The video aims to answer: what is Twitch Affiliate, how to grow a following, and what to do after achieving Affiliate status.
Twitch Affiliate is a monetization program allowing broadcasters to earn money through subscriptions, bits, and game sales.
Streamers can view Twitch as a hobby or a career. The video focuses on those aiming for a career in social media.
Requirements: 50 followers, 500 total minutes broadcast, 7 unique broadcast days, and an average of 3 concurrent viewers in the last 30 days.
Follow-for-follow schemes are ineffective as they result in inactive followers. Aim for genuine followers who watch your content.
Having a consistent streaming schedule helps viewers know when to find you, aiding in meeting the 7 unique broadcast days requirement.
To grow, create content on platforms like YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, which have algorithms that promote new content.
The host grew from 75 to 5712 Twitter followers and gained 102 Twitch followers by creating discoverable content.
After hitting Affiliate, focus on improving stream quality, creating sub badges and emotes, and engaging the community with giveaways.
Once making money, decide if streaming is a hobby or a career. A career requires significant time commitment beyond streaming, including content creation and brand building.
Achieving Twitch Affiliate is the first step in monetizing your stream, but sustained growth requires creating content on discoverable platforms and treating your channel as a business if you aim for a career.

16:00[00:02] today's video we're going to answer three important questions that all question one what's affiliate what are what can i do to grow my following so i
[00:14] and question three what the heck do i do now i think it's gonna be a real fun video so uh stick around and uh let's roll that intro roll that intro did i just lasso
[00:30] did i just lasso [Music] started a couple things for you guys one if you like the video please be sure to
[00:42] little bell notification so you can get notified on my next video with me i do stream on twitch every sunday tuesday and thursday at 8 30. links are in the description below and right here
[00:59] question one what the heck is twitch affiliate and what are the steps to get there so twitch affiliate in short is a way for you to monetize your stream the actual definition from twitch's
[01:14] is this article explains how qualified broadcasters can start monetizing their what that means to you you can make money so what i want you to think about is what do you want to do on twitch what's your goal
[01:28] there's really two goals that can kind of meet in the middle but they're side one is uh this is going to be a hobby for me which for most people it is and i think it's fantastic it's super fun to play
[01:42] uh and what better way to make new friends than to broadcast your video meet new people and get new friends to play with it's a win-win nothing wrong with that if that's you you can still watch the video but it's
[01:55] not going to be aimed directly at you the second side of that coin is for people that want to do this as a career they want a career this isn't going to be video games this is going to be
[02:08] a career in social media what that means is that your goal starting out or your main end of the road goal is that you want to do this as a full-time your bills it's going to pay your health insurance
[02:20] family's health insurance i know that's old guy talk i'm an old guy check out my but you know this is important stuff you have to figure out if this is something that you want to monetize meaning make money off of it
[02:33] and if you want this to be your source of income so if that is what you want to do affiliate is the first babiest of teeny tiny baby steps it only comes after hitting the start streaming button
[02:46] video is basically how do we make money off of uh and how do we get the ability to make money off of our stream linked right here uh that's gonna have how to set your
[03:00] stream up how to make a stream look good this one is how to make some cheddar off this one is how to make some cheddar off of it this website right here affiliate.twitch.tv i'll leave a link in
[03:13] uh also you could google it not trying to be a jerk but you're gonna have to put in some work to get this so googling shouldn't be too much of an ask all right twitch affiliate program what is it let's zoom in a little bit for you
[03:26] here it's how you earn on twitch you subscribe to your favorite subscriber you need to be an affiliate to have subscriptions up including twitch prime which doesn't cost your viewers anything you earn bits on twitch bits are like a
[03:38] pretty much you get game sales i don't know about that i haven't really looked into it who qualifies there are four main things that you need to do to qualify uh in no particular order
[03:50] first you need to have at least 50 followers we're gonna get that growing our stream by using outside forces to bring not like witchcraft outside stuff to come in
[04:04] is not good but there are other places out there that have great discoverability places like youtube twitter instagram that's true because everybody's been stuck in a youtube
[04:19] rabbit hole where you just keep getting recommended stuff and recommended stuff eating it up some of you might be watching this video on your recommended which if so excellent that means that the algorithm
[04:31] is working this is what we're gonna do we need to grow our stream about but that's how we're gonna get our 50 followers let me give you a warning under zero circumstances should you do any sort of follow for follow or sub for
