How to Start a Business During the Pandemic

everybody today we wanted to talk us a little bit differently than what we usually do these are very different times for all of us there will be no talk whatsoever in this video about the paper shortages or all stuff you keep hearing on the media we've got a very different message that I think it's extremely applicable to all of you who are looking at starting a new business in these times your situation may have taught you

that you have a lot less control than you thought you did and so at this point you have a couple of choices you can make you can either complain about their own stance you can hold up or toilet paper look and read your people after articles things you already know or you can take advantage the opportunity in front of you and you can take back control and and that's what we're talking about here is learning how

to take control of our lives and blatant offense in troubling times rather than holding up complain defense okay so let's talk about what exactly that looks like so most of us right now either we have money we can contribute to the economy by investing and stocks are on freaking sale right now you know right people who have licked cashy you want to be really smart about you invest how you invest and don't be responsible whatsoever because

it's a very unknown time but it's also a time where stocks are on for a king saying I got a whole bunch of Norwegians Norwegian cruise lines this morning because it's trading at 1/5 of what it usually is and so people who in 2008 took advantage of those things were the people who helped our economy to start growing again they were the ones they were helping us get out by doing that and then the the second

thing is we a lot of us have time right now we have time that we can start something new to grow this economy exactly and so if I have time like what do I do at that time if you're if you're watching this channel if you're watching this live and you know you're familiar with us you you know that we're gonna get to work right get to work on your blog to work on your YouTube channel

how specifically but specifically in the project 24 intern project 24 membership we have spent the month of March we didn't know this pandemic but we do this once or twice a year we do a Content warrior challenge the content warrior challenge is it's a challenge for members who sign up to create content 60,000 words worth of content in one month and we don't see they'll do it every single one they do it's so cool the we've

had 200 people sign up that are part in project 24 right now but our part of the content where you're challenged and just those 200 people have written over a million words of content in the last week right so right now you're not going out to restaurants you don't have a college going on you don't have so many things there for a lot of us even if your job is unaffected maybe there is time now that's

like hey I've been using this to actually do something that the next time something happens I'm more secure because I took advantage of the time I had exactly so if you're in a situation where you have just been slammed up against the wall and realized I don't have control over income I don't have control over a lot of aspects of my life because I can't control my time and income let's use this as an opportunity I

know there are so many people in the world today we're going through a very hard time they're laid off from or just have hours that right there are many people who are sick who we're dealing with death of loved ones it's a hard time and we want to we're not going to make light of that in any way and we shouldn't well what we do think and what we what we know to be true is that

we can contribute to our communities to our economy and turn this thing around economically the only way we do that is by playing office and so I know that seems kind of crazy like okay so if I sit home and write blog posts it will grow the economy and if we have enough of us doing this in addition to all of the many other entrepreneurial people who are out there like us like you who are making

things happen you will help us turn around this economy and be able to come out of this really really sad pandemic a sad situation that we're in and and not have our company's completely destiny is for years to come if that's what it takes so that's where what it might look like if you're starting a blog let's talk about what it might look like if you're launching a YouTube channel so this is a concept that we're

working really hard on right now I'd income school and we're really excited about it well what we've heard from you all is as we've talked about go create a YouTube it's the best opportunity in internet marketing right now as we talk about that we heard a lot of you say you know what was attractive to me about blocking is you saw all of our case studies where we wrote a batch of content a bunch of blog

posts put them up there left for a while came back and it had traffic and we could start monetizing it was attractive to me that's what we kept hearing and then people say I don't want to do YouTube because that's the office you can't gotta make a video of a weekend stuff and Rick and I have worked on like how what would that look like so we're launching a new YouTube channel called margin it's a personal

finance channel and we've been talking about it for a while and we just said you know what let's just launch this right now and so we're launching the first videos like next week the first videos are coming out and we just said hey you got 15 minutes between meetings Ricky great let's go make another video oh I got an extra hour I'm gonna go make five videos in a row turn the camera on and start talking

right it's a topic we know and we can just talk about and so we're making 52 videos in like a few weeks and then we're just gonna release them on a set schedule and it's incredible like you know your wife and kids are out of town for a weekend and you can go just have a full Saturday to do something go make a whole YouTube channel like a year's worth of content it's awesome so we're gonna

do this on start of April we have a day picked anyway we'll eat everyone in the house five of us or each one to make a separate YouTube channel with 52 videos on each one and 24 24 hours recording all of it that's the opportunity you can do even if it's whenever an hour a day but for the next month I got that extra I work from just I'm not going out right now because of you

