iPhone Duo CrackGate: Same Spot Every Time!
60sHigh controversy as it exposes a potential manufacturing defect in a highly anticipated Apple product, sparking debate.
▶ Play Clip"Delivers on the promise of discussing the iPhone Duo problem, but spends significant time on fan reactions and speculation."
The video discusses the emerging 'HingeGate' or 'CrackGate' issue with the iPhone Duo, where multiple users report consistent screen cracks at the same location after minimal use. The creator critiques the defensive reactions from Apple fans who dismiss the reports as fake or user error, and speculates on potential manufacturing defects and Apple's financial incentives for expensive repairs.
JerryRigEverything's durability test and teardown reveal poor performance, with the creator humorously dubbing it 'iPhone Puo' due to its fragility.
Multiple users report identical cracks in the same screen location, leading to the term 'HingeGate' or 'CrackGate'.
Apple enthusiasts dismiss customer reports as AI-generated or user error, showing a 'group hallucination' rather than accepting potential manufacturing issues.
A montage from channel Samime shows numerous Duos breaking at the exact same spot, with some failing even during setup, making it hard to dismiss as a fluke.
The cracks appear at a location where a bump under the screen is visible, pointing to the hinge pinching the display during folding.
Failures occur within 20 folds, ruling out dust exposure; the issue likely stems from the hinge mechanism itself.
Screen repairs for the Duo are the most expensive in the industry, costing more than an iPhone, which the creator suggests Apple may view positively as a revenue stream.
Some devices fail instantly, so Apple replaces them for free, but the creator speculates that over time, repair charges could become a profitable business strategy.
Apple Redditors claim the 24 reported cases are negligible compared to millions sold, but the creator argues that unreported cases could be numerous.
A user's photo of a cracked screen was accused of being AI-generated, with baseless claims about clothing and screen blackouts, illustrating extreme denial.
Comments like 'skill issue' and 'take better care of your things' are criticized as absurd given the device fails within 20 folds or during setup.
Apple is currently replacing affected units, but the creator questions whether the issue will persist and whether Apple will profit from future repairs.
The iPhone Duo's screen cracking issue appears to be a genuine manufacturing defect, but Apple's fanbase's denial and potential financial incentives for repairs complicate the narrative. The creator remains skeptical about Apple's long-term response.

08:10[00:01] iPhone, the iPhone Duo is out. I saw JerryRriig Everything's videos, the durability test and the tearown of the device. Not the most impressive showing, especially in that durability test there. Good heavens, holy Toledo. More
[00:15] like iPhone Puo because that [ __ ] is poop. So, I learned that it was out and the iPhone Duo and I found out that it's actually got a good bit of problems.
[00:28] There are a not small number of people that are showcasing very consistent cracks in their screen always in the same location which has led to something called hinge gate or sometimes referred to as crackg gate. I prefer the
[00:44] crackgate nomenclature. I think that fits far better because when it comes to Apple this [ __ ] is like crack and it is more than that. For some people it's a religion. Apple fans have been a topic I've covered before. They refuse to
[00:58] accept when someone doesn't like their product or if there's something wrong with an Apple product or someone reports something wrong, they're quick to attack them. That they must be like a paid sabotur, a bad actor looking to bismerch
[01:11] the good name of Apple. For some reason, there's something about the Apple brand that has people care more about that than their own family. Like, they marry themselves to Apple and will do anything to fight for them. So, when there's been
[01:26] this, you know, pretty large amount of videos from customers showing that their device is more busted than my nut after only like 20 foldings, they've kind of only like 20 foldings, they've kind of gone into like this group hallucination
[01:41] in order to like explain that it's their fault or that a lot of it's AI generated. It's very weird, very peculiar because Apple themselves is I think that's, you know, they're not putting up a big stink about it. But for
[01:57] some reason, the Apple enthusiasts are the ones that refuse to accept the reality that, hey, maybe the Duo does have like a manufacturing issue, or at least like a batch of a lot of them have a problem. But anyway, let me show you
[02:10] what it looks like. There's a video from a channel called Samime that showcased a montage of some of the more popular foot some of the more popular footage of these duos being broken. and it is always the exact same location. And now
[02:25] always the exact same location. And now we bring you HingeGate. As you may have heard recently that there's been increasing posts online of customers iPhone Duo inner screens breaking [music]
[02:37] and glitching out with dead pixels and lines on the screen after very little use. Heck, some people aren't even getting past the setup screen. It's hard to write this off as some kind of anomaly or just a crazy fluke like this
[02:51] freak defect that only a handful have experienced when there are so many videos showing this in the exact same spot. It's very very consistent. So, forward with their experience. There's a lot of customers that are reporting this
[03:06] exact same issue in this exact same location. There's clearly an issue of foot here. Maybe it doesn't affect every single device in circulation cuz there's just willy-nilly flip it as many times as they want, [ __ ] clamp it on their
[03:18] and it's not destroying their screen right away. But there is a again not experiencing this exact same problem. So it is looking like there is some kind of manufacturing issue with the hinge that seems to be the main culprit here.
