Sadie Sink is Jean Grey? X-Men Setup!
45sReveals a major fan theory that Sadie Sink's character is Jean Grey and that the movie sets up the X-Men, sparking debate and excitement.
▶ Play ClipThis video provides a detailed breakdown of the second trailer for 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', analyzing hidden clues, character connections, and potential plot points. The analysis suggests that Sadie Sink's character is likely Jean Grey, and the film may serve as an unofficial first entry into the MCU's mutant saga, setting up the X-Men.
The trailer reveals Sadie Sink is likely playing Jean Grey, and the movie seems to directly set up the X-Men, potentially being the unofficial first film of the mutant saga.
The trailer opens with Spider-Man fighting Mac Gargan (Scorpion), who has a grudge against both Spider-Man and J. Jonah Jameson. Gargan's suit may use leftover Chitauri or Endgame tech.
Shots inside Spider-Man's mask highlight his isolation and loneliness, contrasting with Iron Man's helmet shots that showed emotion.
Peter's mutation is worsening, causing increased aggression. This parallels Bruce Banner's struggle with the Hulk and Frank Castle's violent nature.
The film adapts the 'Brand New Day' comic storyline where Peter's marriage to Mary Jane is erased. In the MCU, Peter has been alone for four years, focusing solely on being Spider-Man.
Peter develops organic webbing, a new mutation. This could be due to his attempts to cure himself or exposure to neogenic radiation, setting up the mutant saga.
Bruce Banner uses a device to suppress the Hulk, but the savage Hulk breaks free. Both Peter and Banner struggle with uncontrollable transformations.
Peter gradually loses control of his powers, similar to 'Spider-Man 2'. He crashes into a wedding, possibly John Jameson's, linking to the Man-Wolf storyline.
Damage Control, a government agency, polices superheroes. Tramell Tillman may play a character who hates mutants, setting up the Department of Mutant Affairs.
Sadie Sink's red hair and secrecy suggest she is Jean Grey. Her mind control powers may be used by the Shadow King or another villain.
Ned is obsessed with Spider-Man, possibly due to residual memories from the mind wipe. He uses tech to track Spider-Man, closing in on Peter's identity.
Peter brings MJ to Frank Castle (Punisher) for protection, as Frank is immune to mind control. Their adversarial relationship highlights differing methods.
The Hand, a ninja cult, attacks Rikers Island prison, possibly to assassinate Matt Murdock (Daredevil). They may circumvent Spider-Man's spider-sense.
Matt Murdock appears in the prison fight, helping Spider-Man against the Hand. This confirms Daredevil's role in the film.
The trailer sets up major storylines including Peter's mutation, the return of the savage Hulk, and the introduction of mutants like Jean Grey. The film appears to be a pivotal entry that bridges the Multiverse Saga and the upcoming mutant saga.
"The title accurately promises X-Men Easter eggs and a breakdown, which the video delivers with detailed analysis."

24:33[00:01] have missed in the second trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Welcome back ScreenCrush. I'm Ryan Arey and this trailer is packed with new reveals and you later in the breakdown. There's evidence in this trailer that Sadie Sink
[00:13] is definitely playing Jean Grey and more importantly the events of this movie seem to be directly setting up the X-Men. We might even look back and say that Brand New Day was the unofficial first film of the mutant saga, kind of
[00:26] Infinity Saga and the Multiverse Saga. The trailer opens with Spider-Man fighting Mac Gargan, aka the Scorpion. Now in the comics Gargan started off as a petty hood, but then J. Jonah Jameson paid for him to get a scorpion suit to
[00:39] hunt down Spider-Man. Very long story short. So for years afterwards the Scorpion wanted revenge on both Spider-Man and Jameson. Gargan was also He was on the Staten Island ferry when
[00:51] gnarly facial scar. In the post-credit scene of the movie he pressed Adrian Toomes for his secret identity. >> And I heard a rumor you know who he is. >> And then we saw the scorpion tattoo teasing that he would appear as the
[01:04] super villain. And now finally, almost 10 years later, he's finally back. I'm he is using for his suit. In Spider-Man: Homecoming Adrian Toomes and the Shocker got their tech from leftover Chitauri tech from the Battle of New York. This
[01:17] could be more of this technology that's floating around, but it could have also been technology that was recovered from the final battle in Avengers: Endgame. black market auction that was selling items that were recovered from that
