Dropshipping in Ecuador: Step-by-Step Guide & Transcript

[00:54] videos for your support. And well, let 's begin. And first it is very important that we understand what dropshipping is in Latin America, since most people tend to think that it is the same dropshipping that has been known

[01:07] all along, that it is done from China and the shipping times are super long. It does completely different and I'm going to explain it to you very simply. It's also important to know that you can implement this model even if you don't live in the country where you

[01:21] want to sell, for example. And this gives you many advantages because you can leverage stronger currencies. For example, we are almost reaching $3,000 in sales in Ecuador alone, and we live in

[01:34] Colombia. In fact, we've already been number one in sales in Ecuador and we're not even living in that country. We know many people who are from Uruguay, are from Paraguay, and sell in Ecuador. Uh, there are also people who

[01:48] live in Colombia and sell in Guatemala, which is an excellent country to sell in, or in Mexico too, which, by the way, is working very well for live in that country, you can still implement this same model. Now, let's suppose that

[02:02] this person here is you and you want to start selling products online. So, the best thing to do at the beginning, when you're learning, is not to invest a large amount, especially in a product that you don't know if it will sell

[02:15] well or not, because you don't yet have the skills to know how to sell that product, nor do you even know if the product sells well, if there is demand for it. So, the right thing to do would be to start small, as with everything, as with

[02:28] all businesses. So, what you're going to do is leverage a warehouse that already has the product, has already made the investment, and that warehouse is going to provide you with the product so that you can sell it. So, you take images of the product

[02:40] and publish them on your website or on some sales channel or even on WhatsApp, on your Instagram account, on your Facebook account, you upload stories. There are many ways you can showcase that product to people.

[02:52] So, you show that product and people who are interested will come and leave their information so you can ship the product to them. What generates the sale is the trust you convey to people by allowing them to

[03:06] pay upon receipt, since this was not normally done. What usually happens is that people enter the website, leave their information, make the payment, and then you ship the product to them, but they have already paid.

[03:21] So, by giving them the option to pay for the product when it objections that most customers have who don't want to leave their information or don't trust some stores. Then, it becomes much

[03:35] easier to sell. Even now that we're launching our first brands, we 've realized that when you're going to launch a brand, the best thing you can do is start with cash on delivery to position it, since this will

[03:48] allow you to invest much more money in advertising, make it easier for people to get to know your product, faster, and then when the brand is positioned, you can start charging in advance. Then,

[04:00] people leave their information with you and you ship the product to them. Well, you don't dispatch them, you put that data that the person left you into the platform. Well, everything is automatic. This data is passed to the platform, and the supplier sees

[04:14] the data and ships the product to the customer. So, the carrier picks it up, takes it to the customer, the customer pays, and the carrier goes and delivers the money to the

[04:30] platform, which in this case we use Dropy, but there are many other function. We use Dropy because it works best for us. But there are many other platforms. There are also other people who tell me

[04:43] as if I worked for Dropy, asking why I promote Dropy, saying that Dropy is bad. Well, no, I actually recommend what I use, and this platform is the one I recommend it, but I don't work for Dropy, I'm not associated

[04:57] with them or anything like that. So, Dropy receives the money and pays you your commission, pays the carrier for the freight, and pays the supplier the value

[05:09] of the product. That's how it would work; this supplier here wouldn't be Chinese, it would be a local supplier. Dropy works with local suppliers. What does it mean? that delivery times to the end customer will be much shorter because the

[05:23] supplier is often already in the same city or at least in the same country . Therefore, delivery times are much shorter than with traditional dropshipping, where shipments are made directly from China.

[05:37] So the customer wins because they can pay upon delivery and have that confidence, and because the product will arrive in three to five business days, unlike other models where the shipping time is much longer, and you

[05:50] also win because you receive a commission for each sale. Now, ideally, own merchandise later on, so you don't depend on a third party, but you'll only do this when you've mastered the skills, know how to find products,

[06:04] know how to sell them, know how to scale them, and know how to manage logistics, because this also needs to be learned. So, to begin with, this is the best way: using a winery or supplier that has already made the investment for you, and you

[06:16] simply focus on selling, becoming a sales expert. And why do I recommend starting in countries like Ecuador, Guatemala, or Mexico, which are emerging in cash- on-delivery payments? Even though Mexico may be advanced

[06:30] in prepayment, cash-on-delivery payments are just starting in these countries, and I mainly recommend it for two reasons. The first and biggest problem is competition, because in countries like Colombia, where

[06:45] cash payments are much more advanced, it becomes much harder to sell, and the products also last less time. When a product lasts you a month in Colombia, in Ecuador, Mexico, or other countries that are just

[06:58] starting out, it can last you 3, 4 , or 5 months with the same effort you put into it in Colombia. And the second reason is because of the currency, because we have currencies that are much stronger than, for example, ours in Colombia, which

[07:11] are the Colombian pesos. Or if you're in Argentina or Uruguay or Paraguay, weaker than the dollar. In other words, they're not bad, but the dollar is much stronger. So, of course, this allows you to be much more profitable with each sale.

[07:25] Let's say that in Colombia you are earning 3 on each order and you sell 1000 orders in a month, then you would have $3,000 a month. Whereas in Ecuador, if you only earn $2 more per order, then multiply $5 per order by

[07:40] 1000, that's $5,000 per month. It's almost double that of Ecuador. Even we in Ecuador have had products that we earn more than $10 per sale. Besides, these countries are just starting to become trendy, and we

[07:54] can arrive, take advantage, capitalize, and when the country has already reached its peak or when it is more advanced or saturated, as call it, although this business will never be saturated for me, but let's say when it

[08:08] is more advanced, you will have already built your company, you will have built your brands and you will have already capitalized a lot. And I'm also going to show you why making a living from this business is actually very easy. For example,

[08:21] in Latin America an average salary is between 500 and 600 because the minimum wage is more or less $450. Now, if you want to earn double that amount, which is enough to live well, let's divide those $1,000 by 30 days, which means we

[08:37] would have to earn $34 per day. If we earn $5 on each sale, dividing earn $5 on each sale, dividing those $34 by $5 per sale, we find that we would need to have seven orders per day. And you can easily achieve these seven orders

[08:52] with just one product. We have had products that have sold up to 150 sales per day. Only in Ecuador; in Colombia, you can scale a single product to 300 daily sales, or even more than that.

[13:39] keywords related to the sale of physical products in the search bar. So, the most common one is free shipping, but I don't recommend searching with this keyword, because everyone searches with this word. So,

[13:53] look for words related to selling products, but not necessarily free shipping. You can search for, for example, pay on delivery, which is also very common. You can search for, for example, "offer". So, let's look,

[14:05] for example, at the word offer. And here we're going to put filters. Let's go back up to here we're going to put filters. Let's go back up to a week. So, to set it to show me ads until June 1st. And what this

[14:20] will do is guarantee that all the ads I'm going to see are from companies that have been running them for a while, and if they've been running for a while, it means that these companies are getting paid. I'm going

[14:33] important we have to do is sort by most recent here, because if we leave it on default, the library will show us the ads with the most impressions, but these aren't necessarily the ones that

[14:47] will work best for us, because these ads may have been active for a long time and if we launch those products, they simply won't work for us because the store that launched them is already more optimized and

[16:07] sold out. This one has 31. But when this happens it's because the supplier sold the stock and sets this price to ship it directly to the person who bought it, but it doesn't mean that they are giving it to us at this price. If

[16:20] we start selling the product at this price, it's possible that the and we'll be left with those sales. So, what do I recommend to you? that you filter, for example, by lowest price or that you put, for example, the
