▶ Play ClipThis video is a review of 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' featuring guests from Star Wars Explained. The panel discusses the film's strengths and weaknesses, balancing enjoyment of its fun, pulpy nature with criticisms about its lack of substance, character development, and pacing.
Alex and Molly were surprised by how much they liked the movie, finding it more fun than expected despite low expectations and criticisms about lack of substance.
The movie is described as 'Star Wars comfort food'—fun and silly but not healthy for the franchise if every movie were like it.
The hosts discuss having two internal perspectives: the analytical critic and the fan who just enjoys the experience.
Tommy felt the movie didn't pull him into the world; he enjoyed Grogu's cuteness but didn't care about what happened next.
The panel argues that Din Djarin shouldn't have been the protagonist; Grogu should have been, with a role reversal where Grogu saves Din.
Alex criticizes the helmet rule, feeling it stagnates Din's character and that the show missed an opportunity for meaningful character development.
Rada (the Hutt) had the best character development, moving from seeking fame to working for the New Republic, which resonated more than Din's arc.
The movie felt like a theme park ride or video game, with moments that are fun in the moment but leave viewers unsatisfied when piecing together the narrative.
The movie felt like four 30-minute chunks of a TV show, suggesting it was originally designed as a series.
The arena fight scene felt small in scale compared to similar scenes in other films, and the CGI was criticized.
The Djaric fight (creature battle) was a highlight, evoking joy and nostalgia, like dumping out Star Wars action figures.
The scene with Grogu meditating and getting water was praised for its color grading, shot composition, and emotional resonance.
The Hutt twins' lair with slithering slug-like Huts expanded Hutt lore in a satisfying, seedy way.
The scene where Din tries to teach Grogu to fly the ship, with Grogu's mischievousness, perfectly captured the humor and dynamic between the characters.
Rada's arc from distancing himself from his father to working for the New Republic was the most compelling character development in the movie.
The opening credits were criticized for breaking Star Wars tradition; the panel suggests using narration or a crawl instead.
The movie broke several Star Wars traditions (no crawl, no lightsabers, no 'I have a bad feeling about this'), possibly to lessen pressure on the next film.
The panel prefers a fourth season over a movie, as The Mandalorian's episodic format suits TV better than film.
The panel largely enjoyed 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' as a fun, comfort-food experience but found it lacking in substance and character development. They recommend seeing it in theaters and hope for a return to the episodic format for future stories.
"Title accurately promises a review with Star Wars Explained; the video delivers exactly that."
What analogy did the panel use to describe the movie's fun but insubstantial nature?
Star Wars comfort food.
05:36
Which character did the panel agree had the best character arc?
Rada the Hutt.
44:58
What was a major criticism of the movie's structure?
It felt like four 30-minute chunks of a TV show, suggesting it was originally designed as a series.
24:07
What tradition did the movie break by having opening credits?
No Star Wars movie had ever had opening credits before.
51:12
What was the panel's preferred format for the next story?
A fourth season of The Mandalorian rather than another movie.
59:32
Comfort Food Analogy
Captures the movie's appeal and limitations in a memorable way.
05:36Protagonist Should Be Grogu

44:58Opening Credits Break Tradition
Discusses a controversial creative choice that deviates from Star Wars norms.
51:12[00:09] big fun show for you today. We're going to be talking about The Mandalorian and Grou. Now, this is a review video. I think we're going to get into spoilers, so spoiler alerts ahead for that. I will say that if I knew the whole movie
[00:21] happened, and it did not affect my enjoyment or my unenjoyment of it. So, on it, I think that you can still go in and enjoy the film even having heard Explained, uh, Alex and Molly on in just a second to get their thoughts on this
[00:37] And, uh, just, you know, before we get into this, I want to remind you guys that super chats are always encouraged, but not required. We'll try to address all of them that we can. And we've got a poll going right now that says 24% of
[00:49] you guys think that the movie was awesome. Only 19% me said meh, and 26% said haven't seen it. So hopefully today we can help you make up your mind on personally, I got to throw this out there. I am biased. I really hate that
[01:04] it's not Mandalorian season 4 in part because we got crazy views on lot of you guys met us for the first time. And I really hate that I don't get well, you'll find out what I think in just a little bit. I don't necessarily
[01:18] think this movie is the jump to the big screen that maybe Lucasfilm hoped it Wars in movie theaters again. I have talked way too much. Let's go ahead and bring on some of our guests. You know him as the guy who is always on break,
[01:31] Mr. Tommy Beck told. What's up, Tommy? >> Well, obviously I didn't know that everyone in here has a peanut allergy. Janet, I was just assuming most people were probably allergic to tree nuts. Peanuts are a legume. Ryan, how are you?
[01:44] work stuff here, but uh we're good to go. ambulance siren I heard in the background when we first came on? >> You know, we have a general siren tone playing at the work because there's just
[01:56] so many injuries that often times it's just safer to have people assume a siren is on the way so that you know they can lower their heart rates. but we do need to get you one of those signs that say it's been negative two
[02:08] days since the last workplace accident. And of course you know him [laughter] as the guy who's trapped one minute as the guy who's trapped in our TV but doesn't know it. So please don't tell him Mr. [laughter] Colton. What's up?
[02:21] [laughter] Colton. What's up? >> You got my muffins. over into the television. >> What was that? Serrera. Is that your >> Look, I'm allergic to peanuts, so I don't appreciate your
[02:36] >> your joking. It's It's not funny. >> How do you feel about Diesel? Got his [laughter] >> And look, I'll say this, guys. Uh the trying to get these two people on for a while. I I um
[02:49] >> Great first impression. [laughter] >> I said we're on our best behavior. going to have these the I've been trying to have these two people on for a long time. I They run one of the best YouTube channels um about Star Wars or about
[03:03] about having them on because they're the channel that I go to when I don't know something. And uh you know, of course, we credit them all the way, but I don't they're so damn good. They only make me feel bad about myself. We have Alex and
[03:17] Molly Damon from Star Wars Explained, the premier Star Wars channel on you guys face to face. How are you? >> I felt like a lot of pressure. anything. Idol. >> I think so. But I'm I'm biased in that
[03:33] these guys like I was so we had about 10 minutes to awkwardly stare at each other where we didn't want to talk about the movie or Star Wars. So we had to like especially your recap videos your High Republic recap because I I read a lot of
[03:48] It's too much you know. So you guys are just there >> taking the pressure off all us centers. We really appreciate it. >> It was a lot of content to go over. I can't imagine trying to keep up with
[04:00] Star Wars and everything else that you do. [laughter] We focus on one fandom do. [laughter] We focus on one fandom and that's it. And that's still a lot. publishing and comics and everything else. And so I don't even really know. I
[04:14] about what you guys thought of the movie. I haven't watched anything on for this conversation. So let's start with our guests, Alex, Molly, whatever order you want to go in. What did you think about The Mandalorian and Grou?
