▶ Play ClipThis video provides a comprehensive guide to becoming a VTuber across various budgets, from free options to high-end custom models. It covers different model types, software, and tracking technologies, emphasizing that entertainment value matters more than expensive equipment.
Recommended for beginners to test passion. Options include free 3D models via Void Studio, PNGtubers using VGEN, or customizable models ($100-$300) like Suika's.
Custom models from artists on VGEN. Prices vary based on complexity. The creator's model cost $10,000 due to high-demand artist and rigger, plus many toggles.
Top-tier artists like Camo Chiru and riggers like Koma. High quality comes with high demand and price. The creator's 2D model looks 3D due to advanced rigging.
Artists draw and cut up the model, then riggers animate every part. Complex models can take over 2 years to complete.
3D: Warudo (Steam). 2D: VTube Studio (Steam). PNGtuber: Discord Reactive or Fugite Tech as browser source in OBS.
Default tracking is basic. Vbridger tracking uses iPhone infrared for precise mouth movements. Requires Vbridger or Vitamins app (free).
Starting with budget-friendly options is key to discovering your passion for VTubing. The most important factor is entertainment, not the cost of your model.

8:10[00:00] So, you want to become a YouTuber? Well,
[00:02] you came to the right place. In this
[00:04] video, I'm going to be showing you how
[00:05] to be a YouTuber at every budget and
[00:07] exactly what you'll need to do and what
[00:09] websites to use. Hopefully, it helps.
[00:11] There will also be timestamps below if
[00:12] you want to skip to certain budgets if
[00:14] you have a specific want in mind. Let's
[00:16] get into it. First, let's go over the 0
[00:19] to, let's say, $300 range. This is for
[00:23] people who are just starting out. I
[00:24] would really recommend that you start
[00:26] out in this range when becoming a
[00:29] VTuber. mostly because first of all, you
[00:31] want to figure out whether or not you
[00:32] have a passion for it and if you even
[00:34] actually like streaming at all. Period.
[00:36] When starting out V tubing, you have a
[00:38] couple of choices, especially on a
[00:40] budget. You can be a free 3D model, you
[00:43] can be a PNG tuber, or you can even get
[00:46] pre-made or customizable models online.
[00:49] The first one we'll be going over is a
[00:51] completely free option. This is called
[00:52] Void Studio. It's a software that allows
[00:55] you to make a completely free 3D model
[00:57] by customizing and choosing pre-made
[00:59] assets that are free on the software.
[01:01] It's pretty great for starting out. I
[01:03] personally have never used it, but I've
[01:04] only heard good things and I've seen
[01:06] many cool models come out of it. Another
[01:08] good option is becoming a PNG tuber
[01:10] where rather than a full model, you have
[01:12] a 2D piece of art where you get a
[01:15] version that's talking and not talking.
[01:16] There's a website called VGEN which is
[01:18] actually a great website to get many of
[01:20] your assets from. Uh, and if you just
[01:21] look up PNG Tuber, you can see all the
[01:23] options here. You have a lot to choose
[01:25] from, so you can get pretty creative
[01:26] with it and get your OC made. The third
[01:28] option, which is a bit higher in the
[01:30] budget, around the $100 to $300 mark,
[01:33] and this is actually the one that I
[01:34] recommend, is you can get a customizable
[01:37] VTuber. Now, Suika, who is mutual of
[01:39] mine, has made an amazing one, which you
[01:42] probably have heard of because so many
[01:44] YouTubers are using this, but there are
[01:46] so many customizations to choose from.
[01:48] all sorts of hair types, eyes, outfits.
[01:52] It's amazing. This is probably the most
[01:54] popular customizable model at the
[01:56] moment. However, there are so many
[01:58] others to choose from by amazing
[02:00] artists. This one comes fully created
[02:03] and rigged. It's just plug-andplay. You
[02:05] put it into V Studio and you're good to
[02:06] go. Here's another one I wanted to
[02:08] showcase. This appears to be a
[02:09] androgynous or maybe male model. I'm not
[02:11] 100% sure because I just found this, but
[02:13] there are also male versions out there
[02:15] for those of you who want to become a
[02:17] male VTuber. Pretty cool customizations
[02:19] overall. Very, very cool. A third option
[02:21] is there's this website called Booth
[02:23] where people will actually create and
[02:26] release pre-made models of their own.
