[07:49] don't know. [Music]

[10:43] Uh, board soups, thank you for the uh, super chat. Um, is it just money? Either way, thank you very much.

[11:00] Um, so yeah, today we are going to be watching uh Gar's brand new anime Bon, which I have been looking forward to immensely ever since he told me he was working on it. Um, I being in Canada unfortunately missed

[11:15] I being in Canada unfortunately missed the Japanese premiere. Uh, Kissaloo, the Japanese premiere. Uh, Kissaloo, thank you for resubing 20 months. Damn. thank you for resubing 20 months. Damn. Thank you very much.

[11:34] Uh, we might be done by the time by the time you're back. It's only an 18minute anime, you know. It's it's uh I mean, not only that is a very impressive feat. Um

[11:48] Um but yeah, Gar uh told me about this uh toward the start of the year. Um and I've just been super excited to see uh what he cooked up. Nick Gray Peanut, me too. Um we got a hype train going over

[12:05] too. Um we got a hype train going over on Twitch. Uh, Marica Street. Um, I hope I'm pronouncing that right. Um, I hope I'm pronouncing that right. Uh, thanks for subbing. Um,

[12:21] so everybody's saying it's really good, which uh, you know, I'm I really didn't which uh, you know, I'm I really didn't have a doubt. um you know since like the first time he was talking about it um he was talking about you know

[12:34] trying to create a special moment at the start to like hook people in and and um you know Garn Gar knows isekai and anime better than damn near anyone. Um so I figured it would be good but I am glad to hear the initial um

[12:51] to hear the initial um hype is very high. I'm a bit low. Oh. Um, maybe the mic isn't close enough. I can crank it up a little. can crank it up a little. That better.

[13:15] a video. I shouldn't have adjusted my gain. Oh, that's going to be a nightmare gain. Oh, that's going to be a nightmare for Trey. Sorry, Trey. Um,

[13:28] That could be fun. That could be really fun. Um, doing the hottest trash series. Maybe maybe like bring back the public service anime guy. Um, although I do feel like people were

[13:42] although I do feel like people were really annoyed by the voice um with that one. Uh, isekai in-laws where Jeff works as a couples. Also not the worst idea. Um,

[13:59] Also not the worst idea. Um, this anime is about home.

[14:11] Uh, I mean that does seem to be the theme. Bran. I mean, you'll probably want to go watch it again. Definitely like after

[14:23] watch it again. Definitely like after the stream is done. Um, go watch it on the stream is done. Um, go watch it on on Garn's channel, you know. Uh, he he on Garn's channel, you know. Uh, he he deserves all the views um for this. Uh,

[14:41] a lot of people saying they like the PSA voice. Um, you know, I I like like fell off after the first couple episodes and and like I was

[14:55] you know, maybe the voice was bugging people. Um, got to come up with a good idea to bring him back though. Is this a big hyped anime? Kind of. Yeah. I mean, it's it's Gigick. My buddy

[15:11] Yeah. I mean, it's it's Gigick. My buddy Gar got to make an anime. Gar got to make an anime. Um, which is just crazy. Uh,

[15:25] question, right? Because it's um it's got multiple tracks. We'll go with English because it is the original track, although I think we'll turn on subtitles just to to make it a little easier for

[15:39] everybody to understand in case I talk over something. Um, iside into S tier trash anime. So like one of those one of those um whole class

[15:55] get gets iside except it's just everybody in a stream chat. That's actually like that could be like a really fun idea. Um, if you like take it really fun idea. Um, if you like take it to the logical extreme and just like

[16:10] represent all of the different kinds of people that there are in that appear in people that there are in that appear in chat typically. Um,

[16:27] just want to make sure everybody's got time to get on in with us for this watch time to get on in with us for this watch along. Um,

[16:45] English dub at the last minute. Well, that's not what YouTube says. that's not what YouTube says. Um, I'll have to ask him.

[17:01] hear, you know, Sid's performance and everything. Um Connor uh did the the everything. Um Connor uh did the the direction for it.

[17:29] Demon Lord would be dead in two or in in an episode due to pure genre savvy. Um I mean if you're genre savvy you don't kill the demon lord. You you don't even bother with him because the less you bother him the chiller your isekai slow

[17:43] bother him the chiller your isekai slow life is. That's the real genre savvy. life is. That's the real genre savvy. Um, everyone got your popcorn?

