AI Summary

The video discusses the psychology of tilt in League of Legends, focusing on mindset and responsibility. The speaker shares coaching insights on how to prevent tilt and improve performance by adopting a 'player' mentality rather than a 'victim' mentality.

[01:33]
Player vs Victim Dilemma

A player sees themselves as central to shaping their situation and focuses on what they can control, while a victim blames external factors. To improve, you must see yourself as part of the problem.

[04:14]
Questions to Elicit Player Response

Ask yourself: How did I contribute? Could I have taken a more effective action? Could I have prepared better? What can I learn? These questions focus on self-improvement.

[05:39]
Cycle of Tilt

Lack of confidence leads to half-hearted attempts, poor results, unsatisfying feedback, and further reduced confidence. This cycle perpetuates tilt.

[06:37]
Toxic Cycle of Blame

Inconsistent gameplay leads to blaming external factors, which leads to tilt and autopilot, then back to inconsistent gameplay.

[07:17]
Identity-Driven Improvement

Instead of letting impulses dictate behavior, define your desired identity (e.g., focused, resilient) and reverse-engineer behaviors that align with that identity.

[12:43]
Core Reasons for Tilt

1) Not aware of how they could have impacted the game. 2) Unrealistic expectations of their own skill. 3) Not understanding that not every game is winnable. 4) Playing when not focused.

[22:44]
Attention Residue

The brain retains focus on previous activities. To avoid tilt, avoid consuming emotionally charged content before games. Instead, watch League-related content or replays.

[24:29]
Inner Game of Tennis

When tilted, focus on breathing to become present. This helps quiet the mind and refocus on the game.

[26:51]
Chaos and Fundamentals

League is inherently chaotic. Master fundamentals (CSing, map awareness) so they become muscle memory, freeing mental space to adapt to chaos.

Overcoming tilt requires taking full responsibility, setting realistic expectations, and focusing on what you can control. By defining your ideal identity and practicing mindfulness, you can improve your mental game and climb.

