GENMUI vs GENTAN! | Genya Ships Tier List! | Demon Slayer Ships

[00:02] Well, you guys are once again going to either love me or hate me for this one.

[00:23] channel into another video. Today we are continuing my ships tier list series and today we are going with the most voted character for my recent poll and that is Genya. Every time I think about Genya, I think I like him a little bit more. I

[00:36] feel like when I first started thinking about like where characters fell on my list of favorites, Genya was always kind of like outside the top 10. Now he might be like sixth at this point. I would have to really sit down and think

[00:52] character, the more I care about their ships. So I might have a lot of opinions But before we do, don't forget to like thoughts. And right now I'm trying to get you all to follow me on Instagram.

[01:06] Instagram is really fun because I post a lot of stuff on there that I don't post >> [music] >> like Instagram stories and photos, that sort of thing. And I'm setting myself a really difficult goal of hitting 30k by

[01:33] The reason I'm a little bit scared about Genya ships is there are a few that are very heavily talked about on the internet and I do think my opinions on those ships might be not that popular. I don't know, but we'll find out. And I

[01:48] would also just like to remind everyone before I get started, this is not a list that I made. I did add a few to this list because I felt that there were a few that I've definitely heard about and have some opinions on that I added, but

[02:01] other than that this is literally just a all Demon Slayer characters list. I just focus in on [music] the Genya ships. And we, as always, have our tier list at S, we, as always, have our tier list at S, A, B, C, and [music] ew. And we are

[02:16] starting with Genya and Kanao. Now, I know I've talked about this ship in my know I've talked about this ship in my Kanao list. I do really like this one. it is pretty cute. I think that it's kind of one of those situations where

[02:30] you have kind of the big scary dog, you know, like scary dog privileges. It's so definitely a cinnamon roll on the inside, and he kind of turns into a cinnamon roll after Swordsmith Village when Tanjiro's kind of like, "Hey, I

[02:42] know this isn't really you." But, you know, like he's very I don't know how to explain it. Kanao is obviously very quiet. In fact, for part on her own yet, so I understand the dynamic. I think it's cute, but it's not

[02:57] dynamic. I think it's cute, but it's not like my absolute favorite. Mostly because she's involved with my absolute favorite ship of [music] the entire series, which of course is Tanjiro and Kanao. And

[03:10] >> that one is just like such a strong ship that I do have a slightly harder time. ship in a little while, but we're going to put this one in A because I don't really have anything against it. They're around the same age. They have similar

[03:27] like color schemes, which is cute. I can see why people ship it, and I know a lot of people do [music] ship it. It's just not as high on my list as some of the others. Genya and Aizetsu. I know why

[03:40] Genya like fought one-on-one [music] in the Swordsmith Village the most. I would put that in ew because the clones are kind of weird because it's like

[03:52] Hantengu is hundreds of years old and [music] was like an old man I think when he got turned. So like when you're thinking about Hantengu like that's an adult adult adult. And then like his clones

[04:04] just get actively younger and then so Hakuten is when I start getting a little kid? Like what is happening?" >> [laughter] >> Um but Aizetsu, like the four normal clones I would definitely say are very

[04:16] adult-like. This is the reason why [music] it's going in ew. It just feels a little bit icky. I don't know why this is a ship, this next one, Genya and Kaigaku. I'm trying to think of all the times Kaigaku is in the story. If

[04:29] there's anything that leads people to have any reason to ship them other than it being a total crack ship. I have to put this one in ew anyway because Kaigaku, I'm pretty sure is like 19 or 20 and I'm just getting into that realm

[04:43] of like this makes me uncomfortable. And then obviously we have this one which is of our ews out of the way. They were all back to back. >> Thank goodness. Because yeah, those three give me the

[04:57] Because yeah, those three give me the um so Genya and Zenitsu. I don't really like this one. I I feel like they're opposites in the way that they would clash. I feel like Zenitsu would just make Genya mad. Like he would, in my

