The presenter critiques a horse blog's current social media activity and demonstrates how to repurpose blog content into platform-native Reels, emphasizing interaction and value.

[00:01]
The Challenge of Blog Traffic

Many bloggers are suffering from declining traffic and need to rethink their business model beyond just ad revenue.

[01:49]
Rethinking the Blog Business

Instead of focusing on volume, treat the blog as a real business by offering valuable content that earns a better income.

[02:30]
Social Media Audit

The blog's social media profiles (Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter) show low engagement and need improvement.

[03:28]
Reels Over Static Images

Reels perform better than static images for reaching new audiences; static posts often look like stock photos.

[04:08]
Pinterest Strategy

Avoid pinning the same image multiple times; each pin should be unique with different text overlays.

[04:47]
Two-Part Social Media Strategy

1) Participate actively in industry groups to build reputation. 2) Repurpose existing blog content into platform-specific social media posts.

[06:38]
Repurposing Content for Reels

Take blog post information and recreate it as a short, engaging video with text overlays, using curiosity and relatability.

[08:32]
Example Reel Creation

From a blog post about horse endurance, extract key facts (50-100 miles per day, lung capacity) and create a 13-second reel with stock video and text.

[13:10]
Include URL and Comments

Place the blog post URL in the video description and encourage comments to drive engagement and traffic.

[14:21]
E-A-T and Legitimacy

Ensure the website shows expertise, authority, and trustworthiness (E-A-T) by presenting itself as a legitimate business.

Effective social media marketing requires creating content native to each platform, engaging with the community, and repurposing blog content strategically. By doing so, bloggers can significantly increase their reach and traffic.

E-A-T Importance

Stresses that Google favors legitimate, authoritative websites over generic informational sites.

14:21

[00:01] changing the way we interact with each other with information it's all changing other with information it's all changing all the can be difficult to try to figure out the best path forward right now if

[00:16] you're using blog content to try to make a living you're probably suffering most are that is an incredibly discouraging situation to be in and it leaves you

[00:28] questioning what are we going to do about it I've been working on a website for one of our members for a few weeks now so in a couple of other videos we've covered things like one just kind of a general overview of what's going on what

[00:41] the site's looking like the traffic that it's lost and some highle things that I felt like I could do uh to try to improve it in another video we went through the ads on that website and you know looking at it right now I still

[00:54] think there's probably too many ads but we were able to dramatically reduce the number of ads to make it a better user experience to try to keep people on the pages longer that kind of stuff and in the process of doing so we found that

[01:07] the income from ads on the website while it did come down a little bit it actually helped improve the traffic situation so the earnings per view or per thousand views is how they measure it went down but the overall earnings

[01:20] went down a bit less than that so it seems to have had the impact that we wanted but it's still not leading to a whole bunch more traffic improve the internal linking especially in the top blog posts but frankly Lucy

[01:37] who owns this website she'd already done a pretty good job of that so that begs the question what is wrong with this website that Google is not showing it and honestly I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with it but

[01:49] that doesn't mean that we should just leave it alone we need to figure out what it is that's going to help make this work better and I think what that is is a mixture of a couple things but the main thing is it means

[02:02] rethinking this whole business it can't just be a matter of volume let's get the most people on here as possible and get a few Pennies from each one we need to think of our blog as a real business and think about the best things that we can

[02:15] offer to the audience that we're creating with our content and H you know what value can I provide to them that's going to in turn earn me a better income so for this website today I want to talk about another strategy that we could use

[02:30] to help boost the traffic to this website but mostly to this brand in order to be able to make more income in that pretty passive way now when we look at the site we can see that she does have a Facebook we're going to open

[02:43] these up a Pinterest an Instagram and a Twitter this is something a lot of Twitter this is something a lot of bloggers do and this is not working look at this uh Facebook basically every post is essentially a sentence with a link to

[02:58] hashtags and stuff that's that's better than if we were to just post a link to that very many people are going to engage with let's look at the page itself it has 2600 followers but like no engagement let's look at the Instagram

[03:13] all right these are images that are just from the blog now my issue with this is they basically a lot of them just look like stock photos and they probably are and images are just far less engaging than video content what I'm finding for

[03:28] reaching new people is that reals are going to do a lot better than posting images you've got your url here but it's not a link because Instagram doesn't do hashtags again we're we're getting a little more engagement here so that's