[04:26] I was surprised at how much I liked it. Like I I kind of went in with pretty low expectations and I was like, I'm hoping it'll be fun and it it was more fun than I thought it would be. Still had lots of criticisms about it, especially in like
[04:42] there's not a whole lot of meat or substance to it, but I just had so much fun watching it. The the act of watching it brings me a lot of joy. And then I feel like afterwards we we're really breaking it down and talking about all
[04:57] the little issues that we have. But I've seen it three times and I've enjoyed it every time. >> Yeah, I agree with a lot of that. Uh we talk about this all the time that it feels like we have two Star Wars fans
[05:11] within us. There's like the Star Wars explained content making person and then there's just a person that loves Star Wars. And for me, it it was a really fun
[05:23] movie. I liked it a lot. And I actually have seen it four times. And every time have seen it four times. And every time I see it, I love the parts that I love more. And I kind of like scoff at the parts that I didn't like more. So, it's
[05:36] it's still just like an okay movie for me, but it feels like Star Wars comfort food, you know? It's it's like really pulpy and fun and silly. And >> I'm I'm like a huge Grou fan. like he's he's my boy, so I'm never going to
[05:52] complain about anything that he's in. >> See, we brought up uh the other day, and it was like, yeah, it's like really fun to just like sit and eat that. It's not healthy for you in the long term. I don't think it's
[06:07] like if every movie were like this, it wouldn't be healthy for the franchise in the long term. But sometimes I just want to shove my face with all the dedic creatures and watch them all fight like that. That was so much fun for me.
[06:20] always thought it was Djar. That's how I >> They said Djar in the movie. I always >> It's one of those head. >> Wow. Ryan, that's like one of the first pronunciation. [laughter] >> I know. I'm always I always make it up.
[06:34] Heather Antos got me in such big trouble for how I pronounced uh Black Cursantin because I was like cursitan and she's like that's fans within us, I thought you meant how the internet also has two Star Wars fans
[06:48] creators where we have to go in and be critical and judge things, but then also fun. >> Yeah. Yeah. Like because of what we do in our channel, people don't just ask us what did you think of the movie? Did you
[07:02] like it? Did you not? They expect us to talk for an hour about the things that we liked and the things that we didn't like. So, we have to really go into it, you know, to pick it apart. >> It It's kind of like I brought this up
[07:15] is that I would call myself a Fast and Furious fan, but there's not two Fast and Furious fans inside of me. I watch those movies once and I'm like, man, what a stupid fun ride and then I never think about it again.
[07:27] >> But when I'm a Star Wars fan, I'm like a diehard completionist. of like the movie the long term? How does it affect or not affect anything else? It's like yeah, you're just looking at it probably too
[07:41] like, I liked it or I didn't. And then they move on. >> Well, we we really do grade on a curve, I guess, and like in a an unfair curve Wars fan because Yeah. I like Fast and Furious, too. But
[07:54] >> Exactly. >> Well, now hold on. Daddy's got to go to work, you know? Like I I'll never begrudge that franchise for that line. the the movie? The first impression of it.
[08:08] >> Look, I I feel like I have like six or seven. And I I didn't even mean to do that. I I feel like I have more than two uh Star Wars fans within me. Like I I think there are so many ways to like so
[08:20] through. Like there's the reviewing it as just a movie. There's reviewing it as different things. there's reviewing it as a Star Wars movie at this specific
[08:32] moment in time in the current state of Star Wars and what it means for Star Wars going forward and the theatrical, you know, experience and streaming that. So, there's a lot of different ways you can, you know, break it down and I think
[08:45] the more you think about this movie and that's what I've noticed is I have like two sides of me that there's like the really analytical side that's like, oh, needed another 30 minutes to develop this character and that one. And I I
[08:59] feel like there's a solid movie in there ha had they like actually put in a little bit more effort to like make it feel more like a cohesive piece instead of a continuation of a show. But then there's the other half of me that just
[09:14] had a really good time and it was fun and enjoyed it. So yeah, it it's just kind of there's two halves, I guess, like you guys were saying. And I I think that I think everybody's kind of like that. I think all Star Wars fans are
[09:29] while we perhaps are more inclined to be like, "It was fun." There's that other too. But they're a little bit more inclined to be like, "Oh, but it
[09:41] movie was fun and kinetic. >> Oh, and can I just say I loved when uh the Huts told Grou that he was a Dooku. I I did not see [laughter] that coming.
[09:58] >> Yes. >> So, Axel Rose took over the band name Guns and Roses and for like 20 years was trying to get this damn album made. And wrote the review for the AV Club and he said, and I think you guys will agree
[10:13] with how this sentiment applies to Star Wars, you can't review this album because it's like reviewing a unicorn. Do you review a unicorn based on its comparison to other unicorns, which is something that does not exist, or do you
[10:25] very horselike? And I feel like when we're talking about this, we have to split it into two sides. There's the I'm an analy I'm an analytical person, watch a film and break down the fundamentals and the three-act structure
[10:40] a Star Wars fan who likes Grou and puppets and, you know, Jeremy Allen White as Rada. So, let's let's break it Tommy, you can pick which way we're going to break it down first. Do we want
[10:52] to talk about as Star Wars fans or as film analysis first? >> Oh, man. I think >> you get to do both. Just you're going to >> Okay. Well, I'll talk about it as a film
[11:06] a film analyst first because inside there there are two film analysts. It's Cisco and Eert. It's the late 80s. We're in a hotel room in Chicago and they're in a hotel room in Chicago and they're both inside me. I uh I I have to say I
[11:20] this movie did not from a film I I there don't think at the end of the day that this movie was for me as a as a like this movie was for me as a as a like just like in terms of it didn't pull my
[11:33] interest in enough into like the world of Star Wars. And I love Star Wars and I There's nothing about this movie that angered me. There's nothing about this movie that annoyed me or really like made me go like, "Oh my god, this has
[11:45] jumped the shark." I think just in terms of the Star Wars the the the movies that I like, Star Wars or otherwise, I feel like there are moments in the movie that
[11:57] happens next. In this movie, I didn't ever feel like I really cared what happens next. I kind of was just enjoying how cute Grou was. And I was like kind of amused at how like I thought I was going to hate a teenage
[12:11] brooding hut, but I kind of was charmed by the performance of Jeremy Ellen White. And like, you know, it didn't bother me that he spoke, you know, the common tongue rather than huties or whatever. Like I I was more surprised.
