Fake Speedpaint Analysis — Full Breakdown & Transcript

[00:01] video, featuring my two cats. We're going to delve into a story of an artist silliest speed paint that I've ever seen in my entire life. This is just a very humorous story of an artist that is possibly pretending to be something

[00:16] they're not. So, let's delve into this situation. And again, please don't send hate to any parties involved. So, everything kicks off with a user called Neko on Twitter, who writes a post, right, quote retweeting an artist that

[00:28] we'll see some of their other pieces, so don't worry. They write, "I'm almost completely sure this is AI assisted or traced, but the artist has no way of contact." They add, "Their line quality does not match the sketch quality at

[00:40] all. And they drew like this in the beginning of the month. I'm sorry, but I sketches every day now." So, for context, this is what they drew like in the beginning of the month. They drew this June 3rd, 2026. Here's the art

[00:53] piece. It's done in a very like sketchy style, etc. It looks like they can draw. Now, this is an art piece 2 weeks later. Kind of similar sketchy style, but the face style, the way it's drawn is now looking very different. Much more like

[01:06] Marvel Rivals style, I would say, in line with their art style. They do a lot probably why. It's done digitally now, with a lot of inking, a lot of crosshatching, a lot of hatching. In 2 weeks, to jump from this

[01:18] to this may be possible. And OP also adds, "I noticed that this earring isn't going inside the ear, but it's hovering over it." And I agree, right? It's an earring that looks like it's supposed to be a stud, but it's drawn as if it's a

[01:31] it's a hoop, kind of like sitting this way in your ear, the way a hoop earring attached to the ear, it wouldn't sit like that. It would sit like this if that was the case. Another commenter adds, "It could be they traced AI or a

[01:44] tracing error, as AI tends to render the ears in an LSD trip type of way." I looks like somebody copying somebody else's ear. So then, a little while later, OP adds, "I gave her a chance to come clean, and she deleted her account.

[01:58] These are the time lapses she sent from the same drawing she mysteriously lost So the artist had said it's nearly 3:00 a.m. for me so that I hope this will incorrectly but I'm far too tired to fix it. And Neko says that's not the same

[02:12] quality of your other drawings girl and also on this it's clear you're tracing. I'll post the proof. Your choice. And the artist says should be done in a few the speed paint and I'll show you the beginning of it in a little bit. But to

[02:25] me this is already looking super weird because watch them start putting the They start applying the color all on one layer. I will say this many many times. Every artist works differently. Some artists do work completely in one layer.

[02:39] you it works for you. A lot of artists who came from doing traditional work just because like they're used to doing everything in one layer from painting. To me looking at this it doesn't just make particularly that much sense

[02:54] because it looks like they're having a very difficult time rendering because everything is on one layer and on top of the fact that this is a traditional piece done traditionally. Like this is what's odd. Even the background is done

[03:07] They don't just open a layer beneath all of this and paint bucket fill this blue which to me is really odd. You could just open that layer beneath you know. Neko writes last thing I'm going to say about this. She blocked me and deleted

[03:21] the funny speed paints but I downloaded it anyways. Hannah Marie changed her previous at is tracing AI and lying. Here's a speed paint she just deleted. There's more proof on my profile. So let's take a look at the speed paint

[03:33] because this is absolutely funny. I'm just going to show you the speed paints the speed paint we can kind of tell. They start with a really really oblong really blob. It's a big blob which is fine. You know we all start somewhere.

[03:47] And I'm going to speed this time lapse up just because it's it's a bit long. face. They're doing a three-quarters profile. I love a good three-quarter profile. Where they follow absolutely nothing of the oblong blob they just

[04:00] the blob because you're not going to look at the blob. Again, find a job continue looking. They start drawing bangs in and they start writing on it on their speed paint. They write "N for strand" drawn arrow to the end of the

[04:15] artist has their own process. Some artists do write on their piece as know. I write the pen weight that I use sometimes because sometimes I forget, piece, I don't remember anymore. You'll just see. They draw the marking for

[04:29] then draw two arrows to point to that to I guess remind themselves that that is for the top of the head. Which again wouldn't be necessary if the base circle blocking done for the head was done properly instead of this oblong egg that

[04:42] because an artist doesn't use, by the don't work with that. Which is totally because they draw a useless circle in the back and then draw a line for where

[04:55] draw two arrows to point to it to remind them of the line. So, now they write "horn one" and point to an empty spot on the head. And they write "horn two" and point to another spot in the head. And they write the word "gap" in the dead