[05:11] opinion, bring out the worst in Genya. The opposite of what Tanjiro does where Tanjiro brings out the best. That's not a jab at Zenitsu's character. That's a jab at Zenitsu's character. That's just in the real world I feel like if

[05:24] with their personalities being somewhat are very over the top because they are anime characters. But I feel like just this like clashes and they would like Zenitsu would get more anxious all the

[05:39] time and Genya would get more angry all the time. So I don't really love this one. I I I'm going to have to put it in C because I feel like no matter what way Because there's also not really anything in the story that leads me to believe

[05:56] >> I mean, they interact a little bit. The problem with Genya, and I've said this before, I'll say it again, Genya is one of the few characters who dies in the of the few characters who dies in the story while still young. So, I just

[06:10] automatically have a harder time shipping him with a lot of characters because he doesn't make it and he was still young when he died. So, it's like, okay, there was really no opportunity. He was just a kid who was very

[06:23] traumatized and fighting in a war that he shouldn't have been fighting in. So, romance is the last thing on his mind. So, I want to say that disclaimer now. I beginning. In case it's your first time watching one of these videos, I've done

[06:39] quite a few of these where I have mentioned that. So, for those of you who have been watching this entire series, you'll be like, we know, Hannah. But, people watching it. So, I feel like I have to say that. That's just like a

[06:51] personal thing is I tend to have a hard time with those characters. And that was a good disclaimer to put before this next one, which is Muichiro and Genya. So, this is the one that I feel like I maybe have the most hot take on. I

[07:04] remember when I found out this was a ship, it was because I made like one of those shorts that I make where I say like, going until I get a ship I like better than or something like that. And I like didn't stop at Muichiro and

[07:19] Genya. And all of the comments were like, oh my god, that's a real ship. It's GenMui. Everyone loves GenMui. And I was like, oh, >> [laughter] >> So, I feel like I have to specify that

[07:32] that rule of mine where it's like, young kid dies during the story, never grows up, applies to both characters in this ship. Which some people might say, all can ship them because they died literally in the same chapter. Um

[07:47] literally in the same chapter. Um >> [laughter] >> Yeah, I just I think there there's definitely more there than Genya and Zenitsu. I do think their personalities would match quite a lot better. You

[08:00] know, Muichiro and Kanao, I do feel like have similar personalities throughout the story where they're very quiet. Both of them kind of find their voice once they meet Tanjiro, just like how Genya's changes from like trying to be like his

[08:14] cinnamon roll that he is once he meets Tanjiro, cuz that's like a common theme is everyone becomes what they truly are around Tanjiro. But, it's not my jam. I know. I definitely like it better than Genya and Zenitsu, but I don't know if I

[08:31] like it as much as Genya and Kanao. There's something about that one that feels a little bit more right to me, and I don't know what it is. Genya and Muichiro, they they're both like they both get their development in the same

[08:44] arc, and then they fight the same Upper Moon in the final battle for them. So, I bit of back-and-forth here and there, although they barely crossed paths since Swordsmith Village. It was like, you know, Swordsmith Village was built up in

[08:58] a very interesting way where it was like we had Upper Four and Upper Five, and Muichiro was kind of siloed to Upper Five the entire time while everyone else And there was a little bit of interaction between the two of them

[09:13] against Kokushibo, there's a little bit of interaction. You know why? Like, I understand why people ship this. It's just not really something that I feel extremely passionate about, but I think I'm going to put it in A.

