AI Summary

This video presents a systematic, three-phase strategy for freelancers to secure their first client within seven days. The method focuses on scalable prospecting using Apollo.io, automated email outreach through Instantly, and a volume-based approach to closing deals, with a specific emphasis on targeting US-based D2C brands.

[00:02]
Common Freelance Advice is Ineffective

Typical advice like building a portfolio and DMing on LinkedIn/Instagram is saturated and limiting due to account bans and message limits.

[00:28]
The 7-Day Promise and Volume Strategy

The video promises a method to sign a first client in 7 days, using a volume strategy (thousands of emails) rather than manual outreach. The creator claims to have generated $20,000 in 28 days for an affiliate agency.

[01:22]
Three Phases of the Week

The week is divided into: Day 1-3 prospecting, Day 3-5 email outreach, Day 5-7 closing.

[02:00]
Prospecting at Scale

Instead of doing upfront work for each prospect, the strategy is to send thousands of emails systematically, so even a 0.5-0.75% reply rate yields results.

[02:29]
ICP and Lead Hunting with Apollo.io

Define your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), then use Apollo.io to find verified emails. Example: video editor targeting fashion/clothing brands under $1M revenue, contacting marketing managers or media buyers.

[03:35]
Using Apollo.io Filters

In Apollo.io, filter by industry, revenue, job titles, and verified email status. Export the list with details like first name, company, and LinkedIn profile.

[06:37]
Adding Ice Breakers with ChatGPT

Personalize emails by adding ice breakers. Upload the lead list to ChatGPT and use a prompt to generate ice breakers for each lead, but manually review to avoid over-enthusiasm.

[08:18]
Email Outreach with Instantly

Use Instantly for cold email outreach. Set up mailboxes (recommend Outlook for beginners), create a campaign, and use personalization variables.

[10:47]
Setting Up the Campaign

In Instantly, create a campaign, upload leads, write a subject line and email body with personalization, and set up a sequence with 3-4 follow-ups.

[12:47]
Campaign Analytics and Closing

Monitor open and reply rates in Instantly's analytics. Use the CRM to manage replies and book calls. The final phase is closing deals.

[13:13]
Volume is Key

Sending 600 emails per day (20 Outlook accounts x 30 emails) for 10 days results in 6000 emails, guaranteeing replies and deals. Avoid Gmail due to spam issues.

The video concludes that a volume-based cold email strategy, using tools like Apollo.io and Instantly, is the most effective way for freelancers to get clients quickly. By scaling outreach and personalizing with ice breakers, even beginners can secure their first client within a week.

[00:02] that teach you how to get clients as a freelancer. But every time you get the same BS. Build a portfolio, DM me on Lindin or DM me on Instagram. And this stuff really works. But the competition is so much that it is

[00:15] very difficult for beginners. And all these methods are also limiting. Your accounts get banned. The stand out factor is reduced and you can only send a limited number of messages per day. Well, this video is not going to be like all those other videos. If

[00:28] you watch this video completely, you will sign your first client within the next 7 days. Whether you're a copywriter, sales funnel builder, website designer, social media manager, running Facebook or Google ads for people, or any other

[00:41] service. This is the only video in need. In the last 28 days, I have generated an opportunity for my affiliate agency using this method and made about $20,000 and turned them into paying clients. And by the way we only target USA based DC brands

[00:55] that generate revenue of $ million per year or more. So in our case the close rate and reply rate are very low. This is the strategy I used around 2020 as a freelance writer to generate clients who would send me this

[01:07] type of payment. Make sure you remove all distractions and just watch this 10 to 11 minute video. And you will generate so many clients that it feels illegal. So let's start. Let's do it. Now

[01:22] you want to earn money, you will have to learn a skill. Be it freelance writing, copywriting, video editing, graphic designing, ads management, etc. Now to get clients in seven days you have to divide your week

[01:35] into three phases. Day one to three prospecting, day three to five email outreach and day five to closing. Now many people tell you to first do upfront work for the people and then do outreach to them. For example, if you are a

[01:48] video editor, then first edit the video yourself and then send it to the creator so that he gets impressed by you. And to a large extent it works. This Works Great Actually. But again, if you're messaging 50 creators daily, you won't sit down to edit 50 videos.

[02:00] In my strategy, prospecting at scale and sending [music] thousands of emails systematically. So that even if you get 10 to 15 replies out of 2000 emails,

[02:13] your work will be done. Let's start with the fuzz one. Well, for prospecting you have to do three things. First ICP Figure Out targeting, dentists, personal trainers, gyms, D2C companies, copywriters,

[02:29] founders in a certain category or any other customer profile. The second thing you need to do is lead hunting. And for this, there is a tool called apollo.io, you use it. And the third thing you need to do is get your apollo.iio leads

[02:42] list ready for email outreach. So let's say I'm a video editor Now I can But from my experience I know that fashion and clothing brands run a lot of

[02:55] video ads on Instagram, YouTube and so on. So my ideal customer profile would be fashion or clothing brands doing $1 million or less in revenue. Why? Because big brands already have a creative department.

