AI Summary

This video outlines the most common mistakes made by gym beginners that can sabotage their progress, such as doing too much isolation work, training too hard too soon, neglecting proper technique, skipping warm-ups, lacking a structured plan, and lifting too heavy. The creator emphasizes a slow, structured, and sustainable approach to building a foundation for long-term muscle growth.

[00:01]
Mistakes Can Ruin Progress

There are many things that can go wrong in training; avoiding key mistakes ensures your effort isn't wasted.

[00:13]
Avoid Too Much Isolation Early

Beginners often add isolation exercises for every body part from day one, but this is pointless because they don't yet have the foundational strength or mind-muscle connection to isolate muscles effectively.

[00:50]
Focus on Foundational Exercises

Beginners should prioritize basic compound movements to build a foundation; there is zero point in isolation exercises when the foundation isn't there yet.

[01:32]
Don't Go Too Hard Too Soon

Overmotivation is a double-edged sword; blasting yourself from the start leads to extreme soreness, demotivation, and giving up. Start with a small number of exercises and sets, and gradually add more.

[03:31]
Master Proper Technique

Proper technique is essential for results and injury prevention. Beginners can't easily judge their own form, so filming sets and comparing to a proper technique reference is recommended.

[04:35]
Breathe Correctly

Random breathing loses all power and stability, ruining exercises. Pay attention to inhaling and exhaling at the right moments.

[04:48]
Always Warm Up

Not warming up is a crucial mistake. Get joints warm with simple movements like arm circles and bodyweight push-ups before training.

[05:15]
Have a Structured Plan

Going to the gym without a plan and randomly hopping between machines prevents progress tracking and learning. Follow a structured plan to improve every week.

[05:43]
Choose the Right Weight

Lifting too heavy is a common beginners' mistake. If you can't control the weight, you can't execute the exercise properly. Start with a weight that feels light and increase over time.

[06:35]
It's a Marathon, Not a Sprint

Speedrunning your fitness journey leads to derailment or injury. The slow, brick-by-brick approach is actually the fastest method because it's sustainable and builds a solid foundation.

[06:47]
Ignore Instagram Physiques

Instagram photos are 'lightning in a bottle' and not real 24/7; chasing unrealistic images makes you rush and fail. The slower approach guarantees long-term success.

The key to beginner gym success is to avoid these common mistakes by starting slow, focusing on compound foundations, learning proper technique, warming up, following a plan, using controllable weights, and adopting a patient, long-term mindset.

[00:01] lot of things that can go wrong. And if you want to get into the best shape of your life and not just waste time, you need to make sure that you are not doing these mistakes that just make all your effort go in vain. The first mistake we

[00:13] need to discuss is doing too much isolation way too early in your journey. I feel like almost every beginner is guilty of doing this, but almost no one is talking about this. Most beginners have this weird mindset of trying to

[00:25] optimize everything right from the get-go. Yeah, I wonder where they got that from, huh? So, what most folks do is that they put in an isolation exercise for every single body part right from the get-go. And I really mean

[00:37] every single body part. The amount of beginners that start doing forearm and app isolation exercises right from the day one is absolutely insane. But that beginner, you have basically no clue how

[00:50] main goal should be to focus on the basic exercises that will build your foundation. There is absolutely zero point in doing isolation exercises when foundational exercises yet. You know, as the name implies, isolation exercises

[01:06] part. But if you are a beginner, you muscle that you are trying to isolate is. So this whole shebang just makes no sense. I get that you are probably driven by FOMO, but you are really not

[01:19] missing out on anything by not isolating right away. In fact, it's a brilliant idea to start with basically no isolation exercises at all and just first. That will be so much more

[01:32] everything right from the first day. Which segways very nicely into the next mistake, and that is going way too hard right from the start. Most people when they finally decide to get into the gym are usually very motivated. I would even

[01:46] say that they are over motivated, which is a double-edged sword. And you got to Otherwise, you are going to end up out, the best thing that you can do is to take it slow. And I really mean that.