[00:00] hi everyone welcome to another video so

[00:02] today's video is going to be a little

[00:03] different to my usual content this one's

[00:05] going to be a very much a personal video

[00:07] just me and you me in the camera and

[00:09] talking all about tilt now I've had a

[00:12] lot of you guys in the discord or in the

[00:14] YouTube comments talking to me about how

[00:16] do I overcome tilt how do I prevent

[00:18] myself from tilting what should I do if

[00:20] I get tilted or what's going on mentally

[00:23] how can I prepare myself how can i play

[00:25] my best League of Legends now I haven't

[00:28] really shared any of the information

[00:30] that I'm about to share with in this

[00:31] video to anyone else apart from the team

[00:34] that I actually coached for the past

[00:36] three years so you know especially in

[00:38] 2017 2018 2019 I've been learning a lot

[00:41] refining my craft as a coach and really

[00:44] learning a lot about the mental side of

[00:46] League of Legends so this one's going to

[00:47] be quite interesting I'm not sure it's

[00:50] gonna be very I guess Theory oriented

[00:51] but again I'm gonna have a very

[00:53] practical element to it talking about

[00:55] specifics that you guys can implement in

[00:57] your own soloqueue experience but again

[00:59] it's going to be very much just me in

[01:00] the camera talking through a bunch of

[01:02] stuff so if this is a for you you can

[01:03] stop now but again I highly highly

[01:05] recommend taking the time to watch this

[01:08] video and and really conceptualize it

[01:11] and have a think about it in your own

[01:12] time because again it is very dense but

[01:14] trust me it will be worth it now so work

[01:17] the way we're going to do this video is

[01:19] I'm going to talk about a few theory a

[01:20] few underlying concepts that are

[01:22] important to understand then we're going

[01:24] to go into the specifics about tilt and

[01:26] then one give us gonna round it off with

[01:27] a few more a little bit more Theory now

[01:30] so let's talk about firstly one of my

[01:33] favorite concepts with improvement this

[01:36] is all concepts around improvement and

[01:37] preventing tilt now this one is called

[01:39] the player versus victim dilemma now

[01:43] back in the day when I coached I walls I

[01:45] used to talk about this one a lot and I

[01:48] always used to try and get my players to

[01:50] be a player now what is a player verse

[01:52] victim mean now to be a player it means

[01:56] you need to see yourself as a central

[01:58] character as someone who has contributed

[02:01] to shape the current situation they are

[02:03] in and thus affect its future now a

[02:06] player is someone who focuses on all the

[02:09] things that are within their control

[02:10] where as a victim you know they play the

[02:12] victim just like you

[02:13] real life they focus on all the things

[02:15] that are outside they can feel they

[02:16] blame externals they never take

[02:18] responsibility for anything that's

[02:20] happening around them now you can choose

[02:23] to either focus on the things inside

[02:25] your control and be a player or you can

[02:26] choose to focus on the things beyond

[02:28] your control and be a victim now

[02:30] remember if you want to be a part of the

[02:33] solution you need to see yourself as

[02:35] part of the problem and you can't this

[02:38] is literally the crux of improvement in

[02:40] League of Legends and preventing tilt is

[02:42] seeing yourself as a you won't even be

[02:44] able to get to the solution unless you

[02:46] see yourself as part of the problem now

[02:48] remember that all results are a

[02:51] consequence of the interplay between a

[02:53] certain challenge and the ability to

[02:56] respond to it that literally and you can

[02:58] kind of see how that's literally

[03:00] response ability now remember that power

[03:03] is the prize of responsibility and

[03:06] accountability is its price now if you

[03:09] want to be a player and totally

[03:10] responsible it's obviously going to come

[03:12] at a cost and that caught a cost of that

[03:14] price is accountability now it doesn't

[03:17] feel good sometimes to be accountable

[03:18] because every single game you lose and

[03:20] if you have this player mentality you're

[03:22] gonna be like what could I have done

[03:23] better and it's it's very easy to play

[03:25] the victim it's very easy and tempting

[03:28] to just be like you know what I'm gonna

[03:30] blame the result on my bot lane or my

[03:32] jungler or my teammate or my partner

[03:35] whatever it is or even the ranked system

[03:37] riot game for the lack of the poor

[03:40] matchmaking whatever it is it's a lot

[03:42] easier to go down that route now this is

[03:46] something that will take time and until

[03:48] you really embrace this over time and it

[03:50] will take time so I'm gonna be overnight

[03:51] until you feel the power of

[03:54] responsibility and feel the power of

[03:56] accountability and earn it and you and

