[00:00] Having nearly injured myself running to
[00:02] the computer for what I thought was GTA
[00:04] 6 trailer 3, I'm now compelled to take a
[00:06] magnifying glass of conjecture to all
[00:10] the intricate details of Rockstar's
[00:12] newly revealed cover art ahead of
[00:13] pre-orders opening on the 25th of June.
[00:16] And I know it seems absurd. You might
[00:18] accuse us of trying to spin content out
[00:20] of bugger all. and you'd be right, but
[00:22] there are some genuinely compelling
[00:24] little details in this artwork and the
[00:26] manner in which it was revealed that are
[00:28] worth looking into.
[00:31] Just like the cover art for almost every
[00:33] Grand Theft Auto since GTA 3, the upper
[00:36] left panel of GTA 6's cover art features
[00:39] a helicopter. This time it's a Sea
[00:41] Sparrow, the amphibious helicopter that
[00:44] first appeared in the original Vice City
[00:46] and now frequents the skies of GTA
[00:49] Online. This particular model is
[00:51] equipped with a mounted minigun bolted
[00:53] onto the cockpit steps. It would usually
[00:55] be an odd thing for a utility helicopter
[00:57] to come armed with high RPM military
[00:59] hardware as standard. So, it may well be
[01:01] that you can modify choppers with
[01:03] aftermarket add-ons just like you can in
[01:06] GTA Online. This throwback to Vice City,
[01:09] along with the general color scheme of
[01:11] GTA 6's marketing and the reveal video's
[01:14] bespoke synthwave soundtrack, which
[01:16] appears to be an original piece
[01:18] commissioned by Rockstar, is making a
[01:21] real statement about GTA 6's links to
[01:24] the series past. We know the game has a
[01:26] contemporary setting and goes out of its
[01:28] way to parody the world of social media,
[01:31] but there are undeniable nods to the
[01:33] 1980s setting of 2002's Vice City, which
[01:37] I think is actually closer to the 1980s
[01:40] than we are to it. Oh my god. This seeks
[01:43] to reassure us that GTA 6 does not
[01:45] reject its past, but but revels in it,
[01:48] despite all the fears that a decade of
[01:50] uh staffing changes and the world
[01:52] seemingly slipping beyond parody may
[01:55] have made this Grand Theft Auto a little
[01:56] too different from its predecessors.
[02:01] In panel two, we have our protagonists,
[02:03] Jason Dval and Lucia Caminos. As stated
[02:06] on the Rockstar website, Jason grew up
[02:08] around grifters and crooks. After a
[02:10] stint in the army trying to shake off
[02:12] his troubled teens, he found himself in
[02:14] the Keys doing what he knows best,
[02:16] working for local drug runners. His
[02:18] girlfriend and apparent partner in
[02:20] crime, if the trailers are anything to
[02:21] go by, is Lucia. Uh the Rockstar website
[02:24] explains that fighting for her family
[02:26] landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary.
[02:28] Lucia's learned her lesson. Only smart
[02:31] moves from here. Uh, she can be seen in
[02:33] this panel holding a pistol
[02:35] shortbarreled, vaguely similar to the
[02:37] SNS pistol M2, which doesn't necessarily
[02:40] seem like a smart move, but if Grand
[02:42] Theft Auto has taught us anything over
[02:44] the years, it's that true entrepreneurs
[02:46] don't practice responsible gun
[02:48] ownership.
[02:51] In panel three, this daredevil is
[02:54] pulling a wheelie on a vibrant sports
[02:56] motorcycle. Uh, the bike itself appears
[02:58] to be a Prawn Seep Alvino V1. I don't
[03:01] know if I'm saying that right. a new
[03:02] model for GTA 6 that we first saw in a
[03:05] screenshot of Jason released in May
[03:07] 2025. But where Jason's ride was green,
[03:11] this guy's mounted on a mechanical
[03:13] stallion painted in synth waveesque
[03:15] shades of pink and purple. There's that
[03:17] theme again. The bike is also adorned
[03:19] with logos, the sort of livery that
[03:21] makes you wonder what level of forts
[03:23] arrivaling customization will be
[03:25] available at the local Vice City custom
[03:27] shop. This bike also sits in the same
[03:29] panel that featured a motorbike on Vice
[03:31] City's cover, which back in 2002 was a
[03:34] big deal since it was the first GTA, the
[03:37] first 3D GTA to feature motorcycles. And
[03:40] motorcycles being something you ride.
