This video provides a comprehensive guide on how to add personalization to print on demand products using Printify and Etsy. The creator demonstrates the process of researching trending personalized products, setting up a personalized design in Printify, and managing customer personalization orders, highlighting the importance of personalization for Etsy's gift-giving audience.
Personalization on Etsy is crucial because it's a gift-giving platform, and personalized products see skyrocketing sales. By toggling a simple feature, sellers can offer customers the ability to add names, photos, or dates to their designs.
Personalization allows customers to add a name, photo, date, or other customization to an existing print on demand design. Printify offers personalization on most products, and it can be added to existing designs.
Use Printify's product recommendations and Etsy search to find trending personalized products in your niche. For example, searching 'personalized book gifts' reveals a market with around $329,000 monthly revenue, indicating high demand.
The Profit Tree Chrome extension provides valuable data on Etsy listings, such as monthly revenue, sales count, and recent views. This helps identify bestsellers and in-demand products for personalization.
A custom journal with a name on it is a bestselling product for 'personalized book gifts', earning around $2,000 a month with 66 monthly sales. It has many favorites and recent views, indicating strong demand.
In Printify, select a product (e.g., a journal) and start designing. Add your design as usual, then use the 'Personalizable text' option to add a text field that customers can customize.
For personalizable text, you can change font, spacing, color, etc. It's important to use placeholder text (like your name) instead of 'print it your way' to comply with Etsy's guidelines and show customers where personalization goes.
You can add multiple personalizable text layers (e.g., name and date). Name the layers clearly to help Printify's AI understand the context, and set character limits if needed.
After publishing, the listing includes a link for customers to preview and personalize the product. They can change the text and see a live preview, then copy a code to paste back into Etsy.
The customer sees a personalization section on the Etsy listing, clicks the link, customizes the design (e.g., changing the name to 'Anna'), and copies the generated code back to Etsy.
When a personalized order comes in, it appears as 'needs review' in Printify. You must review the personalization to ensure it's correct (no typos) before approving it for production.
After reviewing, approve the order, and it moves to production. This process ensures accuracy and prevents printing errors.
Add personalization to existing designs, use the word 'personalized' in SEO, and consider using Profit Tree for data insights. Printify offers a course and premium code for further learning.
Adding personalization to print on demand products on Etsy is a powerful way to boost sales, especially for gift items. By using Printify's personalization features and conducting proper research, sellers can easily offer customized products and manage orders efficiently.

11:51[00:01] welcome back to my channel. Today I'm going to show you all you need to know about Etsy personalization with print on demand in 2026. [music] And this is really exciting video to make because we have had so many incredible updates with
[00:15] print on demand and with personalization especially on Etsy that I'm so excited to share. And what's really cool, if you're not aware, is that Etsy being a giftgiving platform, sales for personalization [music] completely
[00:28] skyrocket. So many people want to personalize their products. And by simply toggling something on, you can offer a really incredible thing for your that you absolutely should be offering on your Etsy shop. So, this is exactly
[00:42] how to do it. So, recap quickly on personalization. Essentially, what it means is that your customer can add in either a name, a photo, a date, any sort of customization to your already standing print on demand design [music]
[00:56] in order to personalize it. So, Printify actually offers personalization on most cuz you just add it to your existing design if you want to. And on Printify, and see what products they recommend, see what products are trending and are,
[01:11] you know, most likely personalized to give you an idea of what to sell on your store. I also recommend going over to Etsy and doing a scroll to see what's already selling in your niche for personalized products. This way, you
[01:23] have a better idea of what people want and can list it for them so that you're more apt to get a sale, especially with the personalized products. Now, a really popular and trending niche on Etsy right now is books. So, bookish, book lover
[01:36] with, you know, reading a book and giving gifts for people who like to read books and are in that community. I went ahead and typed in personalized book. gifts. And that shows me that there's people searching for that. And I'm just
[01:50] going to do a scroll and see best sellers and popular. Now, what's also interesting here is I do have my Profit Tree Chrome extension on here that shows me that the monthly revenue for the term personalized book gifts is around
[02:02] $329,000. Meaning that there's people spending for And so, whatever your niche is, I would recommend typing in personalized blank and seeing what comes up or personalized blank gifts again, seeing what comes up
[02:17] and what has these popular now and bestselling badges. Now, I'm going to sellers in this and maybe a product that I can contribute to the market. Also, you may be noticing that I do have some data that's showing up again underneath
[02:31] is also the Profit Tree Chrome extension. And if you're not familiar way to get data. It's a Chrome extension, a data researcher for Etsy, and then also a profit tracker. I've