[04:00] over time it actually manifests in so

[04:03] many different ways and over time if you

[04:05] can really embrace this it will it will

[04:08] have massive results on your mindset and

[04:11] your ability to win games now what are

[04:14] some questions that actually elicit the

[04:17] player response now these are questions

[04:19] that these are the questions that you

[04:21] can just ask yourself players are

[04:23] questions like how did I contribute to

[04:26] this situation so you

[04:27] ask these questions after the or game

[04:29] interviewed how did I contribute to this

[04:31] situation number two

[04:33] Ken could I have thought of a more

[04:35] effective course of action that I could

[04:37] have taken in the game number three

[04:39] could I have made reasonable

[04:41] preparations to reduce the risk or

[04:43] impact of what happened in that game

[04:45] maybe I wasn't focused from level one

[04:48] and maybe I could have prepared mentally

[04:49] by thinking or what is their ability or

[04:52] their likelihood that they will level

[04:53] one invade and lastly what can you learn

[04:56] from this experience now notice how all

[04:58] of these questions are bringing the

[05:01] earnest on you you're not blaming anyone

[05:04] else you're not asking question these

[05:06] questions are all in your control how

[05:08] did I contribute what was a more

[05:10] effective course of action that I could

[05:11] have done or or I could have taken what

[05:14] is you know some of the preparations

[05:15] that I could have done to reduce the

[05:17] risk or impact of what happened in the

[05:19] game what can I learn from this

[05:20] experience it's all me me me which is

[05:22] very empowering you'll notice that this

[05:25] is a common theme when within this video

[05:27] it's all about improving it's all about

[05:29] putting it all on you taking

[05:31] responsibility being accountable for

[05:33] what actually happens in every single

[05:34] game now generally people who get stuck

[05:39] in a specific illu or they get tilted

[05:41] they get into this form of cycle now

[05:44] this can get a little deep so if you

[05:46] need time if you have any questions

[05:47] about this feel free to leave them below

[05:48] in the comments or in my discord now

[05:50] generally a player because when they're

[05:54] tilted or stuck they lack confidence now

[05:56] when they lack confidence this leads to

[05:58] having you know a half-ass attempt or a

[06:01] hesitant attempt at winning a game so

[06:03] playing a game when they're not their

[06:05] best self then that leads to poor

[06:07] results right because you're not going

[06:09] to be playing your best so you're gonna

[06:10] have a poor result of the game that's

[06:12] then gonna lead into having unsatisfying

[06:14] feedback because there's not really much

[06:15] to review in the game because you

[06:17] already know inside of you that you

[06:18] didn't really play your best and then

[06:20] again that reiterates and continues to

[06:22] reduce your confidence now this is a

[06:24] never-ending cycle that it goes around

[06:27] and around and until you are aware of

[06:30] this cycle happening in the background

[06:31] you won't be able to get out of it

[06:34] another very toxic cycle that actually

[06:37] goes on is this one where you have

[06:39] inconsistent gameplay

[06:41] due to a lack of focus or a lack of

[06:43] fundamentals which leads to you blaming

[06:47] external factors whether it's teammates

[06:49] riot games matchmaking your joy partner

[06:52] whatever it is then that leads to tilt

[06:54] that leads to autopilot and then it's a

[06:57] rinse repeat again inconsistent gameplay

[07:00] so this is why again I also try and

[07:02] focus I always try and really really

[07:06] talk about the importance of having mid

[07:09] solid mid fundamentals and taking

[07:11] complete responsibility and every single

[07:13] every single game and coming in

[07:15] completely focused now let's tie this

[07:17] into another interesting concept this is

[07:20] one that I'm really I guess I have a

[07:22] personal attachment to because this was

[07:24] very much me when I was struggling in

[07:26] soloqueue and this one was again a

[07:28] concept that resonated with a lot of pro

[07:30] players as well now I'm gonna quickly

[07:33] step it through and then go back and

[07:35] then go into more detail now generally

[07:37] the overarching principle here is you go

[07:39] from this there's two overarching ways

[07:43] to bring about a confident being and

[07:45] your best self first the first one which

[07:48] is this is not what not to do this is

[07:51] where we go from import having impulses

[07:53] and feelings which lead to a set of

[07:55] behaviors which reiterate a certain

[07:59] identity and then there's the other way

[08:01] around which is you are very clear on an

[08:05] identity which then you can

[08:07] reverse-engineer the behaviors which

[08:09] bring about a certain type of feeling

[08:12] and impulses now let's let's go back a

[08:15] little bit and talk about the first one