[12:23] >> Yeah, that's what it's called. I could Alex and Molly were holding their >> Yes, that's fine. You can correct me anytime. I listen I I fully admit that >> Galactic Basic. >> Galactic Basic. Common tongue is
[12:36] >> Thank you. See, and even me like Yeah. >> I went for you guys. [laughter] >> You know what they should have done? >> Well, what movie is it, Ryan? Where it it starts in Russian and then it translates into English, but like it
[12:49] does like a a camera pan. And they do it in Avatar as well. >> They did Avatar 2 really well. They did it in the 13th Warrior. I don't remember. Warrior is what I was thinking of. But I I maybe it was German or Yeah,
[13:02] because >> again the the dork the dork side of me was like h >> well if I may even though this is supposed to be the film analysis period of when I saw the trailers I was like
[13:16] speak Galactic Basic. They just would not they would not dain to do that. But in the movie because they start off talking in Hatis to Den and then they as they're trying to win his sympathy, they switch over to Galactic Basic. I was
[13:30] >> Well, and has not wouldn't do it. >> Exactly. He doesn't he doesn't want he's going to speak basic. >> And of course, we know that the Huts can speak basic because we've seen Zero the Hut in the Clone Wars. [laughter]
[13:44] >> Beloved Zero the Hut. >> Yeah. [laughter] But but yes, but I guess I'm I'm essentially saying I agree with you. they got to that's just got to be for the trailer. They they won't be speaking
[13:58] Galactic Basic. Look at me growing and learning." [laughter] But I I uh No. And [laughter] >> No, no, I'm just kidding. I'm kidding. I really do like learning. I I'm just a bitter old man. I think that I think in
[14:13] general just the pace of this movie and I and and it's going to be so easy to Wars and make all these dramatic points that I don't agree with and don't feel like I think Star Wars is alive and well and fine. I think just as a movie, I
[14:25] wasn't like in my seat going like I can't wait to see what's revealed next kind of get what's happening here. This is kind of a like blown out version of an episode of Mandalorian. I mean the performances
[14:40] it is to me one of the the difficulties in translating a movie a TV show to a movie is the performances shouldn't change that much like Pedro Pascal shouldn't play Dingjar in a different way just because it's in a movie but I
[14:52] don't know that that kind of flat stilted dialogue works as well when he's like the pro co-protagonist of a story and I just think in terms of a twohour and 12 minute movie I kind of was sitting there going like oh geez is this
[15:06] right, this is all just a roundabout way for him to get back to the Hut twins and for him to get back to the Hut twins and like, okay, and and and that's not to say I didn't enjoy it. It sounds like I hated this movie and I didn't. I really
[15:19] >> Normally in a film, in the first act, your character gets some sort of And that doesn't really happen in this movie until the third act when they take middle of the second act or something. >> I don't think Den really had any
[15:34] business being the protagonist of this movie. It should have been Grou. And in >> Yeah, that should have been the name of it. And I tell you what they did at the end with having it be Grou having to save Den instead of usually the other
[15:47] >> I think that I mean I like seeing them together, but I think we could have got a like solid 45 minutes of them together at the beginning and then the rest of the movie being Grou trying to save Den. I think that would have been cool. So
[15:59] >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> I agree. All >> Alex, you're not a big helmet guy, land on this. >> I mean, if you want me to like when they
[16:11] It's one of the few opinions of yours I've heard about this. >> When they introduced the helmet rule in season 1, I thought it was a really interesting starting point. I thought they explained it well of why, you know,
[16:24] everyone follows this rule. Why is it happening now? I was like, okay, I get all that. And then it felt like over the course of the series they were going to dig into like cults and religious trauma and is there really only one way to be a
[16:39] Mandalorian? And I thought it was going to be this great character arc for Den to eventually reject those rules, take off the helmet, and that never happened.
[16:52] Like I thought that was going to be the emotional final point of season 3 of like I don't want my son to have to wear a helmet all the time. I mean look at that cute face. And also it wasn't dare put him in a helmet.
[17:06] season two was going. I mean he dishonored himself and then season 3 introduced this. Oh, or Mandalor Book of Boba Fett introduced Yeah, just go to the waters and was that really hard to do? to quote another channel.
[17:20] I I just don't like the idea that it was a sin for him to emotionally connect with his son. And then I really felt that in this movie of like you you're there's all these behindthe-scenes reasonings for it. But it just behind
[17:36] >> it just frustrates me because I feel like Den is stagnating and that's was ever going to be, but I'm having trouble getting over it. Yeah, it's it's
[17:48] trouble getting over it. Yeah, it's it's asking too much of the audience to to have a puppet baby that doesn't talk and a man in a helmet. I think it's asking a man in a helmet. I think it's asking too much to have those two be the main
[18:01] stars because I feel like they work great when there's a third character around. So like >> Rada was kind of the third character for this and I I found myself more connected with Rada's story than Den's, you know.
[18:16] >> That surprised you. that actually his story drew you in fandom was derisive you know from the trailers >> I I loved Rada and I always thought he was a funny character and always
[18:29] wondered if he was ever going to come back and the fact that Fona put him in the movie I was like this is great I'm I'm in for this ride >> the second he started talking about like fatherhood and legacy and all that and
[18:41] Grou were going through I was like I cannot believe they brought Rod of hut back for a thematically important reason. I was shocked by that. >> Well, did you guys catch that? Did you guys catch that? He's Jabba's son.
[18:56] >> Yeah, they mentioned it twice. I think he gave the same speech twice in the movie about not wanting to be like his dad. Um, but every John Favro movie >> with very few exceptions follows the exact same story. Like they are all
[19:10] about fathers and sons, which is interesting because he, you know, his was raised by his dad. >> That's what Star Wars is about. >> Really? >> Lucas himself says it's about the
[19:23] >> I was just going to say I I like that Den like realized he was in like a fundamentalist cult and he was like, "All right." And like embraced it. "All right." And like embraced it. [laughter]
[19:39] like, "No, I have to atone for looking my son in the face." Even the cult leader is like backing off of the rule and the cult leader is like you know other if you don't want to wear the helmet all the time it's fine and Den's
[19:52] like okay but I'm going to still do it >> well because contractually I don't want if Leif Crowder could just walk around or Brendan Wayne um I we did one of my
[20:04] just at the channel period was we talked about the meaning the hidden meaning of about like all of the symbolism from the Jewish faith that could be in there. And we had a scholar on who did a little bit of writing. We also took from this great
[20:17] YouTube panel where they said it's interesting though that it's like that way to go because it's like saying for, you know, more strict religions like you know, more strict religions like Orthodox Judaism that it's okay to, you
[20:30] and the way you, you know, dress to express your faith." And I kind of like that aspect of it. From a storytelling perspective, it sucks to have your main character not emote just on a fundamental level and also to be this
[20:44] invincible wrecking ball all through the movie for most of it. He's never put on his back foot until, you know, the scene with Embo, which was cool to see him in live action. That was awesome. I might be the lone one out here, but I I'm fine
[21:00] I think that the two guys that play him most of the time under the helmet are super like expressive and emotive just with like the head tilts and the just the way he carries himself. Like I feel
[21:12] like I always know what Den is thinking just by like slight head movements and stuff. So I >> I'm kind of fine with Pedro not being super involved and just coming up. >> It's also the monotone though. It just
[21:25] this movie raw, right? Like if you said, "I've never seen an episode of The the premise really quick, even without the crawl. Okay, here's this space cowboy. Here's this little frog guy. He's cute and they do stuff together.
