Sam's Club Tech Deals: Good or Bad?

[00:00] So we, last time, took a look at Costco but Sam's Club is kind of the biggest competitor. So there is like a decent selection of gaming gear.

[00:13] So this is a $370 Lenovo laptop, which is not crazy. Processor low, storage medium, memory high? Everything down here on the PlayStation side,

[00:28] I'm not seeing anything that's a good deal. And so, my friends, we were, Now, I'll say that the selection online was a bit better,

[00:44] but, still, evil Costco has got some making up to do. A while back, on "Mystery Tech," and when we opened it, it was in pieces.

[01:00] - So actually, something recently you could buy all over the place. This is not just wall art.

[01:13] and I don't like it. (Austin laughs) to put them up on your wall So this is a vertical record player

[01:26] and, importantly, has Bluetooth, if you want to die. this seemed like it was a reasonable deal, Fuse audio vertical record player?

[01:38] is not directly in front of the mic? We paid $230. of you're spending enough money, you should expect quality.

[01:52] So we got our little frisbee that's included. I have never been attracted to record players. than everything else, 'cause it's so simple and easy.

[02:08] - [Alex] I will say so that if you tried to buy - Yes. - It is roughly like $340.

[02:20] That's what we did in the 80s, sorry. - [Austin] Oh, that's super fake. But from the front, I actually don't think

[02:32] - [Alex] Yeah, I feel like that's the thing so it's, obviously, just off to the side. So I'll plug it in here, wow!

[03:28] we weren't missing out the first time we tried to look This is just like no bass and no clarity. so we'll find out really quickly,

[03:43] that sounds bad or the speakers? better, doesn't it? That sounds pretty decent.

[03:56] (Austin groans) like wood bookshelf speakers and call it a day. So we were looking through what Sam's Club had in store.

[04:10] was, surprise, surprise, the lack of deals on PC, that were actually decent, and this one, specifically, It's not like an IdeaPad, right? - [Alex] It's the V15 G4.

[04:26] The main reason why I like this one, at least in theory, and I will say that it's got a barrel plug. Alex, this was a legitimately affordable laptop, was it not?

[04:41] We have bought so many other laptops for this price - We did a whole video comparing, quote, unquote, - [Alex] At Sam's Club. it retails for $500.

[04:55] - [Austin] So $400 for a laptop, and I'll tell you, has a Core i3. - That's not terrible. - Plastic, very plastic.

[05:09] There's a USB-C, which I do not think supports power, I think what this probably is is just an old chassis (sighs) Because of the RAM crisis, most of the laptops

[05:25] especially with this kind of spec, are older, with this kind of spec at this kind of money, right? - [Alex] Walmart actually sells

[05:39] but, instead, they use the AMD Ryzen 5, a 7430U on sale right now for $580. Look how much my deck is flexing,

[05:53] It's very washed out at any kind of angle, right? Should I just crack it open real quick just to see? Do not unplug it under any circumstances.

[06:09] Do not try this at home, to like every cigarette commercial. Whoa, there's a lot of stuff in here.

[06:22] That definitely makes me think this is like an old chassis. Oh, there's no SATA. and give you a bigger battery is kind of sad.

[06:35] Oh, all the whole thing pops up. I got to say, like it's very old school. Well, why don't we get this thing set up and see,

[06:49] All right, so now that our laptop is set up, a few thoughts. If you get it all the way flat, From this distance, I can't see anything at all.

[07:04] This is the kind of laptop that you might want to buy So this is the i3-1315U, which is a six-core chip, I'll be honest, like this is actually,

[07:20] The keyboard is, let's try it here, right up today live. - Um... I think, really, it comes down to this.

[07:34] "Eh, I don't know, not worth it," you can buy for 400 bucks with this kind of spec. - I think so, I think so. - Yeah.

[07:48] So when we were perusing the shelves of Sam's Club, we came across this, a pair of Pioneer wireless headphones. because I've not heard about Pioneer in a long time,

[08:03] They have a number of special features. and they have hybrid active noise cancellation, but they also come with an extra USB-C to A and the dongle.

[08:18] you can plug it into kind of anything. - [Alex] It's like one of those weird numbers. - I love 88 cents.

[08:30] Nothing fancy, but it's nice to have something. (Austin sniffs) Like do I look like a nerd?

[08:43] They remind me of like pilot headphones. I just wanted to find out what it does. Actually, there's quite good like passive isolation.

[08:59] Oh, god, this is actually the mic for your gaming headset. - This looks a lot less cool. - Ooh.

[09:11] Let's run through a series of tests, my friends. Let's just pair this via Bluetooth. Wait, this is, this is, this is...

[09:23] - It sounds like I'm getting talk back from the mic. Okay, so ANC off, that's fine, Uh, this is noise canceling the same way

[09:51] with the 2.4 gigahertz dongle. Theoretically, that will give me (upbeat music)

[10:03] (chill music) So they're not certainly like incredible, which is definitely a knock against, but they sound okay,

[10:17] to see what the mic sounds like. as I'm gaming with my Pioneer Ultra, I mean, How does it sound? - [Laptop] How does it sound?

[10:30] 100 bucks, man, I don't know if I would give them like a resounding like hell yeah, but these aren't bad. and they're just pretty okay.

[10:43] How do y'all feel about audio visual equipment? life's most precious moments? - [Alex] Oh.

[10:55] about your excitement. The idea here is that this is meant to be you'll know that, many years ago,

[11:07] They were great. that someone paid them $33 and slapped it on the box. like smartphone cameras just slapped into a bigger body.

[11:23] 'cause the thing was not cheap. - [Alex] We paid 98 dollars, which is a whole whopping $1 cheaper than retail at other places.

[11:35] 13-megapixel sensor and 1080p video, I've never seen something that little in my life. - From this angle, does it look kinda retro and cool?

[13:39] I don't use a gaming chair. - [Alex] Whoa, whoa, whoa, you have a fancy chair. I stand up in my car.

[13:53] I'm like, "Sitting is bad." but I am a world-renowned deal expert, - Why do I detect some hesitation to your voice, Alex?

[14:09] Depending on where you get it from, it's $350, Is this just your butt print? - [Alex] It does come with gloves, and this like,

[15:20] but you know what, I'll take it. Look, I want to be nice to my dear friends over at Razer. This is a chair that exists, and if we had paid $120 for it.

[15:32] And while I don't think it's like uncomfortable. I don't know why that's a thing that exists. Ah, our AirPods, which are attached to a label of some kind.

[15:46] - [Alex] That is correct, yup. I'm like one of those like ASMR channels like, "Hello, welcome to my unboxing of the AirPods."

[16:00] and I actually do feel like these are pretty good value. - [Alex] I'd say like 130.

[16:12] - [Alex] It was on sale and we got them for $100 or $99. - Oh. in which everybody across the board is having

[16:42] - Costco had AirPods and also had AppleCare included, right? I'm really struggling to think about why you would is cheaper than the membership for Costco.

[16:57] It's $120 a year, but because it was my first year, but I'll be honest, I'm like, I will say these AirPods do sound pretty good.

[17:12] So how do we sum up Sam's Club here? - Cordless scissors? - Yeah. - [Alex] Well, yeah, but this one also is powered.

[17:26] I think it is. - Wait. This means I get to violently shred boxes? - As you might imagine, we accumulate so many boxes.

[17:44] This actually is like a little saw. has a bunch of like individual like divots. I actually have a very nice little display here.