[17:57] be funny. Um, yeah, he should have bridged his own anime. That's a really bridged his own anime. That's a really good idea. Uh, all right. Um, I think we're I I think we're good to start. You got your beer?

[18:13] I got something that's only legal in Canada here, but I will enjoy it after the stream because I am technically working. Um, I mean, not only legal in Canada, also Amsterdam and various other places, but

[18:26] Amsterdam and various other places, but you know, you know, you know, you know. Jam John, here's a little something. Uh, he did the English dub last minute by calling in all the favors he had. Talked about it on stream. Okay, I missed that.

[18:39] about it on stream. Okay, I missed that. Um, I mean I'm sure it's a good dub. You know,

[18:57] right. We're just raw dogging it then. Um or I'll leave them on. You know, I'm going to leave them on. It's going to be confusing for some people. Um, possibly me and I might turn them off at some point, but I figure it is better to have

[19:09] them on just in case I want to talk over it. Is there another subtitle track it. Is there another subtitle track though? That's the other question.

[19:24] English autogenerated might work. know, let's not let's not mess with it. Good stream. Uh, thank you. Um,

[19:36] it's a big compliment because we haven't even started it yet. All right, let's uh let's get watching. Um, everybody got your popcorn? Uh, I'm going to hit play in five, 4,

[19:50] 3, two, two, one. the subtitles if they are jarring as some people are saying that they are.

[20:04] some people are saying that they are. Hey, I work for them.

[20:50] You'll discover monumental history and miracles that only occur once every 200 >> Okay, we're turning the subtitles off. >> I don't get it. What's he thinking? >> I don't get it. What's he thinking? >> We are now arriving at floor one. Floor

[21:19] I really wish it would quit going through my PC. >> I guess would subtitles help with that. I don't know. I'm just going to leave him on to be safe. Sorry to jerk you around on that.

[21:32] around on that. >> I'm headed out now. See you, Dad.

[21:45] >> What? It's a threat level two zone. >> This is floor two. Floor two. belongings with you when you depart. >> Interesting world. >> Interesting world. >> I know you're worried, but I'll be fine.

[21:58] >> I know you're worried, but I'll be fine. Have a little faith. >> No text translating in the subs. Okay. Final decision. Subs off.

[22:15] Final decision. Subs off. Sid's doing a really good job in this. Sid's doing a really good job in this. That is Sid, right?

[22:38] read anything? >> I'm going now. I'm going now. >> You need to come home. >> I know you mean well, but you have to let me do this on my own.

[22:52] >> This is so exciting. >> I'm ready now. >> I'm ready now. >> Understood, sir.

[23:11] >> Yeah, Sid did a really good job. She doesn't like sound like herself at all. I mean, a little bit, but like, you know.

[23:28] I love this music, man. Ah, Kevin never misses. Never misses. [Music] Today marks the beginning of my new life. [Music]

[24:00] out. Like Kevin's not just a really great composer. He's he's genuinely one great composer. He's he's genuinely one of the nicest dudes I've ever met. of the nicest dudes I've ever met. Just a good friend to have generally

[24:33] >> Okay. So, she reverse isideed herself to our world, I guess. Oh, please. Come on. Please. Okay, >> let's see here. >> I wish there were subtitles for the for

[24:47] the text. >> 13 rejections in a row. This sucks. >> 13 rejections in a row. This sucks. Email.

[25:09] >> the geeks minus >> to inform you you've been accepted. >> to inform you you've been accepted. >> Accepted.

[25:21] >> There's a lot of really good shots in this, too. [Music] >> All right, that's not bad. I was never one for cooking back home. >> Just a moment. It's almost done.

[25:37] I always wanted to make meals with you. I should have said so. >> Thank you for calling customer support. >> My name is Ren. What can I help you with >> Yeah, I'm calling about the thing you sold me. Uncle Chunk broke as soon as I

[25:52] opened the package. I needed it for tomorrow. Send me a new one right now. >> I'm not playing. I want to talk to your manager now.

[26:28] do better tomorrow. >> Okay. So, there's other immigrants from the fantasy world. >> She's all right for now.