[01:30] swinging out of control and smashing through signs while the Scorpion watches. Now we have already seen lots of the opening montage where Peter fights different super villains over the years. So maybe that montage ends with
[01:42] control of his powers. >> What is happening to me? >> Did you miss me, Spidey? >> And I should note that Gargan is played most of you probably know from Better Call Saul. Then we cut to inside of
[01:56] Spider-Man's mask as we saw in the first trailer. I love these shots. Like in the Iron Man movies, we always see inside the helmet as a way to like see the emotions playing out on Tony Stark's face. It was a brilliant move to
[02:09] screen. But these shots, instead of highlighting Peter's emotions, are simply highlighting his loneliness. The mask and his responsibilities as Spider-Man are isolating him from the rest of the world. All we get to see is
[02:22] a single eyeball, which makes him even look a little unsettling and less human, we'll talk about as we go along. And here, finally, Spider-Man hits a >> I'm losing my mind. >> And then suddenly, he's the guy with the
[02:35] what normally happens when Gargan chokes Spider-Man, like for instance we saw in animated series. And then we get the setup for the plot. >> I am totally out of control. I got to fix whatever this is right now.
[02:48] >> This line, along with other clues, hints that Spider-Man initiates his mutation throughout the movie, or at least he makes his mutation worse. Now, it's interesting that Peter is so aggressive in this fight. This could be because of
[03:00] his mutation, but maybe he's also just getting frustrated at his life and becoming more violent. This also creates an interesting parallel with two of his co-stars. Bruce Banner has been fighting to repress the violent nature of the
[03:12] violent life as the Punisher. We could see Peter caught between the push-pull between these two forces throughout the entire film. Notice that inside the mask, his eyes have turned black like they do later in the prison fight. This
[03:25] is likely because his mutation is making him more spider-like and maybe causing him to be more aggressive. And to show how out of control he is, he accidentally flips the scorpion onto a moving cop car, which might also lead to
[03:37] damage control trying to reel in superhumans like Spider-Man. A synopsis of the film released to Chinese outlets included the line that Spider-Man is ties in well with the comic book storyline Brand New Day. So, in the
[03:50] comics, Peter married Mary Jane in the late 1980s. Their marriage was mostly happy, which means that it was harder for writers to create Spider-Man a supermodel, so it's really hard for teenage boys to feel sorry for him. So,
[04:03] Marvel made the controversial decision to erase their marriage. J. Michael makes a deal with Mephisto. If the demon saves Aunt May's life, Peter's marriage has to be erased from existence. It was, honestly, a pretty lame retcon, but the
[04:18] MCU partially adapted it in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In that movie, Peter, of everybody's memory in order to save reality. And from what we've seen, Peter has spent the time since then fully involved in his life as Spider-Man and

[06:26] "Because I'm not just Peter Parker, I'm Spider-Man. And sometimes Spider-Man has Peter Parker's heart. Maybe that's my responsibility to live alone with the Spider-Man's origin slowly playing out over the course of these first four
[06:42] initially jazzed to be a superhero. >> I am so far beyond high school right >> But then, being Spider-Man got in the way of his personal life. First, when he then when his European vacation was ruined by a supervillain. And then
[06:56] the personal loss that defines the character. >> And with great power, there must also come great responsibility. >> The first Raimi Spider-Man movie ends with Peter sacrificing his own happiness
[07:09] similar to the ending of No Way Home. Remember, at the end of that movie, because he thinks that she is better off without him. But in this movie, I'm betting that Sadie Sink's telepathic character will help MJ remember, and
[07:23] Spider-Man 2, where Peter and MJ are together, and Peter starts to prioritize his personal life once again. In other Peter Parker. >> That that There it is. There it is.
[07:36] Ned's social video. >> Final semester at >> Which confirms the time jump in the movie. Peter has been all alone for 4 years, focusing just on his life as Spider-Man. Also, MJ and Ned have MIT
[07:50] lot more useful to Spider-Man's crime-fighting antics. In fact, Peter is using a device later on that I bet was built by Ned. went to the future and then came back and knew how to play guitar.