[03:34] People are pointing to the hinge in this location considering where this keeps presenting. So, why is this fault happening? Well, the issue appears to be related to the hinge under the display, as the brakes seem to be appearing at
[03:47] the same location on the screen, a spot where one user found a bump under the videos showing that little bump through the screen, and that looks like Freddy Krueger coming through the wall on Nightmare on Elm Street. am that is
[04:02] something that is noticeable in some of the videos that are out there which is why people are pointing the finger at this hinge like basically where that is and with the folding it's pinching the screen causing this issue and in
[04:17] JerryRig everything's durability test obviously dust little grains of sand and all of that that was garlic to a vampire the duo does not like dust it can get in
[04:29] there and [ __ ] basically start slapping all the components around behind the screen and just cause a plethora of issues. But this is not a dust problem or anything considering this is happening to people within only
[04:42] 20 folds. Like they haven't even had time to experience dust. Unless of just [ __ ] belly flopped into the sand on the beach or something. But that's not what's happening. even during startup in one of them like there's no
[04:55] chance for it to even be exposed to any elements outside of what's in the device which is the hinge here and that again seems to be where the issues are arising at least in some of them not all of them where that complex hinge is as people
[05:09] are speculating that this part of the hinge is pinching [music] the screen plus it could be a good deal for Apple as screen repairs for the Duo are the most expensive in the industry costing more than one iPhone.
[05:23] the screen getting pinched in that location. And I also appreciate that this point gets brought up because I'm inclined to agree. I believe that this is something that Apple can almost view positively. And I'm sure many of you
[05:37] have heard about like plan obsolescence in the past where like devices are devices and products in general are just manufactured with basically a lifespan where eventually it'll start to degrade and decay by design. So that way you
[05:50] have to upgrade or get it repaired so that way they can double dip because what incentive does a company have to give you something that works, you know, forever or for a really long time cuz then you only buy it once. But if it's
[06:03] something that can have some issues down the line where you are inclined to upgrade to the next version or get it fixed, which is again something they can something that's been like a controversial topic in the past. And
[06:17] here with the screens cracking like this, as he brought as he brings up, it this, as he brought as he brings up, it is an expensive repair. And I know Apple claim that they actually lose money on repairs. But I think that's a whole
[06:30] hole. I had so much [ __ ] flip in my throat. I actually just had a gargle when I was hitting hole right there. I almost got But I think that's a whole load of barnacles. I think they do actually make
[06:44] a lot of money from this and is something that they like as you know, I they're putting these out there hoping that they all just [ __ ] break as you're setting them up. But the fact is if you do go and get it repaired, they
[06:59] can make more money as opposed to just selling it to you once. Now they get to come back into your piggy bank when you come to them to repair it. So it is like an actual business strategy. Well, this is egregious because customers are
[07:12] having these fail [ __ ] instantaneously like frame one upon like folding it. So, Apple can't like hose you down for a huge re repair charge at replacing it and fixing it as I understand it, which again is the right
[07:27] understand it, which again is the right thing to do. But over time, should this continue, they will likely be able to make a pretty penny off the screen repairs because of how expensive it is and what they charge for it. So, yeah, I
[07:42] think that is like a possibility and something that they aren't necessarily losing sleep over. I I don't think they're shedding big tears over it at the moment. They probably were just hoping that these kind of failures
[07:55] lifespan would be my guess. >> Comments like these saying they were all intentionally damaged. Others saying the cope of 24 pictures here out of how many issue. >> Dolan got some of the highlights here