[27:12] going back and forth. Is it maybe like an exchange student situation? [Music]

[27:28] cuz it doesn't have the the regular number of moons. Oh. Oh, that looks good. I know Gar loves his anime food porn, so you know,

[27:44] glad he got that in there. [Music] [Music] Yeah, the backgrounds are gorgeous, too.

[28:17] >> Or mom or maybe sister or friend. I don't know is pregnant now. H Okay. What's this festival? The moons are converging.

[28:48] big room? If they have the same yucky cell as last year, we have to

[29:14] That's such a cool design. [Music] I really I I want to find out more about this world, you know, like obviously building >> happening,

[29:40] [Music] [Applause] Here they come to formation. >> Yes, sir. [Music] >> Nada, protect the egg. Okay, I will.

[29:55] >> Nada, protect the egg. Okay, I will. >> Where is that signal?

[30:08] >> Yes, sir. >> What are they doing here? Oh, those are nice and creepy. >> Quickly.

[30:32] >> What? It's not right. [Music] situation where >> I found the place where I truly belong.

[30:49] >> A little time displaced. >> Then I would never look back. >> On that day, I became a burden on Dai's shoulders.

[31:04] >> Oh. That's why I can't go back. >> Ben, come on. Let's get going. >> Okay. So, that was >> Was that his wife and and that's his daughter? I don't know. No, that doesn't

[31:17] daughter? I don't know. No, that doesn't make sense.

[31:31] It's an interesting character dynamic. I'm all toasty warm. Even though I'm covered in snow. I guess this is what alcohol does, huh?

[31:43] >> Come on, name. Pretty please. Show us some of your magic. some of your magic. >> No way. I can't. What did people see? A not like we're at the office. >> Besides, isn't your magic a part of you?

[31:57] >> Besides, isn't your magic a part of you? >> You think so? Then off to the I go. [Music] Auntie on. >> Why don't you come over? I'm making curry tonight.

[32:14] >> Luna, let's go upstairs. >> No, I want to stay and play with MoJi. >> You can play later. >> Then how about we play for a while? >> Man, that's a nice house.

[32:28] >> Man, that's a nice house. >> There you are. Thank you. It's lovely how much fun your family has together. >> Oh, yes. >> About as nice as you'll ever find in

[32:40] Japan. >> Dai inspired me to come here, if you can believe it. I wasn't originally planning to stay all that long, but now here I am with a family. >> I'm so happy for you. You're inspiring

[32:54] >> It's okay to be honest. >> That was a Curt's comment. >> Aliens can't hide our emotions. Our wings give us away. wings give us away. That reminds me here. Dy entrusted it to

[33:07] That reminds me here. Dy entrusted it to me. I think you should listen to him. [Music] >> Hey, if you're watching this right now, an thought it was the right time to show you. I'm not sure how long it would have

[33:21] been since you moved out. Could be a week or maybe even a year. Are you eating well? You know, I I've been cooking my curry a lot, but I keep making way too much for myself because it was always your favorite.

[33:38] >> Oh, >> and I have no doubt you're working hard. remember, you don't need to push yourself too hard. You can come home whenever you feel like it. All right.

[34:07] I'm ready to go now. >> Understood, miss.

[34:58] Jewels [Music] [Music] roll.

[35:21] Oh, [Music] >> it's his parents. [Music] >> Yeah, the music is really going hard. I agree.

[35:36] agree. [Music]

[35:50] [Music] I'm back.

[36:06] favorite. Dy's famous. >> It looks amazing.

[37:24] >> I'm I'm just I'm like enjoying this music. Um but I probably shouldn't because it's going to get copyright claimed. Um, claimed. Um, uh,

[37:47] can squeeze into 18 minutes. Um, you know, like like it doesn't it doesn't go for too much. it like gives you a taste of the world without and and you know like like gives you

[38:01] shows rather than tells you a lot about it. Um I'm sure if I knew more about uh it. Um I'm sure if I knew more about uh Thai culture um Thai culture um that uh I' I'd get more out of it there.

