[00:01] The Chase Sapphire Preferred is finally getting a major update on June 15th, over everything you need to know about it. Now, to summarize this update, to the Sapphire Preferred is going to be very good and very positive. So, the $95

[00:15] getting some new 3x multipliers on gas, EV charging, and vacation homes. The $50 $100. And then there's some other good stuff as well. But, there are a couple one change that I think is a major negative. So, I was honestly pretty

[00:30] negative is that the ability to transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points at a is unfortunately getting devalued down to a lower four-to-three rate on the big deal considering that Hyatt's a super popular transfer partner within

[00:44] the Chase ecosystem that many people have liked having access to by just mention, Hyatt itself also just kind of went through its own devaluation recently with its new award chart. So, this is kind of like a double whammy.

[00:56] with this is that Chase did structure things so that if you're an existing you apply for this card prior to this update going live on June 15th, 2026, rate is not going to be effective for you until October 1st of 2026. So, I'm

[01:11] and all the other details of the new Chase Sapphire Preferred you need to links down below if you want to check out this card before all these changes video, I also want to go over my recommendations on how you might want to

[01:24] these changes. So, let's start things off here by first going over the new is that Chase didn't take away any existing multipliers on this card, but the Sapphire Preferred already had. So, like I said, the new multipliers are

[01:38] charging, as well as 3x points on vacation homes, which is going to work more. Then, just like before, you're still going to earn 5x points on all Chase Travel purchases, 2x points on all other travel booked outside of Chase, 3x

[01:51] points on dining worldwide, including takeout and eligible delivery services, 3x points on top streaming services, and 3x points for online groceries. There's multipliers on Lyft rides and Peloton equipment, that's nothing new here. So,

[02:03] spending multipliers that are going to be covered by the Sapphire Preferred, this. First, I want to say that I think having too many multipliers on a card confusion for the average person than Chase might realize. So, while I am

[02:17] gas and EV charging now earning 3x as well, which is something we've been waiting to see from Chase for a while, I do think that some beginners might get a of everything. Again, I'm talking about beginner and average level consumers

[02:29] here and not credit card optimizers like myself and many of you watching this of multipliers, but just something I wanted to mention here. And then the spending multipliers is that I am a bit disappointed that we did not see Chase

[02:42] turn the 3x for online grocery category into 3x for all groceries because that's when I heard the news about this update. I know there's sometimes ways to get limitation, but that doesn't work for everyone and every grocery store. And

[02:55] with a slightly higher annual fee if it meant that we got 3x for all grocery lose any multipliers and we actually gained a few good ones, so I can't overall, the new spending multipliers are definitely a win for this update.

[03:09] goes along with the multipliers and is honestly a super small negative in my bonus on the Sapphire Preferred is going to be discontinued. The reason I say was a benefit that was pretty easy to forget about, but also pretty easy to

[03:24] previously marketed on their website for this was that each account anniversary, you're going to earn bonus points equal to 10% of your total purchases made the give is that if you spend $25,000 on purchases, you'll get 2,500 bonus

[03:37] points, and 2,500 bonus points is equal to 10% of the $25,000 of spending it if you do some simple math and value those 2,500 points at 1 cent per point each, which is $25 of value, spending $25,000 just to get an extra 25 bucks is

[03:52] only an extra 0.1% return on spend. So, at the end of the day, that 10% move the needle that much for most people. But, this benefit is going to be discontinued immediately for anyone who applies for the Sapphire Preferred on or

[04:05] after June 15th, 2026. And for existing card members or card members who apply purchases made through October 1st of 2026 will continue to earn this 10% like I said earlier, that June 15th date is going to be very important to keep in

[04:20] card prior to that date, meaning June 14th, 2026 at the latest, then you're this anniversary bonus and the one-to-one high transfer rate, which But, before we get to that, there's also a few other surprisingly good updates

[04:33] Sapphire Preferred that actually can help to offset the annual fee of $95 is that, like I mentioned before, the $50 Chase Travel Hotel credit is now to have access to each account anniversary. Now, I love this change

[04:49] Preferred even more competitive with some other popular $95 credit cards out there that also have $100 hotel credits like the Citi Strata Premier and the Bilt Obsidian card specifically splits up that $100 Bilt Travel Hotel credit

[05:02] into 50 bucks for the first 6 months of the year and 50 bucks for the second 6 of those two $50 credits to be used on stays with a two-night minimum, this now Sapphire Preferred is going to have no two-night minimum, and you can just use

[05:16] obviously, you've always got to double-check the prices inside of Chase stay just to make sure that their prices are actually competitive with what you travel portal. But, in my experience, honestly, Chase's prices are typically

[05:29] pretty good, so this $100 credit should be something that's valued pretty close vary. So, that's great because now this hotel credit makes the $95 annual fee most people are going to have at least one hotel stay they've got to book per

[05:43] year. But, then on top of that, Chase also added even more value to the Sapphire Preferred with this update in the form of a $120 Global Entry TSA Sapphire Preferred card members are going to be able to receive one

[05:55] statement credit of up to $120 every 4 years as a reimbursement for the you charge that to your card. And normally, this is a benefit that's only cards. So, this is really great to see it here on this $95 card as well. Now,

[06:09] credit card game for a while, then you've probably got things like Global credits on one of those more premium travel cards already. But, because the considered sort of a gateway into the credit card game, I think having a