[21:38] But the fact that you don't get any context for what this guy wants or what has been taken from him or what he he's just basically doing gigs for the first take his helmet off and the hut the huts explain to the audience why this is a
[21:54] big deal then it's like okay now we're in the [ __ ] So, if his helmet would have been removed in the first act, so we know, okay, he's got to kill them and his people, >> then maybe I'm thinking in too
[22:06] people who walk in off the street with their grandkids who don't know the show, they're going to be like, "Oh, yeah. I mean, I guess laser blast pew pew." >> We we talked about how I I think it would have been better even if it
[22:19] happened when it does in the movie that the Huts, they they take it off. They fights for a scene and they're like, "Good job." and they give it back. And like it would have been >> a way bigger swing if Pedro spent the
[22:33] Mandalorian. >> And it would have felt more significant >> you know >> my eye roll when he threw the helmet back down like oh my god. I guess Pedro had to go. [laughter]
[22:46] >> It's weird they even let him keep the armor. the armor at all. >> I think they would have >> Yeah. Not just I think I think that there is an element of this movie a lot
[23:01] of elements of this movie that make it kind of feel like two things that are not movies. One is like a theme park ride. This this movie had a very much this is going to be a future theme park ride at uh Galaxy's Edge and it also had
[23:14] in my opinion a lot of like video game qualities. Like the idea of getting the helmet returned to him because he completed a task is like very much out sense for you to get this loot back or this gear back, but you did the thing
[23:27] that the game program asked you to do so you have it back. Like Mario getting his or something like that. And yeah, I felt like there was just several moments in this movie that felt like this is a this is a theme park ride or this is a video
[23:41] game. And while that is fun in the immediacy of being in the theater, when you're trying to piece it all together in your head as like a linear movie, I think it ultimately leaves a viewer unsatisfied. Sorry, Colton. Well, no,
[23:53] no, no, no. The the movie started over like three times. Like there are like four >> 30 minute chunks of this movie >> almost as if it was originally designed to be a TV show. [laughter] Yeah.
[24:07] a movie, >> what Tommy, I'm sorry. got to be a movie. >> Yeah. >> Oh my go The Defenders, I guess. I've only seen it once, but did I miss them
[24:20] doing any type of >> like who she is? Because that bothered >> really wasted her. I feel like they they didn't give us any backstory. Why is she there? Like >> I I just felt like she was super super
[24:35] wasted. But I mean, she was a fun character. and have her like talking to the chancellor or something or >> mention like I don't know maybe I'm like wanting too many member berries but >> I just
[24:47] like oh yeah well we heard that the huts are going to double cross anyway so we plot line you know >> commander coin told us everything and I'm like but what >> what does that mean
[24:59] >> yeah but I'm that way too I'm thinking like okay so you know what is gonna and how does this work into Thron's plan that's another video. But sorry guys. >> Do you guys think if if this wasn't a Star Wars it's a better movie? Like if
[25:14] >> No, I think I think it's >> Yeah, I think if it's if it wasn't a >> I I agree. >> Okay. Because I think a lot of the I think a lot of the fun like I love the first half of this movie I had.
[25:27] >> Even though it is Yeah, I agree. like all these like little chunks. I was just having so much fun going to new planets and the the Djaric fight I think is so >> Yes. >> And if if I didn't have any of that
[25:43] connection then me as a as just a moviegoing fan would be like huh >> I'd be very curious to see like someone >> didn't know that how they related to it. >> Yeah. like several episodes of the show happened after they go back to Navaro
[25:57] and that's where they're missing like four or five episodes of the Sorry Molly >> No, you're good. I think the more lore, you know, and like the closer you studied the television show, >> like knowing all of that meant nothing
[26:10] in this movie, none of it really connected. And I'm not I'm not I don't want to sound like >> like I deserve more as a harder core fan >> like I deserve more as a harder core fan or whatever, but like it just felt empty
[26:24] and like okay like inconsequential. >> Inconsequential [clears throat] is the >> I I completely agree with that. I and I again like I I don't think it like you nothing to do with it whether you're like the world's biggest fan or not a
[26:37] fan of all. Fact of the matter is three seasons of this show exist and they could pull from whether it's, you know, cameos from characters, which they had a couple, but they didn't none that were meaningful characters that like they
[26:50] mechanic character come back. >> Carson Tea is meaningful to me. >> Okay. Well, >> he's there. Yeah, exactly. He's been too then I apologize. But I but I just I guess I just think like when I was
[27:03] watching it I was like there other than just knowing that this show exists and seeing a couple Disney Plus like commercials, you don't really need anything to go into this movie like you kind of can figure it, piece it
[27:16] knowing more about the lore of the Mandalorian TV show, it hamstrings you won't Mick Mayfield come in here in this situation like save the day and like or
[27:28] or obviously cartoon they can't have for, you know, outside reasons, but it's for, you know, outside reasons, but it's like there are plenty of Well, >> yeah. No, she's definitely working. >> She went to her home planet. Uh, but I
[27:42] >> I think she's unconscious. Yeah. Go ahead. But anyway, I I just think it was that show. Like the fact that all that stuff existed. It was hard because I kept waiting for it to kind of like >> lean closer to the TV show and it just
[27:58] >> I hated Oh, go ahead. I'm sorry. >> I was just going to say I think this movie would have worked way better if they had put it out had the idea and put it out after season one. >> Oh, yeah. like just earlier on before we
[28:12] got bogged down with everything that happened in season two and three. felt like. >> It probably would have made a billion >> A lot of I mean especially after season two the momentum of people coming off of
[28:27] season two were like that was incredible if they had a movie next and it didn't take three years and like after >> the reunion would have happened >> in a movie too. >> Yeah. between all all this stuff just
[28:40] lost momentum and there were like these long year gaps in between seasons and >> and the strike didn't help for sure. >> Ryan, are you suggesting they put Luke him a Disney Plus show? >> I mean, as much as for us and what we
[28:53] do, a Disney Plus Luke Skywalker show would be great. Yeah, he should be would be great. Yeah, he should be >> I I hated how they use Zeb as a fan of the Zeb character. I I tried to think about that movie and I asked my wife who