[02:00] literally guarantee your muscle building happens when you blast yourself right from the start? You get super sore, super demotivated, and you give up. And that's not like a maybe. I have seen

[02:13] this happen way too many times. People just crash and burn. So, what does starting slow really mean? It means that you start out with just a super small handful of exercises with a relatively small amount of sets. And as the weeks

[02:25] go on, you introduce more exercises and more sets that will make sure that you go, that you don't give up, and most importantly, you will basically guarantee your muscle building success. And that is the exact strategy that I

[02:38] released today. It's a whole beginner bundle that includes a training plan, a nutrition plan, and a cardio plan. The training plan gradually increases in guarantee that you don't get overwhelmed and that you will reach your goal. And

[02:52] the best thing about it is that I hand illustrated the proper form for every single exercise in the guide. So you will always know exactly what to do. And nutrition guide that will help you create your very first simplified meal

[03:05] plan even if you have absolutely zero knowledge in nutrition as it will teach sure that you don't get lost. And to complete the trifecta, there is also a cardio guide that will show you how to do cardio in a way that you can actually

[03:18] stick to. You can get the beginner bundle by clicking the first link below. anymore and you already got the basics in check, check out the new advanced bundle which allows for complete customization and also comes with a

[03:31] you from an out of shape chubby person into an absolute beast. You can also find that in the first link below. All right, now let's continue with one of beginner, and that is of course the proper technique. After all, that is why

[03:45] I spent the last 6 months hand illustrating the proper form for all the exercises in a beginner bundle. The proper technique is not only important for seeing the best results, but you also need to know it to prevent getting

[03:57] injured. So, you should really focus on learning the proper technique. Without that, you are not going anywhere, which most people understand. At least I hope so. But when you as a beginner lifter do an exercise, it is really difficult for

[04:09] you to judge from the firstp person view if you actually did it correctly or not. Yeah, mirrors do exist, but you can't really look into the mirror for every single exercise. And even then, that still might not paint the most accurate

[04:21] picture. That's why I highly recommend you start filming your sets and then comparing your recordings to some kind of proper technique reference like the That is the only way in which you can truly see if something is wrong or not.

[04:35] actually learning and improving your technique. What is also part of the proper technique is breathing correctly. Because when you just breathe randomly, you will lose all the power and all the stability which completely ruins any

[04:48] exercise. So try to pay attention to when you are inhaling and exhaling between a flawless technique and a complete mess. We definitely also have to talk about warming up because not doing so is a crucial mistake. Before

[05:01] you start doing any exercises, you just want to get your joints warm and you can achieve that by so many ways. Just think back to what you used to do in PE class. fancy. Arm circles, body weightight push-ups, or anything like that will be

[05:15] just want to feel like your joints are warm and not cold because cold things avoid the next mistake that we will go over right now. Otherwise, you won't be able to succeed in the future. As a beginner, you need to have your path

[05:30] laid out. You can't just do random things based on what you feel like that day. You need structure. Going to the gym just to randomly hop from machine to never get anywhere. Not only that, you will not learn anything by doing this,

[05:43] but you won't even be able to track your progress because you are just playing to go to the gym with a plan that you can follow, which will make sure that you are getting better every week. The next mistake that just completely ruins

[05:56] building muscle is when you are simply lifting too heavy. Lifting heavy obviously isn't a mistake. It becomes a mistake when that weight is so heavy for you that you are unable to control it, which is caused by one thing, and that

[06:09] is the fact that beginners simply don't know what weight they should start with. So, here you go. I'm going to tell you what weight you should start with right is way too heavy, you are unable to control it. And when you are not in

[06:22] control, you can't execute the exercise properly. So the weight you should use because then you are in the driver's seat. If the weight is too heavy, then you are just a passenger in a vehicle that is about to crash into a wall. So

[06:35] it's thousand times better to start off with weight that might seem way too light and increase that over time than to completely obliterate yourself right away. It really is cliche to say that it's a marathon and not a sprint, but it

[06:47] really is that way. The more you try to speedrun the whole process, the worse it's going to get. I understand that you get bombarded with images of perfect feel like that you have to catch up as fast as possible, but there is so many

[07:00] of all, nobody is walking around with an Instagram physique 24/7. The purpose of those photos is to basically catch a lightning in a bottle. So, what you are chasing might not even exist. And second of all, the slower approach I keep

[07:14] talking about is actually the fastest method that you can use. But how can a slow approach be the fastest? Well, you might try to speedrun your way through, along the way that will derail you sooner or later. And by derail, I mean

[07:28] because it's unsustainable, or you are going to hurt yourself. And even if you someone who used the slower approach. Because the speedrunning way of doing which everything is built on. So, you got yourself a roof, but you forgot to

[07:43] build the rest of the house. That's why the slower approach you build brick by brick will guarantee your success. You just need to realize it. And once you do, you will be able to easily overtake all the hot shots who look the exact

[07:55] same as when they started. I hope you found this video helpful. Don't forget first link below and start simplifying today. Thanks for watching and I will see you next time. Click here to watch another one.
