[00:00] Just before GTA 6 pre-orders kickoff,
[00:03] Rockstar Games has revealed the
[00:05] exclusive contents of the Ultimate
[00:07] Edition. Described as an exclusive
[00:09] collection of premium vehicles, weapons,
[00:12] apparel, and action, this GTA 6 special
[00:15] edition is not just a $100 splurge, but
[00:19] also our latest insight into how we'll
[00:21] interact with this massive criminal open
[00:24] world. Read closely and between the
[00:26] lines and you'll find dozens of gameplay
[00:28] details here revealing brand new
[00:29] activities like stolen goods fencing,
[00:32] fishing, and car restoration projects.
[00:34] And so we don't have to wait until the
[00:36] November 19th release date to start to
[00:38] understand exactly what we'll be up to
[00:40] on the streets of Vice City. Here are 22
[00:44] new GTA 6 gameplay details right now.
[00:48] Pit Young's illegal goods store is
[00:50] described as a gang compound, which
[00:52] sounds like an activity type. Rockstar
[00:55] explains that you'll raid the compound
[00:56] of one of Southside Vice City's loudest
[00:59] and most socially active gangs. And so
[01:01] it may be that gang compounds are
[01:03] somewhat akin to outposts or enemy
[01:05] strongholds in other openw world games.
[01:08] Hit young may be just one of many
[01:10] compounds. The description says you'll
[01:12] need to escape safely to score some
[01:14] special items and distinct contraband.
[01:17] While words like contraband are thrown
[01:19] around casually in GTA, it seems like
[01:21] buying and selling stolen goods will
[01:23] actually be an important activity. One
[01:26] of the Ultimate Edition exclusive cars
[01:28] is the 67 Vapid Dominator buggy, which
[01:31] is stored at the Paradise Garage in
[01:33] Watson Bay. Said garage features a
[01:36] secure place to deposit stolen goods to
[01:38] be fenced. It certainly looks like we'll
[01:41] be running some kind of stolen wares
[01:43] business. And how do you get those
[01:45] illegal goods? Very possibly by boosting
[01:48] gang compounds and heists, of course.
[01:51] There'll surely be heists. The Paradise
[01:53] Garage also features a weapon locker, a
[01:56] feature that will be familiar to GTA
[01:58] online players. Since landing in the
[02:00] hospital or being busted by the cops
[02:02] usually strips you of all of your
[02:04] weapons, this will be a way to ensure
[02:06] you have guns ready and waiting for you
[02:08] when you're released from custody.
[02:12] It seems like garages will not be the
[02:14] only place you can store weapons,
[02:16] though. The Ultimate Edition's Shih Tzu
[02:18] Squallow boat is equipped with an
[02:20] explosive laden weapons crate. This may
[02:22] simply be a box of bombs, or it could be
[02:24] a spot to hide whatever guns you want.
[02:26] And if a boat has weapons storage, then
[02:29] it's possible that car trunks can be
[02:31] filled with rifles, too. The pre-order
[02:33] bonus 55 vapid stainless sedan has a
[02:36] weapons locker, which perhaps functions
[02:38] similar to how you stored weapons on
[02:40] your horse in Red Dead Redemption 2. It
[02:42] seems like GTA 6 will not only be more
[02:44] ambitious in its realistic simulation of
[02:46] life, so functional car trunks don't
[02:48] feel out of the question.
[02:52] The GTA 6 website notes that the Shih
[02:54] Tzu Squallow is perfect for casting in
[02:56] Gambit Bay and reeling in catches of all
[02:58] sorts, suggesting fishing has finally
[03:01] come to GTA. And if you can catch fish,
[03:04] that would also point to some kind of
[03:06] new inventory system to keep them in, as
[03:08] well as potentially a cooking mechanic.
[03:10] Or you could just throw your catches
[03:12] back to the dolphins.
[03:15] We can see scuba diving equipment on the
[03:17] Shih Tzu Squallow. So, it seems like
[03:19] underwater activities are back. If you
[03:22] prefer things to stay on the water's
[03:23] surface, Jason has a Crest brand kayak
[03:26] at his safe house. He also has a Dinker
[03:28] Endora, an off-road tail bike. It looks
[03:31] like off-road races will certainly be a
[03:33] thing in GTA 6, as the aforementioned 67
[03:36] Vapid Dominator buggy offers impressive
[03:38] off-road handling for the backwoods of
[03:41] Mount Kalga and beyond. The same
[03:43] description makes mention of the mud
[03:45] club, and we saw that messy crew getting
[03:47] excited about trucks and beer in the
[03:49] first trailer. Could we perhaps join the
[03:50] Thrillbilly Mud Club to participate in
[03:52] their events?
[03:54] In other car rellated activities, The
[03:56] Ultimate Edition features a special
[03:58] commission that tasks you with tracking
[04:00] down a variety of abandoned classic cars
[04:03] and bringing them back to their former
[04:05] glory. This sounds like it could be
[04:06] GTA's answer to Fortza Horizon Barnfinds
[04:09] and could make for a cool campaign long
[04:11] side quest. While the classic car
[04:13] collection will be exclusive to the
[04:15] Ultimate Edition, it could well be that
[04:17] there are other special commission
[04:18] activities awaiting us in Leonida.