[02:28] These ones are not usually customizable,
[02:31] however some of them might be. Oh,
[02:33] there's model. Yeah, you can just come
[02:34] on here, search for male VTuber, female
[02:36] VTuber, and there are many pre-made
[02:38] models that are just completely ready to
[02:39] go, plugandplay. It's pretty awesome,
[02:41] actually. I would really recommend this
[02:43] if you don't have a specific design in
[02:44] mind, really. Next, let's get into the
[02:46] mid-range. We'll say this is around 300
[02:49] to 5,000. I know that seems like a big
[02:51] budget, but it really just depends on
[02:53] what you as the creator want because
[02:55] when it comes to VTuber models, you can
[02:57] be as creative as you want, but the more
[02:59] creative that you get, usually the price
[03:01] will increase to reflect that. Now,
[03:02] here's where we come back to VGEN, the
[03:04] site that I recommended earlier. Here
[03:06] you can see there's a bunch of things
[03:07] where you can get Vtuber models, Vtuber
[03:08] art, and Vtuber rigging. When a model is
[03:10] made, it needs to be drawn and then
[03:12] rigged. or if it's 3D, it needs to be
[03:14] created in mesh and then drawn on and
[03:17] then rigged or well it needs to be
[03:18] textured rather. Now again, VGEN is a
[03:21] really great site for starters. Models
[03:23] can range anywhere from I would say $200
[03:27] to $5,000 for the art. Again, I know
[03:30] that sounds crazy, but it depends on
[03:32] what you as a creator want. [music] For
[03:33] example, my model cost around $10,000.
[03:37] But before you freak out, the reason why
[03:39] my model costs so much is because I see
[03:42] out a very specific artist who is in
[03:44] high demand and also a very specific
[03:46] rigger who is in high demand. And on top
[03:48] of that, I didn't ask for just one
[03:50] toggle. I have many, many toggles,
[03:53] [music] different outfits, different
[03:54] hairstyles, different like everything
[03:58] faces, and like all this crazy stuff
[04:00] that my model can do. most models don't
[04:03] need. And also, you can see my tracking
[04:06] is very very like it. It almost looks
[04:08] like I'm 3D. Uh,
[04:12] you see what I mean? This is like what
[04:14] the top of the top gets you, but most
[04:17] people honestly don't [music] need it.
[04:18] The reality with Vtubing is you don't
[04:21] need the best stuff to perform well. You
[04:23] just need to be entertaining. I got this
[04:25] because my amazing community helped me
[04:27] and supported me, and this was my way to
[04:29] thank them. I also wanted to show you
[04:31] guys some nice, pretty high quality 3D
[04:34] models. Uh, I have a couple artists.
[04:36] This is Janomu, Jay Jenomu. They
[04:38] actually made my first ever 3D model
[04:40] back when I started out Vubing in around
[04:42] 2020, 2021. I can't remember exactly
[04:45] when, but they've made a a bunch of
[04:47] very, very amazing uh 3D models. Here's
[04:49] another one, Mari. Uh, they have worked
[04:52] with actually many, many big creators.
[04:54] And again, this is not exactly a budget
[04:56] friendly model. They're probably going
[04:57] to cost a lot more, but usually 3D
[05:00] models tend to cost a bit [music] less
[05:02] than 2D models. Not because they're
[05:04] easier, per se, but there's usually less
[05:06] layering because it's 3D mesh, but
[05:08] again, it depends on who. And of course,
[05:10] you can search on VGEN for 3D models.
[05:13] There are also many 3D models to choose
[05:15] from on Booth as well. And yeah, there's
[05:17] lots of options if you just know where
[05:19] to look and put in the time and
[05:21] research. Lastly, I will cover the let's
[05:24] say 5,000 plus. Now, this is for the
[05:27] oilers out there, the the people who
[05:29] just want to get the best of the best,
[05:31] crazy high quality. Now, this is just
[05:34] one example that I'm showing you, but
[05:36] there are artists who are in high
[05:37] demand, obviously, because their work is
[05:39] amazing. Here's one artist, Camo Chiru.
[05:41] They are an amazing VTuber model artist.
[05:43] They have worked with many, many people.
[05:45] They have a crazy art style and they are
[05:49] amazing. However, this is not a budget
[05:51] friendly model. If you work with them, I
[05:53] I won't say their prices because it
[05:55] depends on the complexity, but their
[05:57] base prices themselves are pretty high
[05:59] compared to others, but that's because
[06:01] you're getting something that's in high
[06:03] demand, and their art style is very
[06:05] unique and amazing, and many people want
[06:07] it. With price comes demand type thing.