[04:45] it sounds like a good idea at first hey john cuatro john cuatro you follow me i'll follow you we'll grow together it doesn't work because you're only following that person
[04:57] they're only following you because you said you'd follow them meaning that when you go live they're not watching when they go live you're not watching either it's just empty numbers your follower
[05:11] except to get to the 50. the idea is that you have 50 people that stopped by somewhere and said i want to make sure that i'm
[05:23] quattro you're kind of okay at that game and uh and your gray hair is sweet i'm gonna hit the follow button so i'm here next that's the type of followers you want so don't worry about like oh i got 150 i
[05:38] if they're not watching your stream they're not worth anything 500 total and seven unique broadcasts these should be pretty easy 500 minutes you just need to stream 500 minutes in 30 days and you need to do it on
[05:52] seven different days at least easiest way to do that is to have a schedule so here's my page here's my schedule surprise stream coming up tonight so i didn't put it on my schedule
[06:04] but i guaranteed i'm going to be streaming on sunday playing escape from tarkov dying a lot from 6 30 to 10 30. if i can tell you guys anything it's get a schedule so people know when to find
[06:17] what's called evergreen content meaning things that stick around forever and you're live on twitch you're really yeah you have vods but no one's gonna search for someone that they don't know
[06:30] to watch a video that they did yesterday that's not going to happen and twitch doesn't have a discoverability thing where you can go through a backlog of so we're going to create youtube videos or twitter videos twitter posts
[06:43] whatever it is you want to do you need to create content elsewhere and three or more concurrent viewers so let's talk about our followers and that's the steps once you hit those steps you're good
[06:58] you can fill out your affiliate form so here is part two of the video here is part two of the video what do we do to get there create content on discoverable platforms so i have a twitter an instagram a
[07:14] youtube and a tick tock all four of those things because they algorithms that push new content out to people so i can get people to find me so let's take a look at my youtube
[07:27] so let's take a look at my youtube channel to start started this thing really started it back in march uh which is also when i started that my push for affiliate um i have been streaming for
[07:40] just pull up twitch stream for 20 minutes 40 was that and i got nowhere youtube channel right so i had done some streaming on youtube
[07:55] place was best for me i streamed on youtube i streamed on twitch and i youtube i streamed on twitch and i streamed on mix
[08:14] past streams so these they don't really count you know 16 views 12 views seven uh i did make a video on how to make a logo so back in march i got a go xlr mini which is what i use for my audio and i
[08:28] i made that video it did pretty well i've got about 4 000 views i get about i've got about 4 000 views i get about uh i don't know 20 to 30 views a day on camera how to set up your twitch uh hopefully
[08:42] made a video uh three days ago on my lights out here youtube last night uh that didn't go so hot but you know whatever it's there if we go to my twitch channel itself i
[08:56] have 102 followers so i have 102 people and that's actually 35 people in the last couple weeks my overall views i don't think you can see it but it's right around a thousand so for as long as i've been streaming
[09:08] hundreds of hours on twitch um i've got about a thousand views i would say that about seven to eight hundred of those views have come in the hit affiliate and that's because i started doing these
[09:22] things that i'm telling you about today to make myself more discoverable so i've made a lot of mistakes along the way i've streamed to nobody for a long time follow these simple steps so like i said step one
[09:37] go make content somewhere else so if we add up because these were streams and they don't really count but if you start from here to here i've got about 6 300
[09:49] views in the last couple months that's 6 300 people that have no idea who i am stream on twitch i've seen people come to my twitch streams and talk to me about my videos it works consistency on
[10:04] youtube needs that's a problem for me so that's why i'm making this video i just another one trying to do at least one video a week see and then i started making a video once a
[10:17] month and that's just it doesn't help with youtube's like hey do people we don't know because he doesn't post enough content so post your content twitter is like hey i'm going live i post stuff about twitch post memes
[10:31] whatever in the last couple of months i've gone from about 75 followers to 5712 people that follow me so i say that i'm some of them click it and retweet it i usually get about you know 15 retweets
[10:45] on my going live which means people are at least gonna come into my twitch chat this is discoverable you can also do um other stuff well uh make sorry uh you can make videos here look bam
[10:58] here's a video i made i don't know if the music copyright for you but you know it was a a quick minute long video of some of my you know kills and stuff and playing apex um you know here's
[11:13] sharing my videos here's the music i'm listening to right right so this guy harris i love his music this copyright free music you're i love it so when i find something i like i tag him
[11:29] followers so that's exposure here's another video right okay check it out little 39 second long video i'm gonna little clips and i tagged it destiny the game destiny