[08:10] from some of the Apple Redditors which are a special breed. So, the idea that everything you're seeing from people's busted devices here is all intentionally
[08:22] damaged to bismerch the good name of Apple is dangerously delusional. Like, I institutionalized if that's your belief. I really cannot wrap my head around how someone like that exists. That everyone came together to make up these problems
[08:38] to attack Apple. What the [ __ ] is wrong with you, idiot? You actual [ __ ] Bro, the other person is saying like, "Oh, it's only 24 pictures out of how many million sold." Like they're celebrating. Like, we sold millions and only 24
[08:53] issues. We did it. We did it, Reddit. Brother, that's 24 pictures on just that well. And those are only the ones that are reported. Do you know how many issue as well? And instead of like posting it online on social media or on
[09:07] instead just immediately went to the Apple store to get it replaced. So you don't know the actual amount. It could be a ton or maybe it is a little. You don't know. You only go by what you see on social media and there is a lot
[09:20] there. So you can extrapolate from that like, hey, these are all the people that are showing the problem. How many others experienced it but never posted it. It could be a lot, could be a little, you don't know. But he's speaking from a
[09:32] place of authority here. Clearly not a prominent issue. Uh because I only saw these on Reddit. No big deal. This Australian posted his iPhone Duo screen cracked within 6 hours of ownership. And the comments had the craziest cope yet.
[09:45] One person saying, "Where's the matte protective film, dude? It honestly looks like it was peeled off. And now you're crying about it. Maybe I'm wrong, but screen." One person replying saying, "What are you talking about? That shine
[09:58] is a stripe of pixels that are stuck on white." But it didn't stop there. this person calling it an AI generated post saying no one else in the store and everyone is wearing the same clothes and those don't all look like employees.
[10:11] Nice touch though to black out your left screen to act like you're blotting out picture doesn't hold up to scrutiny. They're just hallucinating that photos are AI generated now because Apple couldn't possibly have messed up in any
[10:24] capacity. >> Get this man a padded cell stat immediately. He he can't he can't even tinker around with the notion that maybe there was an issue with at least a batch
[10:38] of the iPhone duos that are causing this problem. He jumps to it being AI. This is a fabrication. You're just looking to attack Apple. I caught you though. Nice try. A very clever touch to black out the screen on the left side to make it
[10:52] details. I saw right through it. I'm literally Batman, by the way. Yeah, I This is AI. They're all wearing the same thing, by the way. And you really [snorts] thought we could fool you could fool us. Yeah, it was a good attempt,
[11:05] but doesn't hold up to scrutiny? Try again next time, maybe. I'm going to go fine, by the way. >> Another person saying, "Skill issue, to things, bot." >> The gall of an Apple [ __ ] drone to
[11:20] call someone else a bot because they were showcasing a problem they had with were showcasing a problem they had with their device is criminal. Like that guy lack of self-awareness there. That's [ __ ] crazy to me. What are you
[11:33] things. This device just released and is showing an issue for a lot of people very early on into its lifespan. As early as 20 folds on the startup screen man? What do you mean take better care of your things? What do you do? This guy
[11:48] probably traps it in like [ __ ] epoxy or something as like a showpiece. Ah, my iPhone Duo. This I don't even use it. I just like to look at it and think about Apple. Yes. Like what do you mean, man? Just such a [ __ ] loser. And there's
[12:02] so many people like that in the Apple community. It's insufferable. But yeah, at least Apple's replacing them, like trying to get people working,
[12:14] iPhone duos that are having this problem. But like I said, down the line, maybe this will continue to happen. Maybe it doesn't. Who knows? But if it does, I don't think Apple's necessarily tore up about it because they can charge
[12:26] a lot for the screen repairs here for them. But we'll see, I suppose. Anyway, after learning about the iPhone Duo's existence here out in the wild and what's been going on with that. That's really about it.
