Hero Gear Free in WoW — Full Breakdown & Transcript

[00:02] Turbulent Time Wars event now active, we have even more ways to gear up with hero track gear being more or less free for almost all players. There have also been some major changes to how loot is rewarded in the two new zones with hero

[00:16] gear becoming much more plentiful, and you'll be able to trade hero gear to all of your alts much easier. We'll also take a look at whether or not it's worth gearing up with season 2 being so close and how much you'll be able to skip over

[00:28] when the new season starts. Now, before we jump in, be sure to hit on that like button and subscribe so you never miss another video. The Turbulent Timeways event started up this week, which gives us backtoback time walking for 6 weeks

[00:41] straight. That makes this the perfect time to level up some alts, farm some time warped badges, or pick up some vendor rewards that you may have missed. But it's also a fantastic time to gear up your characters before season 1 comes

[00:54] to a close. Each week, we'll be able to pick up a timewalking weekly quest that rewards you with a cash of Kela Lash treasures. And all you have to do is complete five time walking dungeons within that week. This cash usually

[01:07] while the turbulent time waste event is active, the rewards are bumped up to hero gear. These caches can contain any item on the midnight raid boss loot tables, and the item level will be on par with those drops on heroic

[01:21] difficulty. That means the lowest item level you can get is 259, but the highest item level is 276 if you get really lucky and get one of the rarer items or something that drops from the later bosses. There's also a chance to

[01:35] pick up some incredibly powerful trinkets like the gaze of these or the Bellerin plumes which punch quite a bit above the power level that their item level would suggest. And then you can also upgrade any maxed out hero trinkets

[01:48] by using an ascendant void core which increases their item level up to 285. So if you get one of these trinkets, it could be a huge upgrade that serves you well for a good chunk of season 2. With there being six weeks of the Turbulent

[02:02] Time Wars event, that's six chances to get one of these powerful trinkets or just six pieces of free hero track gear to help gear up your characters ahead of season 2. You can complete the weekly quest on as many characters as you like

[02:15] in a single week. So, it's just guaranteed easy gear. It's not just the new event, though. There have been some major adjustments to the two new mini zones of Val and Nike this week. The first big change is

[02:28] for how the new zone world bosses reward loot. For the first kill on your account each week, the world bosses now drop hero gear on normal and heroic world tier difficulty. That means if you kill the world boss on just heroic, you'll

[02:41] get two pieces of warbound hero gear. One will be one of six and the other one will be four of six. So that's two pieces of hero gear you can send to any of your characters depending on the items you get. So that's a nice boost.

[02:54] But here's where things change quite significantly. After that first kill of the week, every other character that kills the world boss can now get a piece of champion gear on normal and a piece of hero gear on heroic that are

[03:06] soulbound. So, you won't be able to trade these ones to your alts, but they character can use. So, that's more super easy gear you can pick up on every character you kill the world boss on. Just make sure you kill them on heroic

[03:19] for the better rewards. These changes make it worth killing the world boss on interested in gearing up before the start of season 2. To help the gear flow even easier, rares can now drop heroic warbound loot, which

[03:34] can save you a lot of field accolades if you get lucky. This also makes rares far more valuable when compared to almost any other activity type in the new zones. Rares will also spawn more frequently, so you won't have to wait

[03:47] quite as long between each one. As an extra bonus, rares will now drop twice as many crests as before, and almost all of the elite monsters in the heroic world tier can now drop hero crests, so it should be easier to upgrade all of

[04:00] your gear as well. All enemies in the two new zones can now also drop dark particles, which you can trade in for additional field accolades to help gear up even faster. Or you can use them to buy bulging bags to target specific

[04:13] transmog unlocks that you may have been chasing since the start of patch 1205. That's not all, though. All of the hero boxes from the field accolade vendor are now also warbound. So, while you still can't trade your field accolades around

[04:28] your ults for whatever reason, you can buy the boxes and send those over instead. Between the world boss loot changes and rare farming, you should be able to earn field accolades quite quickly, as well as more hero gear. So,

[04:40] field accolades per character that you want to gear up. And then when you're finally in full hero gear, you can hopefully use any excess field accolades you have to buy a piece of gear for the next character that you want to work on.

[04:55] This does open up another option, though, with the addition of tier six ritual sites. Solo content players can farm as many myth crests as they want. This allows you to upgrade your crafted gear to item level 285, the highest item

[05:09] level you can obtain without jumping into group content. But there was one major frustration with this farm. You would still be earning field accolades because you're completing ritual sites, but you couldn't really do much with

[05:21] them if you didn't need any champion or hero gear. With the hero gear boxes now being warbound, that's no longer the case. So, you can happily or not so happily farm tier six ritual sites to slowly upgrade your crafted gear and

[05:35] then just buy hero boxes of gear for your alts and gear them up that way. you wouldn't even need to play those characters and they can still end up in full hero gear. Now, if you're wondering how important

[05:47] it is to gear up before season 2, I guess it depends on how much of the season 2 gear grind you want to skip over. If we take a look at what item levels we'll be working with in season 2, veteran gear is going to start at 272

[06:01] and can be upgraded up to 289, while champion gear starts at 285 and can be upgraded up to 302. So, if you spend all of your time in ritual sites farming myth crests to upgrade all of your crafted gear to 285, you're only really

[06:16] skipping over the initial gearing up options for season 2. Champion gear will still replace your crafted gear because it can be upgraded pretty far. As for season 1 hero gear, that will let you just and so skip over veteran gear in

[06:30] the new season as long as it's fully upgraded. If you go into season 2 without upgrading your gear, veteran gear is going to replace your hero gear quite easily. This means that having a full set of fully upgraded hero gear

[06:44] let you jump straight into content that rewards champion gear in season two, which includes nightmare prey hunts and tier eight bountiful delves. You should also be able to clear the lower level

[06:56] mythic plus dungeons without struggling too much or start working through the new raid on normal much easier. So, hero gear will probably be worth getting before the end of season 2, but grinding out the myth crests for your 285 crafted

[07:09] gear might not be super duper worth it, depending on how much time you have or what kind of content you enjoy to take part in. If you really want to gear up before the new season arrives to skip over as much

[07:22] of the lower end of the gearing treadmill as possible, I would highly encourage you to dip your toes into Mythic Plus dungeons. Not only do they offer you a much faster way to farm myth crests to upgrade whatever crafted gear

[07:34] you want to make, but you can use your bonus rolls to very quickly get a full set of myth gear, which should last a bit longer in the new season. But ultimately, it's going to be up to you. Season 2 will bring a massive gearing

[07:47] reset, so it's not a bad idea to save your energy for the start of the new season if you're starting to burn out a bit. But that's how gearing up just became even easier this week. and a bit of perspective for where this gear will