[03:42] Perhaps this is a nod to the fact that
[03:43] this is the first GTA to feature
[03:45] protagonists that ride each other. No.
[03:49] Driving alongside the bike, lights
[03:51] flashing, and sirens, no doubt
[03:53] shrieking, is a vapid police cruiser.
[03:56] Yeah, it's really vapid. loves
[03:57] Cassabian. This interceptor vehicle is
[04:00] one of the most common law enforcement
[04:01] cars on the streets of GTA 5's Los
[04:04] Santos. It's had a slight facelift since
[04:06] we last saw it, but it's the same Bobby
[04:08] Mobile you love to hate. Bobby Bobby
[04:11] Mobile. Bobby Bobby Mobile.
[04:15] In panel 4, there's a character that we
[04:17] don't think we've seen before.
[04:18] Replicating the original Vice City
[04:20] cover, we have a mystery woman in a
[04:22] bikini enjoying a drink. Like the blonde
[04:24] woman seen on the cover of GTA 5, she
[04:27] may not actually play a part in the
[04:29] story. Who knows? We'll have to wait to
[04:30] find out if she's a vital part of Jason
[04:33] Lucia's social circle. What we can
[04:35] deduce, though, is that she's a fan of
[04:37] the Leonida version of the Miami
[04:39] Dolphins NFL team, the Vice City
[04:41] Manatees, as the turquoise color of the
[04:43] jersey she's wearing is a very similar
[04:46] shade to its real life counterpart. Just
[04:48] to be clear, I don't know anything about
[04:50] NFL. The only thing I know the Miami
[04:52] Dolphins from is Ace Venture, a pet
[04:55] detective. And the less said about that
[04:57] film, the better. She's also sporting a
[04:59] tattoo on her side that reads Vice Baby,
[05:02] suggesting that she was born and raised
[05:04] in the area, also suggesting she's got a
[05:05] terrible taste in rappers. She also
[05:07] sports a 305 tattoo on her wrist, which
[05:10] is the real world area code for Miami.
[05:12] The chain around her neck says,
[05:14] >> "Welcome to how to pronounce."
[05:16] >> Let's say it all together.
[05:19] The chain around our neck says cmpre,
[05:21] which is Spanish for always. This
[05:24] probably doesn't tell us anything except
[05:25] that this person likes to adorn herself
[05:27] with the Latino equivalent of live,
[05:29] laugh, love, but we're committed to
[05:31] giving you the facts. So, elsewhere in
[05:34] the panel, we can see she's been sipping
[05:36] on what looks like a parody of the hard
[05:38] seltza drink, White Claw. We can't see
[05:40] the full name of it, but the word Thaw
[05:42] is prominent. It remains to be seen if
[05:44] this new fictional beverage is as body
[05:46] as Sprunk.
[05:48] sprunk. Behind her is the atal bar and
[05:51] grill, an establishment we've not seen
[05:52] before in any trailers, or the original
[05:54] GTA V city. It may be nothing, just a
[05:57] low-key riff on Miami's many beachfront
[05:59] tiki bars. Or this could be a prominent
[06:02] location in the game. Places like this
[06:04] are peppered throughout the series as
[06:06] quest giving locations. This place
[06:08] doesn't have the cozy Italian charm of
[06:09] Marco's beastro, but you're probably a
[06:11] lot less likely to get car bombed there,
[06:13] cuz people don't usually park right on
[06:15] the beach.
[06:20] On panel five, there exists something we
[06:22] didn't ever expect to see adorn the
[06:24] cover of a Grand Theft Auto game. An
[06:27] alligator complete with a giant toothy
[06:29] mob that you'd swear was smiling at the
[06:31] audience if it weren't for the simple
[06:32] biological fact that no alligators
[06:35] cannot smile and do not even understand
[06:37] the concept of smiling. This chomping
[06:40] reptile is of course given pride of
[06:43] place on the cover to represent the
[06:44] grass rivers area of GTA 6's gargantuan
[06:48] new map. But we know their native
[06:50] wetlands are likely not the only place
[06:52] we'll encounter alligators. All the way
[06:54] back in trailer 1, we got a glimpse of
[06:56] CCTV style footage showing such a
[06:58] reptile getting ejected from a
[07:00] convenience store in one of the games
[07:02] many slice of life parodies of Realworld
[07:05] Florida. Does this suggest we'll be
[07:07] hunting gators as a side activity in the
[07:10] new game? Perhaps removing them from
[07:11] places they shouldn't be. Maybe we'll
[07:13] get one as a pet. That's a reach, but so
[07:16] was female protagonist about 10 years
[07:18] ago. So, who knows?