[09:28] Because now that I'm like talking it out in my head, I do feel like I understand why people ship it maybe a little bit more than I used to. It's just more of a They're two kids that don't grow up. The ships that I like that involve two kids

[09:42] do grow up, at least until 25, give or take. don't know if I have anything else to say. It just felt very random to me when I found out about it, and it still is a little bit random to me. I feel like

[09:57] Genya has better relationships with other characters in the story, although there's really only one other character his age that I feel like he has a better relationship with, which we will talk about in a moment. So, I guess Genya

[10:10] ships are just a little bit overall tough for me. So, Genya and Inosuke, feel like they would more likely bring out the worst in each other in a They have a lot of similarities with like

[10:25] have a lot of similarities with like wanting to be kind of the strongest and >> [laughter] >> I mean, we see them just like going at each other. So, much that Tanjiro has to sit on

[10:38] thing you have to do as their best friend is just sit on one of them. Again, I think Inosuke would bring out like the worst in Genya, just like Inosuke is Inosuke. I'm going to put this one in B because I I do think I

[10:53] like it better than Genya and Zenitsu, but I I feel like I have more issue with it than I have with Genya and Kanao and Genya and Muichiro. So, B just kind of because it just it's not really for me. I

[11:09] understand why people ship it, but I don't think that I can see them in a romantic light at all. So, in case you can't tell what this one is, I had a very hard time finding a picture for this, but I definitely know this ship

[11:22] exists and has fan fiction, and people have talked about it in my comments or on Twitter. Like, I've definitely seen this ship, so I was surprised it wasn't on here, And it is Genya and one of the Ubuyashiki kids, Kanata. It's the one he

[11:36] >> So, I don't really love this one. I also feel like the Ubuyashiki kids are like 11 and he's 16. So, maybe that goes in ew. Actually,

[11:52] yeah, I think that goes in ew because that he's 16, she's eight. Now I feel weird for putting that in. I knew that they were eight, too. I As soon as I saw that, I was like, oh yeah, of course. Yeah, that's ew. 16 and eight, bro.

[12:05] That kind of age gap only works when you're both like late 20s or older. And I mean like the youngest is 28 and the oldest is 36. Like that, okay, the oldest is 36. Like that, okay, whatever. Like you're both fully adults

[12:18] who have a lot of life experience, but yeah, no thank you. I'm not shipping any eight-year-old with anyone. They are way too young. They are way too young. Please don't ship that. That's one of the weirdest ones, I think. Okay.

[12:31] one of the weirdest ones, I think. Okay. So, here is my spoiler alert favorite Genya ship. So, like I said, I feel like a lot of these pairings, not a lot of them, but specifically Inosuke and Tanjiro, they bring out the worst in

[12:44] Genya. Well, we know that Tanjiro brings out the best in him. And obviously, there's another side to it, you know, where we're looking at this from a perspective of a relationship, so it should go both ways. Genya should bring

[12:58] out the best in Tanjiro and he does. It's just not like a like Tanjiro changed Genya. Genya doesn't need to change Tanjiro, but he still brings out like kind of the silly side of Tanjiro, the one that relaxes and is a lot more

[13:15] just like a kid like he's supposed to be. And I do like that about them. I think they have a lot of chemistry. I think they are really adorable. You know, one of my favorite moments in Swordsmith Village is when

[13:30] Swordsmith Village is when Genya like is strangling Tanjiro Hashira because you didn't take down upper six by yourself. It's going to be And he thinks Tanjiro's going to be like, "No, I'm going to be a Hashira

[13:44] before you." And Tanjiro just goes, "Okay, and Nezuko and I will help you." And it's just like clear as day in his eyes and like there's a little twinkle and Genya's like rendered speechless. He's like

[13:58] That's one of my favorite moments. It's so cute. And I love how when that came reposting it that were like, "Yeah, there's no straight answer to this." Like >> [laughter]

[14:12] >> there isn't a straight answer to this. Um I really like this ship. It's just It's really cute and I feel like these two work well together. They're just opposite enough that they would get along and they bring out the best in

[14:24] each other. So this one is going to go in S because this one is far and away my favorite one. I have no qualms with it. I do need to address the fact that I did I do need to address the fact that I did say about Kanao that I can't really like

