Endgame Encore New Footage — Full Breakdown & Transcript

[00:00] Avengers Endgame Encore has arrived, and we need to talk about what all this new footage means for Avengers Doomsday. Why is Loki at Steve Rogers' house? Why is Doom abducting the Hulk? Why is the multiverse collapsing and firing missiles at each other?

[00:14] And what mask is Doctor Doom hammering away at in the final moments of the credits? And how does that connect to Tony Stark and Iron Man? Hey, welcome back to Screen Crush, I'm Colton Ogburn, and Avengers Endgame Encore is a re-release presentation of Avengers Endgame,

[00:28] with a new ending and post-credit scenes all setting up Avengers Doomsday. And while I had high hopes for what this re-release would feature, I'll admit, they've kind of blown past my expectations. So, first we have the film's brand new ending.

[00:41] The original cut of Endgame, it featured Steve Rogers having traveled to the past to live a life with Peggy, but now, after we see them kiss, the screen does not cut to black. They are promptly interrupted by a knock at the door, and it's Loki.

[00:54] Steve hides behind the wall, but immediately recognizes the voice of the visitor, Peggy asks if she can help him. Loki responds, no, but I can help you. He then steps in, looking in Steve's direction behind the wall, and says, both of you.

[01:07] Steve then steps out, and he looks very concerned and confused about the arrival of Loki. So, before we continue with what Loki is doing at Steve's house, we need to talk about this post-credit scene we got at the TVA.

[01:19] There, we see Mobius enter the TVA. He's having a regular morning. He's not too, too surprised to learn that they've got an incursion happening. and he seems pretty calm about the whole thing, giving the impression that this is just something that happens from time to time,

[01:32] and it's the TVA's job to help stop them. However, Casey, Obi, and Mobius then notice that the two worlds, one of which is the X-Men universe, they're firing missiles at each other and trying to destroy the other before they collide.

[01:45] Now, at this point, Mobius is still relatively calm. That is, until they get an alert that another incursion is happening elsewhere in the multiverse. And this is when Mobius starts acting very worried, And what this tells us is that that occasional single incursion, that happens from time to time, and the TVA will step in and try to stop it before it reaches the point of collision.

[02:06] But Mobius' response to learning that there is another incursion happening at the same time as this one, even two incursions occurring at once, has him in disbelief. And that tells me that multiple incursions happening at once is unheard of in this new system that the TVA has had going since Loki took over.

[02:24] So, we then see entire worlds beginning to collapse, and we get counts as high as 3,000 universes having died, and Obi declares the multiverse is collapsing. And that brings me back to why Loki is visiting Steve and offering him and Peggy help.

[02:39] See, at the start of that PDA post-credit scene, Miss Minutes says to stay in your universe, so that they don't have to chase you down like a dog. Now, I'm not going to bore you with the convoluted universe versus timelines debate, and, you know, what is what.

[02:52] You're tired of it. I'm tired of it. So let's just keep it simple and say that it would appear that Steve Rogers has done something to contribute to what's happening out there in the multiverse and its collapse. But while the going theory seems to be that this collapse starts happening at the TVA,

[03:08] therefore Loki goes to Steve to help address the issue, I'm not so sure that's what's happening here. Because Steve did not travel to another universe. He created a branch timeline that could cause trouble down the road

So, I did a video over on my personal channel where I mentioned that I think this scene of Loki visiting Steve and Peggy, that could be taking place before Loki took the multiversal throne, and that this visit is happening during his centuries-long mission in Loki Season 2

[04:50] to try and stop the multiverse from dying before he ultimately decides to take the throne. But I have some of you guys remind me that in the Doomsday trailer, we see Loki give Steve a TVA card with the multiversal tree on it,

[05:02] a point that I've actually made myself when debunking the idea that this is a pre-throne Loki, so that's kind of embarrassing. Anyway, this would mean that this Loki, the one visiting Steve, he is already on the throne, he has already created his tree.

[05:16] So it is likely that this Loki knocking at the door is actually a projection of Loki while his real self is still sitting on his throne, and he is trying to help the TVA manage these incursions. But this could actually be the physical Loki who has left his throne, perhaps in a situation where the bulk of the multiverse has died and very few universes are left, such as the X-Men universe, the mainline MCU, and the Fantastic Four universe.

[05:40] So that could mean, with only three universes being left, Loki was able to leave his throne and then step in to help. And that's in Loki leaving the throne, and he just takes the three remaining universes and ties them in a knot, and he's like, alright, that'll be good.

[05:52] So those are the options here. This could be a projection that Loki is casting into this specific universe in this timeline, while his real self is still on the throne. It could be a pre-throne Loki, but I'm really doubting that. Or it could be a Loki who has left the throne.

[06:06] I think what I'll go with for now is that this is a projection of Loki that he is casting there into that timeline, but it is still taking place prior to this big multiverse collapse that we are seeing happen at the PDA.