[08:16] now let's let's talk about some of the

[08:20] impulses and feelings that most people

[08:22] have while they're tilted or stuck in a

[08:24] specific Ehlo this you know they may

[08:26] have feelings of anger frustration

[08:29] sadness you know all those those mixed

[08:33] emotions of being tilted now if you

[08:35] combine all that and you internalize

[08:38] those in you you act on those impulses

[08:40] and feelings that actually leads to a

[08:43] set of behaviors now what are those

[08:45] behaviors look like that that looks like

[08:47] you know a lack of focus in game auto

[08:50] piloting missing more CS less side Lane

[08:53] awareness worse trades

[08:55] in lane just genuine again playing

[08:58] poorly and losing LP now over time if

[09:02] you continually act on these impulses

[09:04] which reiterate and constantly bring

[09:06] about the same forms of behavior that

[09:08] over time reiterates and forces you to

[09:13] become and identify yourself as that

[09:15] specific type of person so you begin to

[09:18] identify yourself as the type of person

[09:21] who has these sorts of impulses that is

[09:25] just who he is when he plays league and

[09:26] that is the sort of behavior that you

[09:28] identify yourself as so for example you

[09:31] will eventually identify yourself as a

[09:32] player who I just play all the time

[09:34] order on all our autopilot i I just get

[09:37] tilted every single game I don't really

[09:39] care if I miss this because that's just

[09:41] the way I play the game I'm not

[09:43] disciplined I don't have good sideline

[09:45] awareness and over time the mental

[09:47] aspect of this you become and you

[09:49] identify yourself as this sort of player

[09:51] now this is so toxic and so hard to

[09:55] change and it's so common nowadays

[09:57] within within soul EQ specifically and

[10:01] Liga Legends is that we we forget that

[10:04] if we continually go down this cycle we

[10:07] become a very less less confident less

[10:10] focused more autopilot centric version

[10:12] of ourselves now you may ask how can we

[10:15] change this Curtis what do you suggest

[10:18] now we can actually go the other way

[10:20] around we can actually go from identity

[10:23] to behaviour to to impulses which would

[10:25] look something like this where let's

[10:27] let's think about my best self it from

[10:29] my let's use an example like me my best

[10:32] self what is the identity of me of

[10:34] Curtis that I want to bring about in a

[10:35] game well I want to be the most focused

[10:39] the most resilient player the part of

[10:41] the person who doesn't want to miss a

[10:43] single CS I want to be the player who's

[10:45] constantly constantly looking at

[10:47] sidelines constantly being the player

[10:48] taking full and total responsibility for

[10:51] my game right so this is what I want my

[10:54] identity to be but how do I get to that

[10:56] well I need to be aware of the identity

[10:58] I want because then that will dictate my

[11:00] actions in game well that will mean that

[11:02] I won't queue up when I'm not focused

[11:04] it will mean that I will play when I'm

[11:07] very well rested and ready

[11:08] to put my 100% into the game it will

[11:11] mean that I won't flame my teammates and

[11:13] again take a few different deep breaths

[11:15] to be focused within the game and not

[11:17] tilt it will also mean that I'll focus

[11:19] extremely hard on all the detail focus

[11:22] on the map awareness focus on sideline

[11:23] roaming focus on my CS and trading

[11:25] patterns again notice how the behavior

[11:28] is again tying directly into the

[11:30] identity that I want and now as a result

[11:33] if you do these things thought flowing

[11:35] on from that in the feelings or the

[11:37] impulses that are brought about because

[11:38] of that and that's a feeling of you know

[11:42] satisfaction contentment that you won

[11:44] this game and you tried your best and

[11:45] you gave your best shot and you're

[11:46] actually improving you know happiness in

[11:49] elation that you won that gained you

[11:50] expressed your best self so you can see

[11:54] that this is a much more healthy a much

[11:57] more healthy way of you know very much a

[12:02] more healthy way of being and an overall

[12:05] the soloqueue experience so try this out

[12:07] yes it is a little bit a little bit you

[12:09] know lala and stuff and a bit crazy but

[12:11] trust me if you can take the time to

[12:14] think about the form of identity that

[12:16] you want to be who or who do you want to

[12:18] be I don't even know what your name is

[12:20] right now and the other side of the

[12:21] camera right now but whoever's watching

[12:22] this video say to yourself I Curtis I

[12:25] want to identify my I want to identify

[12:28] myself as someone who is untouchable

[12:31] missus gets every single CS take the

[12:34] best trades is also always focused in

[12:36] soloqueue etc and then again you can

[12:38] bring about their behaviors because of

[12:40] that now let's quickly talk now actually