[08:03] >> Excellent! >> Exactly. High five. Now, when Ned says someone is watching, MJ makes this sad comment. >> It's just a brilliant line because it's acknowledging that to her, that's who
[08:15] Peter Parker is. He's not her boyfriend. He's just someone that she used to know. make it like it never happened. >> Actually, she did because of the memory spell. But he did promise to come find
[08:27] And I'll explain everything. >> And when finally she does remember, I wonder if she's going to be angry at him for not coming to find her sooner. And that his web shooters aren't just on the outside of his costume, they attach
[08:41] they're under his sleeves, but they don't bulge out, so they kind of become space. I think this makes a lot more sense in a movie because otherwise we his web shooters underneath his sleeves. And then
[08:56] Peter uses organic webbing to accidentally shoot his web across the >> So, in the comics, Peter always used web shooters, just like we see in the MCU. But back in the '90s, when James Cameron was developing a Spider-Man film, he
[09:09] shooters, which in his excellent script was part of the metaphor of puberty that we will not discuss further. >> Ah, yes, like silly string. Hilarious. >> Now, the Raimi films adapted the organic webbing, and rightly it freaked out Tom
[09:22] >> Like, does it just come out of your wrists, or does it come out of anywhere >> And now Peter has suddenly developed this ability on his own. Now, there could be a few reasons for his sudden mutation. In The Amazing Spider-Man
[09:34] issue 200, Peter tried to cure himself of being Spider-Man and accidentally grew more arms. In the animated series, he was exposed to neogenic radiation that caused him to mutate and eventually turn into a giant spider. That arc also
[09:47] their help. But I don't want to be a freak. Which, again, I think this movie is setting up the mutant saga and they could be drawing from that aspect of the you guys that if you're X-Men fans, we have tons of X-Men and Spider-Man parody
[10:01] merch at our merch store, including Doug pointing at his doppelganger, the bonesaw versus the human spider, the remember it tribute to Gambit, X-Men in print you can buy, by the way, and I'm about to make a name for myself, and

[10:26] this is all adding up to the idea that Peter is undergoing a mutation in this movie. Now, the idea of Peter mutating could also be setting up a key aspect of the MCU's mutant saga, like Charles Xavier said in the opening narration.
[10:38] evolution. >> The last trailer also featured narration >> And for those spiders who make it through, it amounts to a kind of >> And a lot of fans have speculated that he is actually playing Miles Warren, the
[10:53] geneticist professor of Peter Parker who became the villain the Jackal. Now, genetics and cloning, which is why he would be a perfect fit in a movie that is about Peter needing help with his mutating DNA. But also notice Peter's
[11:06] apartment we see a chamber behind him that looks a lot like this scanning device we saw in the last trailer. So, maybe all of this is Peter's fault. He suppressing his mutation, but instead, he ended up augmenting his mutation,
[11:19] memory spell in No Way Home. >> That little spell that you botched where Parker Spider-Man, it started pulling in >> He >> actually think he'd know better by now.
[11:32] appeared in Spider-Man Homecoming, these two have never actually met. >> And this trailer finally reveals more about the role of the Hulk in the movie. A new synopsis was released a few days ago and it reads, "Bruce Banner uses an
[11:46] form since the events of Endgame. But this restraint has its limits." The film marks the return of the Hulk in savage form, breaking away from the smart Hulk Parker, both struggling with an uncontrollable transformation, find
[12:01] themselves on parallel journeys at the heart of the film. Now, in case you fight against the Hulk. >> I'm exposed. Like a nerve. It's a >> But after the blip, >> I put the brains and the brawn together.
[12:14] >> Smart Hulk, of course, pulled off the snap to bring everybody back and in Shang-Chi and the show She-Hulk, he was in human form and wearing an >> You know, I made this little device which keeps me in human form.