know we're all kind of locked in it's an incredible time to be building that okay so we talked about like how we would take advantage of this we want to also get to the disome question we have some great questions coming I know a lot of you are wanting to start and have questions about doing it and we don't do enough of these kind of FAQ time so we're gonna start looking here on the life or

some of your questions and alright our chat is not any - okay try your computer are you getting that yeah you have questions were sorry everybody this is really awesome which is crazy because we have superfast internet here alright here we go oh this is good so James vlog says Pat check it media yep those guys are bloggers and are not very good at YouTube I love this for your reasons YouTube is our blogging is kind

of what we've been before um income school as a business that we have grown on YouTube this is where our primary audiences we just released a case study on Monday of the new YouTube channel we started from scratch without over our existing audience and that channel about to 9000 subscribers in four months as we have been known mostly for blogging but YouTube is something that over the last few years has given us incredible results it's something

we're producing the content every freakin day and it's something our businesses move more and more to and we've been really encouraging twenty-four members to get in on the game so I love that that guys just kind of be an insurer to people on the internet but yeah our business actually reads been an incredible amount on type time making video content okay okay would you recommend income school techniques for a nonprofit organization website yeah I mean it's

the same kind of things that we're giving you can apply to a local business a non-profit there's a lot you can do usually just requires little tweaks and the real question is like do you want to drive organic search traffic to your website if the answer is yes then yes these techniques will work for you Erik Erikson gamer says how much do I have to post on a regular basis so for YouTube I don't like seeing

a tunnel going more than seven days without a video but you can sketch you can create a batch if it isn't scheduled out over time we don't really do that on income school on our other channels we do that a lot we did that this case study we did it we're doing that right now with another one we're doing with margin you can definitely batch it with the blog you don't really need posts regularly as long

as your topics are ever agreed and so knowledge and experience with restaurant management awesome but he's concerned that all the SEO tools aren't showing search volume what should he do well we ignore the search tools the reason why is that the search tools are relying upon an extremely limited data set that extrapolates and guesses at what actual search volume is and so we don't trust the search boy what we will do is use methods we teach

our youtube channel all the time using Google to auto suggest to stuff you know type in part of the searches what does Google autofill those are the top searches in that industry and from there all you can do is go start creating content and see how much traffic comes in that's really the only way to measure search volume is to actually go win that search and see how many people came in if something shows up in

the Google auto suggests and you like you typed in less than maybe 20% of the search and it autofill direct there's luckily enough search volume that is absolutely worth creating the content so don't worry too much about what the search volume says all right tea sorts asking what other stocks that I bought this morning so I bought in Norwegian I bought Royal Caribbean cruise line and also United Airlines all travel industry yes so my strategy for

investing during this time is I'm putting the bulk of my money just in index funds that's always kind of my strategy so I'd always do the whole the SMB has just crashed and so that's a pretty darn reliable way to invest as an index fund it's like about the safest thing you can do and expect in return but then I'm taking a portion of the money and put it in a more speculative investment because of the

unique time that we're in and putting it in some of these companies that I think are on solid financial swing going forward and have a good business but just right now for the next six months year they're not gonna do well and I'm that's okay I'll write it out for two years the chances are very good that they build back up to once they went once were and even if they build a half I'm still doing

it was interesting because we were looking around its box and stuff that we could be interested in a lot of the websites that talk to you about stock picks are looking at which ones are likely to do well right now Gilead right they're producing a test for coronavirus and so great Gilead is doing great today it's like yeah but on the other hand you've got a Norwegian who's treating it about a fifth the price that they

have been stable at for about five years and a third of their five-year low is where they're currently trading I mean that is a tremendous opportunity so and again my investing in these companies you do actually stimulate the economy Oscar a stage says what do you think about creating many small niche sites and leaving them having around 10 or 15 sites for example with five articles each I can say pretty definitively that's a bad strategy a

lot of things can work that one's probably a bad idea five articles is too small to start generating that limp velocity to grow could you do this at 3040 verticals yes but only if you're really good at search analysis and writing that you know you're gonna have some winners in there most people need a little bit more wiggle room to make sure they get some winners to get that site growing and so it's not a strategy

that we recommend in project 24 we used to recommend start one site 30 articles immediately start a second one but down 1 to 30 articles then see which one's performing that you move along with when we changed our recommendation to just pick right pick one site and focus on one thing we started to see a significant increase in our project 24 member success rate and so that's our recommendation build the site build one build it to