[04:23] Of course, we can't discuss cars in GTA
[04:25] without considering modifications. The
[04:28] new details confirm that mod shops are
[04:30] back and seemingly more extensive than
[04:32] ever. Customization now extends to car
[04:34] interiors, but it looks like many of the
[04:36] old classics will return, including
[04:39] wheels and paintwork. Off-road
[04:41] modifications will also be available,
[04:43] transforming cars into all-terrain
[04:45] vehicles. The Ultimate Edition also
[04:47] includes a mod kit for Jason's Vapid
[04:49] Gardo called the Retro Build. Perhaps
[04:51] we'll be able to purchase preassembled
[04:53] bundles of mods to create specific
[04:55] versions of cars rather than just making
[04:57] individual tweaks.
[05:00] Some cars don't need modifications,
[05:02] though. Not if they look like the 95
[05:04] Groty Cheetah. The Cheetah is, of
[05:07] course, one of those classic GTA cars,
[05:09] having been featured in almost every
[05:11] game since GTA 3. Interestingly, while
[05:14] GTA 5's Cheetah was inspired by the
[05:16] sleek Ferrari Enzo, GTA 6 brings back
[05:19] the old Testostera style design from the
[05:21] original Vice City. According to the GTA
[05:26] 6 website, the cheetah is available to
[05:28] punctuate later stage action, suggesting
[05:30] that Jason and Lucia only gain access to
[05:33] it in the story's second half. This may
[05:35] be the case for many of the Ultimate
[05:37] Edition bonuses, which Rockstar says are
[05:39] threaded across all aspects of Jason and
[05:42] Lucia's story, with new items uncovered
[05:44] behind each chapter. Rather than just
[05:46] being dumped on you in a neverending
[05:48] parade of pop-ups when you first boot up
[05:50] the game, these additions will be
[05:52] provided at specific milestones, perhaps
[05:54] with their own story beats. A very
[05:57] important thing noted through the
[05:58] Ultimate Editions offerings is that
[06:00] several stores are only open for
[06:02] business with the Ultimate Edition that
[06:04] includes two mod shops, Ride Out Customs
[06:07] and OneEyed Willies. It also includes a
[06:09] range of clothing stores, a salon, and a
[06:12] tattoo parlor. While their ranges will
[06:15] be exclusive to Ultimate Edition owners,
[06:17] what they sell does help paint a picture
[06:19] of the vast levels of customization
[06:21] available to all players. As you'd
[06:24] expect, we can choose how both Lucia and
[06:26] Jason style their hair. Jason can also
[06:29] opt to wear facial hair, while Lucia can
[06:31] have her nails painted. All these
[06:33] services are available from Sarah's
[06:34] unisex salon. And so it may be that
[06:37] gender specific salons exist across the
[06:39] city, providing more specific
[06:41] treatments. Perhaps we can customize
[06:43] Lucia's makeup, for instance. We can
[06:45] also see both characters wearing
[06:46] earrings and jewelry across the numerous
[06:48] new screenshots, suggesting that
[06:50] clothing and accessory choices drill
[06:52] down to the minutia.
[06:55] One of the Ultimate Edition exclusive
[06:57] stores is Electric Fang Tattoo, which
[07:00] will ink you with one of over 50 tattoos
[07:02] designed by real life Brooklynbased art
[07:05] collective fail. GTA has a long history
[07:07] of collaborating with real life artists.
[07:10] The most obvious one being radio
[07:11] stations stuffed with hit songs. But its
[07:14] TV shows have also featured real
[07:15] comedians. And so this tattoo parlor
[07:17] represents a widening of that blend of
[07:19] real people and imaginary worlds.
[07:24] Talking of TV, one of the Ultimate
[07:26] Editions bonuses is a collective of
[07:27] apparel inspired by Macka the Gator, a
[07:30] hit television show in Leonida. Both GTA
[07:33] 4 and 5 featured watchable TVs with full
[07:36] schedule of programming. So, it seems a
[07:38] safe bet that A, working TVs are back,
[07:41] and B, Macka the Gator and his colorful
[07:44] animal friends will be part of the
[07:46] broadcast.
[07:48] A TV will likely be found in your safe
[07:51] house. It may even be this one. Every
[07:54] GTA has had at least one place where you
[07:56] can kick back and relax, and GTA 6 will
[07:59] be no different. The website refers to
[08:01] the house we saw Jason living in at the
[08:03] start of the second trailer at his safe
[08:05] house. So, expect the usual save and
[08:07] sleep options here, plus potentially
[08:09] more mechanics like those
[08:10] affforementioned weapon lockers. When it
[08:12] comes to safe houses, perhaps the most
[08:14] memorable of them all is the Vetti
[08:16] estate, the massive mansion on the
[08:18] original Vice City Starfish Island.