[38:15] that uh I' I'd get more out of it there. Um but uh yeah, no like like that was that was great. the the um parallel stories

[38:27] there's like that mystery through the first half of like how do they know each other and then you get that and then you you kind of like understand the you kind of like understand the diverging paths that they're taking. Um

[38:48] they have different uh feelings about going home too, right? like seems like Dai never went back to Japan, right? He was just very happy to be where he was. Um, and uh, Ren was like, you know,

[39:06] obviously Ren got a little more homesick, but also, you know, trying to adapt to a new country um, is is challenging. And like I don't know I you know I I've been through some of the same stuff as Gar

[39:22] through some of the same stuff as Gar living in Tokyo. So I I feel like some of that experience comes through. Um although you know obviously I haven't immigrated anywhere near as many times as he has. Um,

[39:35] as he has. Um, but yeah, no, it's it's it's a very very um heartstring tugging uh little short heartstring tugging uh little short film. I think it's I'd probably give it

[39:48] like an 8.5 or a nine out of 10. That's that's kind of my feeling on it. Um, and I do really want to see more of the world and get to know these characters a world and get to know these characters a little bit more. Um, it was good.

[40:14] good way to put it. Um, the thing, right? Like I feel like there's a lot of little details in there that I'll pick apart or or that I'll

[40:27] through, you know, knowing what the characters are doing. Um, so yeah, I I I really think they squeezed a lot of narrative value into a squeezed a lot of narrative value into a very short package. Um, very impressed.

[40:43] Uh, I hope Gar gets to make a full anime one day. Um, be nice if I could too one day, but that's that's a whole separate thing.

[40:55] But yeah, no, Gar Garn did a great job. Um I'm I'm a believer. Seven out of 10 for you. That's that's fair. Um but it's like it's definitely in the

[41:08] good range, right? You know, good to great. Um again on subs. Um, the dragon lore is nuts and I want to

[41:22] know more. I agree, man. That that like I mean it it's such a beautiful creature design. There's a lot of really great creature designs in this. Those like little red angry mouths that ate the dragon. Um, great.

[41:38] Uh the the you know the other critters they were fighting too were pretty good they were fighting too were pretty good but uh

[41:55] that out. Uh if I do make an anime, what genre would it be? I mean I I can't do an isseekai now, can I? Um, the thing is I've got like a couple ideas for an isekai. I've

[42:09] got I've got one for a for like a cyberpunk I've got one for a for like a cyberpunk VR MMO anime thing. So maybe it would be maybe it'd be that that kind of strike zone. I don't know. Um,

[42:28] yeah, 100% an etchy horum thing. You're right. You're right. Let's be real. Um, fantasy or sci-fi, leaning toward fantasy. Uh, Milky Subway is amazing.

[42:43] fantasy. Uh, Milky Subway is amazing. Yeah. Um, everybody watching this, uh, check out Milky Subway, Dungeon and Television, um, and Nights of Gwennavir. If you like indie animation, want to support indie

[42:57] animation, um definitely uh check all three of those definitely uh check all three of those out. But Milky Subway especially, uh crazy. Um it was made by one person basically

[43:10] with like a little bit of support. Oh yeah. Um should keep an eye out for. the Kickstarter uh like Kickstarter backers

[43:24] just got to see it. That that was a a guy in Vancouver who made an entire guy in Vancouver who made an entire featurelength animated movie, like 90 featurelength animated movie, like 90 minutes of animation all by himself.

[43:37] Took him uh years, better part of the last decade, I believe. Um last decade, I believe. Um in the anime video. Um, yeah, maybe I in the anime video. Um, yeah, maybe I should. Maybe I should. Um,

[44:00] see the Nasica um inspiration there. Dungeon crawler um inspiration there. Dungeon crawler Carl anime. I would love that. Yeah. Um,

[44:13] because it would probably be based on the web manga and the web manga's like really messed with some very important lore in the dungeon crawler Carl universe related to penises. If you've read all the books, you understand that

[44:26] read all the books, you understand that like the idea that that penises were an alien experiment that just happened on Earth just completely does not square with any of the religious lore. Um, there's a lot of gods with their dicks

[44:39] out in Dungeon Crawler Carl. I'll just say that. Um, some dicks more out than say that. Um, some dicks more out than others. Uh,

[44:59] it's a great time to be a fan of fantasy anime in general. Um, if you haven't watched Secrets of the Silent Witch, that's uh that's great. Is Dungeon Crawler Carl Isseekai? That's a tricky question. Um, I would

[45:13] That's a tricky question. Um, I would say yes. I would say that the dungeon say yes. I would say that the dungeon with with the sentient AP NPCs and the the whole Skoola Pendra level storyline, I would say that it is sufficiently a

[45:29] I would say that it is sufficiently a simulation of a real place to count. But also, you know, you can you can go either way. It's a lit RPG where there is no going back to the old world. So, I would say yes.