[05:09] space. Okay. They mark a line and they write "middle" and they point the arrow to the middle of the bangs. They start sketching. They draw the horn in they crosshatch it in and then they erase it. The reason why I think this is

[05:23] absolutely fake in terms of faking the speed paint is because at this point in minutes in of the sketch. This is the sketch, right? The start of the sketch. At this point you're 10 minutes in. I'm telling you, if at the 10-minute mark

[05:36] you forgot where both horns are supposed to go and this is the end of the bangs bangs, you forgot. Either you have really, really, really bad memory problems or you're not an artist and you're trying to convince other artists

[05:49] you're not an artist, you don't know how speed paint works. So, you're doing what like. Here they write, curve not straight. What's that supposed to mean? And then, hair and ear {question mark} and they point an arrow to more dead

[06:02] space. Also, by the way, the extra reason why this doesn't make any sense character. It's not like they're making up a brand new character. So, they're like noting character elements that they might want to draw in later for their

[06:16] character. This is a character that already exists that has like a full character design. So, you don't need to be making up where ears and horns go because it's already done for you. They draw in the eyebrow and then they draw

[06:28] in one part of the bang, like one chunk of the side bang, and they write lips with an arrow to dead space of where the lips should belong. Absolute buffoonery. they don't want to write a bunch of okay? Otherwise, they'll go become

[06:40] an author. They're an artist cuz they want to draw. If you think lips go here, They'll be like, bloop, oval. Okay, they're going to fill it in later. Or if like a little line where the lips are going to go. And they don't write lips

[06:54] know that's where the lips are going to go. They're going to go back in and fill the neck should go. They draw in half mark} and they they point to where the earring is going to be. And then they

[07:06] write too large. Dude, this reads of somebody trying to pretend that they're an artist. It's as if they're making a speed paint already knowing an audience that make any sense at all? It's like you're playing a video game, you know?

[07:19] yourself. But if you are streaming on Twitch, then you're going to narrate a watch you play the video game. It's like this, like you're doing this little people people might question if I'm legit or if I'm tracing, so I'm going to

[07:32] like convince them that this is my thought process when I'm drawing. They go and redo the earring a couple times. Now, we draw in the second horn and they it, they go and start rendering other stuff. Okay, so we're going to leave our

[07:45] two wide thing here. By the way, may I add that this entire time as they are drawing, nothing is blocked in? As in, they have no marking for where the eyes But they don't actually like draw a line for where the eyes are anything like

[08:00] that. And the moment they start drawing it in, it's perfect. The eyebrow curvature, automatically perfect. They don't have to reshape the eyebrows. They draw in the lash line and the eyelashes first, and it's already in the perfect

[08:13] they don't need to change it. Here, I guess on this other eye they drew in a shading before the rest of the face is drawn. We only have eyeballs. Now, I'm just saying there can be some people who do work piecemeal, as in they they draw

[08:27] one eyeball, then they go draw something else. It's very uncommon to see artists artists. You often will see this more with traditional people. They're working what it looks like, because as they're writing notes, they're writing notes

[08:42] they're drawing on. Because if we just then continue. If the words were on a separate layer, wouldn't you just toggle done. We have one layer, all our notes are on there. The base layer is where

[08:55] all our drawings are. So, that's weird. So anyways, they continue hatching with the mouth. And again, they know exactly where the mouth belongs. They're shading in the lips, no issues whatsoever. They don't have to resize,

[09:08] They didn't have to sketch anything in, it was already perfect. And now we start hair. And also, one other thing to note is this entire time they have a very like uncertain way they draw, very like feathery sketches alongside the hair,

[09:22] get mad, they're like, "Oh, well, I like to draw with feathery sketches, la da da da." It can be a design choice. It is something that is also very common with beginner artists or newer artists to digital specifically, who aren't as

[09:35] confident with their brush strokes, so they draw them very small and they're that a lot with this person's art piece where there's a lot of like feathery the hair, whatever. And feathery sketches are completely fine. But, like

[09:49] common, much more common with more beginner intermediate artists. And the reason why it's odd in the context of this art piece specifically is because the anatomy is so good in this piece. The facial anatomy, it's a 3/4 angle

[10:03] taken from much lower. So, we get kind of like a lower angle. Lower angles are draw sometimes, but they're drawing it really well. All their shading is put in the correct spot. So, you have like a high level of anatomy plus rendering

[10:15] juxtaposed with much more amateur-looking sketches around the hair really add up. And that is something that you will see with tracers because in elements where they're kind of like free-for-ing it themselves, it reveals a

[10:28] But then, in elements when they're tracing, there is a lot higher skill obviously they're tracing something. But again, they continue with drawing shading in for the hair, and they know exactly where everything goes. And

[10:41] again, there's so much dead space here, and you'll see they're going to go and fill in all of that dead space right here as if they know exactly where everything belongs. And there are some artists who can draw, you know, like

[10:54] very wing it straight out the gate and they don't need a sketch, they don't into inking and it looks good. It's not particularly common. Even professional again, you know, just to get something correct, to get something perfect, etc.