[08:20] While GTA 6's version of Vice City is
[08:23] very different from its PS2 predecessor,
[08:25] we now have confirmation the mansion is
[08:27] back. Ultimate Edition owners have
[08:29] access to a pair of Hawk and Little
[08:31] Morgan revolvers which have been sourced
[08:34] from the Viceti estate. While that's not
[08:36] confirmation we'll physically go to the
[08:38] mansion to retrieve the guns ourselves.
[08:40] Nor is it confirmation Tommy Vet will be
[08:42] in the game, it does point to Rockstar
[08:45] weaving more continuity than ever before
[08:48] between its old PS2 games and its more
[08:50] recent output. Currently split into the
[08:52] 3D and HD universes. Have those
[08:55] timelines been recconed or stitched
[08:56] together in GTA 6? We know Phil Cassidy
[08:59] is back. We saw him on the TV in the
[09:01] second trailer. So, there's certainly
[09:03] more connections to the past going on.
[09:05] Each of the Viceti estate revolvers have
[09:08] been personalized with custom grips,
[09:10] engravings, and added extras. Jason's is
[09:13] a fixed with a massive high-powered
[09:15] scope replicating Vice City Story's
[09:17] equalizer revolver. Another Ultimate
[09:19] Edition bonus is a pair of similarly
[09:21] customized semi-automatic pistols for
[09:23] the duo. And so both sets point to an
[09:26] absurdly granular level of detail when
[09:28] it comes to weapon customization. This
[09:30] isn't just about functional mods like
[09:32] silences and scopes. It's about
[09:35] showcasing personality.
[09:37] The fact that both Jason and Lucia can
[09:39] have their own individually customized
[09:41] weapons suggests their loadouts are
[09:43] their own. And if one of my other
[09:45] theories proved true, that cars can be
[09:48] used as weapon storage, akin to RDR2's
[09:50] horses, that would likely mean our
[09:53] protagonists can only carry a couple of
[09:55] weapons at a time. Without the entire
[09:57] arsenal in a weapon wheel, they'll need
[09:59] a place to keep their extra firepower.
[10:01] And so this could lead to builds,
[10:03] choosing the right weapon loadouts for
[10:05] the job ahead of time. Perhaps you can
[10:06] kit Lucia out with shotguns and SMGs to
[10:09] have her storm the front lines, while
[10:11] Jason hangs back with a sniper rifle to
[10:13] provide overwatch. GTA V provided some
[10:16] opportunity for tactical choices via its
[10:18] three protagonists. But this kind of
[10:19] approach could raise GTA 6's firefights
[10:22] to a whole new level.
[10:25] That's a lot of speculation, though. So,
[10:27] let's get back to the facts.
[10:28] Pre-ordering GTA 6 nets you access to
[10:31] the vintage Vice City pack, which of
[10:34] course is full of plenty of callbacks to
[10:36] the neon soaked 1980s. The first of its
[10:39] bonuses is the 55 Vapid Steiner, the
[10:42] yellow and white sedan that was always
[10:44] parked outside of the Ocean View Hotel
[10:46] in GTA Vice City. The description notes
[10:48] that it has a secure place to deposit
[10:50] stolen goods to be fenced. Yet another
[10:53] insight into how the stolen goods system
[10:55] will work. The vintage Vice City pack
[10:57] features a weapon pattern which is
[10:59] presumably a skin to be applied as part
[11:01] of the weapon customization system. This
[11:04] particular pattern is special though as
[11:06] its bright blue palm tree look is taken
[11:08] from Tommy Veti's iconic Hawaiian shirt.
[11:11] The pre-order bonus costumes and
[11:13] hairstyles don't have direct links back
[11:15] to Vice City, but Jason's linen suit
[11:17] jacket with its rolled back cuffs
[11:19] certainly nods back to Tommy's light
[11:21] blue suare suit. While the pastel purple
[11:24] trousers are a similar shade to the
[11:26] two-piece worn by his lawyer, Ken
[11:28] Rosenberg. Finally, there's one detail
[11:30] that looks back even further than the
[11:32] 1980s. In this poleside image, we can
[11:35] see a set of folded dollar bills that
[11:37] feature an old man. His beard has a
[11:39] distinctive V cutout, and his hairline
[11:42] mirrors it. While the money clip covers
[11:43] his face, those other details make it
[11:45] clear this is President Harden, one of
[11:48] the former US presidents in Red Dead
[11:50] Redemption 2. This isn't the first time
[11:52] Harden has graced the $100 bill. A
[11:54] similar bank note could be spotted in
[11:56] GTA Online's the contract add-on. And
[11:59] those are the 22 details we spotted in
[12:02] the latest GTA 6 information drop. Have
[12:04] you been able to find any more cool
[12:06] gameplay features or Vice City callbacks
[12:08] in the Ultimate Edition and pre-order
[12:10] bonuses? Let us know your finds and your
[12:12] theories in the comments. And for
[12:14] everything GTA 6 and more, stick with
[12:18] IGN.