[29:05] was like, "What do you think about Zeb?" And the first thing she said was, "Which "You're proving my point." role. >> He Yes. And he would just randomly pop
[29:18] up and I would be like, "Oh, Zeb's there with him on this." Okay. >> His his line where he goes like, "I'm a I'm a pilot, not a mech." I was like, "Zeb is so much more than a pilot." >> Yeah. Yeah. it they just didn't do any
[29:31] work in the movie to make you care about his character. So like >> we all probably were like, "Oh, cool Zeb because we've seen Rebels." >> But the majority of people have not seen Rebels. So yeah, I I found that
[29:44] on the Did Did you guys all like like the I call it the second out of four acts, like when they're on uh Shikari and all that. I I wasn't crazy about >> The score was enough for me. I was going to say I love the score. listen to that
[30:00] score so many times. >> Okay. But did it it it kind of started to insist upon itself a little bit. I was like, "Okay, I >> like my god, it felt like a music that they have two the exact same scene where
[30:13] he goes to see Rod of the Hut." >> Um, was really back and forth that felt >> Going to like Hugo and then Rada and then Hugo and then Jonno and then Rada. >> exactly. Like on this planet there is two people that you can go [laughter]
[30:28] visit for information >> and they're both voiced by celebrities. aspect. We've had enough of this boring analytical [ __ ] So let's talk about the housekeeping. We do have a few super chats that we're going to get to in just
[30:40] a little bit, but I want to remind everybody we did just expand our memberships and we've got our Star Wars parody merch sale is going on for five really quick. So, first off, let me just remind you that if you become a store

[31:35] Wars parody merch like Good Soldiers Follow Orders. One of my favorites. I have friends everywhere. I love this one. It's one of our new ones. The retro docking bay 94 scum and villainy welcome. One of my all-time personal
[31:47] favorites. if I can find it listed in here is the Boba Fett. This one's great. It's got like Easter eggs in it where Boba Fett's hat has um the hut symbol on it and lots of other tiny little details
[31:59] when you take a look. The Tashi Station power converter sale, Darth Master nerdiest shirts we've ever made, of course. Um, no one's ever really gone. And this incredible Japanese inspired Darth Maul Warrior shirt. Plus, we have
[32:13] placemat. And you can find links for all those down below. So, thanks for to the super chats, let's do some Star Wars nerding, right? What was your kind of moment. What do we get from this? Molly,
[32:27] >> we already talked about the Dric fight, but that's a big one. I mean, just hearing that word and immediately thinking of the hollow chest table and then seeing what that meant, like getting all of the most dangerous
[32:39] creatures that he could to fight each other. That was like the nerdiest moment bunch of different people the four different times that I saw it. Every different times that I saw it. Every time I would like look over and you the
[32:54] group would just be like bouncing in their chair. They would they were so excited >> and the floor was the jerk uh board too table. Yeah, >> that that's easily my favorite part of
[33:08] the movie >> between it's just like it just feels like dumping out your Star Wars action figures in a kitty pool and like rolling around in them just reing in it and it it's stupid and it's like
[33:21] self-referential in a crazy way, but like it's just there's so much joy in it like it's just there's so much joy in it for me and I love Rada's theme like Ludwig score at that point. I think Ra's theme is I just keep listening to that
[33:33] >> it's a great running track too if you like to run to like concussion. >> It's very rocky. >> Yeah, there's Yeah, there's some horns in it that sound very rockyesque. But >> the the Mantelian Sav gets to pick up
[33:49] the Canten Strider and like smash him, which is a move that we see in A New Hope on the chest table. So, like we see that multiple times throughout different movies that we that the hollow chest table shows up in. And
[34:03] >> seeing that happen on the big screen, I was just like they did the thing. creatures. >> I had to look like Yeah. [laughter] Like surprised. I'm saying I love it. That's why I love having you guys on and
[34:15] >> I feel like I'm having maybe I still have my analytical hater hat on. I I did not that was my least favorite part of the I feel like that part of the movie felt so like >> small in what the scale should have been
[34:29] compared to like um like in Thor Ragnarok you have a very similar scene >> uh what's his name Jeff Goldplum's character up there up high in the grand up high in the rafters watching and the huge arena I don't know this one just
[34:43] felt like really small for Star Wars but >> you think the CGI took you out of it a little bit because I'm kind a notorious hater for like overly CG car like a
[34:55] bunch of overly CG done characters in the same area. >> Yeah. You You know what I really liked that they did with the um swamp character in the rocking chair and the two robots at the end was you could tell
[35:08] that they did I don't know if it was actual stop motion. I know the robots were but they like lowered the frame rate of the um the lizard guy. like they they actually lower his frame rate to make him look kind of stopotiony like
[35:21] original Star Wars. And I could be wrong, but I don't think they did that characters, >> which it would have been appropriate for game. >> Yeah, I would.
[35:33] they had >> Oh, they're puppets. motion. >> Oh, yeah. Well, they'll do Yeah, they >> Yeah. But no, I mean Oh my god. And we have like I'm sorry. Anytime I we talk
[35:47] about The Rise of Skywalker, I'm always like, "Yeah, but hey, hey." I mean, in the movie with Baboo Frrick, man, >> my um my favorite part of the movie is was a snoozefest, but it was Jojo. Uh Jojo, that's my Gro. Why did I say my
[36:03] dog's name? It was Grou's [laughter] um unconscious. I loved watching him meditate and get get him water. I I thought that whole scene was just like color graded really well and shot really
[36:17] well. That's my favorite like 15 minutes of the movie. I love that part. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. And the fact that they were able >> Yeah. >> You know, Jim Henson always struggled. I
[36:30] earlier about CG characters with no humans in it. I personally feel like puppets are always most interesting, even muppets, when they interact with a human. It's just I think a good rule of thumb. So, same thing with, you know,
[36:43] where, you know, that's not as effective as a movie as Labyrinth, you know, but I, man, that sequence with Grou, no other creatures needed. It was great. >> I I love when he puts Den in the hut and his feet are sticking out because every
[36:58] >> I had just been thinking like cuz we see that montage of him like hastily putting him. I wanted them to cut to a wide shot and his legs are still just sticking out then when they ended up doing it kind of Yeah, I thought that was cute.