[12:27] Banner never really combined his personality with the Hulk. Instead, he suppressed the monster. Or maybe, like in the comics, he just created a new personality that replaced Banner and the Hulk. I think the snap reawakened the
[12:40] Hulk from his nap and now he's pissed that Banner hid him away for so long. I mean, hell, Banner actually knows exactly how he feels. Hulk and I each had a hand on the wheel, but this time it's like he had the keys
[12:53] trunk. >> So, this makes Bruce Banner a perfect character for Peter's storyline that we see in this movie and in this trailer. So, we theorized in this video that Banner's power suppression technology,
[13:05] She-Hulk, could eventually become the mutant control collars that dampen from Deadpool 2. But as for right now, he doesn't seem to be too worried about this and he even jokes about his powers. >> If you see me with this stuff, run.
[13:20] >> This is also similar to this roar in Age of Ultron when he was pretending to try to lift the hammer, BUT NOBODY LAUGHED. >> [screaming] >> [screaming] [groaning]
[13:34] level of gamma radiation that it is now suppressing. This is also similar to the heart rate monitor that Edward Norton wore in The Incredible Hulk. Notice that fictional Empire State University. That's the Marvel stand-in for Columbia
[13:48] or in the Spider-Man games NYU. And Peter dropped out of the school in the Reed Richards, and Doctor Doom all attended school as well. And then we see Peter gradually losing control of his powers. Now this is similar to
[14:01] Spider-Man 2 when Peter's doubts led to his powers fading away. Here he's being swarmed by pigeons, which reminds me of one really sweet mission in the 2018 Spider-Man game when you help a homeless man track down all of his pigeons. Peter
[14:13] loses control and crashes through a water tower into a fancy wedding, which reporting on. Hell, I actually think J. like the crowd is watching someone give a speech and it could be Jameson
[14:26] speaking at his son's wedding. Again, making another similarity to this movie and Raimi Spider-Man 2. There's another clue that this is a Jameson affair a when Peter asks if he could keep the good or bad aspects, Banner answers,
[14:39] nature are good or bad? >> Now the trailer makes it seem like Peter is talking about himself. Maybe he wants to be rid of his spider powers to avoid the responsibility that he talks to May about a bit later. Or maybe he's asking
[14:52] character. As we see later in the trailer, it does look like she is mind maybe she's not. We have theories on that. So maybe Peter just wants to dampen her powers temporarily in order to apprehend her for damage control. And
[15:06] you? >> Now I'm curious if Peter was able to actually go to college. At the end of No Way Home, we see this book which makes us think he's studying for his GED. But in the comics, he had to drop out of ESU
[15:18] earning a living were getting in the way of his grades. Dropping out broke his nice to see her become proud of him when he became a scientist. And then we get a shot of this big action sequence that we first saw from onset photos in Glasgow.
[15:33] is owned by damage control, but it's being piloted by someone who is think that this trailer is trying to trick us into thinking that Sadie Sink fact it'll turn out that someone else is manipulating her. I mentioned Miles
[15:48] for cloning, and in the comics there's a villainous clone of Jean Grey called Madeline Pryor. Just saying, may not be a coincidence. Or the someone who is be Tramell Tillman's character, who is a director of damage control. Now wait,
[16:02] what's the damage control? So damage control is a government agency that used to clean up after superhero battles, but now instead they police superheroes. and they have that supermax prison in California, where they were holding the
[16:15] Abomination and Trevor Slattery. It's rumored that Tramell Tillman is playing X-Men comics who is known for hating mutants and wanting to bring them under to Sadie Sink in this movie. >> It appears we're faced [music] with a
[16:28] One we can't even see. >> He says that Spider-Man seems to be the control. >> You're the only one who's immune to it. who Sadie Sink is playing, but all the secrecy and her red hair have a lot of
[16:42] us speculating that she is playing your mom. Or if not, she could be playing the X-Man Jean Grey. Marvel Studios only reacquired the film rights to the X-Men in 2018, and they have been reintroducing them to their cinematic
[16:54] universe very, very slowly. It seems like they wanted to give the original team a swan song in Avengers Doomsday before reinterpreting the characters with a younger cast for the proper MCU X-Men. Now you add all of this up and it
[17:06] Damage Control is going to someday be renamed the Department of Mutant is Sadie Sink's character in a hood the last trailer. But now we can tell that this looks like the same room where
[17:20] Peter was fitting on his web shooters earlier. So, maybe Sadie Sink has found Peter's loft apartment. Note the skyline in the back, so Peter could easily web sling from his room just like he does in the comics. And there's also been a toy