[03:41] good because Instagram is a highly sort of visual platform but I think we could do a lot better what about Pinterest I have some concerns here you got four pins in a row right here that to me they look identical they're the same image

[03:56] the same words so they're the exact same pin being pinned multiple times we don't want to be doing that actually we want each pin to be unique even if you're going to use the same photo put different words on it in each one then

[04:08] pins in fact we have a new course within project 24 it's been out for just a few project 24 it's been out for just a few months that shows a better way exactly putting here where you should be pinning how often you should be pinning all that

[04:21] kind of stuff and I think that would really help here what about on Twitter again it's the same thing right but what I'm not seeing very much of on any of these platforms is very much engagement with other people and other

[04:34] people engaging with your content we want to see more of that social media profiles need to be pretty active to be very effective so let's talk a little bit about social media strategy there's two things that we're going to talk

[04:47] about today that I'd really love for you to do the first one is participating in your industry on social media so let's go back to Facebook there've got to be go back to Facebook there've got to be tons of horse related groups on Facebook

[05:00] so why don't we go to groups and search and just find some now you can look for fit for you they could be ones that are more local to where you live so you could participate with those people not only digitally virtually but also in

[05:14] person see I'm getting some here that are very much like local they you know 14,000 members but then you can also find other groups that are not necessarily based on location but are based on a specific aspect of horses

[05:27] maybe horse breeding or if you're not in a horse breed maybe it's wor training that kind of stuff join these groups and then go participate in those groups answer people's questions ask questions do some polls ask people for pictures

[05:42] and tell them hey I do create content for a website I'm a social media person um I would love to get your input I want to know of all of you who have horses and then just ask your question and just get like your own data from

[05:57] your own group of people but likewise you're going to go into those groups and people are asking and you're just going to be helpful doing this is going to help improve your reputation if you can do this as your page your actual

[06:11] Facebook page for your brand that's great but not all groups let pages into their groups so you might also need to do this from a personal account um with time you're going to be you're going to have lots of opportunities to

[06:25] going to show people that you're knowledgeable and help now we don't have hours every day most of us to spend just hanging out in of us to spend just hanging out in Facebook groups so what else can we do

[06:38] the other thing that I love to do is to take content we've already created and repurpose that content for social media now what that doesn't look like is this social media what this actually looks like when it's done successfully is

[06:53] taking the information or something that we've already created and then recrating it for each social media platform in a way that's really effective on that for a minute on Instagram I mean you've got all these horses but let me just go

[07:07] got all these horses but let me just go to a general is kind of you know a meme style you know here I'm getting a video but notice

[07:22] what's in each of these now I'm like a lot of people I'm looking at social of people when they're scrolling through social media in a public place they don't want to scroll past a video and have that video autoplay and suddenly

[07:35] either having their headphones in or they're listening to it muted which is why we put the words on the screen look at this here's an image that's showing me kind of the skeletal and muscular structure of a horse and look at the

[07:49] amount of information that's here it's not a lot but it's more than what we got featured image of a blog post but a lot of these images that are doing well and the videos that are doing well they have a point to the image there's something

[08:04] that's being taught or shared or even just like a point being made uh even if it's just like an opinion point being made or you know maybe it's kind of silliness whatever it is but you're showcasing something specific with the

[08:18] image or with the video now there are a lot that are just you know there's just photos and stuff but there's a lot that show something interesting or something different not just like a stock image of of horses even just something as simple

[08:32] as this taking your image and then putting something on there that comes from like your blog post and then they just put their website name right there some really good things that work really well on social media is one finding

[08:46] something that is very relatable like like this be kind to everyone you never know who lost a battle with a May today that's very relatable to other horse people and so when somebody gets that they're going to feel that connection

[08:59] they're going to feel like oh yeah I get that and they get me as well but another thing is to provide them with some element of curiosity some element of intrigue and then a promise to sort of fulfill that through the content and

[09:11] that works really well with reals so let me show you an example here's something your content you've got a blog post here about horses having endurance how far can they run without stopping and you've got a lot of really good information um

[09:25] they can run at a steady Pace covering 50 miles in a single day that's not part but I'm sure that's within the article somewhere as well and then you're saying that you know a trained horse can run up to 100 miles in a day

[09:38] that a lot of people aren't going to know but that's going to be again kind of interesting so what can we do with that I think we should make an Instagram real you can post this on Instagram and your Facebook it's going to go in both