[06:22] credit for those expedited airport programs can make this card even more of early on in their credit card journey now. On top of that though, when it is always kind of been one of the best low annual fee credit cards on the

[06:34] protections it provides. And for a long time, those travel protections have included primary auto rental coverage, trip cancellation and interruption a few other things. But now, with this new update, Chase has also adding

[06:47] coverage, which is nice to see. And previously, that's something you actually needed to get the top-tier Chase Sapphire Reserve to have. Now, if current offers they're running, then

[06:59] you can check out. With that link for the Sapphire Preferred specifically this video on June 10th after this update was just announced, but any changes are actually going live on June 15th, just keep in mind that depending

[07:12] features and benefits that this card offers are going to look a bit different forget, it looks like Chase added one more limited-time credit as a part of And that is going to be a complimentary Apple TV subscription for 1 year. With

[07:25] that Apple TV subscription within your Chase account by December 31st of 2026 be another way to get some additional value on the CSP from June 15th onward, already uses Apple TV. Now, pretty much everything else about this credit card

[07:40] DoorDash benefits, there's the controversial points boost feature, points. And then there's some other stuff that I'll touch on with a full that I'll make very soon. But now, let's get into the biggest issue that myself

[07:53] with this update here, which is the changing rate for transferring points happening here is actually a broader shift in how certain Chase credit cards transfer to Hyatt moving forward, specifically with both of the lower

[08:06] cards that Chase offers, which are the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Chase Ink Business Preferred. As of June 15th, 2026, both of these cards are going to to Hyatt and none of their other transfer partners. So, those two cards

[08:19] are going to start transferring to Hyatt at a four to three rate instead of a one is that 1,000 Ultimate Rewards points transferred from your Sapphire Preferred or Ink Business Preferred over to World of Hyatt are only going to become 750

[08:32] Hyatt points. Or as a real world example, if you transferred 34,000 Chase get you just enough Hyatt points to book a one-night hotel stay that costs 25,000 going to be an issue for anyone who relied on having access to the World of

[08:46] in the Chase ecosystem with either one of those two $95 credit cards. And even Freedom Unlimited and the Freedom Flex and then trying to combine those points all of those combined points that you're basically pulling under the Sapphire

[08:59] by this new four to three Hyatt transfer are going to come into play because there's actually going to be two going to get you access to one to one Hyatt transfers, but only one of those

[09:12] other is going to be a workaround for a very limited time that you have to act fast for. So, the first more permanent workaround is to have either the Chase Reserve for business in your credit card setup because those two cards are still

[09:25] Hyatt transfer rate. So, they are not affected by this devaluation. For most is going to be the card to consider. But of course, there's also a whole bunch of credits on that card that you've got to analyze to see if the much higher 795

[09:38] annual fee is going to be worth it. If the credits do happen to offset the 795 work just a little bit to sort of make those credits worth it, then you'll be transfers at a much more appealing one-to-one rate in addition to all the

[09:51] Reserve like airport lounge access. Now, the reason all this is probably World of Hyatt points are probably then give their card members access to. And because of how popular it's become

[10:03] to transfer from Chase to Hyatt using the Sapphire Preferred, this was likely fee on this credit card at that $95 making one-to-one Hyatt transfers exclusive to the Sapphire Reserve on the

[10:15] makes sense when you think about it. And that's because it sort of acts like eventually move up the ladder to their more premium credit card over the long frustrating to a lot of current and potential Sapphire Preferred card

[10:28] for its ability to transfer to Hyatt. But the second workaround here to keep months is to be an existing Sapphire Preferred card member. Or like I've said card prior to June 15th when these updates go live. Again, I'm uploading

[10:43] this video on June 10th, so you have between now and June 14th at the latest Sapphire Preferred card member. And that's because Chase is saying that anyone who applied for this card prior to June 15th, 2026 will have this new

[10:55] four-to-three Hyatt transfer ratio become effective on October 1st, 2026. June 15th will have this new Hyatt transfer ratio become effective to plan your credit card strategy around all these changes with the information

[11:09] recommendations that basically come down to three options. With option one, if you don't already have either of the two personal Chase Sapphire cards and it to commit to the Sapphire Preferred so quickly before June 15th, but you still

[11:22] then personally I'd actually recommend checking out the Chase Sapphire Reserve card because right now they're running a last call for a limited time 150,000 can get that after spending $6,000 in the first 3 months from account opening.

[11:36] or you're watching this video much further in the future when that higher then I'd say that for option two, if you know for sure that all you want to do to Hyatt, and you don't have the Sapphire Preferred yet, then I would

[11:49] link down below because it might make sense to try and beat that June 15th deadline. So, that way you get that October 1st extension of the one-to-one you don't want the Sapphire Reserve right now, and you don't really care too

[12:01] plenty of other really great transfer partners on the Sapphire Preferred that just wait until June 15th or later to see this new updated version of the Hyatt transfer thing aside, the math for the new Chase Sapphire Preferred

[12:15] did before with these new updated benefits and the updated spending guys think about this update. Is the Sapphire Preferred a better credit card now, or did Chase just do something that's kind of unforgivable by changing

[12:28] to Hyatt? And again, if you want to check out the Sapphire Reserve and the can learn more about that with the link down below, or just by clicking on this video over here on the screen next. But, as always, thanks so much for watching,

[12:40] as always, thanks so much for watching, and I'll see you in the next one.