success when you're there fine let's talk about another one the question here is 10 minutes the best minimum video link that's honestly it's just an append a lot on the topics of your videos there it might make sense in some situations to make a 4-minute video I do think that most of the time longer videos we shoot for usually about 10 to 12 minutes than a YouTube video on the income school YouTube channel sure watch times

don't really pull google's are YouTube's algorithm very much YouTube cares all about watch time and a two minute video it's funny because people will watch like about the same percentage of a video like I find someone who watches three-quarters of the video I'll watch about three-quarters of the video whether it's two minutes long or twelve minutes long and so as long as the topic is such that you can fill it with content I usually mention it

to mark but I'm not gonna set it for a minimum at ten but it really doesn't make sense to throw something out there that's four or five minutes sold dump photography says does project 24 work for mom bloggers obviously a more narrow nature but along those lines absolutely in fact we are definitely guilty of not talking about the I the mom blog niche just parenting things that especially appeals to women were both dudes and sometimes we

have a hard time thinking of suspects yeah those topics as examples we have tons of members of project 24 we're definitely succeeding in that kind of space and the principles are the exact same whereas the best about giving examples that way what Nisha's apart from prepping would you consider to be apocalypse birth you know it really depends on the type of parkland because pandemic wasn't really one that was on the forefront of my mind and so

you know if I'm in the medical space right now and I'm succeeding in a couple space doing really really really well in terms of traffic whereas if we're talking about an economic crash stock markets going crazy depression kind of thing medical stocks aren't permanent socks medical sites speaking about stocks yeah the medical sites are probably not going to do any better than usual I would say that we've been really successful with a lot of hobby sites

in a real apocalyptic scenario probably not gonna do well but right now when people are stuck apfel with nothing to do hobby based sites actually could be doing really well and so you need to just think through that for yourself I'm not going to make a decision about whether or not to build a website based on which apocalypse I think he's likely to happen I'm just gonna do for welcome what's going on in the in the

near term in the foreseeable future and I'm creating my business based upon that okay we've had several questions that I think are kind of quick ones hey um how bad do you think actor revenue will get through the crisis pretty bad I don't really I think it's not gonna be a good time for a dress over the next several months I think we're gonna see many months of lasting financial things there are a lot of businesses

shut down big business isn't it will impact the economy of this year it's just we just know it will I don't think that's even in question anymore a few weeks ago this look like yeah whatever it's gonna be here today gone tomorrow and now we also yeah revenue for a little while and so some people are gonna play defense and say it's not working other people are gonna be often City I'm gonna spend time growing traffic

right now because the economy is gonna come back and I'm gonna be yep my videos are doing well if they're three to five minutes it's really about if you are getting good info out yeah I think that but I also think it depends a little bit on on presentation and so do do well at different times some of our very highest videos are most views not just watched I've used like an hour long I mean it's

something that we should all try if you think nobody will watch it they will if you're giving good information should I send my readers over to my youtube channel in the article at the end not at all I can give a very this a little bit from post to post well many times probably just embed the appropriate video for the content I'll probably a better write it in post and make that my website as helpful as

possible if somebody from the website to the YouTube channel first of all that's not as common as the other way around I kind of want them on the web the website is where I have the opportunity to you know gain revenue from them and particularly make a sale affiliate commission those things and so keeping them on the website it's probably better but embedding that video in the in the blog post to add value to the blog

post so that's probably the what I'm good to do it most of the time I have a question here I think most youtubers would skip over but I want to address head on what percentage of project 24 members are earning a full-time income that number is low and but the percentage of project 24 members for 16 is quite high so that's for a few reasons one project from Ford just hit two years old no it's not

even yet it's like learning first okay you you're a few weeks ago it finally hit 2 years old and it's project 24 the goal even not the promise not the guarantee there is no guaranteeing business was for that so technically no one should have been been there until week ago and there are people right now on this check and see some that I know who are there so I think it's incredible we just had 20 people

over here at the office some of them earning many multiples of a full-time income earning very nice incomes who started with project 24 there are are 1000 per month Club is growing at about one or two sometimes four per week that are that are getting there I think in my opinion the success rate is is better than I have been I would expected but the thing we don't have is how many people started it and did

not follow through and I'm just not seeing I'm I'm encouraged looking at the number of people who are working in our are spending the time I know a year in and are seeing those results when you look in the project 24 community we have badges that every said you know $500 $1,000 a month whatever and most threads have someone from the higher higher tier so I'm really encouraged by that but you should not most businesses fail

that's true in every industry most people who have had any goal will fail at it and so you can either say see you can't accomplish the goal or you can get started because a lot of people do especially if they follow through with what they say there this question can I start a blog now the competition is too much people have been saying that for several years now I've heard as soon as I started over a