[09:53] places but let's go ahead and make that real and we're going to do it right now going to want to include in here one how far they can actually go which you've got that 50 Mi up to 100 miles and then um further down as I was looking through

[10:07] here you got some good information here about if they're walking or tring how far they can go 20 to 35 miles without stopping uh even Galloping they can run for a mile or two without any sort of a break so there's that answer to the the

[10:19] main question you've got all these other things that impact how far they can run breeds I don't think we're going to cover nearly all of that I think we're information about how far they can run in a day and a little bit about why I

[10:34] really liked this here about their lungs and how they have over nine times what humans have in terms of lung capacity and that their heart are around 10 times more oxygen more quickly through their body giving them better endurance I

[10:49] we can include here in this re so next I'd like to get some imagery of horses running now you have some photos here we could use you can use photos we could have a little bit of movement in the editing but it'll be better if we use

[11:05] actual video so I'm just going to find some kind of stock video here um and are just going to show horses running I think there's some pretty cool little open up my editor okay I've got my editor open I'm going to pull in a few

[11:20] video clips all right we'll start with uh this one now notice I've made it I've my project here is vertical so I'll make

[11:32] this bigger so it fills like the whole space and I don't want most of this clip mostly just want the part where they start running this whole entire reel is only going to be a like 10 seconds long maybe

[11:47] so let's go ahead and throw in this one a wider view cut it there I'll make that full siid that's like it right this whole thing is only 13 seconds long and that's

[12:03] we're going to do is we're going to put in a little bit of a text overlay and editing that you want to use you probably use like cap cut or whatever whatever's easy for you all right it's really like this simple so here's what

[12:16] we're doing we're starting off with a letting them see right off the bat that there's something coming that they probably don't know and then there's an interesting fact and then we're saying oh but there's more I'm going to tell

[12:30] you more in the comments go check that out so some percentage of people what look at the comet down below while the video continues to play and they're the comment you can write a whole bunch more no we're not going to write the

[12:44] going to do is say something like most horses can run only about 50 m in a day it takes real training to get an endurance horse up to 100 miles the reason horses can run so far though is because they have huge lungs and a huge

[12:58] those details it's interesting facts and that's about it oh the other thing that we're going to do here though is we're going to put your

[13:10] comments as well as in the video description you can put the URL over to this actual article we'll just go ahead and put it there no big deal now I'm not saying just go do this and try to trick

[13:22] people into watching your reals over and over and over again but what I am saying is what we have to do as marketers is we have to find people where they are if what a lot of people are doing today is consuming information as well as

[13:35] entertainment content in small doses today on their phones right we're consuming it in small doses and we're liking and engaging with things that we like that we come across in our social media experience and if that's the case

[13:51] then we need to create content that caters to those platforms so that those we're going to do with horse Factbook we're going to try to work on doing social media in a way that social media is intended and using the types of

[14:07] tactics and strategies that are working on social media and they're working people like we have to create the kind of content that people want to interact with both on our website as well as on social media there is one more thing

[14:21] that's missing from this website there's a fair amount of eat stuff that I would include this footer doesn't do anything for the eat frankly we we want to do a few things that show that this website is a legitimate website produced by a

[14:37] legitimate person or organization and so once again we need to start thinking of this and treating this as a business there's a whole video that covers that topic in a lot more detail I published it on this channel where I interviewed

[14:50] Kyle roof and we talked about a few specific things that are going to really specific things that are going to really help with the eat and just sending the you're legitimate legitimacy of your business is one of the most important

[15:04] things in this day and age Google does not seem to want to send traffic to purely informational sites that could have been created by anybody so make have been created by anybody so make yourself look like a real entity be a

[15:17] help you too wow we covered a lot of stuff in this video we're talking about changing our business model but mostly we talked about social media and I'm not saying that that one thing on Instagram is the thing that's going to make the

[15:31] make the difference is using social media in the way that it's intended to be used creating the content that people like engaging with on that platform do that and you're going to be a much more successful content creator I'm confident

[15:44] in saying that and I think that's going to wrap up the horse website as far as this YouTube channel goes I am going to be working on my own website in some future videos and I'm going to be revealing that to you here very shortly

[15:57] going to be able to do a whole bunch more because it's my own site and so I can actually go do all this stuff I don't I don't have horses and I I can't go create a bunch of business stuff for Lucy on her website unfortunately so

[16:10] the nitty-gritty here in the coming weeks and I hope you'll join me for that weeks and I hope you'll join me for that we'll see you there