[07:24] Over on panel six is Booby Ike, a m
[07:30] a music producer and owner of the Jack
[07:32] of Hearts Strip Club featured in the
[07:34] trailers. Rockstar's website says that
[07:36] Booby is all smiles.
[07:39] Booby is all smiles until it's time to
[07:41] talk business. I think it's fair to say
[07:43] we'll be working both with and against
[07:45] him over the course of GTA 6's story. He
[07:48] just gives off that sort of rockstar
[07:50] protagonist who will definitely betray
[07:52] you sort of vibe. Either way, I can't
[07:54] take anyone seriously with a name you
[07:56] can write backwards on a calculator to
[07:58] amuse your mates who are also 12.
[08:04] Over on panel seven, we have the
[08:06] requisite obscenely expensive motor. The
[08:09] bottom left panel is reserved for a
[08:10] glorious bright yellow supercar with
[08:13] scissor doors. This is almost certainly
[08:14] a brand new model from Pagasi, the GT
[08:17] Universe's high-end Italian automotive
[08:19] company. We've actually seen this car
[08:21] before in a vibrant lime green prowling
[08:23] the streets of Vice City in both the
[08:25] first and second GTA 6 trailers. Very
[08:28] likely inspired by the Lamborghini
[08:30] Aventador. This Pagasi is likely the in
[08:33] universe successor to the Infernace,
[08:35] which was based on the Aventador's own
[08:37] predecessor, the Merchilago. It's also
[08:39] another nod back to the original Vice
[08:41] City cover art, which featured a yellow
[08:42] Infernace, which was that game's version
[08:44] of the classic 1980s Lamborghini
[08:47] Countach.
[08:52] Over on panel eight, we've got Raul
[08:53] Batista, the final character with the
[08:55] honor of gracing the cover, a seasoned
[08:58] bank robber, always on the hunt for
[09:00] talent, ready to take the risks that
[09:01] bring the biggest rewards, as described
[09:03] on the Rockstar website. He's holding a
[09:06] Duke assault rifle. Interestingly, this
[09:08] is a weapons manufacturer from the Red
[09:10] Dead Redemption universe, giving a rare
[09:12] hint that Rockstar's two big franchises
[09:15] might share a consistent reality. Other
[09:18] Duke guns can be clocked in previous
[09:20] trailers. He's standing in front of the
[09:22] Sinfronta National Bank. A pretty
[09:25] unsuttle, you might say, floodlit hint
[09:27] that at some point in GTA 6's story,
[09:30] we'll be robbing the place, as is
[09:32] tradition. Incidentally, Sinfronta in
[09:34] Spanish translates as without borders,
[09:37] which we can speculate is Rockstar
[09:39] rather suggesting that if you aren't
[09:41] excited for more single player heist
[09:43] missions, then you should probably see a
[09:45] doctor. We can speculate that though it
[09:48] doesn't stop it being some bollocks have
[09:49] just made up.
[09:54] Over on panel 9 in yet another nostalgic
[09:56] nod back to the original Vice City
[09:58] cover. We have a top-own view of a boat
[10:00] cruising through the Miamiike waters.
[10:02] Here we see a group of people riding in
[10:04] a Clarion speedboat, the same brand of
[10:06] water vehicle that can be seen zooming
[10:08] past the cargo ship in the first trailer
[10:11] for GTA 6. Above them flies a flamingo,
[10:14] suggesting that they're sailing near
[10:15] Leonid's equivalent of the Everglades,
[10:17] the grass rivers, as this is typically
[10:19] where the wading birds are to be found,
[10:22] eating shrimp while standing on one leg.
[10:25] Cuz that's that's their thing. They
[10:27] stand on one leg and they eat shrimp.
[10:30] That's their big USP. Listen, flamingos
[10:33] are sh flamingos are stupid, right? The
[10:36] Cardiff seagull can steal an entire
[10:38] baby, but nobody singles that out for
[10:40] praise. Look, if you enjoyed all that,
[10:42] check out my playlist on IGN. It's
[10:45] called the Trinker Perspective, where
[10:46] they keep letting me make stuff like
[10:48] this. By all means, let us know below if
[10:50] you've missed something. Keep it IGN.
[10:52] And remember, above all, remain calm.