[17:32] energy like Jean Grey does in the comics. But sometimes toy leaks do get leader from Brave New World. Then the damage control vehicle flips followed by a hospital judging by people in lab coats and scrubs. This could be where
[17:47] Peter was conducting experiments on himself or maybe Sadie Sink was being held here and she is escaping. And this is followed by a wave of energy coming where Spider-Man fought the Green Goblin
[17:59] in Spider-Man 1. I should also note that in the comics and in the video games, Rikers Island sits and that is the prison where Spider-Man fights the hand video. Now, the trailer definitely makes it seems like this is where the mind
[18:12] control is emanating from like maybe Sadie Sink is headquartered on the in Rikers Island. We see more of the party that Peter crashes into with guests being frozen in place. The camera then whip pans to follow the mind
[18:25] into other bodies. And notice the helicopter reads just married John and Lucy. The John in question could be John Jameson, the son of Jonah, who appeared in Spider-Man 2. In the comics, John was an astronaut who went to the moon,
[18:39] touched a crystal, and then became the Man-Wolf. Now, in Amazing Spider-Man 1, Spider-Man saves John's rocket, which actually only makes J. Jonah Jameson double down on hating the wall crawler. The same thing could be happening here.
[18:51] I should note by the way that this like hopping from body to body power is the Shadow King. He was also the villain in the excellent show Legion season 1 and it could also be that he is inhabiting Jean's body and making her do all of
[19:04] these things. Either way, if Jean is being manipulated, the public wouldn't mutants as a whole, which would then lead to further funding of Damage power within the government. And, like we saw in the show Wonderman, Damage
[19:18] funding and power. Notice that Peter is able to see a pathway that goes from helicopter. I'm thinking that Peter has new tech that can be used to track the energy signature of the mind controller,
[19:31] but it's not as sophisticated or slick as the Stark tech from his previous actually created by Ned. And then we find out that Ned is obsessed with Spider-Man. This could be because the memory eraser spell didn't fully work on
[19:45] have a touch of a magical gift, so maybe that mind wipe couldn't fully erase his memories. So, he's been tracking Spider-Man across the city trying to work out who he really is. Notice right here he suspects a parkour prodigy. We
[19:58] also see that he's written notes about Spider-Man's height, noting that he has a Queens accent. It also says first appearance 2016, the year that Captain America: Civil War was released. So, Peter's first outings as Spider-Man in
[20:10] Republic shortly before this when he was popping up in YouTube clips. So, he's closing in on Peter Parker. This article also mentions Carlos Rodriguez, who is a comics and he's part of a gang called the Y-Man. Then he's cornered when Ned
[20:23] finds out that he doesn't actually know MJ. I'm MJ. You two don't know each other? Peter probably pretended to know her to break wouldn't surprise me if they kicked Peter out of the party directly after
[20:35] this. So, now he can't even start over and make friends with them all over again. We see a shot of MJ with her boyfriend played by Aman Adofo who you might know as Ezra from the show Ahsoka. Notice that on this table we also see a
[20:47] part of some gear that Ned is working on in his efforts to track down get a quick shot of an off-screen explosion of webs in an alley, showing that Peter is having trouble controlling his new web-slinging abilities. Then we
[21:00] controlling people, but is also a telepath who can read Peter's thoughts. >> You >> get rid of that monster inside you, >> This is intercut with Peter holding what looks like a tracking device similar to
[21:15] he can attach to enemies and track them down with his spider sense. In this case, I'm betting that this device was invented by Ned and MJ. Sony has even used this idea for marketing, releasing a Spidey tracker website that in
[21:28] universe was created by its CEO, Ned Leeds. This is also similar to the Sony games in Miles' friend Genke created the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man app to report crimes. In game, it's a resource for playing side quests. Like we see
[21:40] released by Empire, Spider-Man does introduce himself to MJ and maybe he has know-how. In fact, maybe after Peter is awkward at the party, his only chance to up as Spider-Man. Back in the same lab from earlier, Peter creeps in as we see
[21:56] that the puddle is vibrating like the glasses of water in Jurassic Park, teasing that the Hulk is nearby. This is now cracked and broken. Sorry person,
[22:08] front of the computer monitors that we saw in the first trailer and then we get speaks through Bruce Banner. >> But he might. >> This means that Banner was also in this lab, maybe trying to help Spider-Man get
[22:21] control of his abilities or to neutralize them. And then they let out the Savage Hulk. But is the villain mind controlling the Hulk or is he finally free of his mental prison that Banner has kept him in for almost a decade.