[12:43] let's get into the core reasons that I

[12:45] feel that induce tilt in a player number

[12:48] one they aren't actually aware of how

[12:52] they themselves could have impacted or

[12:55] altered a game so in their mind they

[12:58] feel like they played fine or perfectly

[13:00] in some situations and therefore need to

[13:03] place blame onto all the other people

[13:05] that make that to make themselves feel

[13:07] better about losing that game now this

[13:09] can be fixed by just a lot of the time

[13:12] just by educating them and showing them

[13:14] these are all the ways that you could

[13:16] have played this game better

[13:18] so don't direct your attention and all

[13:20] your energy

[13:21] worrying about your teammates of what

[13:22] they could have done better even if you

[13:24] think in your mind that you've played

[13:26] perfectly or fine I could guarantee you

[13:28] in the first I could watch your void in

[13:30] the first five minutes and literally

[13:31] talk for an hour about all the things

[13:34] you could have done better and I could

[13:36] do the exact same thing about myself

[13:38] even myself at a at a grandmaster

[13:40] challenger level I can break down my

[13:42] first five minutes a lot of the time for

[13:44] an hour and talk about all the things I

[13:45] could've done better now that if they

[13:48] are aware of that then that's gonna

[13:49] prevent them from feeling that the game

[13:52] was out of their control that they they

[13:54] they won't feel the need to to place

[13:57] blame on others within the game now

[13:59] number two this is what a personal

[14:02] favorite of mine and something that I

[14:03] still to this day struggle with is

[14:05] having too high of an expectation of

[14:08] their own game play where it's not based

[14:10] in reality so this leads to hearing

[14:13] things like I deserve to be in platinum

[14:15] but my teammates always feed or I always

[14:19] get trolls

[14:19] now these sorts and all sorts of

[14:23] comments around this sort of thing now

[14:24] it's easy to step back it's it's sorry

[14:27] it's not easy to step back and say you

[14:30] know what maybe I'm actually not that

[14:32] good maybe I'm actually not at the level

[14:34] I think I am because maybe and

[14:37] especially because we can actually

[14:39] regress in skill level very easily maybe

[14:42] you have me number we'll play so much

[14:43] you haven't been able to play in a week

[14:44] or two maybe you've played another game

[14:46] or you've just been really busy at work

[14:47] or school and sometimes it feels really

[14:51] bad to just say you know what I'm just

[14:52] not a platinum mid laner and no one ever

[14:54] does that they always think I am better

[14:56] I am the best I deserve to be there and

[14:59] everyone else is preventing me from

[15:01] getting there now or maybe you just play

[15:04] it on a smurf and got worse now the way

[15:06] to overcome this one is actually just

[15:09] realize that their current of that is

[15:12] not their current level of play and take

[15:14] the eager hit and say you know what

[15:15] maybe I'm just not a platinum mid laner

[15:17] but that's okay because I have all the

[15:19] time in the world to improve it's not a

[15:22] race

[15:22] everyone improves at their own pace but

[15:25] this is actually interesting because it

[15:27] extends to more of a societal problem

[15:29] where even from a young age in school we

[15:32] are always given a pat on the back

[15:34] and given participation medals no one

[15:37] tells us we are bad at something like

[15:40] let's just say for example you're in

[15:41] math class and you don't get a question

[15:43] no one says you didn't understand it

[15:46] because you were too lazy you were too

[15:48] lazy in class and didn't focus or you

[15:49] didn't do your homework everyone else

[15:51] will blame the teacher they will blame

[15:54] the map math being a an incredibly hard

[15:56] topic they will they will say oh no it's

[15:58] just math just isn't your strong point

[16:00] they will always make excuses as to why

[16:03] you didn't get that question and

[16:04] sometimes guys the truth really hurts

[16:07] right it hurts even for me sometimes I

[16:09] have to tell myself Curtis sometimes

[16:11] just not as good as you were but you

[16:13] know what we need to hear the truth

[16:15] because that is what will allow us to

[16:17] focus and direct our attention to where

[16:20] it can be of most used to us and

[16:23] actually build confidence in a really

[16:25] genuine way that is actually will last

[16:27] will stand the test of time rather than

[16:30] you know getting a you know what Curtis

[16:32] pat on the back you're all good you just

[16:35] you know the Blues your teammates fall

[16:37] or you are that good just blame

[16:39] something else you know so that is

[16:41] probably that's actually a massive one

[16:42] for a lot of people now the third one is

[16:45] actually people not understanding that

[16:48] every game isn't winnable even the best

