Venom as Spider-Man 5's Villain — A New Theory?

[02:00] already way too many adaptations of this story. But what if I told you that in the last 30 years, every version of the black suit got the story [music] wrong? Spider-Man: Brand New Day sets up the perfect story for the original black

[02:14] suit story from the comics. So, we're going to explain how the black suit connects to Avengers: Secret Wars, and how this sets MCU. Buddy, love the new outfit. Black Suit

[02:27] is one of Spider-Man's most iconic stories ever. At this point, it's as unfortunate thing about so many adaptations, even the really good ones, is that they all get the original story wrong. The suit always corrupts

[02:40] Spider-Man, making him aggressive and evil, and then that will now feel like a overtaken by something that gives him great powers, but it makes him more finds himself hanging upside down from a building. He loses control and nearly

[02:54] kills one of his villains. He attacks MJ. He becomes a menace. So, he needs to forever. Looks very uh similar. The concept of the suit making Spider-Man evil isn't far from the

[03:08] comics. It actually started with the '90s animated series, and it became so definitive that every adaptation in the next 30 years handled the black suit mostly the same way. Even when they try to reinvent the black suit, the concept

[03:20] wrong, many of these stories are really, really good. And it gave us Bully But after 30 years, we think it's time for something new. And that new thing was actually the original story from the comics, which were released in 1984.

[03:34] Okay, so what's the story from the comics? Spider-Man gets the black suit originally in the8s crossover event, Secret Wars. Hey, that's the title of Avengers 6. Yes, it is. Although Avengers Doomsday and Secret Wars are

[03:46] mostly based on these Secret Wars from 2015, which deals with the multiverse. And I'm pretty sure that after the insane success of Brand New Day, Marvel will add Tom Holland to Secret Wars and he could get the black suit

[03:58] potentially. We see you in the symbiate guys for Secret Wars. Well, so in the comics, Spider-Man and a bunch of heroes and villains are teleported to a planet called Battle World. And after

[04:11] finds a blob of black alien goo that engulfves his body and becomes the black suit. So if Spider-Man ends up on Dr. Doom's Battle World, which is a realities. That's how he can get the symbiant, which means that Peter will

[04:25] already have the black suit at the start of Spider-Man 5. And yes, I know that in No Way Home, Venom leaves a piece of the black goo on Earth 616, but also Venom 3 kind of reccon this, and I don't see Tom Hardy returning, so we're going to get a

[04:38] new Venom in the MCU. No. Okay. What's that? Oh, are you okay? No, not yet. But I will be. See, the head and I got this really sharp pain in my shoulder right here. Like I knew my

[06:22] And here is the big difference from all the adaptations. The black suit wasn't an evil alien that wanted to corrupt Spider-Man. Instead, the symbiant wanted to help and protect him. The suit needs a host to survive, so it needs to

[06:35] protect the host. The black suit sees Spider-Man as the savior who freed it from imprisonment. So, the suit loves Peter. It wants to serve him. I love you so so so so so much. So, to help Peter,

[06:47] controlling his body while he's asleep, but it didn't do anything evil. Well, did take his body on joy rides without his consent, but the suit uses Peter's body to fight crime and protect the people of the city. And it established

[07:00] that the symbiate changes in response to its host. So, when the suit merges with Spider-Man, it seeks to help him be a hero to protect the weak and fight bad guys. But when the suit eventually bonds with Eddie Brock, it adopts all of his

[07:13] hate and anger and they become a venom. Eventually, Peter, Fantastic 4, discovers that the suit is sentient, and he immediately freaks out and tries to rip it off. And that's how the iconic church bell tower scene

[07:26] with the power of L loud noises. The forced separation from the alien drains Peter's energy and nearly kills him. But the symbiot doesn't attempt to take over Peter's body again and make

[07:39] him evil. Instead, the alien saves Peter's life, dragging him to safety. And only then it slithers away and eventually merges with Eddie. And that's it. The suit doesn't have an aggressive emotional effect on Peter. There is

