Craziest Musical Instruments — Full Breakdown & Transcript

[00:00] I was about to test some of the craziest instruments on the internet. Like this Rubik's Cube that's actually a drum set. Or this gadget that turns my food into a piano. One of the instruments that even electrocutes.

[00:24] This is gonna be good. I already know what song I'm gonna make this is. I'm so excited to try this. Okay, here we have all of our musical kittens all in the right order.

[00:36] You just squish them. These are like so cute. They're all different colors and they're kind of awesome. Let's see if we can like play chords together, I think. Oop.

[01:21] Let's check out this video of Boom Whackers. I personally never played them so I'm really excited. I've literally never touched a boom whacker before so I'm pretty excited.

[01:51] That really does feel great. I love that. Okay, it kinda hurts. This kinda actually hurts. All boom whackers are plastic tubes that are shaped differently and different sizes to make different musical notes. So for instance,

[02:07] this one it says C, so it's a C. Then you can play the D, E, F, G, A, B, and the last E. That actually hurts my hand. But now since we have all the boom whackers right in front of us, I think we

[02:21] We should try to make a song just like the Boomwack-a-Late. These are all we need for the song.

[02:33] Okay, now I understand why Boomwackers are so loved. These things are a blast. And we're just getting started. There's way crazier instruments coming up later. Now we have the synth-a-set. Ooh!

[05:00] Ow. This is a Rubik's Cube. You can't make music with this one. But recently, I made a video with Soup Timmy, and he gave me this Rubik's Cube that apparently can play music.

[05:14] Oh my! This is sick! He literally just played the Harry Potter theme. We have to try this. All right, I really hope this thing isn't hard to set up.

[05:26] And there it is. All right, so the box said that I'm supposed to connect this to my phone. Okay, so it says pair cube. Okay, we're connected. All right, this looks really cool. I think it knows what you're doing on the cube, so whenever I turn this, it turns it on my phone. Okay,

[05:41] Okay, but I want to play music with this thing, so I'm going to go to games. There's like four different games on here. One of them is the Cubicizer. It's a cube and a synthesizer. That's kind of epic. All right, let's try it. I'm very... Wait, wait, wait.

[06:01] Okay, I'm actually going to try to do what it says and play with Gary Had a Little Lamb. No way, that's epic. Guys, I kind of just played it without a little amp. I messed up a little bit, but that was amazing.

[07:31] So while I was researching to find the craziest instruments, I came across a company called Brand New Noise. They happen to be based in Dallas, so we're gonna go check them out. [10:31] Okay, so it has a really nice, like, soft case. This is really nice. It's like opening an Apple product or something.

[10:43] And then I guess we should connect this to the guitar. Boom. Okay, that was nice. Okay, so the Lava Genie has two main modes.

[10:55] There's auto mode, which is how the guitar comes, which you just use these two squishy buttons at the top, and you have your arpeggiator, so if you put your finger on a chord... But this bigger squishy button right here actually does full strums.

[11:12] Something kind of like that. The second mode is called Creative Mode. This is actually my favorite mode. You activate it by pressing this button and the three buttons down here.

[11:24] All together. Now we're in Creative Mode. So you can do really cool sounds like this.

[11:37] Super sick. So in Creative and Auto Mode you can actually still use the scrummer, which I'm getting way more used to. It just takes a little bit of practice, but... This is the drum section.

[11:51] If I hit this middle button, it will start playing drums. And then you can play along. So I actually just downloaded the Lava Plus app on my phone.

[12:09] Let's take a look at some of the presets here. Okay, this preset is called Swifty. So you get like fret sounds. So it's an acoustic guitar, I assume.

[12:22] That's a really clean sounding acoustic guitar sound. I really like that one actually. Okay, this preset is called Wake Up. Ooh, wait, this might be my new favorite. Okay so in the app there actually a today hit area and now you can actually play along

[14:14] This seems very dangerous. This is so pointy. Okay, so we have the Tesla coil. Apparently, you can connect this to Bluetooth and play music on it. We're gonna turn the lights down a little bit and get it kind of moody in here. Okay, so I just changed it to the little music part of the switch.