[06:19] I don't think Loki is there at Steve's door in response to this scene that we're happening at the PDA. I think Loki going to Steve's door is just part of his efforts across the entire time stream and multiverse to keep this new free-flowing multiverse thing working.

[06:33] Now, according to some leaks that have been making their way around online for months now, and spoiler warning if you don't want to hear them, but the reports have been that we would see Loki, a Loki that some described as a pre-thrown Loki, perhaps because he is wearing TVA attire, but the reports were that he would visit Steve Rogers, warn him of an impending incursion caused by this branch timeline that Steve created, and that Loki would then offer to move Steve and Peggy to another universe where they can live a life in solitude and not cause any branching timelines.

[07:02] and that universe that he moves them to is Universe 828, the Fantastic Four universe. Now, leads as well as trailer footage have seemingly confirmed that Steve agrees, and he and Peggy spend a decade in that other universe, and they even have a son.

[07:16] So, I see two options here. One being that Steve's creation of that branching timeline could be one of the many, like, crazy things happening at the TVA in that moment when the multiverse is beginning to collapse,

[07:28] and Loki is there to try and stop it. and Loki moving Steve to that other universe after we just heard Ms. Minutes say, stay in your own universe, that could be Loki just kind of kicking the can down the road, duct tape over a crack in the pool, but then, years later, at least years later from Steve's perception of time,

[07:45] it could be, you know, just mere seconds in terms of how Loki and the TVA are doing it, because time passes differently here on the TVA. We could then see Steve learn that this was a temporary fix, or alternatively, like I said, when Loki moved Steve to begin with,

[07:59] That was to avoid any trouble happening, and it seemed to work, but it actually caused even more trouble in the future. And then we can see Steve learn that this fix that Loki offered him was temporary, and that is when we can see him get recruited by the Fantastic Four

[08:14] to travel to the MCU and help do whatever their plan is to stop it. Doom is, of course, also involved. And I really think that this TVA scene, I think it's much later in the movie than the Loki visiting Steve scene.

[08:27] I think this scene at the TVA, I think it could be a scene from the second act of the film, when I think the X-Men universe will be involved in yet another incursion, and Doctor Doom will have officially betrayed the Avengers and the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

[08:41] Remember, we're pretty certain that we're going to see Doom and the Fantastic Four travel together to the MCU with Steve Rogers to enact whatever their plan is to stop the incursions and then we will see the Fantastic Four and the Avengers travel to the X universe as well and it is there that at some point during their working together Reed will discover a dark truth and he will confront Victor

[09:05] We then see Doom body Thor, and he resurrects the Sentinels to attack our heroes, and rumor has it that in this scene, in this shot specifically, it is rumored that this shot has been digitally altered for marketing,

[09:17] is to not spoil the fact that in the actual film, Above Doom, we will see a blood-red sky with another Earth, like, hurling toward them, and that's an incursion taking place. And I think that is the incursion with Universe 10005, the X-Men universe,

[09:32] that we are seeing happen in this shot from the TVA scene. That other universe that's hurling toward them could even, like, open fire on the X-Men universe, who are reported to have already gone through many incursions and won, and so then their counter-defense mechanisms could kick in

[09:46] and they begin firing back. And the reason this is all happening is because whatever Doom's plan was to essentially simultaneously have all of these incursions start happening at once, that is now in progress.

[09:58] Reed is saying, Victor, did you do this? Reed Richards. Oh, calm me. Calm me, Victor, did you do this? And that is what the TVA is seeing go down in this scene. Dr. Doom's attack on the multiverse. And I think this is why in the Doomsday trailer

[10:11] we see all the X-Men with the fantastic four and the Avengers back at either the Baxter Building apartment or at Steve's house. I can't really tell which it is, but I think we can safely say they have all fled to Universe 828 following their fight with Doctor Doom, and Doom has returned

[10:25] to Latveria on Universe 828. He's kidnapped Franklin, and at this point in the film, I think the X-Men universe is completely destroyed, and maybe even the MCU as well. And this sudden and

[10:37] rapid collapse of the multiverse, this universe after universe all just blipping from existence, I think this is all part of Dr. Doom's master plan to accelerate the destruction of the multiverse, and it having now begun.

[10:49] In fact, not to keep going back to too many leaks and stuff, but I feel like everything's out on the table now, there were reports that Dr. Doom and Reed put a plan together to build cannons and place them on each individual universe

[11:01] so that they can fire at each other's barriers and blow up the barriers that connect them, completely separating these universes forever so that incursions won't happen. But we can learn that that's all horseshit, and that what Doctor Doom's true plan was is to use these canons to have all of these birds destroy one another, and that is because he wants the multiverse to just hurry up and collapse so that he may rebuild it in his image and make things the way he wants them to be.

[11:27] I've also read some reports that while our heroes are in the X-Men universe, we will see Steve and Thor travel to the TVA, and that is where they will learn and realize that Doom has been behind it all, and then they will travel back to the X-Men universe, and that's when Thor shows up and is like, you will beg for hell long before I grant it.