[07:52] alien invasion in the service of an evil space god. And the symbiate doesn't want to turn New York into Gootown. And this original version of the suit actually fits into the story that Brand New Day sets up for Spider-Man 5. So here is our

[08:06] You have to choose. Are you Peter Parker or are you Brand New Day ends with Peter finally understanding that he is both Peter Parker and Spider-Man, meaning that he needs to find a healthy balance. But the

[08:20] problem is that Peter has no normal life. He devoted four years to being Spider-Man, essentially erasing the parts that made him Peter Parker. So, rebuilding his life shouldn't be a smooth process. Outside of Ned, he's got

[08:34] he even had a social security number because, remember, every trace that Peter Parker ever existed was erased by the memory spell. Erased from existence. Peter confessed his love to MJ and she

[08:47] might have some feelings for him, but she also doesn't remember him. And this is why they should just be friends, at least for now, especially since it's major love interest, but we'll talk about her in just a moment. Peter might

[09:00] actually live life as Peter Parker. And side note, I want Peter to work as a scientist, but he's a photographer. Yeah, I know he traditionally works for the Daily Bugle, but why would he work for them after they ruined his life? And

[09:13] also, everyone is a photographer now. Parker Parker, what need a photographer? So, I want Peter to use his gifts as a scientist and work for the Fantastic 4. Intelligence is not a privilege, it's a

[09:25] mankind. I could see Reed and Sue reestablishing the Future Foundation in New York after Secret Wars since I guess their universe will either be destroyed or merge with Earth 616. And if you didn't know, Peter

[09:38] and Johnny Storm are basically best friends in the comics. And the Fantastic 4 consider Spider-Man a member of their family. He even joined the team for a little while. And in the black suit saga, the Fantastic 4 helped Peter

[09:50] discover that the suit is an alien. And I hope something similar happens in the movie. So Spider-Man 5 could be the start of this beautiful friendship and line. Hey person, are you ready? It's time to go back

[11:03] us. Now, the reason why all of this stuff about Peter's normal life matters is because there's this looming threat hanging over his head. The arachn mutation nearly took over his human DNA because he didn't take care of himself

[11:15] and his body had to basically force him to get a life. So, when Peter chose to neglect his own life, the only one who suffered was him. But when he neglects his responsibilities as Spider-Man, the whole city suffers. So, being

[11:27] Parker is already kind of awful because he must balance these two impossible identities. But now he will be dealing with the constant anxiety that if he arachnid mutation will return and he will lose himself to it. And this is

[11:41] where the black suit takes over. Initially, the symbiot will just be a silent backseat driver in Peter's body, just happy to have a nice host. It will only act when Peter needs it, kind of like protecting his body from heavy

[11:53] damage or giving him a power boost when he's faced with a far more powerful foe. This is something else. Peter feels the most alive and free when he's swinging around the city, protecting innocence and taking down bad guys. But Peter's

[12:05] guilt and anxiety will then give the suit purpose. Just like in the original comics, the suit will feed on Peter's purpose as Spider-Man. And at night, it will start taking control over his body and fighting crime while he's asleep.

[12:18] But this is an alien life form that doesn't fully understand human emotions or consent. And despite the suits feeling toward Peter, the alien never reveals itself to him. It's self-preservation. The suit knows that

[12:30] Peter will never allow an invasive entity to control him. And this could be an interesting parallel to Peter's relationship with MJ. Peter tells her that he's been trying to live his life without her, but he can't. For years,

[12:42] refused to move on, using MJ as the excuse to abandon his normal life. From a certain point of view, this is a symbiotic relationship. Without MJ, influence the symbiot's relationship with Peter. the idea that the alien

[12:56] needs Peter. Without him, the suit can't survive. So, naturally, when Peter inevitably rips the suit off, the symbiot is going to feel extreme levels of hate toward the person who destroyed their relationship.

