The video explains that YouTube creators often quit at the wrong time because they focus on view counts rather than underlying growth signals. It presents three key metrics—average percentage viewed, audience watch behavior, and impressions—that indicate true channel growth even when views are low.
Creators leave YouTube when things are going well because they focus on views, which lag behind actual growth signals.
The percentage of the video watched is the strongest indicator of content quality. For short videos (2-3 min), aim for 60%+; for 5-10 min, 40%+; for 15-20 min, 30%+ is solid.
In YouTube Studio, check the Audience tab for New, Casual, and Regular viewers. Growth in casual and regular viewers indicates audience building, even if views stay flat.
Meaningful comments that show the viewer watched and understood the video are a strong signal of audience formation, even with low view counts.
Impressions show how often YouTube displays your video. Increasing impressions with flat views means the algorithm is testing your video; the issue is packaging (thumbnail/title), not content.
The first 3-6 months are tough; views and subscribers are low. Use these signals to gauge progress and keep improving, but don't give up.
To avoid quitting YouTube prematurely, track average percentage viewed, audience watch behavior, and impressions. These signals reveal true growth and guide improvements, ensuring you stay on the right path even when views are low.

05:59[00:02] But leaving YouTube is not the problem, the real problem is that they leave YouTube when everything is going in the right direction. And the only reason for this is that they focus on the wrong thing. He keeps counting the views after uploading every video.
[00:14] Today I got 50 views, yesterday I got 80. The day after tomorrow, you get 50 views and then you think nothing is happening. YouTube is not pushing my videos. But the growth of the channel is not visible from the views. Views come later.
[00:28] First some other signals come which tell whether your channel is going in the right direction or not. And if you understand these signals, you will never leave YouTube at the wrong time. So today I will show you three such signals which you
[00:41] show you three such signals which you channel is actually growing or not. Whether you get 100 views or 500 views. The first signal comes from the average percentage view. Simply put,
[00:54] how long people are watching your videos is the strongest signal whether your content is working or not. Whether your views are less or more. Now suppose you have a video and it gets 100 to 200 views.
[01:06] This may seem less to you but wait. Go to YouTube Studio, open Analytics inside the video and look at Average Percentage Views below. Suppose it is showing 55%. What does this mean? This means that out of 200 or 100 people,
[01:20] watched more than half of your video, then this signal went to YouTube that people are liking this video. The platform is being banned on YouTube. YouTube does that. Shows the video to more people. It's a chain but it
[01:35] starts with this percentage number. But one important thing is that this percentage length of your video also makes a huge difference. If your video is short, say 2 to 3 minutes, then this number should be 60% or above
[01:49] watch the entire video. If here also your score is 20%, 30%, 40% then there is a problem in the content and if your video is of 5 to 10 minutes then above 40% is considered good. And if the video is longer, like 15 minutes or 20 minutes, then 30%
[02:04] is also a solid number because if 30% of the people are watching a 20-minute video, then it means an average view of 6 minutes, which is quite good. So just look at the length of your video and judge accordingly. I want more percentage on short videos. It would be okay if it is a little less on long videos.
[02:16] So remember the first signal, not to look for views. You have to see the average percentage watching a significant portion of your video, your content is working. The algorithm is receiving a signal. Views will come later. But such videos will
[02:31] come. So if you are new to this channel then subscribe. I keep bringing such YouTube related videos every week. So subscribe and also press the bell notification so that you get the video updates first. Now comes our second single, Your Audience Watch
[02:45] Behavior. I mean, who are the people watching you ? Are they new? They come sometimes or they come every day. In YouTube Studio, under Analytics, you'll see Audience by Watch Behavior in the Audience tab. There are three categories here. The first
[02:58] category is New Viewers. These are the people who are watching your channel for the first time. second category is casual viewers. These are people who have appeared on your channel sometime in the last year. 5 months or less. Meaning, they come but not every day. He does
[03:12] category is regular viewers. These are your most loyal people. He watched your videos for six or more months in the last year. Meaning, these important thing, if your channel is new, three to four months old, then you will
[03:27] become regular one needs at least 6 months. One has to YouTube consider him a regular viewer. So if the percentage of regular is zero right now then do not panic. This is normal. Your real focus should be to convert from new to casual. To
[03:43] check whether they are getting converted or not. Let's say your analytics show that new viewers are up 93% this month. Casual viewers are 7% and regular viewers are 0%. Now next month if you see that new
[03:55] viewers have increased to 88%. Casual viewers increased by 11% and regular viewers increased by 1% or even slightly. Views are same but casuals increased from 7% to 11%. Meaning, people who used to go away after watching one video are now coming back again. Watching another video.