[03:07] brands to outreach to. But I also need to know who I'm going to send emails to when I do outreach. Now you cannot sell video editing directly to the founder. So I have to make sure that I contact the right person.

[03:21] I can target the marketing manager, head of marketing or media buyer of any company. And by the way, if you ever get confused about what your ICP is? So you can also ask GPT. You will get very good guidance. So

[03:35] my first step in the prospecting process is complete. I know what to sell, I know who to sell to, and I know the best person whose email to hunt. Now the second step is lead hunting or in other words finding verified emails so that we

[03:47] can outreach to clients. And as I said before, for this we will use a tool called Apollo.iio. So I'm going to come over to Apollo.iio and create a free account. Now I would recommend that you take a paid plan of this tool because

[04:00] in the free plan you get only 100 credits per month. Their basic plan Their basic plan costs $59 per month and gives you 2500 for freelancers. Well, when I started, I used to

[04:13] create 10 new accounts every month so that I could get free credits. Now once I created my account. I will come to the dashboard and click on the People section. I will come to the then filters section and select the industry. For example

[04:25] apparel and fashion. In revenue, I will select zero to $1 million. In job titles I would include positions like Marketing Manager, Marketing, Marketing Director, VP Marketing, Media Buyers, Paid Social Extra.

[04:40] In the Email Status section, we will select Verified Emails. Why? Because what can you do with non-verified emails anyway? Now as you can see, Now as you can see, even after applying so many filters, I have 645 people to

[04:52] whom I can outreach. So now to export these, I will select all with the help of this check box. And for this example I will select only 25 contacts. When you do, you have to click on Select All 645.

[05:05] Once I do this I will click on the Export button. I will click on next. I will click on next. I will My request will be processed in a short while and I will download my list by clicking on the download button.

[05:18] As you can see we have received all the verified emails with all the necessary details like first name, last name, company website URL, Lindin profile, company name etc. Now

[05:31] you can use this method for any ICP. For example, if I want to target dentists, I just have to type dentist in the search and it will target dentists in India, I will select India in the location. If

[05:44] I want to target personal trainers in India, I will type that. And as you can see I will get a lot of leads. And if I want to target personal trainers in the US websites or to manage their social media, I can select that.

[05:57] From copywriters, practitioners and local businesses to brands doing millions of dollars in revenue. You can target anyone with this tool. You this tool. You

[06:10] companies that are hiring for a role. For example, I write here content writer and it will get me all those companies who need content writers. By export the emails of HR managers or founders. Anyways coming back to the topic we have

[06:25] also completed the second step of Fuzz One. Which is exporting the lead list. Now the third step is to organize our email list. It's not rocket science. not rocket science.

[06:37] this particular example I only keep first name, company name, URL, Lindin profile and email. And I will add another column where I will write ice breakers. Now what is this ice breaker? Well, this means that when you send cold emails to people,

[06:51] your emails should not sound robotic. A little bit of personalization is necessary. For example, let's say I make YouTube videos and I get emails from people sending me thumbnail services. But if after looking at his email

[07:03] I feel that he is just sending the same email to everyone then I would just ignore it. But at the same time, if someone sends me an email and the second line of the email says, Hey Shivash, I really like that you use Google Ads instead of Facebook Ads in your

[07:15] dropshipping video, then it will instantly grab my attention. So you have to make sure that when you send emails, you go to that person's company website, Lindin profile or Instagram profile and find some details to add to your email so that that

[07:28] person does not ignore your email. Basically, you have to add some human effect details to your emails so that the person feels that you have written the email exclusively to him and not run a mass email campaign. Now suppose you have exported 1000 emails with the

[07:41] help of Apollo.iio. Now you will not sit checking every person's Lindin profile or Instagram profile. Right? Well, there is no need to worry about this. JPT, right? You have to come to GPT. You have to upload your leads file here and then

[07:54] tell JPT to add an ice breaker. You can use this print. Because we have already given all the details in the list. JPT Will Write Ice Breakers for All of Them. And This Is How Our Outreach Ready List Will Look. Now make

[08:06] sure you check the ice breakers manually for a final review. Sometimes GPT does a little too much buttering. So you have to keep that in mind. It's a it. And by the way, you can

[08:18] get clients even without ice breakers. There is no rule that you have to do it. So we are done with phase one. Now comes phase two which is setting up email outreach. And called Instantly. Now what is this instantaneously? Well Instantly

[08:34] is a cold email outreach tool that can significantly reduce your headache. Just think about it. If you manually send emails to thousands of people, even if it is a copy and situation will become something like this. Oh, I'm starting to feel dizzy now.