[06:09] Now, with the rigger, this is just one
[06:10] example. This is actually my rigger, the
[06:12] person who rigged my current model that
[06:13] I'm using, Koma. [music]
[06:15] As you can see, their rigging is
[06:17] insanely insanely good. This is a 2D
[06:20] model we're looking at right now. But
[06:22] look, it looks so 3D. That's because he
[06:24] puts countless hours [music] and works
[06:27] so hard and actually has gotten awards
[06:29] from Live 2D for his work. But of
[06:31] course, this is going to cost you more
[06:33] than the average rig. And that's because
[06:35] you're getting a higher quality product.
[06:37] It's like any other job. You get what
[06:39] you pay for. You know what I mean? And
[06:40] that isn't to take away from other
[06:42] people. There are many upandcoming
[06:43] riggers that you can choose from, and
[06:44] there are many artists that you can
[06:46] choose from. I'm just showing you two
[06:47] examples just to show you what you can
[06:49] get if you really want and have the
[06:51] budget for it. You might be wondering
[06:53] how come some Vtuber models are so
[06:55] expensive. Well, this is actually very
[06:56] simple. Getting a VTuber model is not as
[06:58] simple as just drawing a thing and it
[07:00] moves. When creating a VTuber model, an
[07:03] artist [music] has to draw your entire
[07:04] model, right? They have to also draw all
[07:06] of the assets for it, the toggles that
[07:08] you want and the outfits. And then they
[07:10] [music] have to cut up the to the model
[07:13] because it's not just a flat like PNG.
[07:15] They have to cut it up to prepare it for
[07:17] the rigger who rigs it and makes it move
[07:20] [music] like this. And then the rigger
[07:22] has to rig every little part of your
[07:24] body, every little layer. And [music]
[07:26] that takes many, many, many, many, many
[07:29] months depending on how complex your
[07:31] model is. My model, for example, took
[07:33] over 2 years to make between the art and
[07:36] then the rig and then testing it and
[07:38] fixing bugs. It's a long process and
[07:40] that's why it can get so expensive. But
[07:42] that does not mean that there are not
[07:44] budget friendly options [music] out
[07:45] there. You just have to look. As for
[07:47] what software that you'll need, it
[07:49] depends on if you want to be 3D, 2D, or
[07:51] a PNG tuber. If you want to be 3D, I
[07:53] would recommend Warudo, which is on
[07:55] Steam. If you want to be 2D, I would
[07:57] recommend VTube Studio, which is
[07:59] actually on Steam as well. And then if
[08:00] you want to be a PNG tuber, I would
[08:02] recommend Discord Reactive or Fugite
[08:05] Tech, whichever you would prefer, cuz
[08:06] that's just a browser source that you
[08:08] put on your OBS. Something to mention
[08:10] for 2D models on V Studio specifically
[08:13] is there's actually different qualities
[08:15] of tracking that you can get for your
[08:16] face and mouth. For example, I'll show
[08:18] you a regular version of tracking. This
[08:21] is the default tracking that you can get
[08:23] for a mouth on V Studio. Normal
[08:26] tracking. This is actually my old model.
[08:28] Uh, as you can see, it's not very
[08:30] precise with [music] how it follows my
[08:32] mouth, but you know, it it's it was good
[08:34] for the time, and it's totally fine if
[08:36] you want to do this starting out. But
[08:38] there is this new tracking [music]
[08:39] called Vbridger tracking. What it does
[08:42] is it uses the infrared sensors and the
[08:44] front camera on iPhones 10 and above
[08:47] iPhone X and it enables you to do very
[08:50] specific mouth movements like see I it's
[08:55] very precise as you can see if you like
[08:58] like wow hello
[09:03] you know what I mean it's very precise
[09:05] this is called vbrger rigging rigging it
[09:07] usually cost a bit more and [music] you
[09:11] Well, understandably so because it's
[09:12] better, but it's totally optional. You
[09:14] don't need it, especially if you're just
[09:16] starting out. [music] In the future,
[09:17] though, if you upgrade your model or get
[09:19] a new one, I really recommend looking
[09:21] into it. The two ways that you can get
[09:23] this rigging is with two apps on Steam.
[09:26] One is called Vridger, which is the, you
[09:28] know, Verger rigging. Works with
[09:30] Vridger. There's another app called
[09:32] Vitamins, which is a Japanese version
[09:34] that's also free. That's the one that I
[09:36] use. just personal preference, but
[09:38] whatever your rigger is more comfortable
[09:40] rigging for is probably your best bet.
[09:42] Hopefully, this helps you get started on
[09:44] your VTuber journey. If you have any
[09:45] questions, please feel free to come to
[09:47] my streams at twitch.tv/sens
[09:49] or leave a comment below and I'll try to
[09:51] get to it as soon as possible. Good luck
[09:53] being a VTuber. Welcome to hell.