[13:08] you're breaking my heart. Want to cry? This could also create an interesting reinvention of the black suit. So, the suit won't just control Peter while he's asleep. It could now simply take over

[13:20] Peter's body during the day without his knowledge and go fight crime while Peter is busy at work or sitting in class. And here the suit can be a little more malicious by potentially manipulating Peter's memory. And what I mean is that

[13:32] on the news, he's going to freak out, probably assume that man's an impostor. That man is the imposttor. So, the alien could rewrite was him out there being Spider-Man, which then makes him assume that he's

[13:46] somehow managing to balance his dual identities way better than he thought. This is the suit's way to ease Peter's anxiety. So, the suit's going to lie to that depends on your definition of lying. Peter chose to keep the truth

[13:59] about the memory spell from MJ and Ned, believing the lie will protect them from getting hurt. In the same way, the suit believes that it helps Peter by keeping the truth from him, allowing him to focus on rebuilding his life. In Brand

[14:11] New Day, Peter uses his AI for mass surveillance, spying on everyone in New York with his facial recognition algorithm. This is ethically wrong. Peter violates the privacy of the people he protects, but he justifies it in his

[14:23] head because it's for the greater good. The greater good. The greater good. And the suit would mimic this same there, there's a character that these movies desperately need. The black

[14:37] Oh, hey, Spider. Felicia Hardy is one of Spider-Man's starts off as a thief and a villain, but quickly becomes his ally and lover. Catwoman, but what makes it really great is their messy, dysfunctional

[14:52] relationship. The way it goes is that Felicia isn't interested in Peter. She's into Spider-Man. She wants the superhero, not the normal dude who tries to balance his life. Are we going to be bad guys together, partner, or just

[15:05] Black Cat prowls the rooftops at night. She steals stuff, mostly for the thrill, but she also has fun beating up bad guys and hanging out with her favorite spider. She's so different from MJ, and that is why Peter is drawn to her. Black

[15:18] Cat can serve as the temptation for a life without the burdens of being Peter Parker. She is a chance for Peter to be what he loves, meaning Spider-Man, and to be with someone who loves him that way. She offers a clean slate because no

[15:31] matter how much Peter wants to be with MJ, unless Gan Gray restores those lost memories, MJ will never remember what she and Peter shared. And this can serve as the embodiment of Peter's crisis. On one side, there's Black Cat, a fresh

[15:44] normal life. And on the other hand, there's MJ representing that normal life, a life that Peter wants, but has to work so much harder to obtain, which So, it's not going to be easy. It's going to be really hard. The other major

[15:59] kind of torn on who that should be because whoever the villain is, they will inevitably play second fiddle to Venom. And yes, I think it needs to be trilogy, but while we like some aspects of those movies,

[16:12] Spider-Man. And look, I know people want Agent Venom. I love Agent Venom. That story is amazing. That should happen. But there can't be Venom without Eddie Brock. And the movie needs another villain before Venom. Now, our original

[16:25] Russian dude who hunts and he hunts Spider-Man because he is the ultimate dangerous game. So, he needs to beat Spider-Man to prove that he is better. It's uncomplicated and very easy to do without over stuffing the movie with too

[16:38] many villains. Craven is awesome, but he was already kind of ruined by Sony he doesn't really fit into the story we're telling here. See you, chump. will really feel like he's a placeholder until Eddie becomes Venom. And frankly,

[16:51] Craven deserves better. So maybe save Craven for Spider-Man 6 when we finally get the Sinister 6. So we got someone else in mind. Now this idea might seem a little convoluted, but stay with me. I think this can be really cool. In the

[17:04] because he's the author of his own tragedy. He makes a series of terrible mistakes that cost him everything. You see, there was this masked killer called the sin eater. Eddie exposed his identity, but his facts were wrong, and

[17:17] Spider-Man unmasked the real sin eater. I'm going to put some dirt in your eye. So Eddie got fired. his reputation ruined, his wife left him, and even his abusive father disowned him. But Eddie blames Spider-Man for everything that

[17:29] happened to him because he is unable to take responsibility for his actions. So when he bonds with the symbiant, his venomous hate merges with the suits resentment for Spider-Man and they become Venom. So here's how this should

[17:41] happen in the movie. Years ago, JJ Joda Jameson rose to fame because of all that People looked up to this boy and called him a hero. Well, I'll tell you what I call him. Public enemy number one. What if Eddie was the Daily Bugle's top

