How I Accidentally Became a Chinese Movie Star

[00:03] very Chinese secret from you. You see, a month before tip to tip 2 ever happened, Chinese movie star. It's not a joke either. I was invited by the creators of next game. If you don't know, it's like a fully interactive movie where you pick

[00:18] what happens next in the film and get to see what scene plays out, whether it's good or most of the time bad. I played the first game on stream and it got a also overseas in China. And because of that, they thought I'd be a good fit in

[00:30] the second. The only problem is I've never been to China, nor do I speak never been to China, nor do I speak Chinese.

[00:44] started in Guangjo. Now we're here in I don't even know what the place is >> Are we in Yiw? >> Yeah. Yiw. Okay. We're in Yiu, which as Universal Studios where they actually film Chinese cinema here, and it's a big

[02:31] Chinese Imperial Palaces. I think they literally recreated the entire Chin Dynasty Imperial Palace just for a tourist destination and film sets. It's like super lock and key because I got to make sure that nothing leaks.

[05:21] Empress isn't the same as a game development studio. See, I'm a publisher. I've published a few games. Ultra and Demon Bluff to name a couple. This is just a movie studio. I know they're a game first, but ultimately the

[05:34] something beautiful. So, these are real actors, real actresses, real sound guys, real directors, real cinematographers, and the crew is massive. I mean, this is an undertaking. I've been on a lot of shoots in my day. I've done a goddamn

[05:48] Hotels.com commercial. This was like [music] five times the amount of people. So when I was ushered in to meet Empress Woo aka Pisha, it felt like a Makea-Wish of Dune. >> Oh [ __ ] I ain't ready for this.

[14:20] obsessed with ancient Tang Dynasty, China. So much so that I studied their language. I studied their customs, and I was going to meet the empress to flex all of that knowledge that I'd accumulated. They wanted me to both say

[14:33] a tongue twister and a genuine ancient Chinese poem that was actually written by Empress Woo back in the Tang Dynasty. For an English equivalent, this is like For an English equivalent, this is like doing she sells she sells by she this