[22:33] Also, he looks more gray, his original color in the comics, which could be the comics, the gray Hulk returned in the Incredible Hulk issue 324 when he bouncer in Vegas. That's part of the great run by Peter David and Todd
[22:48] concussion clap as we saw in the Incredible Hulk movie and it was also one of my favorite moves in the 2003 Hulk game. So, Peter storms into MJ's >> Your intentions just have to trust me. >> And then we get to see them web-slinging
[23:01] and the start of No Way Home. And you have to think, this is Peter's worst nightmare. He decided to stay away from MJ when he saw the cut on her forehead. He decided that she and Ned would be safer without him, and as soon as he
[23:14] they're now immediately in danger. So, he brings her to Frank Castle, who protected another young girl, Amy, in season 2 of his kick-ass Netflix series. and Frank have this somewhat adversarial relationship where Peter probably
[23:28] doesn't approve of his methods, but to protect MJ, Peter needs a killer. And bunker, which is totally off the grid. Note the paper Filofax and the analog cassette tape. I should also mention that earlier in the trailer, we see that
[23:41] Frank is also unaffected by mind control, which is how Peter knows that MJ would be safe with him. And then we see Peter falling, and I think this is a about just before he wakes up in the cocoon that we saw in trailer one. And
[23:54] then, Aunt May starts to narrate. >> This whole thing can get really scary, because you're you. >> Now, I wonder if this is a flashback to something she said before, or if Peter is like talking to her memory, like when
[24:06] he spoke to Uncle Ben in Spider-Man 2. In that movie, he was apologizing to Ben >> I'm just Peter Parker. [music] I'm Spider-Man. >> The narration ends with >> No matter how powerful you become.
[24:20] >> Hinting that as Peter's power mutates, he is growing in strength. But, with that greater power comes an even greater responsibility to control and use that talking to her grave, which has the same inscription as May's grave in the PS4
[24:33] game, when you help someone, you help everyone. And then we go to the prison the Hand is a ninja cult created by Frank Miller in the Daredevil comics. The TLDR is that they worship a mythical beast, and they can bring their people
[24:46] of their former selves. They are in a centuries-long war against a group Daredevil in their fight against the Hand. The Hand were the villains in they will be the villains in Born Again season 3. Now, I think the reason the
[25:00] Hand attacked this prison, Rikers Island, is specifically because this is currently incarcerated. The Hand also appeared in one of the Spider-Man Empire covers from a few weeks ago. But remember, there's another MCU connection
[25:13] to the Hand. During the Blip, Hawkeye, dressed as Ronin, went on a killing spree that included wiping out the Yakuza. So, maybe Hawkeye's brutal actions wiping out the Yakuza underworld left a power vacuum that the Hand were
[25:25] able to fill. I mean, the last time we saw the Hand in The Defenders, they were would explain how they're able to return in this movie in full force. Now, in presenting Spider-Man with a genuine challenge. Maybe they possess a level of
[25:39] actual fighting skill that he is not used to matching. In one of the Empire stills, Peter has a ninja star in his arm. And notice that we see them whip get behind him. Maybe the Hand are able to circumvent his spider-sense the same
[25:52] heartbeats in season 2. But here's the thing, he might not be looking at ninjas. It could be that the Hand are in prison to assassinate Matt Murdock. At the end of Daredevil Born Again season 2, spoiler alert, he said this.
[26:06] >> Then he was arrested for his crimes. So, I think that the Hand have come to kill Matt. And later on, we see Peter in this fight without his mask looking beaten. Murdock springs from his cell to help. Then he goes to town against the ninjas