[17:54] reason why Jameson built his media empire? But then the memory spell happened and Spider-Man redeemed his reputation by being a very friendly and effective neighborhood Spider-Man. So years later, Eddie is a washed up hack

[18:07] and a hypocrite still hung up on his hate for Spider-Man. His wife leaves him loves her. And the only reason why Jameson still keeps him around is that he used to be a good reporter and he also kind of owes him, but he's on his

[18:20] last leg. So Eddie needs a big break to change his luck. And as it happens, Eddie captured the moment that Osborne killed May. He also has footage of Spider-Man nearly killing the goblin on Liberty Island. The memory spell erased

[18:32] videos, but Eddie still got the evidence. Only now Peter's face blurry or covered by the mask in all the pictures. Eddie keeps using it as proof that Spider-Man is a bad guy because he got this nice lady killed and he wanted

[18:45] to murder the goblin. But again, no one cares about it. No one except one guy. A city. Spider-Man clean the streets of crime. But all of a sudden, he's busy with his normal life, creating an opportunity for a new crime boss. A guy

[19:00] facility and steals the Green Goblins mask and glider. Because maybe they were left behind when Norman was sent back to his universe. Or this guy recreates the glider with the black market tech. And he makes himself a goblin mask, gets an

[19:13] orange armor and hood, and becomes the hobgoblin. Another goblin I'm sick of these goblins. Well, we've had a lot of Green Goblins, but Kingsley might look like an orange goblin. He's got the same tech and

[19:26] weapons, and he even takes a similar serum, but Hobgoblin isn't insane like serum, but Hobgoblin isn't insane like Osborne. mastermind and a mercenary, and he just wants to get rich and retire. Everyone

[19:40] '90s cartoon where he was voiced by Mark Hamill named Hobgoblin. And you're right on time for your funeral. And there's that who done it aspect from the comics. You see, for a very long

[19:54] period of time, his identity was a secret, and he kept framing other people for his crimes. He also brainwashed others into thinking that they were the real Hobgoblin. He's like really sophisticated. He even framed Ned Leads

[20:07] some people still think that Ned will become Hobgoblin in the MCU. He shouldn't, so just stop saying that. Oh. So, doing Hobgoblin can turn Spider-Man 5 into a murder mystery. Almost like the

[20:21] Riddler from the Batman. We don't know who's under the mask. They should even keep the actor a total secret. Hobgoblin can also hire Black Cat to manipulate Spider-Man and discover his secret identity for him. He could even hire

[20:34] other villains to distract Spider-Man, such as the Scorpion. Got to use Michael see the return of the Shocker, mostly for this. Get back here, Shocker. [screaming]

[20:47] This will play into Peter's anxiety. How can he focus on rebuilding his normal life when the city is under attack by all these villains? And the reason why he dresses up like the Goblin is because of Eddie's stories. He figures that May

[21:00] matter to Spider-Man somehow. And Hobgoblin believes that he can throw Spider-Man off his game by dressing up like the Goblin. He will be so distracted and confused and possibly let his emotions control him. And that is

[21:12] Spider-Man and take over the city. Hobgoblin is the perfect choice this is how we can get the aggressive black suit Spider-Man without the suit turning him evil. Peter nearly killed Osborne. He took Aunt May from him and

[21:26] that guilt still haunts him. Everywhere I go, I see his face. someone who looks just like the monster who killed his aunt flying hurting people? This could bring out the dark side in Peter. Not the suit, but

[21:42] his own guilt and anger, emotions that will be amplified by the suit because the alien only mirrors Peter's morality. So, if Peter hates this goblin guy, then the suit also hates him. And if Peter wants to kill him, maybe the symbiate

[21:56] decides that it should kill the hobgoblin while the suit is in control. And this moment will be a lightning rod for Eddie. Proof that all the hate he was spreading about Spider-Man is true. I have a nine-year-old daughter loves

[22:08] up to now? In this way, Eddie is indirectly responsible for the hobgoblin, and he plays an active role in his Spider-Man plays an active role in his Spider-Man conflict.