[08:47] And second of all, you can't send that many emails without cold email infrastructure. Why ? Because there is a daily spending limit and Google will start sending your emails start sending too many emails. And that's where

[09:00] tools like Instantly come in handy. And to initiate this process we have to take three steps. First, create a free Instantly Pay account. Second, set up mailboxes and third, set up your campaign. So first of all you have to come to Instantly Pay and

[09:13] create a free account and after creating the account you have to setup your mail boxes. Now what does this mean? Well, when you send an email to someone, you have three options. Or you can use Gmail for example [email protected]

[09:27] basically using free Google mailboxes. But its trust rate is a little low. I also generally do not reply if I receive any mail from @gmail.com and probably you may not do the same either. Now the second option you have is to buy a domain and

[09:40] create its email account. Like I can buy a domain for example sh.com and then get professional email of that domain. For example [email protected] this seems quite trustworthy. But one downside to this is that you

[09:53] You will first have to establish the reputation of your domain or in other words warm up your emails or mail boxes and this also costs to five domains and mail boxes. Now the third option you have is to

[10:08] use Microsoft Outlook. For example [email protected], you also get these mailboxes for free like Gmail. But it is much more trustworthy than @gmail.com because it is not overused. Now if you

[10:22] are a beginner then you do not need to buy domain, warm up mail boxes or buy pre warmed up mail boxes. So the best option for you would be Outlook which is free. Just like you normally create accounts on Gmail, you have to

[10:34] create four emails on Outlook as well. Once you have created your four email accounts on Outlook. You just need to instantly go to the Emails section and link your email accounts. It is a simple process. And now comes the best part

[10:47] which is step three of phase two of setting up your email campaign. So I instantly come and then click on campaign. I will name the campaign as a video for this example. Then I'll upload the leads to my campaign and select whatever my columns are.

[11:01] Everything else is absolutely fine. I give this ice breaker column a personalization variable. And then I will upload the lead list. Next we need to come to the sequence section and write the subject line of our email.

[11:15] For example, I can ask her first name quick question. In the email body we will write Hey First Name. Then we will add the personalization variable. Then You Can Write Something Like This I am a video editor based in India who helps companies

[11:30] create stunning video ads that convert great. Here's my portfolio would love to work with you. If we preview it, the actual email that will go to the clients will look something like this. Now this is just an example. The actual email you

[11:43] write should be very sleek and professional. If you want, you can get your emails written by GPT or you can write them yourself. If you want to write GPT then make sure you remove the famous chat GPT Dash. Because as soon as everyone sees it, they will know that it is an

[11:55] AI written email. One tip I have for you guys is to keep your emails short so that they are easy to read and easy to reply to. Now we keep two-three steps in the sequence. So in the second step I can come and write something like, his first name, I sent an

[12:08] email last week on how I can improve conversions for your brand through my video ads that perform like crazy. Mind if I send you a free sample. Thanks Shiva. You can select the timing as to how many days after the first email the second email will be sent.

[12:20] And you can add one or two more steps to be persistent. I would recommend that you keep three to four follow-ups and not more than that. Once done you can schedule your campaign however you want. And in the second last step,

[12:33] you will also enable open tracking in the options, which will let us know how many people are opening our emails. We will also choose our email accounts through which we will do outreach. And then we will finally publish and launch our campaign.

[12:47] After launching, we will see all the data in Campaign Analytics. Such as open rates, reply rates etc. All the replies received will be visible in the CRM section so that you do not have to open Outlook emails again and again to check the replies.

[13:00] You can check all the replies from here and also book calls by responding to interested customers. Whenever a positive reply comes, you will also be sent such a notification instantly. Once your campaign goes live, you'll slowly start

[13:13] left is phase three which is closing [music] the deals. It's That Simple Guys. Now what generally happens is that people use Gmail and send 200 emails in a day and then all their emails go into spam. And then they think, why did the reply

[13:26] not come? And on top of that, almost everyone does because this is the only scalable process. Imagine yourself having 20 Outlook accounts each sending 30 emails per day. That's 600 emails per day. If you send emails continuously for 10 days.

[13:42] That is 6000 emails. 110% you will get replies and deals will also be closed. In the game of volume, people even fall into the trap of scammers who try to steal the jam. that provides real value to clients. So there is no reason why you did

[13:56] not get a positive reply. All you need to do is use a volume strategy. And with that said, if you have any questions, please let me know in the comment section below. And best of luck for your first ₹10,000, ₹50,000 and even ₹1 lakh. I'll See the Top.