[37:14] Wars thing you liked about this? >> Uh, well, I have two two, so I'll say them both quickly. I thought that the twins layer with all of the different side rooms with slithering sluglike huts was
[37:28] >> that was like an expansion of like information about huts that I thought was very satisfying. Like, oh yeah, they just all kind of ner burrow and nest and be gross in this giant castle together. I love that. into a wh house, you know,
[37:41] seedy feel to it. >> Yeah, it was kind of adult, which I watch movies. I don't know. >> Just like that, Ryan. Trust me. Uh, >> And then my other thing I think that where the ven diagram of Mandalorian and
[37:56] Grou and Star Wars like as a whole entity kind of overlap is the scene where Mando is trying to instruct Grou on how to use the ship and he just keeps >> [laughter] >> Bank has like the kind of Star Warsy
[38:10] something needs to go perfectly here and it goes as bad as possible humor mixed in with like Grou's mischievousness and just kind of like I thought that that lined up perfectly and that that to me felt like very I'm like okay I'm back
[38:24] >> In a way he's he's following orders because Den keeps telling him never >> So he's like >> I told him the one I told you not to >> I wish they'd have the I wish they'd had the guts to make the missile just hit
[38:38] >> That's what I Yeah, I thought that was >> just incinerate them kills eight people. [laughter] >> Especially like episode three, chapter three of the Mandalorian where Den goes into uh the Imperial, you know, hideout
[38:54] flamethrower and the knife and it's all in shadow but pretty brutal. So, you compare that to this movie and it really was like a kid-friendly romp >> where they didn't want to destroy too much on camera, I thought. Which is
[39:07] fine. Like I said, it's the movie scoring great with kids, like kids. >> I really think they're trying to lean it towards like introducing a new audience, a new age group into Star Wars, >> which is important for a franchise like
[39:21] >> And I feel like The Mandalorian always pulled a bait and switch on us. If you look at the trailers, we were like, "Oh, this is dark [ __ ] This is like cow >> And then, you know, the baby comes in and you know, even the Anzel's going,
[39:34] "No, baby. No, baby. No squeeze." You seen horrible baby. that he gave them bear hugs that hurt them, but it's great. If you haven't, favorite. That's what I was pleased about with this movie. I think you could
[39:50] have gone in fairly cold and enjoyed it even if you didn't get like in-depth character development. >> It was funny. I mean like Mando realizing that their ship is way too small for him to get on and being like
[40:03] >> and then it never occurred to them, >> right? >> right? And the score is just swelling up to this like triumphant where all all is about to be well. And then it's like this ship is the size of like a like a
[40:16] this ship is the size of like a like a like a a garage freezer like you know whatever cold storage things. It's just >> That was really funny. >> Rochester reference.
[40:28] roof and at least gotten far enough away. >> I don't know that that thing has the horsepower. >> Maybe not. What? I don't know. >> I like how right afterwards too, we got
[40:41] Rambo, you know, like I'm I'll fight him off, but the music was so sad and so Lud Vic Gorson, man, can really hit any note you need him to. Um, we've got a few super chats to get to here, guys. Uh, let's see here. Our can't read the
[40:57] pounds and said, "I like a smaller movie. Seems like almost a reset after the sequel trilogy. Why not start back again, but slowly? I also like the aura farming hat guy. I don't know what I'll admit it publicly. I don't know what the
[41:11] hell aura farming means. Kids say it. >> So when like throws his hat at Mando and then like kicks it up and then does that across the brim, that's just like it's a hell of it. >> You just know Fona is backstage giggling
[41:28] He's just like >> I got you. Cuz he does it in the cartoon. Yeah, he's he's he's got the hat in the Clone Wars and he's always like he does in the movie. So, >> well, and Flon likes a hat.
[41:41] >> He loves a hat. >> And yeah, again, Trapper I always want >> Wolf. I like calling him Trapper. >> Trapper Wolf. Trapper Dave is my famous uh hunter character that I'm I'm well
[41:54] known for that I do on internet videos. >> I will say the the Trapper Wolf cameo. I was like, "Sure, I get it." like that's never going to go away. But they gave him like two very prominent cameos like in separate scenes and I was like,
[42:08] "Okay, let me get it." >> And again, >> when they were doing the press junking, uh, Flooney and Favro, Flooney says to Favro, "You didn't have to cut to me so many times."
[42:22] >> Yeah, sure. >> No, I think that's probably true. He strikes me as very uncomfortable on camera. I did I did read that Favro does talk about how much he relishes in in like putting Fon on screen because it
[42:35] makes him so deeply uncomfortable. So it does makes like that could have been but on your friend. Like >> I appreciate any director that does put wouldn't put themselves in a Star Wars movie? Like any of the directors who
[42:49] themselves a cameo I'm like ah you're missing out man. But I also [laughter] wonder could they could they have paid real actors that aren't directors that have already done Star Wars? Could they have just paid actors to to play those
[43:03] parts? I don't know. >> Yeah. I don't mind like in The Mandalorian season 1 when Trapper and Sashket and Jib Dodger, I remember them >> Yeah. All all three of the directors came in and had a little cameo. I was
[43:18] happening >> and it does feel a little something Fab has always done. He loves to cast his friends >> and like Toro Calacan >> in episode five of season one, which is
[43:33] like one of the least favorite, least loved episodes. It's like he cast Bobby >> and I'm like, >> "Oh, I didn't know that." Okay. quick [laughter] though. Yeah. I I feel like there's just a lot of like him
[43:48] casting his friends and a lot of stunt casting that I feel >> often takes me out of the Mandalorian. >> Lucas waited from >> Oh yeah. >> Well, he's already he's done a character
[44:03] sorry. Uh Phila from Down Under gave us eight Australian dollars. Said it was but there wasn't any character development and it felt like four episodes condensed down. Everybody's the same at the I there's one bit of
[44:17] character development. He trusts Grou more when he gives him the choice. Do we stay or fight? And he lets him pick. I think it acknowledges that Grou is get any other character development from the movie?
[44:29] >> Well, my issue with that is I feel like it's just kind of repetitive of season 3 because >> they I feel like at the end of season 3, Grou has to save Den and he does it very quickly. Grou shows how capable he is in
[44:44] a fight. Now >> he saves Den again and Bokeutan. He seems like he has earned that trust. So this just seemed like a longer version of that same character development. >> I I think that the best character
[44:58] >> Yes, absolutely. Yeah, >> because he starts off like I'm trying to distance myself from my father >> and yet I'm still just using violence to gain notoriety and then by the end he's
[45:12] work for the New Republic. Like that is a character arc. >> And yet for [snorts] me what I wanted him to do was be a hut. And after all of that, once he realized that his cousins were dead and he there was nothing
[45:27] stopping him from being in charge, being like, "Well, since I don't know, I I can let me throw this out there. Let's say that there's a future Star War the Thrawn movie, whatever, right? And the everybody's the
[45:39] battle and Thron's got his guys and their X-wings are flying in and we cut to Trapper Wolf and we cut to Jib Dodger and then we cut to Rod of the Hut in the cockpit of an X-wing. That's all I want. I just I don't need to know the
[45:51] I just I don't need to know the logistics of it. I just want to see >> Fresh biscuit. >> They need a specialty X-wing just for him. Maybe he could pilot like um a U-wing. Those are big, right? You could
[46:03] do that. Raider Reaper gave us five bucks and said, "Coolest crossover ever. Screen Crush Star Wars explained. I give Mando and Grou an 8.5 rating. Had great action, good CGI, solid plot, and Easter eggs galore." It really did have a lot
[46:16] of Easter eggs. Like we did a full video and then I was like, "Oh, let me see what everybody else found." And I was like, "Oh shit." Added like two pages just referencing other sites of stuff like that didn't get the droid got and
[46:28] all this other stuff. So yeah, an amazing uh film for that. And radio free browns gave us two bucks. Said saw I love boosters instead. Highly recommend. I recently saw the sheep detectives. Cried like an infant. Amazing movie.