decade ago and and I think that is an upper limiting problem we talked about we've been talking about upper limiting like all day at Yas we talk about this all the time because we see it a lot in comments on the YouTube channel just people who say yes I'm sure you guys can succeed but we can't the reason we start a new website is all the time from scratch without telling you guys about it is to

show just how it can be done over and over and over again and still today there's a lot of opportunity you do need to do a good job of your search analysis that's why we put that in project 24 because we don't want people wasting years creating their own content but if you do a good job of your search analysis there are so many Oh opportunities things create content about their the internet is nowhere near full

of confidence okay two questions one I'm gonna address while walking I'll be back in just a second and the other because we have to talk to Nathan in the other room and you're gonna get an office tour as we go so this is where we record a lot of our our YouTube videos here we have kind of different setups like we just have a basic light and a lot of copies in a lot of different areas

and we have a lot of you know yours where we record the project 24 podcast each week but the reason we're travelling here is because somebody was asking is when is the are the 60 steps to YouTube course launching Nathan you're on YouTube live is the 60 steps for YouTube launching I think I've seen this like five times yes well okay so we just got our designs back from our designer and we are working with them

we just sent all the information and we will be I think they said within a few weeks two or three weeks they will have the first iteration done so we're talking pretty soon I know we keep saying that but it is coming really soon and we're super excited about what they are Jimin right they have been filming like crazy to get all those videos out so people done we're gonna get it out there so we're launching

this course the new so we already have a youtube course in project 24 where we're giving them basic you know here's here's how here's our art theory here's how we're building our YouTube channels that's already there kind of in a webinar styles for project 24 members but we're doing a full 50 steps for YouTube video and that one is coming out in a couple weeks we're launching it with the beginning of those two sync up because

it's a full 60 step of course it's kind of a big deal so we want to do that at the right time okay oh and then a lot of yeah Amazon but I still have no idea what to do and it's harder and I think I've heard this many times where somebody says I don't have any special knowledge skill or anything else and I'm not 100% convinced that's true I think everyone has something about themselves that

makes them unique and so what you need to do now is some introspection and figure out like what does make me unique it may be that the things that make you unique aren't a great topic for a website or a YouTube channel that's fine what if you can figure out the things that make you unique figure away your work energy is right what makes you you what makes you tick and then let's pick a topic that

that you can leverage those aspects of yourself and so if you are Jim and me we have both been picking up new hobbies like every three months since we were 12 right we just love learning new stuff we read like crazy we're just having learners and researchers and we try the hobbies you sports new things all time and so for us creating websites in hobby spaces make a lot of sense a lot of people say well

I had a baby so I should make a blog about being a mom right or being a dad well okay but what is it that you have to provide is it about you that could make your parenting look unique and if you don't have that then that's probably not the best for you yeah and sometimes worthful for people feeling this way because we are and some people who aren't hobby people I have a harder time thinking

of things you know people are lonely right now we just don't feel like they have a core group of friends like if you're somebody who's good at that kind of establishing in order for friends a YouTube channel and just how to not be lonely absolutely good or it can be a little bit more problematic as a vlog but I think yeah but as a youtube channel I think could work great um Shekhar Garth says I'm two

months in and got nine clicks total until now is that bad no a few months in you should expect nothing yeah that's totally one long walk okay Lorenzo W says I have a lion whale niche medical niche where's the best place to find doctors who could medically review my contents for accuracy you be black and asking like for this I would look up work I've seen people find success there but remember just putting just having a

doctor review of content doesn't actually do anything for y my L you have to communicate that some way to Google go watch we have a video on eat on EA T for 2020 make sure you watch that it's just paying for that isn't actually going to accomplish anything okay okay icky little challenges ask this a few times so I'm going to go ahead and answer they're wondering if they're Marvel fan site is a good niche IB

am usually pretty reluctant to tibay my website my whole business to one product property written whatever Marvel is big enough and there's enough to talk about across the entire Marvel Universe's between the comics the movies the TV shows and all the different things that are out there that absolutely I mean there's a website there's several websites don't surround comic books and all of the movies and TV shows related in comic books they do extremely well and

so if you're Marvel focused I don't see why you couldn't succeed at gaining traffic as long as you figure out like how am I gonna monetize this you know am i selling comic books am i selling Disney Plus subscriptions what am i stepping here what what am i eating equal to what kind of info product can I create chances are people are just gonna come read the article and leave and so just think about that I