[16:51] players in the world only have like a

[16:53] fifty five percent win ratio or

[16:55] something and there is literally Korean

[16:58] guys is literally Korean Pro players

[17:00] that have negative win rates at the

[17:02] moment to think about that there's a

[17:04] player I believe like Cruz on or

[17:05] something he's like plays for in the one

[17:07] of the teams I don't know if it's in the

[17:08] main league but the second leg and he is

[17:10] an amazing middle in a really good I

[17:12] think he has like a negative win rails

[17:13] is one of those mid laners and it's

[17:15] really common guys so you not every

[17:18] single game is winnable but remember

[17:20] that there's a fine line between

[17:21] understanding this concept and then

[17:24] complacency because people can take this

[17:27] to the extreme and use it as a cover-up

[17:28] for poor performances you know on their

[17:30] own behalf you know so you've got to be

[17:32] a little bit careful and this also ties

[17:34] into players nowadays not having enough

[17:37] patience they lack patience and they

[17:39] think that improvement comes overnight

[17:41] you know it's like remember that

[17:43] improving at League of Legends is

[17:45] extremely hard right there's no quick

[17:48] it's not like you go to the gym one day

[17:50] you lift a bit of iron you pump me to

[17:52] iron you go home you're gonna be jacked

[17:54] you know it's just not gonna be the case

[17:55] there are things that you can do to

[17:57] optimize speed up that process but again

[18:00] there's a lot of hard work and it takes

[18:02] a lot of time right

[18:04] so remember pee and a lot of the time

[18:06] people tilt because they watch one of my

[18:08] videos they watch it once they go into a

[18:11] game and they can't implement it and

[18:13] they're like oh this is so frustrating

[18:14] I'm so bad or whatever it is and they

[18:16] get tilted but no you know how many

[18:19] times how many games I played to figure

[18:22] out that strategy or figure it or play

[18:23] that specific champion

[18:25] I've played like I've played hundreds of

[18:27] games thousands of games Orianna and

[18:29] then some of my best champions you know

[18:30] so it takes time now the fourth one guys

[18:33] this is a really really common one now

[18:36] people play so much when they're not

[18:39] focused

[18:40] remember that League of Legends or

[18:42] climbing in Sala Q anyway or being able

[18:44] to carry a game or influence a game more

[18:46] than you know more than the average

[18:48] person can actually takes a lot of focus

[18:52] and a lot of attention now what happens

[18:55] if you go into a game when you're not

[18:57] focused and actually leads to poorer

[18:58] decision-making which can actually again

[19:00] bring about a loss which then increases

[19:03] the chances of getting flamed by

[19:05] teammates when you know you make you

[19:06] miss play or something which then leads

[19:08] to you becoming angry or frustrated or

[19:11] tilted this person then proceeds to

[19:13] queue up again not even realizing that

[19:16] they're not even playing there but

[19:17] they're at their best self they're not

[19:18] playing at their current level of play

[19:20] and then it just creates the same

[19:22] conditions for to an assist of rinse

[19:24] repeat and then they play all night lose

[19:26] six games in a row and then you go on my

[19:28] disco and say oh I'm so tilted my

[19:31] teammates are so bad but no you just

[19:33] played when you weren't focused okay and

[19:35] not every single time you play it at

[19:38] night maybe you come home from big day

[19:39] at work or a big day at university or

[19:42] school and you know what maybe it's

[19:43] actually not best to climb on your main

[19:45] that night maybe it's best to do

[19:47] something else play another game play on

[19:48] your smurf play a few normals play a few

[19:50] a Rams anything else because climbing is

[19:53] it takes a lot of energy guys now this

[19:58] also if you say maybe you're just not

[20:00] focus for one game maybe

[20:02] you're not really tired but you just

[20:03] you've lacked focus what you can do is

[20:05] what I what I recommend I say this all

[20:07] the time is go through a walk class you

[20:09] know it might be snowing where you are

[20:11] right now but you know walk around the

[20:13] house or something get your boots on and

[20:15] go trudge through the snow go read a

[20:17] book

[20:17] go do some push-ups go to the gym it

[20:20] doesn't matter

[20:21] step away from the desk and get away

[20:23] from the computer and mentally refresh

[20:25] guys and you can't mentally refresh if

[20:27] you're just on the computer sitting

[20:28] there like maybe you should queue up

[20:31] again like that's just a very

[20:33] inefficient way of refreshing now this

[20:36] last one isn't really about tilt but I

[20:38] thought it was awesome to mention is

[20:40] that nowadays I see a constant fear of

[20:44] rent like people call a ranked and

[20:46] anxiety now remember guys that LP is a

