Roasting My Audience's Anime Choices... Again

[00:03] reasonable while some of you may have noticed that I've occasionally posted a link to a survey for people to fill out at their Leisure a survey that asked a variety of questions but the one that is important today is what have you been

[00:18] a lot of anime companies now don't really release the data of the the watch statistics of their shows for one reason or another mostly because they might not want to say how bad a particular show is

[00:32] doing I mean they'll love to tell you when a show is doing well not so much when it's the other way around that's what I want to know that is what we want to see what have you been watching what is actually popular instead of what I

[00:47] just think is popular but also more importantly what is popular where because countries are wonderous thing wondrous different cultures experiencing wondrous different cultures experiencing the same media at similar times just how

[01:00] different are anime fans from the states compared to other English-speaking countries for our purposes today we're talking about survey responses from Canada the United States as well as the UK and Ireland and Australia with New

[01:12] countries and you speak English please don't think that I deem you any less worthy it's just that that's where the majority of our responses came from we didn't think it fair to judge other countries beyond that on just the tastes

[01:25] may have responded from there there were four separate surveys has taken over the past year with a total of something like I don't know 9,300 participants is and together these surveys white box entertainment we're going to look at

[01:40] them why to judge you of course specifically to judge your country of what you've been watching and you tie that to a country you can determine

[01:52] that to a country you can determine which country has the best taste oh yes you may think that you have gathered what the results may be based on my own personal country of origin you may also be incorrect so I have the results

[02:06] here let's take a look now according to the survey that we have concocted what shows from the last little while have you been more likely to have watched if going to start there because the vast majority of my audience is US based I

[02:22] know this I'm fine with this largely so it seems like a good place to start it's also a great place to start because I could put you guys on blast because you that out of context if you want but according to the data if you were from

[02:37] the United States of America you are 27% more likely than other English-speaking countries to have watched momentary Lily what is wrong with you if you remember from my seasonal video I don't particularly like momentary Lily and you

[02:51] can say that I'm biased against it because it's a studio Goan show from a narrative standpoint from a visual standpoint sure their shows make for standpoint sure their shows make for great well wallpaper amazing still shots

[03:03] putting that into motion and you start having to like narratively justify that motion and then you see there's not much there this is the show that you are most likely to watch out of all others if you call the United States of America home I

[03:16] disappointment I feel with our Southern neighbors I really can't all right let's see if we can redeem this shall we surely the great United States of America can redeem themselves with their taste

[03:30] okay also you are 25% more likely to have watched Dalia In Bloom that's not bad but it doesn't make up for momentary literally at all Dalia In Bloom is that uh reincarnation anime from last year that focused on a gal who became a

[03:45] crafter of magical objects and got tossed around romantically by other characters despite her not really being all that interested in love it's an interesting choice and not one that I would have expected but of course that's

[03:58] you never know what you're going to get sometimes so let's uh flip the chart around what have you been less likely to have watched if you're from the United States if you are from the USFA you are 16% less likely to have watched days

[04:13] with my stepsister well that's not what I expected at all I mean I don't want to stereotype too much but if somebody asked me which englishspeaking country was more likely to watch the romance

[04:25] show about a sister I would have probably started with the US sorry guys maybe that's a little unfair of me at least according to this it was so good job America if you live in the United States you are also far less likely to

[04:38] States you are also far less likely to have watched plus-sized elf 10% less English-speaking countries and again I find that fascinating though perhaps there might be something there about the eating habits of a formerly beautiful

[04:52] elf and what happens to her that hits a little bit too close to home perhaps I I best not psychoanalyze the audience from that particular country too much but of course not all is great from the home of the Hamburger because while you are 10%

[05:07] less likely to have watched plus-sized elf you are also 10% less likely to have watched the first slam dunk you know that amazing slam dunk movie that aired in English in theaters in 2023 what is it with you being against type America

[05:23] basketball to my knowledge despite it being a half Canadian invention we're not going to get into that today is as a sport not more popular anywhere else in the world than in America so I would then have assumed that you would have

[05:38] loved one of the best basketball films to ever exist apparently not the UK and Ireland have got you beat with them being 74% more likely to have watched slam dunk compared to everybody else damn fine job you guys Leading The Way