[02:44] really loving it because it has so many really great features. So, as I scroll extension, automatically tells me a lot about the listings. For example, after scrolling a bit, lines I never want to forget. This right here is a listing
[02:59] that is bestselling for this search term. Um, it's a journal that is essentially custom, meaning that the person would include their name on it. So, lines I never want to forget by and then you would get this for someone. So,
[03:12] the aspect of personalization right there. And right under it, I can tell with Profit Tree that the monthly sales it has are around 66. It's doing around $2,000 a month in revenue. It's made $24,000 a month in the only 9 months
[03:26] that it's been on Etsy. So, it's a newer product and it's selling really well. It has a lot of favorites and also some more key things that I like about using have viewed this in the last 24 hours, showing that it is in demand. Also
[03:39] been purchased. So, it's been purchased more than once in the last 24 hours. and that over 20 people have put it in the cart in the last 24 hours. So, I really that. It shows you exactly what you need to see. [music] There's also this
[03:52] blanket here that is a print on demand blanket. It's a newer listing on Etsy it. I'm not seeing any purchases for it, so that's interesting. It must be newly being purchased because it does have that bestseller badge from Etsy. So,
[04:07] create and also a print on demand product that can be personalized. And if I even wanted to type in personalized book gifts in here under the product finder, there's a lot of information that will pop up for me too. This kind
[04:20] of organizes it to see, you know, what's really selling in just a list right in than scroll on Etsy, and you can see like custom leather birthflower journals, so a custom birthflower journal, a personalized backpack for
[04:33] books, so on and so forth. And again, just seeing that data and how many times trending products and knowing what to sell, especially if you're not getting products and grow your Etsy shop. I will
[04:46] description below. They do have a really great promotion going on right now. It's only $67 to sign up and get access to the features that you see here. So, of and it will be in the description. So, now that I've done my research, I'm
[04:59] going to go over to Printify, choose my product, and then show you how to upload Printify, I'm going to search for a journal because that was the product that I was seeing coming up for my specific niche and seemed to be selling
[05:12] hardcover matte journal. I just did a video on my favorite print on demand products and that will be uploaded soon and it will be in the description if you go ahead and click start designing per usual because this is pretty much done
[05:27] the same way. We're just going to add in one line that will be our personalized line. Okay. So, what I'm going to do is just add my design like normal. I do have this design that I made in KD. It just says my silly little manifestation
[05:40] other journal that was selling really well just had one line and then had a name under it or a date under it. So, that's what I'm trying to portray. Again, taking in the research that I did, but also adding something that has
[05:53] my own unique flare to it. And then here's where our personalized situation is going to come in. Okay. So, on the left side on Printify, you will see to click that and what's going to come up is two options. Excuse me.
[06:07] Personalizable text and personalizable image as they sound. This is essentially the option to personalize this product. [music] So, I'm going to select personalized text and I'm going to put in the personalized text of where it
[06:21] a customer's perspective. Up on the top left, you can change your font here. You can even upload a custom font if you want to. And you can also do all the normal stuff for text such as spacing, italicize, bold, and change your font
[06:34] color if you'd like to. I'm going to choose a font here that goes along with the design that I already have. Perfect. And now, instead of leaving print it your way, this is not allowed on Etsy for mockups. In order to showcase where
[06:47] your customer's personalization will go, you do want to put an example rather than your text here or custom text because it's just better perceived that way on Etsy and goes along with their guidelines. So, I'm going to go ahead
[07:01] and type in the placeholder text, which would be just my name, I guess, or if it was a date, it would be there. So, I'm going to type my name and then just get it to how I want it. Okay. Okay. Or maybe it wants to be up here. However
[07:16] that's personalized. Another option for this is that it could be on the back of the journal and say Michaela's manifestations. That's super cute, too. Again, just really depends on however you want it to
[07:30] personalization would go. And then I'm just going to change the color to a pink here. I'm just using the eyropper. Okay, perfect. And then just make it a little bit darker. Okay. And then we can go
[07:44] ahead and preview our design. Looks good. Looks centered. Let's take a look at the back. Okay, perfect. That's where the [music] person's um personalization actually want to add one more personalization to the front of this. I
[07:58] do a date [music] for like the year cuz it is the new year. So I'm going to do another personalized text. And then I'm going to do my font again. I don't want to change the font to something a little bit different. Okay. Okay. And then now
[08:14] over here you can see what's going on. So on the right side [music] we have a few things. I have the design that I brought in that cannot be changed or edited by the customer. But these that are rainbow around text one and text
[08:26] two. These can [music] be changed by the customer. So this overall design of my silent manifestation journal cannot be changed. But the one that I'm asking for their personalization can. I'm just going to name my layers here. So this is