also worry about trademark issues to make sure you're not gonna constantly bump up against yeah I would not Marvel in if you've already done that I couldn't change it immediately dan Sanchez is it better to start a YouTube channel with a partner or solo so this is a great question a lot of people see us on YouTube and it's so helpful women are on the video together because you can finish one on top and then like

cover person is talking I think over the next thing it's really helpful to do and so if you have a partner that you can start with convince the sponsor to help you and that's awesome but never ever ever allow that to become an excuse and say oh it would be so much easier so I can't and you're always waiting on the next person and so it never moves forward I started YouTube channel solo it's okay we

can do it at whatever we work with whatever you have but you can so mike h asked what would you do if your traffic dropped by 8% right now good with the crisis if it's in the web's it's in traffic sorry the website is travel you know you look for opportunities of content you could create that's gonna do fine in this space if you could if you could create some content around like you know when is

it safe to travel yeah friend of mine was asking on Facebook just been like a trip to I planned everybody wise telling me that not really they're just go to Hawaii you know and you know having some good actual advice around that might be helpful now if you're creating affronted today the odds of it ranking unless you've been well established site the odds of it ranking in time might be pretty slim which case you might just

have to kind of I don't know just tend to work through this I don't use this time right now if you have free time to just create an absurd amount of good content and just know that you will come back the travel industry will recover and you might just websites and said you are starting new ones from scratch to walk along with this have we started those deep sharma says should I start an affiliate based site

on chimneys or Chinese expensive that people not buy through affiliate links I profit something that people buy online a chimp yes when I'm thinking chimney I'm thinking let me bricks in my house going about the roof in which case it's really nice right yeah there's just gonna kind of I don't I don't it doesn't ring as a great idea to me I would rather do a DIY site and try some articles on trapeze to see how

we do but I know I'm not really in the too many business okay whoops sorry it's moving so fast at service do you have a video about how we can set up the privacy policy in terms of service for our blog so what advice has a privacy policy built into it now you can just find that in your settings and it's pretty good and how it's written and so I would just use now and the neat

thing about that one is if you have a plugin that each tab in the privacy policy and they write that in there it automatically gets added to your WordPress privacy faucets it's pretty awesome can I cater to multiple categories in a single website sure every website you've ever created has multiple categories on the its you know if you're choosing kind of a micro niche sound proofing that we decide on I guess you could call them categories

but it's not all the same topic so the more the smaller you get the more the symphony is kind of the whole website but yeah you're gonna cover multiple things for sure it's helpful as you're growing the site if Google can figure out what to put you in that's all I would say so don't I wouldn't make a web stack up every day is there a monthly payment plan for project 24 there is not right now

so we'd love to have that sometime yeah there's some reasons why we can't add that an output will be a flood affiliate plugin be available to the public at some point in time yes it'll mean several months before our affiliate bullion gold until a trip Oh will be sold currently outside of Berwick 24 and there will be a monthly cost to it because of some of the cool things that were building in require processing and but

it's available right now for prepper 24 and we have a 2.0 version yes Bob American said that he wrote a 6500 word review post that doesn't seem to be doing that well is there a maximum content link there is a and we've probably fit into this a little bit with a couple of videos before but there's a misconception that length of post is a direct is a cause for higher ranking and we find that to be

not true there's a correlation between the two because usually a host that's longer has been better researched and has more information that's more helpful so it's better for the user if it's not better for the user if you reckon a lot of content you just stretch it out that doesn't help your SEO and actually it can cause you to rank worse and so what we find is to size the content appropriately for the information that's being

shared and just have the best information you possibly can put together if your content is better and more helpful than the competition's you should not rank them but sometimes that means putting in a table instead of four paragraphs of information that covers the same information that's in the table and so don't worry so much about the length of the post make sure that it's just sighs appropriately and that your content is syrup can you have too

many articles on your website that can slow down speed not really that used to be good WordPress would knock off at a certain amount of content it's been developed and it's not going to make hardly any difference man there's so much I wanted we want to talk to you guys about just know that we're rooting for you guys everything you guys are doing to start it starting a website it's intimidating you are facing constant problems we've

gotta figure stuff out we've walked that path well you know how hard it is you know how hard it is to get started and a lot of you are doing it anyway and starting some cool businesses or map in the other room I'm sure we've already taken care of you know project 24 remember succeeding we're just putting up new bins every week it's so cool to see people who are winning with this because every time you

see somebody win man they put a lot of faith and work in the in their project to make it happen and so I just want to congratulate all of you guys for going after this and those of you who are yet to get started and that was a great time one of the best times in history to go on offense and to win in this economy and that's how we can help each other thanks guys we'll