[04:09] They are remembering your channel. And if this percentage of regular and casual viewers is increasing a little every month then your audience is building. Even if the views are the same, the audience is growing. But if the casual is very low like 3 to 4% it is
[04:23] So this means people are coming once but then not coming back. Then you will have to think. Make playlists, make series. Give a link to another video at the end of one video , connect videos to each other so that people can watch one video from another.
[04:36] your comments. Look, there are two types of comments. comments which do not say anything meaningful. In most cases the person does not even watch the entire video. He just comments and leaves. But other comments are genuine
[04:48] comments that clearly show that the viewer watched the video, understood it, and found actual value in it. These comments are very special. And if your video has 100-200 views but 510 such comments are coming then your audience is being formed. This
[05:03] is also a signal. These numbers are small but real and a channel is built with a real audience. where you are right now in your YouTube journey. Comment below how many months you have been doing YouTube. 2 months, 6 months or 1 year or more, whatever it is, let's see who is
[05:18] in which face right now. Comment below. I will definitely check it. Now comes the third signal, Impressions, and this is the signal that screen. If it is in search , on the home page, or in suggested, then
[05:34] it is an impression. This means that YouTube showed your video to someone whether they clicked on it or not. If it is visible then it is an impression. Now suppose your video had 500 impressions in the first week. It became 800 in the second week. In the third week it
[05:46] increased further to 1500. Views have n't increased much, but impressions are increasing. What does it mean? YouTube is showing your video to more people. algorithm has decided that this video is worth testing. This should be presented to more people.
[05:59] Now if impressions are increasing but views are not increasing then it does not mean that the video is useless. This means that you will have to work on the thumbnail or title because YouTube is showing it but people are not clicking. So the
[06:12] problem is not in the content. The only problem is your packaging. Fix the thumbnail and title and the views will start coming. But if impressions aren't increasing, YouTube still needs more data. Post more videos. Get the SEO right
[06:24] and give the algorithms time. But don't take too much time. If you are new to this channel then subscribe to this channel now so that you keep getting such YouTube related videos on time. And also press the bell notification so that you get it first on time.
[06:37] Now, after knowing these three signals, many people will leave YouTube. Why? Because people do not have patience. To be honest, the first three to six months on YouTube are the Views don't come, subscribers don't increase. People think that no one in the world cares about
[06:50] My video doesn't make any difference. And at that time Leave YouTube aside. This is a waste of time. Let's try the other side one more time. consistent. Everything will be alright. I will tell you to look at the signals. If the average
[07:04] percentage views are good. If people are coming back. If your impressions are increasing, you are on the right track. Carry on. But don't give up even if the signals are not right. Then improve once. Make your own thumbnail better. Work on your titles.
[07:17] Fix the structure of the content. But don't give up. So now you understand these three signals but there is one more thing that there are some settings in your YouTube Studio which are set wrong by default and this is harming your channel which
[07:29] you do not fix these settings, then no matter how good the signals are, the growth of the channel will always be slow. Then click this video to see 15 YouTube settings you should fix right now. Click now because this setting
[07:43] because this setting [Music] is definitely set wrong on your channel also.