[08:39] date [music] and then this is name. If you do want to give your customer an option for character limits, that can be done as well. Um, totally up to you. But name, it's usually okay. But for this one, because it's a date, I can say they
[08:52] that's the date, so they understand. [music] So on and so forth. Okay, preview one last time. Let's see how it looks. Looks beautiful. Now I'm going to to upload this as usual. Okay. So now when I go down, there is this thing that
[09:06] says personalization. that gives you what's going to happen when the customer sees their listing. Right? So, here there's going to be a link and that's going to be where the customer can actually preview and do their own
[09:18] personalization themselves. This is, like I said, the huge update that's show you that in just a moment. But before I do that, I'm just going to go please add the date that you would like to see on the design. Printifyy's AI
[09:32] that. But I do feel that naming those layers back when we did that does help the AI to know what's going on. And then also please add the name you would like to see on the and then I'm just going to customize this back of the design along
[09:47] customize this back of the design along with manifestations. Okay. So if they want it to say manifestations, it would have to be. And didn't go over that. You would just upload the image and then the customer's
[09:59] see. So [music] it kind of works the same. Then if you scroll down, it says link below and personalize your product. After personalizing, copy the code into your personalization code. So [music] this again, really, really great. And
[10:14] and publish the product as normal. And then I'll show you what that looks like. on Etsy. And while it's still working itself out and uploading our photos, I'm just going to click view on Etsy to show you what this looks like. So, this is
[10:28] customer was about to purchase and see their journal. Right. So, in the says personalization, it tells the customer to copy that code. I'm going to looks like. Okay. So, it's going to give a customer a screen like this. They're
[10:43] And then here's where they can add in their personalization. So, here, let's say someone else's name. So, let's do Anna. Anna's manifestations. [music] changed out the text from Michaela and then whatever you put it here. So Bella
[10:59] [music] Bella's perfect. So see how they're able So let's say they don't even want manifestations. They want Bella's thought journal [music] that shows up as well um on here and so
[11:12] on and so forth. Same with the front. If they want to change the date, obviously it's 2026, but just to show you that will also pop up for them to see and get a preview of. So, what they'll do is they will do their [music]
[11:25] journal and their design exactly like this of how exactly they want it. And then they'll hit continue, save design, and then it's going to give them a code. So, all they have to do is hit copy [music] code, go back over to Etsy and
[11:38] put the code here, and then when this customer makes a purchase, that code is going to go directly over to Printify where we will see exactly what they did in their personalization, and be able to approve it and then Printify will start
[11:51] went ahead and made a change on this and I'm going to order it and show you what Printify account. So, when you get an order on your personalized listing, it's but it's going to show up as it needs review. So, just so you know, anytime
[12:06] from your store done the way that we just did in that upload process, you it to production on Printify. This doesn't mean you have to change anything around or mess with the design. It just means we need to make sure that the
[12:19] customer typed in the right information, didn't make any typos, that everything sent to Printify will be printed. And so we want to make sure it's correct so the issues with their order. So I'll show you what that looks like here under your
[12:32] orders tab. It will show up again like I said as something that requires action. You'll select the order and there'll be a button that says review. Once you click review, you'll be able to see what exactly the customer is going to be
[12:44] doing with their personalization. For this, I just changed Michaela to Mac. So what it would look like. And once I see that it looks good, it looks correct. personalization here. Then now I just approve that. And once that's done, it's
[12:57] going to be approved by you and then sent into production under pending. Now I will say if you just watch this through to definitely add personalized listings to your store, now you know how it works. Now you know how much easier
[13:09] it is and how it used to be. Again, thanking the POD gods and Printify for that because it's it's such a great update. And also again to make sure that you're doing your research to know what products you should personalize. And as
[13:21] you saw, you can take an already made design that's in your store and create a on that product. Maybe there's something that you've been asked if you offer a personalization. Maybe you have some mugs or glass cups on your store that
[13:34] always a good idea to take the designs you already have, add the design, and see how it works on Etsy with the word personalized in your SEO. personalized products cuz customers expect that. And if you did see me using
[13:48] it's something that you want to give a try, I do highly recommend it. I've been using it a ton lately and I absolutely love the features. They're very cool and Chrome extension features. So, I have been dabbling and using it a lot and I
[14:01] do recommend it not only for the features, but also it does have live that can really help with profit versus revenue when we're doing print on demand along with Printify, which they have all those personalization picks on there.
[14:13] um on Printify. You can design as many as you'd like and I will have that course along with a code for Printify Premium. Thank you so so much for products to your store and hope this video was helpful. Make sure to leave a
[14:27] video was helpful. Make sure to leave a like or comment if it was.