[20:50] byproduct of improvement you have to go

[20:53] out there and fail and fail and fail

[20:56] again and then fail some more and then

[20:58] fail and then fail you know many games I

[21:01] lost to get when I actually hit rank one

[21:03] you know how many seasons I was just

[21:05] losing getting flamed and losing a

[21:07] perfect example of Shoshone fire he now

[21:11] is the jungler for Team Liquid Academy I

[21:14] remember when he was in my games when he

[21:16] first got to Diamond and he was

[21:18] originally a gold player the season

[21:21] before and he used to int every game now

[21:24] people used to flame him so hard right

[21:29] because he used he shone used to just

[21:30] push his limits and just die and int and

[21:33] everyone says sure just give up what are

[21:35] you doing stop playing the game stop

[21:36] killing up you're just trash just stop

[21:39] that guy focused and then he failed and

[21:42] then he failed and then he failed he

[21:44] went to Korea got ranked to come back

[21:46] and then failed and failed went to na

[21:48] joined the main team and failed now he's

[21:50] trying again in an academy we are always

[21:53] we just we're always stuck in this

[21:55] fairyland in our mind that we think

[21:57] we're just going to queue up and have a

[21:58] really great League of Legends

[21:59] experience every single time it's just

[22:01] not the case and in terms of improving

[22:04] guys you have to put yourself through

[22:05] the fire to actually improve you've got

[22:08] to push your limits feel the pain have

[22:10] those painful experiences to actually

[22:12] see where you're at and then start from

[22:14] there

[22:15] and is exactly like Jim if you go to the

[22:17] gym and you're lifting really light

[22:20] weights you're not really gonna gain

[22:22] much muscle ie you may improve a little

[22:24] bit you'll get a little bit of

[22:25] cardiovascular fitness whatever but it

[22:28] is the exact same for someone who just

[22:29] plays low elo games all the time or they

[22:31] just play normal games all the time or

[22:32] they're just scared of playing ranked

[22:34] you will not improve this way

[22:36] now lastly there's a few other concepts

[22:39] I quickly want to talk about that I

[22:40] think will be very beneficial for you to

[22:42] understand in terms of tilt now this one

[22:44] was one that was very big when I was and

[22:47] I was that I used a lot for my coaching

[22:50] there's a concept called attention

[22:52] residue now the way the brain works is

[22:56] let's just say you are on your computer

[22:58] and you're on Facebook and you're in

[23:01] queue and then on Facebook a really

[23:03] funny video comes up or a really

[23:05] controversial video or maybe you're a

[23:06] political guy and you know I think about

[23:08] Trump comes up and you get really riled

[23:10] up you get angry and you're just

[23:12] thinking about it but then you're Q's

[23:13] pops and you've already clicked except

[23:14] you're going into trance like you've

[23:16] clicked your champion and then you're

[23:17] still all tapping onto Facebook now

[23:19] you're gonna get into game and the way

[23:22] the brain works is that it won't just as

[23:24] soon as you close that Facebook tab your

[23:27] brain won't just switch off and be like

[23:30] I'm focused it takes time attention

[23:32] residue your mind will still be thinking

[23:34] subconsciously about what you've just

[23:36] watched and the more powerful thing the

[23:40] more powerful or emotional the response

[23:43] was to whatever you've just been doing

[23:44] before playing your mind is gonna be

[23:46] attached to it this is why a lot of the

[23:49] time I actually recommend only consuming

[23:52] League of Legends content or something

[23:54] that is to do with what's going to help

[23:56] you in that next game maybe watching

[23:58] your replay of your last game watching a

[24:00] vote on YouTube of something or watching

[24:02] a guide whatever and then go into a game

[24:04] because those things are going to be

[24:06] very much aligned or similar to what

[24:09] you're gonna be experiencing in that

[24:10] next game but if you're watching some

[24:12] weird vlog or you know you're doing

[24:14] whatever you're a cooking show and then

[24:16] then you go into a game it's gonna be

[24:18] difficult for you to go from switched

[24:20] off

[24:20] to switch on because of this attention

[24:22] residue and maybe I didn't explain it

[24:24] too well but if you have any more

[24:25] questions about this specific topic just

[24:27] let me know now

[24:29] from a tennis coach this is a book from

[24:33] his tennis coach that I got recommended

[24:35] I think it was called the inner game of

[24:36] tennis now this book was really

[24:38] interesting and it spoke oh I spoke a

[24:41] little bit about quieting the mind now

[24:44] he said this he said there's a quote he

[24:46] said the second your mind within a game

[24:49] drifts and starts wondering about

[24:51] whether you're going to win the game or

[24:53] lose the game what he recommends was to