[11:44] 2 twitch twitch clips using hashtags so that video now falls in line with this huge other thing of video but these are discoverable your past content and find ways to find you that's how
[11:59] you're going to grow that's literally the secret to growing on twitch there it's execution of that is the hardest part but the actual steps not hard at all um
[12:12] i think that answers question two make content discoverability and drive those people to your twitch because twitch has got great monetization way better than the other
[12:26] honestly um you know twitch is pretty much charity people subscribe to you bucks so you can monetize the heck out of twitch and make some money by driving people from other platforms
[12:39] people from other platforms over to you that you've hit affiliate now what's next well a lot
[12:51] so hitting affiliate that's your first very first little baby step the actual side of what's next is you need that instead of your bank account or paypal
[13:06] money but then you need to start kind of i don't want to say changing but you need to remember now that your channel has the ability to monetize start coming up with ways to treat your
[13:19] well right so if they you know here perfect example get yourself some sub badges you can go to any different websites and you can buy them uh like own dot tv is a good one nerd or die you can
[13:31] very expensive um and you can customize them so that people have a reason to sub to you it's not just you know like hey i'm i'm gonna give this guy five bucks or this girl
[13:44] dollars and not only and do i feel like i'm giving free content for me either in your twitch channel youtube your twitter your instagram you've been giving away
[13:59] actually pay you for doing that uh but also make sure that they have an awesome sub badge make sure that you have some emotes like i said commission it or an even better option is to go to
[14:12] and find some videos and learn how to do it yourself give people more than just a so it's not so much a charity they're going to get they're going to get some cool emotes they're going to get some sub badges
[14:25] you know if you start to get enough people subscribing to you and following think about doing like community giveaways it doesn't have to be something expensive be a 25 you know amazon gift card just
[14:38] something to get people involved also take a little bit of time and work on your stream itself don't go out and spend the money make some money if your computer stinks upgrade portions
[14:51] but try to spend the money that you make on twitch on things that are going to your viewers have a better time so i got new lights for a couple reasons one they're better lights than my old lights and they make me look better on stream
[15:04] they light me up better two my old lights got so hot in here very long without sweating and looking like i wasn't having fun games but i wasn't having fun sweating due to lights that were this
[15:19] stream out you know here's my look at that i didn't pay for that level he's awesome i'm gonna link him in the description too here's my starting soon screen uh here's my chatting screen so if we're just
[15:34] my socials are there um up here you know these are people subscribed they've followed they're helping support me and support the channel make sure that you're giving back to those people
[15:48] uh by providing them with high quality content and also something you know some fun stuff that they can use um and at this point in time once you start making a little bit of money this is when i want you to decide which
[16:00] do you want this to be a hobby which it can be that's totally fine is this going to be a hobby for you that you know you play games you make a got your nine to five or whatever job it is you're still doing that full-time
[16:14] um or do you want to take this to a professional level do you want this to be your full-time job and can you commit to the time that it's going to take for this to be your full-time job because here's the other thing it's not
[16:28] day i mean it really just isn't um not for a games for you know maybe four or five six streamer so let's play video games for six hours
[16:43] you're gonna be playing a lot of the same game over and over again because and then when you're done with that well now we need to go work on a youtube and we need to put out our twitter posts we need to put out our instagram posts
[16:55] build our brand if you're a bigger bigger streamer you're starting to get watching your content outside of twitch about reaching out to people and trying to have a partnership with
[17:09] them hey i really like your product and here's what i bring to the table every time i turn on my stream 400 people watch me live or every time i put out a video i get ten thousand twenty thousand forty
[17:23] thousand fifty thousand views i'd like to partner with you and show believe in it don't take money from people just to do that's the point i'm making you need to focus like it's a business and you're
[17:37] i know it sounds crazy but that's that's literally how you have to think about it enjoyable to you if you do have any questions or anything remember i do every sunday tuesday and thursday usually around seven to eight o'clock
[17:52] there when i'm going to be live um stop by here's the link right here twitch.tv john quattro and uh if you liked the hit the like button hit subscribe ring the little bell for the notification
[18:05] uh or don't doesn't matter to me either way uh but i hope to see you next time way uh but i hope to see you next time and uh have a good time and happy gaming
[18:29] oh [Music]
[18:43] yes [Music]