[11:44] So this TVA scene with Mobius and Obi and everything starting to collapse, that could be just moments before Doom's henchmen storm the place, destroy the TVA, kill a bunch of agents, and that destroyed TVA could be what Thor and Steve walk in on and perhaps find a dying Mobius, and Mobius could be the one to tell them who attacked and what they looked like.

[12:06] And remember, all of Doom's followers are dressed like Doom. Metal mask and a cloak. And I'm telling you, with us getting that visual on the TVA screens of the multiversal tree losing timelines,

[12:18] I wonder if we'll actually get to see a visual of Loki, like, holding the strands one by one as they're, like, snapping out of existence. And, like, see Loki trying to hold it together, but just each universe, each string just...

[12:31] Maybe we'll even see Loki himself be attacked by Doom's people. Okay, so that's all the Loki and Steve and TVA stuff. I went a little long on that, but I'm excited. Sue me. So now let's talk Hulk.

[12:43] In Spider-Man Brand New Day, we see Jean Grey break that barrier that Bruce Banner had created in his mind to suppress the consciousness of the Hulk. Bruce has been said to have been taken to a psychiatric ward, and now we know that he is actually living two miles beneath the surface of the Earth in some kind of government facility where he is working on gamma suppression tech.

[13:02] and he is terrified of the Hulk ever getting out again and hurting anyone else. Now, we see him doing a video log of his research. Why? Well, I think maybe because this is just a scene that was shot specifically for Endgame Encore and took maybe like a few hours to put together I think it a scene that may have been just solely shot for this re See unlike all the other scenes I don think this one is actually in Doomsday

[13:26] I think come the end of Doomsday, and especially in Secret Wars, we will learn that Doom has taken Bruce and released the Hulk, but I think this scene of Bruce on a webcam and getting taken by a Doom off-camera, I think that is just for in-game encore,

[13:40] and I'm honestly surprised that they didn't just make it the post-credit scene for Spider-Man Brand New Day, because that would have been a great little Doomsday. for that movie. In fact, I wonder if it was shot for Brand New Day, and for some reason they opted not to include it, and then decided, well, hell, let's throw it on Encore. Anyway, what does Doom

[13:56] want with Bruce? Well, I see two options. One, just like we're seeing Doom go to Reed for help to execute his master plan, through deception, of course, we could see him go to another universe's genius for their help as well, and that could be Dr. Bruce Banner. But it's also possible that

[14:10] Doom isn't really interested in Banner, he's interested in the Hulk, and we could see Doom offered to help Bruce permanently solve his Hulk problem, putting that brain and brawn together without having to wear any tech

[14:22] or being concerned that the beast will escape, and this could be the creation of Maestro. Maestro is basically the worst possible future version of the Hulk. He's Bruce Banner from a possible future where nuclear war has devastated the Earth,

[14:35] most of our heroes are dead, and Hulk has survived long enough to become an incredibly powerful dictator. And what makes Maestro especially terrifying is that he basically has the best parts of Bruce Banner and Hulk

[14:47] in terms of brain and brawn, but he has none of Bruce or Hulk's morality. He has Bruce's genius level intelligence and Hulk's ridiculous strength, durability, healing factor, and ability to get stronger and bigger,

[15:00] but like I said, he lacks morals. And I think we could see in Secret Wars an entire section of Battleworld which will be in the void at the end of time, and I think we could see Maestro given by Doom his own little kingdom of Hulk's

[15:13] where he will rule, just like we saw in that week's concept art for Secret Wars, which showed us a Hulk village. And it is also worth noting that Bruce, he is rocking a beard, which my show has as well. And hey guys, by the way, while you're here,

[15:52] Now, I said like a year and three months ago that this could be retroactively, or perhaps even originally, intended to be a tease that Downey would be back in some way, shape, or form. That now, of course, being Doctor Doom, and I think that's an idea that Downey and Heidi have been kicking around

[16:08] for way longer than they are letting on. And now, here we are. We have shots of Doom making a mask that has now been intercut into these final moments of the film with that cranking sound. And these brief shots look a lot like the scene from Iron Man 1 when he is making the Mark I armor.

[16:23] We see the hammer swinging, the frames in the background, the mask he is holding with those same pinchers. It looks just like Tony in that scene. It looks just like the Mark I mask. And I think it is safe to say that this all but confirms that, yeah, there's a damn connection between Tony and Doom.

[16:38] And I see two options here regarding the mask. One, this is all part of Doom's origin, right? Where we'll see him creating his mask for the first time following the scarring of his face. And that could be really poetic because we are seeing his origin as Doctor Doom,

[16:52] where, of course, you know, that scene in Iron Man 1 where he's making a Mark I armor, that's his origin as Iron Man. Now, the other option could be that this is a Doom who we already see wearing his angry eyes mask, and he is now making another mask, a more diplomatic nice guy mask,

[17:06] for his plan to deceive our heroes. And I've been saying for a couple weeks now, but if you look at this other mask that Doom wears for a bulk of the movie, it looks a lot like an Iron Man mask.