[11:08] But they continue with kind of leaving those to themselves, etc. and drawing over the piece with arrows that point to nothing that really makes sense. This ends up being the final product of the art piece. But, you know what's funny?

[11:20] Because that wasn't the first speed paint. Yeah, because for some reason this person. So, there was that funny speed paint, but before that, like you piece where they painted this? Well, they had sent this speedpaint over.

[11:35] Let's speed this one up. But, they start drawing the ear in and then they're just point out the ear anatomy is completely wrong, too. But, they start drawing those horns in and again, look, they don't have to correct any lines or

[11:47] on the first stroke. They start crosshatching it in and they're again. They know exactly where the eyebrow is even though there's no sketch that we can see. Then, they draw like half a nose and part of the eye. So, why

[12:00] speedpaint look different? And then, Naeko had asked for the full speedpaint of that drawing. So, then there's this speedpaint as well? Cuz this is again different. Where they draw in the bangs, the face, and then the side bang and the

[12:13] left ear, like to us the left ear, but the right ear, I guess. They draw in one eyebrow and then start drawing in the mouth. Then, they draw half the nose and again, like look at how they drew the

[12:25] are you outlining the eye and the outer ring of the iris? Maybe they're filling also weird because they clearly know how to use the paint bucket tool then. So, why didn't they fill in the background blue with the paint bucket fill tool? I

[12:39] color the background in, but that does not make sense to me. But, look at how they're rendering again. They know exactly where everything belongs. Also, their third time drawing this at this point. This is the third speedpaint

[12:51] we've seen in some regard, right? In some level of completion. How come differently? Like, one of them we started with the winking eye first and then we we went to this the open eye after we drew in both eyebrows. Now,

[13:04] this piece we drew in one eyebrow and the open eye, half the nose, and then the mouth. Whereas, previously, the mouth was drawn in last. Again, when rhyme, a reason, a methodology. Some

[13:16] know, the eyes first. Some artists, they want to frame the eyebrows first. For me, when I draw faces, I draw the mouth last and I like to draw a circle for the the nose in later. But, yeah, now we start rendering the face before the rest

[13:28] Whereas in the previous speed paint, we drew the horns in first and this side of the hair. Like, none of this makes sense. And honestly, I forgot about that talk about it because it was already like a month ago, whatever. Except the

[13:40] person's back and they're posting again and they're back on the same stuff. don't contact anybody, don't do that. Do not do that. I'll be very unhappy. I didn't change anything. So, this is a new art piece they posted of Emma Frost

[13:54] from Marvel Rivals. And then this is the speed paints. Dude, now they've done do lines and stuff like that for the nose, the eyes, whatever. All of a sudden in 3 weeks, they changed their art process. But, okay, we can all

[14:07] then continue to block the face in. Now we've blocked it in this far. And again, airy, feathery sketches to build up the piece. Again, that's fine. It's fine if look at the final product and be like, wait, what? After this being our sketch,

[14:22] Suddenly, the lines have a lot more confidence. They block everything in almost as if they know, again, where things belong, right? The jaw shape is changed. They draw this ear differently than they draw other ears though, which

[14:35] in for the rendering for the rest of the piece. And there's some other pieces like this one where we don't see the speed paint for it. And the line work on a piece like this, on the first glance, it might look similar to the speed paint

[14:48] we just saw. I don't think it's the same type of line work. And I am suspicious that this has more AI assistance than the previous pieces that we saw the line if you look at the lines here, they're done with roughly around the same

[15:01] they're a lot more scratchy. For a piece like this, I think this one, obviously traced. But then you see something like this, the lines are a lot cleaner and weight. We have very thin weights happening here. A lot of the darker ones

[15:14] crosshatching on the face, although there is a lighter pressure being used, I don't think they changed the like size of the pen from what you see here. in the pen size. I believe this one has more AI assistance used. So anyways, at

[15:28] thoughts on this situation? Do you think it's AI assisted? Do you think it's your thoughts. And again, don't bully, don't harass, do not go and contact this person. I just wanted to share this speed paint because it made me crack up