[05:53] with that I mean Australia and New Zealand are also 36% more likely to have watched slam dunk and Canada it's 133% more likely so really just continues to show how much the US just really doesn't like that movie and how they should be

[06:07] rightly shamed for it now let's move away from the US as is proper and we now come to the UK and Ireland you started off with major points in your slam dunk numbers not going to lie but I'm going to be honest the rest of it doesn't look

[06:21] too good if you live in the UK and Ireland you are more likely than other englishspeaking countries to have watched card fight Vanguard at 46% more watched card fight Vanguard at 46% more likely 30% more likely for a bon bon bon

[07:17] Zealand you guys have a lot of really good shows in your top end let's have a look shall we you are more likely to have watched garia Phantom trigger you are more likely to have watched Ino you have more likely to have watched Pluto

[07:31] and cyberpunk Edge Runners sure you were also fairly likely to have watched plus-sized elf but I mean you guys also watched slam dunk as I mentioned earlier so you guys are doing you guys are doing really well all things considered but of

[07:43] course of course we must now speak of my own countrymen from Canada my home and native land as Canadians we have yet to get to the best part of this video which is of course the shows that make Canada absolutely based here are 11 shows that

[08:00] you are more likely to watch if you're a Canadian why 11 one show for every point on the freaking Maple Leaf let's go my happy marriage tsoka Hotel Metalist Fruits Basket bureaucrat de villainess dad's

[08:14] been reincarnated reincarnated as an aristocrat Spice and Wolf the new one obviously mobile sued Gundam the witch from Mercury the Apothecary Diaries I from Mercury the Apothecary Diaries I left my a rank party and oh my gods one

[08:29] piece freaking one piece I mean there are some we ended up putting in the survey you know for kicks which also show that Canadians are more likely to have watched Yuri on ice but I mean

[08:43] character in that show who got some great screen time and it involves skating on ice that's not all that surprising that we are top on that one compared to the US and others but you see Canada Canada Canada Canada these

[08:59] are are all shows that I like a lot of these are very Tristan core shows shows that I feel like while I know I like them I would never push them onto

[09:11] somebody else because I do not want to think that the reasons why I like them else in the anime Community might like them so that really does beg the them so that really does beg the question H is Canada Tristan core or am

[09:24] I Canada Corp no I mean seriously if you're in Canada you're more likely to avoid watch tasokare Hotel how many people are actually watching tasokare Hotel I've seen it talked about nowhere my anime list says that only 21,0 51

[09:39] members of its website admit to watching it compared to like the 217,000 people watching Apothecary Diaries and the 381,000 who are watching solo leveling it's a very small number of English speakers who are watching

[09:53] tasokare and yet if you are from Canada you are more likely to be included in that very small number tsoka Hotel of course being the show that I here on this channel streamed the first several episodes of and we all had a blast shout

[10:08] out to you guys is this survey saying that because I streamed those episodes that Canadians are now more likely to have watched the show mayhaps like how many other people also are watching medalist this season M has it at 41,000

[10:23] users almost 42,000 users double that of tasokare and again it's a show that I've recommended on on this channel and apparently Canadians have agreed with me the real interesting thing if you start digging into this a bit more is that

[10:37] Canadians seem to have a higher likelihood compared to our other likelihood compared to our other englishspeaking Brethren to enjoy isekai englishspeaking Brethren to enjoy isekai now I know a bunch of the community at

[10:50] large have been fairly negative against isekai as a genre and I don't disagree because of you know just how prevalent is a is and how well syy and is a is and how well syy and uninteresting a lot of it ends up that

[11:05] said I also feel like I've personally been a lot more lenient towards the genre than other people my seasonal watch lists keep including a whole bunch of them this season included heck one of my favorite narrative stories of all

[11:21] time that's ever come out of Japan is itself in isekai I'm not much of a Stan people will agree that no that's normal for people who love an original material to dislike its adaptation for one reason or another shout out to Sakamoto days

[12:07] Australia and New Zealand have that at 18% so maybe I should just you know move to New Zealand until I remember that they had medalist at -41% and then I'm like no actually I'm good wait C Canada can we we have bajano