[46:40] >> Very good. >> So good. >> So good. >> Mom fears my [laughter] I love this username. Mom fears my music for $5. [laughter]
[46:55] No, Mom. I'm not gonna stop playing my drums. You fear my music. Rada being a violent pit fighter was a great example of how to successfully subvert expectations. >> I like that a lot.
[47:08] >> I like the the idea of him learning that like he can fit in. >> Like people kept this idea keep keeps coming up in the movie about like not fitting in or whatever, but by the end of it, he's like, I I feel safe here. I
[47:23] for you. >> Yeah. Yeah. And the idea that he leaned so much into his fame and drawing a like his his sense of self from the praise of others and then he saw how fleeting fame is whenever people turn on him. I don't
[47:37] know. Do you think John Favro might have been projecting something about like maybe online reaction to certain seasons of the Mandalorian? It's kind of interesting. [laughter] Uh but yeah, mom mom fears my music. Um
[47:50] I agree that was a great subversion of expectations. And then Wolf Tab gave us say thank you. This is way more than you needed to do, but we really appreciate it. Give us $50. >> 50 bucks from Wolf Tab said, "I love me
[48:04] some Sigourney Weaver, but as a New Republic hard up for pilots because into battle instead of learning from instead of leading from the command center felt a bit much. Keep up the great work to Doug."
[48:18] kind of battle. And I like a leader that We got to see Sigourney Weaver fly an X-wing. Okay, thank you for the $50, but But [laughter] >> thank you for the $50, but we don't like
[48:32] you. No, I mean, uh, no, I get it. But >> I also felt like the, uh, having them having her be in a command center would have been a little superolous. She got to see her like getting mixed up in action.
[48:45] action. >> And we have to remember the New Republic has not at this point, and I I could be wrong. Correct me if I'm wrong. They have not embraced the rebellion as the new republic military. They are still a
[48:58] new republic military. They are still a very scrappy organization. The the the rebellion, I think. >> Yeah. They they heavy they heavily demilitarize after the battle of Indor and Jaku and like the Galactic Civil War
[49:10] is over. >> So the the military is like >> much smaller >> than the Empire certainly and smaller someone did ask us. It's like, "What what's going on at Adelfi that all the
[49:24] pilots are over 50 and they're all like from the rebellion? It doesn't seem like they're recruiting new." And I'm like, "Yeah, maybe Adelfi planet doesn't retire." >> Doesn't Leia have to like help get them
[49:37] >> Doesn't Leia have to like help get them like funding and stuff like and uh as it like >> that's years later. That's like 28 uh AFY I think or ABY. Does that sound about right, guys? Like when Bloodline
[49:51] >> I just like that it still felt scrappy. >> So, >> Yeah. >> Yeah. The the Adelfi base just feels like a really tiny little like offshoot base that isn't as connected to
[50:04] everything else. I liked related to that when you when they went in uh they still had they had like a flag hanging up from the rebellion which reminds me of like the American Legion Hall how they'll have like the different flags from
[50:17] different services or the the P flag. I thought that was great because that's looks like it but it's not that. And that's just their way of being like, "Yeah, I served, you know, like we all served in that." Unless I'm wrong and
[50:29] military. >> So you like the rebel flag. Got it. >> Yeah, exactly. That's the lesson to take away from what I just said. [laughter] >> All right. And another big one here. Border Crossing Law gave us 20 bucks and
[50:45] said, um, biggest sins of the movie, there should not have been opening credits. They should have cast excellent actors to play the warlords. Uh, and they definitely should not have had directors
[50:58] definitely should not have had directors and producers as the X-wing pilots. I as felt a little weird for Star Wars, right? Like having him walk into base and the different names and top billing and all that. I just crawl the first
[51:12] >> Yeah. I didn't even know I didn't think twice about it until a bunch of our had credits in the opening and I was like, what? Okay. >> So, I go ahead. >> I guess Rogue One and Solo did not. Am I
[51:25] >> No. Well, no Star Wars movie has ever had opening credits, and I I personally hated it. I I hate that they >> had to pay Lucas had to pay a fine to Sorry. Go ahead. >> I hate that they have this rule at
[51:38] Lucasfilm that they don't do opening crawls on non like >> saga films. Like they didn't do it for Rogue One, didn't do it for Solo. So instead they do this weird just text card screen of yellow text that's so
[51:54] have the opening crawl right there. Do it. And then if you're going to do opening credits especially for this movie why is it just a bunch of B-roll movie why is it just a bunch of B-roll of X-wings driving around on a tarmac?
[52:09] How about Sigourney Weaver narrating like she does in the trailer. We all know the story about the Mandalorian bounty hunter and and a child. How about have her like give some narration like explaining and kind of refreshing or for
[52:23] people who are new who these two characters are and have like some cool like kind of like Remy Spider-Man artwork of like from the the seasons of the Mandalorian. I I I hated how they handled the
[52:36] >> It was an Ahsoka season one uh episode one curl. It was the exact same like I don't know. Alex Molly, where do you guys stand on opening crawls in in your Star Wars? >> Have to have it. [laughter]
[52:50] >> Yeah, it's they're great, but I do think there is uh something good about saving them for like the big trilogies or like the big main story movies, but that could have also made people feel like this movie
[53:06] like was so much smaller. M >> I think that this movie I I think there were a lot of like ulterior motives to making it and some of it having seen it a few times I'm like you know what this did a lot of firsts first first with
[53:21] opening credits it never said I have a bad feeling about this no lightsabers >> uh uh there was something else that I had thought of that's kind of like a a staple of Star Wars and I feel like this was a bit of like let's break some of
[53:36] the traditions so that there's a precedent in the >> I I don't know. Like I I also think that the whole movie was kind of rushed out a little bit specifically so that when we get to Starf Fighter, we're not going to
[53:51] pressure because it's the first movie in eight years. It's just the first movie >> Interesting. >> So Starf Fighter is the true make or >> Yeah. And I and I think they were trying to lessen I'm I'm that's a complete
[54:05] were trying to lessen the pressure on it. >> I think it's an interesting parallel to what's going on in the MCU where it's came out and it was like I don't think because we knew that there was Doomsday
[54:19] coming. It didn't feel like those movies had to be billion-dollar movies or the I mean it certainly put more pressure on Doomsday, but I think that like I think it it feels it feels similar in this regard that like since we know that
[54:32] Starf Fighter is coming out, it's not uh it's not like I think this movie is but it's like that one is probably going to need to be a big big movie. What's going to be interesting is its second weekend drop off because I I have a
[54:47] weekend drop off because I I have a feeling that maybe it won't be too bad >> I agree. >> That'll be huge. >> Oh, yeah. Especially since Star Wars doesn't do that well overseas, too. Like
[54:59] >> the holiday weekend, like maybe people were out of town for a holiday weekend and then they might see it the next >> and these types of movies, they usually have huge drop offs. I mean, part of that is because everybody rushes out to
[55:11] >> yeah, >> this Do we know what was the weekend box office? I know the 4day, I think, was 100 and the 3-day was 80. Is that right? saw. >> I think it's got some room to
[55:25] >> Oh, I think so, too. I think it'll end up around 500. 500. release? I'm checking right now if there's a big movie coming out. I don't think there is a big movie coming out. >> It's a little dry for a while. I think
[55:38] Masters of the Universe comes out, not this week, but next week yeah, Supergirl. >> Yeah, next week is Back Rooms, but the same. >> You know that there's a big Back Rooms
[55:52] [laughter] >> I got permission to take my nephew to >> From that is all gave us $5 and said, "At times, Jeremy Allen White sounded said, "You can't blame a guy for trying when Rada tried to escape from Mando." I
[56:07] voice. I liked the little bit of a depth and tenor think of the performance there? >> I I liked when he did fat guy in a little coat. >> Yeah, that was a bit much. That was very
[56:19] >> I liked his truck speeder down by the river. Yeah, [laughter] >> Excellent. >> Molly, you liked his voice a lot, right? >> I did. Yeah. I mean, I like the the the sound design that they did with his
[56:33] voice, but I also like that he sounded young still for a hut, how they sounded. >> One person who saw it ahead of me told White and I was like, "Oh, that sounds awful." So maybe I was expecting that.
