good as the second one, but the second one was like a tear above absolute cinema,
[35:34] so I think I'm going to put this in absolute cinema. Then on the very same day, we get the release of Avengers Doomsday. The plot so far is unknown, but we do know that it's going to be centered around Dr. Doom,
[35:46] who is played by Robert Downey Jr. Why they cast the man who plays Iron Man as now the new villain, I don't know. Many characters of the previous films are returning such as Chris Evans as Captain America,
[35:58] and plenty of actors from the original X-Men films. Also, returning are a bunch of newer characters from the MCU, such as the Fantastic Four and the Thunderbolts. I don't know, to me, I just feel like it's going to be iffy, given how many characters are going to be in it.
[36:12] They posted a character announcement video with all the actors' chairs, and it just kept going. The MCU are obviously just struggling after endgame with trying to get any sort of audience interested in their films.
[36:24] I think it's going to do well in the box office, but I don't think it's going to be that good of a movie. So I think for that reason, I'm going to probably hurt a lot of people's feelings and put it in it's a movie. I can't see it going anywhere else.
[36:37] And finally, we have The Movie Werewolf, which comes out in December. In Medieval Britain, a mysterious creature stalks the foggy countryside, a transforming local folklore into terrifying reality as villagers face an ancient supernatural threat.
[36:50] The film is directed by Robert Eggers, who is known for doing these unreal, gothic period dramas. Films such as The Witch, The Lighthouse, and Nosferatu. I just love his unique style, and to have a director in this modern era
[37:03] who does these original middle-budget movies, which do well both critically and commercially is just fantastic. Something really cool about this movie is that some of the script is written in middle English, which is the language that was spoken in England
[37:16] in the 13th century. I think I'm going to have to put this film in, they cooked, but I think if you're already a huge Robert Eggers fan, I think you're going to absolutely love this movie. He hits every time,
[37:29] and I think it's going to be great. So yeah, that is my completed list. There are way more better movies than I thought. I thought it was going to be mainly, you know, in the bottom tiers, but I'm pleasantly surprised.
[37:41] So maybe the rumors were true, and maybe 2026 is the year for movies. Something I noticed after going through all these movies is how much of a balance there was between original content and existing IP, which, oh, it's just so refreshing to see you.
[37:55] I feel like after COVID, studios were just so scared to do anything original. It was just too much of a risk, so I think it's fantastic that they're starting to give these original ideas a chance, and I will show up to every single one of them.
[38:07] Let me know down below what movie you're the most excited for, and if there were any that I missed. And if you made it this far, please comment the word cinema. I know I use this word a lot, but I think it is the perfect word for this video.
[38:19] Please don't forget to like and subscribe, and I will see you in the next video. Bye.