[14:38] the ship that much because I prefer her with Tanjiro. I do feel this way with Tanjiro as well. Like at the end of the day, TanKana Tanjiro and Kanao is my OTP. It is my favorite. I do have an easier time shipping Tanjiro with like

[14:51] multiple characters, like a multi-ship type thing because Tanjiro does have the show, right? Because he is the main character. He gets this development. I

[15:03] do like to ship ships when there is at least a little something in the canon least a little something in the canon material that like helps guide me in choosing to ship that. Uh a lot of the ships with Genya don't have that just

[15:16] because he is not present in the story for that long, actually. Tanjiro, of course, gets good development with him. Therefore, like I generally like ships with Tanjiro a little bit more. He's also my favorite character, so that's

[15:30] that. Um this next one is Yushiro. That's his father. Gyomei is Genya's father because Genya's biological father is a piece of crap. So, Gyomei is his father. So, I'm not shipping them romantically. That's also

[15:45] an 11-year age gap. What are we shipping, guys? Like What are we shipping, guys? Like genuinely, what is going through our heads when we say, "Yeah, I want to ship this 16-year-old with this 27-year-old?"

[16:02] >> Same goes for this one. What the heck? Where did this one come from? Why did I Where did this one come from? Why did I have to add Genya and Aoi, but Genya and Gyutaro was there? There's nothing in my head that tells me even remotely to ship

[16:16] that. Genya and Nezuko, um This is another one I've talked about. Like I I like the idea of it. I understand why like they're in a similar age bracket. She's 14, he's 16. It's the same age difference between as her and

[16:33] her canon ship. So, like I I get why, and they also have like some cute little moments and also like have an older sibling that's very protective over them, have demon problems. You You know, it's like, "Okay, I get that

[16:48] they match." And that's very cute. So, I kind of like this. Let's put it in A. I think that belongs in A. I feel like it's better than Genya and Inosuke, but it's not better

[17:03] than the Maybe it I actually like it better, I Genya with the Kamado siblings, it's just great. It's just great. We love it. It's very wholesome. Either one. You can have either one if he lived, which he

[17:16] you know, there's that. So, this one I had to add, again, wondering why I had to add this one when Gyutaro and Genya was there, but this is Genya and Aoi. I added this because I actually kind of like this ship.

[17:32] Like, there's nothing wrong with it in my book. I think they would work really anything else to say. I feel like I've talked a lot about how the dynamic of a relationship should work, and I'm going to put this one in A because I think

[17:46] it's really cute. And then the last one, I've definitely seen some people ship Genya with the butterfly triplets. Again, I feel like this age gap around 10 to 12 years old, but that's not It's never stated. I don't like this.

[18:06] feel like they're just too young. I feel like this is just a bit too much. But again, I only added it because I've seen it on the internet. I really tried to just take the ships that I have seen people actively ship and write fan fics

[18:21] about and put them in here. That's what I always try to do. I have the tier for the ones I find gross, you know, and there's a lot of them. But that's my tier list. This I did this really quickly. Yeah, I I don't know. It

[18:34] Genya's just a tough one. Genya is a tough one because he doesn't live. So, I don't spend a lot of time thinking about like his romantic pairings because it's just so hard for me to be like, "Oh, yeah, this 16-year-old who's

[18:48] "Oh, yeah, this 16-year-old who's traumatized and a child soldier would have time to develop romantic feelings for this random character." I just I don't see it. It's probably why the only ship I have like true feelings about is

[19:03] one's really adorable, and that's just because since Tanjiro is the main character, like, there's a lot more of a dynamic there. There's a lot more of an interaction there. There's a lot more for me to look at in the canon material

[19:18] to be like, "Okay, like that one makes sense. It's cute. They would work well together." And Tanjiro is very shippable, but again, that's because he everyone. So, that's what makes him so shippable. So, there's my list. Go ahead

[19:33] and go off in the comments about whatever. Yeah, you always like to do I don't really have anything else to say. I'm sorry this one was maybe boring say. I'm sorry this one was maybe boring because