[24:56] gently go back to focusing on your

[24:58] breathing to become present in the

[25:00] moment now in a game if you're tilted or

[25:03] you just died or you got first bloodied

[25:05] you had to boil your flash and you're

[25:07] back in base take if you take a few deep

[25:10] breaths guys take a few deep breaths you

[25:13] know in through the nose and out through

[25:17] the mouth okay now what you do if you

[25:20] focus your attention on your breathing

[25:21] you'll notice that you're not gonna be

[25:23] thinking about winning or losing anymore

[25:24] you're not going to be thinking about

[25:26] what people are thinking about you

[25:27] you're just going to be focused present

[25:30] in the moment ready to perform now this

[25:33] is a very simple thing you guys can try

[25:34] within your own your own games it works

[25:37] better for others more you know suffer

[25:40] for some people more than others but I

[25:43] found it personally to be very useful

[25:45] and I still to this day use it now

[25:48] another interesting example of this

[25:50] something that will kind of reiterate

[25:52] will tie this all together is think

[25:55] about if you if you go think back to a

[25:57] time when you played your best League of

[26:00] Legends right like maybe you play this

[26:02] little amateur tournament or ranked 5s

[26:04] game whatever it was or clash or maybe

[26:07] it was just a solid cue game last week

[26:08] that you played

[26:09] think back to that for a moment now what

[26:13] you'll realize is that you actually

[26:15] can't really remember much about it

[26:17] because this is because you were so

[26:19] present in the moment that you weren't

[26:22] thinking about anyone criticizing your

[26:24] gameplay you weren't thinking about

[26:26] congratulating yourself after you made a

[26:28] really good play within that game you

[26:30] weren't thinking within the game how to

[26:31] do something you weren't thinking how do

[26:33] I hit the skill shot whatever you were

[26:35] just in the moment you weren't thinking

[26:36] what anyone else thought about your game

[26:38] play our mind entered that state where

[26:42] you're just being present in the

[26:43] that's what we need to look to replicate

[26:45] that's what we want to aim to replicate

[26:47] and this is what the breathing exercises

[26:48] can help you do now lastly guys before

[26:51] we round up this video I want to talk

[26:52] you've heard me talk a lot about chaos

[26:55] now and you in within my silas video

[26:59] talked a lot about the concept chaos now

[27:01] it's important to note that there's a

[27:05] limit to how much you can influence the

[27:08] game on can all control a game because

[27:10] you're only one player out of ten within

[27:12] a game it's a team game right you're

[27:13] only one player within ten people now

[27:16] this means that the game is inherently

[27:18] designed to be filled with chaos and

[27:21] disorder this is what makes it fun

[27:23] that's why there's so many different

[27:25] things happening every single game

[27:27] that's why you can play this same map

[27:28] see this play the same champion the same

[27:31] matchup but you will still have a lot of

[27:32] fun because there's so many variables

[27:33] there's so much chaos and disorder now

[27:35] that's why it is absolutely essential to

[27:39] be focused on making the fundamentals

[27:42] like csing map awareness knowing your

[27:45] trading patterns skill shots etc so well

[27:48] that they don't occupy space in your

[27:50] mind it's just muscle memory so that now

[27:53] you're gonna have all the freedom

[27:54] mentally to be able to flow free for

[27:57] adapt overcome chaos that will not if

[28:01] will occur in the game that you're

[28:04] playing and that's just some I'll leave

[28:06] you I'll leave it there just for you to

[28:07] dwell on and there's I know this was a

[28:09] very dense video there's a lot of

[28:10] information again if you have any

[28:13] questions feel free to hit me up I

[28:15] wanted to wanted to do a video like this

[28:17] I'm not even sure if you know how're you

[28:20] even made it through this video if

[28:22] that's the case that's completely fine I

[28:24] thought I would do this video see get

[28:25] some feedback from the community see if

[28:27] you like it if it's interesting that

[28:29] maybe I can do a little bit more like

[28:31] this because I have so much I can talk

[28:32] about about the game on the mental side

[28:34] of things in terms of tilt mentality etc

[28:36] again I just didn't think it was true

[28:38] helpful for the general public but maybe

[28:39] it is alright so let me know thanks for

[28:42] tuning in guys and lastly remember I'm

[28:43] actually picking up my new PC today so

[28:45] I'm super excited so in my next video

[28:48] quality will be much better and remember

[28:50] that there's actually in a giveaway

[28:53] going on at the moment for coaching so

[28:55] feel free to enter that one as

[28:56] that's in the discord Cheers thanks for

[28:59] watching