[45:45] But, you know, I also called uh Shandria Frontier an isekai. So, I'm definitely not a staunch definitional conservative

[45:58] not a staunch definitional conservative when it comes to isekai. Um, but yeah. Yeah, that was good. I'm glad you guys could all join me for it. Um,

[46:20] don't want to do it in the same stream just because uh, reaction to Bon. Um, but yeah, I was thinking of of playing

[46:36] uh either Hollow Night Silk Song or Trails in the Sky first chapter remake. Um, is the Wizard of Ozekai? Undeniably, yeah. the Wizard of Ozekai? Undeniably, yeah. Unless it's all a dream, in which case,

[46:52] Unless it's all a dream, in which case, no. But books where it's definitely not a dream. So yeah, Wizard of Oz is an isekai.

[47:05] Alice in Wonderland is an isekai. Epic of Gilgamesh is an isekai. There's a lot of Gilgamesh is an isekai. There's a lot of classic isekai. Um

[47:22] everybody for for coming out. Uh I had fun with you. Uh we're going to be doing fun with you. Uh we're going to be doing the uh ANN. We're going to be doing another trailer watch party this time with ANN. I'm not sure if it will be on

[47:36] watching on YouTube, uh just be aware twitch.tv/jthu if you want to watch there. Uh or you can go to um anime news network's YouTube channel. I will see if I can get co-streaming on

[47:51] here, but they probably don't want to like like compete on the same platform. Um,

[48:05] Jump Space has been fun. It came out yesterday. Is that just keeps reading the sentences. Space Jam Digimon demo. Is there is Time

[48:17] Stranger finally uh is there finally a demo for it? Um that could actually be really good. That could be really good. Like, could be really good. Like, you know, personally, I'm I'm more into

[48:33] you know, personally, I'm I'm more into I'm more into trails, but

[48:50] yeah, I do Digimon. Uh, I'll have to check out the demo. Um, check out the demo. Um, trailer watch party is on the 26th. Oh, Lei, you already uh or Leia, you already uh answered. Thank you. Um,

[49:04] if Esafl's isekai, then Gachiakuta's isekai. That's a very interesting philosophical uh standpoint. shade bug. Um, I'd be interested in debating that with you because uh I mean I get, you know, you

[49:20] could call gachi gachiakuta isekai. It's it's definitely two different worlds with two different very different rules. Um although I would call it more of an elitalike. Um

[49:40] out. I'll maybe just put up a poll, see what game you guys want me to play. Um, I am down for all three. Um, I have not yet played fun to just go into Silk Song because

[49:54] I've heard it's really hard and I don't want to brag, but I'm pretty I don't want to brag, but I'm pretty good at video games. Um,

[50:08] sound fun. Thanks, Borefrog. Yeah, welcome to Japan, Miss Elves. Great. Um,

[50:20] did I move back to Canada? No, I'm staying in Canada for the summer. Um, somebody had to take care of our house uh over the summer because um we we got a situation. It's fine. Um, Yasi's back in Japan, uh,

[50:35] taking care of our house there and watching a lot of Jujutsu Kais, uh, Jujutsu Kaizen stuff. There's a lot of Jujutsu Kaizen crossovers and she's obsessed with that series. Um, even more than me. Um, so that's just what she's

[50:51] been doing. I'm getting like equal Silkong, um, Trails and, uh, Digimon. So, all good

[51:03] and, uh, Digimon. So, all good suggestions. So, songs like Shadow of the Erd Tree. Okay. Okay. So, pretty hard, but that would also mean it's not as hard as Seciro, so I can probably do it.

[51:27] Uh, I think I think we're done here. Thank you everybody. This was a lot of fun. Hope you enjoyed uh G anime. Go watch it separate from uh G anime. Go watch it separate from this. Go watch it with subtitles on. Um,