[56:47] gave him like a little bit of a base and >> some tenor in there." And oddly think they used his eyes or something even though his eyes aren't blue. But I know, man. And I think if someone showed me a picture of 10 huts and I had to
[57:01] would have picked you. Like it's weird how they were able to do that with him. >> And we've got a question here uh from Comic Comic Jung Jungalo Jungalow. Okay.
[57:13] very much. I can't believe it's been four months since we've started that. Uh says, "Okay, do I watch in theaters or wait for Disney Plus to release?" Not much. Some context. Not much of a Star Wars fan yet. God, are you on the right
[57:28] watched season one of the Mandalorian gonna nitpick, but it's just called The Mandalorian, not The Mandalorian and >> Theaters, >> given this person's level of experience,
[57:42] in theaters? >> The answer is always that that's where Yeah. >> If if any Star War is available to be seen on the big screen, do it. >> Yeah. It's just from a purely aesthetic
[57:57] reason, it's just more enjoyable. You know, you're in the seat and the sound >> Yeah. I I always say theater. Tommy, you didn't like the movie. What do you >> I hated it. No, I see it in the theater. Are you kidding me?
[58:09] >> I No, I I listen. I thought the movie was just fine. And I And what made it better was that delicious popcorn and Reese's Pieces and root beer. So, I
[58:23] know how to turn my oven on and I don't make candy. So, you got to go to the >> I had a milkshake. >> It's funny. I might be the only I hearing his level of experience that he's only seen the first season. And I
[58:37] watch more, I was like >> maybe you do wait for for streaming. But >> I mean I obviously like the big screen is I I just love going to the movies. So
[58:49] I I agree that that's the the best way to see it. But like if you're not all in on Star Wars and especially not The Mandalorian, then I'm like, >> it's true. Like I mean people have to budget for going to the movies now,
[59:03] family. Like it gets really expensive. And I completely understand anyone wanting to wait and and save the money and just watch it on Disney Plus. though, here's my last question for you guys. Uh then sadly we got to sign off.
[59:19] Um, when the story continues, should it be when the story continues, should it be another movie or Mandalorian season 4?
[59:32] >> I I would prefer another season because I I think that of all of the streaming shows that they have, a lot of them feel like long movies that are just split up kind of arbitrarily. But the Mandalorian is it's got an episodic format of we go
[59:48] to a new planet, we do a favor for someone else, and they help us on our seasonl long journey. And I was like, it's crazy to me that they took Obi-Wan into a show,
[1:00:02] >> but now they're taking what I think is like their the best in in terms of >> It's an episodic series, and they're putting it on the big screen. >> Yeah. The best formatted. I think it's formatted very well for a a series. So,
[1:00:15] I would like to see a fourth season. >> Whereas, Skeleton Crew, Acolyte, etc. Probably I think you're right. Do feel like they were movies that were screaming in the middle of the night about Kenobi being made into a a
[1:00:29] >> Hey, Darth Maul does the same thing. >> Wakes up in the middle of the night and >> But no, yeah, it's it's always a topic we revisit. And I think Deborah Child As good as you can. But that story should have been over screen for sure.
[1:00:43] >> Tell me what you think. >> I I'm going to go way zag here. I think it should be an episodic t season of TV and I think there should be a time jump. >> Like a big time jump. I'm >> sick of this little baby. I want him to
[1:00:59] >> Do [laughter] you want to hear him talk? That's a question I I have. I don't know that I need him to anymore because I've heard Yoda talk and if he talks I want if he doesn't talk like Yoda if he if he's if he's if he's Rod of the Hut to
[1:01:12] Jaba the way Grou is going to be to Yoda I think I could live without it >> I don't know doesn't talk like that. I think Yoda has a speech impediment. >> I don't think Disney's gonna allow them to age him up. I I don't not for a
[1:01:27] while. Well, unless it's set a 100 years in the future and he's, you know, >> you know, that's the worst thing they could do. They they have the opportunity character where we know what's going to happen to him. I I hope they keep him. I
[1:01:42] I don't want to see him in the future and then more in the P. No. Um, >> teenage years. >> Yeah. I I want season four of The Mandalorian, >> but I think Grou's future is on the big
[1:01:55] screen. I I think when they do 10, 11, and 12, Grou needs to be in 10, 11, and 12 >> with Ray. I I want that. But yeah, I'm >> I hope not just for the reason you said. I like not knowing. But yeah, I I think
[1:02:08] don't understand why they would take this thing where you don't even need the actor there and you could literally do anything and draw from this galaxy and >> condense all that production into a film. Just make it your staple of Disney
[1:02:20] Plus. And then things that you can make Star Wars movies out of the things like been movies to begin with. I like Skeleton Crew. I think it's underrated. We got to sign off there. Uh Alex Molly, you can find them on Star Wars
[1:02:32] things coming up you want to plug and tell us about? >> Uh I we're we're working on a tabletop show that I'm really really excited about that I'm hoping will be done and ready to go in June or July. So uh I
