[00:00] Today we are driving the 2025 Maverick R-Max XR-S. This makes 240 horsepower, costs around $46,000. This thing has the most menacing stance. It just has tons of ground clearance, super wide.

[00:18] We have forged aluminum, heavy-tuty knuckles, double ARMs, 24 inches of suspension travel in the front and the rear. The front shocks are Fox 2.5 podium RC-2s, piggyback with bypass. The rear suspension is a four-link trailing arm with forged aluminum heavy-duty tall knuckles.

[00:36] Rear shocks are Fox 3.0 podium RC-2s. This 999cc rotax engine is turbocharged to 3 cylinder. That's made it to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission with extra low range. We've got a lockable front and rear diff.

[00:52] We get true two-wheel drive, four-wheel drive with front diff lock, and a couple different drive modes to facilitate all of that traction. Dry weight here is about 26-2700 pounds depending on spec and options. This has a massive 142-inch wheelbase and a 13.2 gallon fuel tank,

[01:14] which is pretty good range out here in the desert. That's what you want. You want a lot of fuel to play with so you can have fun all day. We drove one of these back in Michigan a couple of years ago, and it still remains one of the most impressive side-by-size I've ever gotten behind the wheel of.

[01:27] I love the gearbox, I love the 3 cylinder. There's just tons and tons of power here. Again, 240 horsepower and a side-by-side. That weighs about 27-2800 pounds. That's a lot of power. This thing just gets up and over anything around here.

[01:41] We've got some big sand dunes, some lot of big fast trails here. There's someone surfing down the dunes on a snowboard. Anyway, so we're going to drive this Maverick. Let's go check it out. See what it can do. Charlie's going to lead the way.

[01:55] We've out here with a couple different side-by-sides, and let's hit it. We've got some really big landscape out here at the racer vehicle recreation area. Interior is pretty high-tech.

[02:11] The engine starts to stop, but in a whole heap of payment system. Seat belts. Get buckled in nice and easy.

[02:27] Alright, we're at four-wheel drive. Let's lower this wheel just a tad.

[02:42] It just gets the job done though. It is just wildly capable.

[02:57] We've got our suspension adjustment down here. We want to put this into comfort. Ha-ha, nice.

[03:23] This stuff is beautiful, it's awesome.

[03:36] Oh, it just floats over all the bumps. That long wheelbase really helps with these bumps.

[04:12] Oh, that's incredible. Wow.

[04:33] So much power. Woo, got to fully commit to that.

[04:48] Woo, got to fully commit to that. Ha-ha.

[05:09] I should mention, we are communicating right now on the Cardo Pound Top Edge Transponder. It's in our helmets. We've got a microphone, a speaker to listen to each other.

[05:21] And it's got pretty decent range, too, so we can get far away from each other. We'd still be able to hear each other when I move to already feeling that there. The signal activated.

[05:34] You can connect as many of these together as your heart desires. Cardo's made products for motorcycles for a long time, and they're starting to expand into off road vehicles.

[05:48] They've been really useful on this trip today. They're on the sponsor for today's video. So if you're interested in a pair, be sure to use the affiliate link in the description. We're going to do a little bit more tighter, technical driving here.

[06:02] Let a couple of climbs. We'll see how smooth this DCT is in rockfall situations.

[06:23] Comfort suspension is great, so we're going to close the gearbox.

[06:42] The driving position in this maverick is a little bit odd. You're really far away from the pedals, but at least the steering wheel til it's a telescope. You can have some adjustment that way.

[07:11] I wish I had some side mirrors.

[07:41] I don't have the best overhead visibility here, like I didn't have to wear this.

[08:01] There's a front camera and a rear camera. We'll engage that front camera so we can see. All the power is in any situation.

[08:32] Nice. Oh, great view.

[08:44] Wow, what a view. Pretty awesome.

[09:01] Oh, great view.

[09:31] Oh, great view.

[10:01] Oh, great view.

[10:31] Oh, great view.

[11:02] It's insane the difference in speed you can carry through these trails compared to a passenger vehicle.

[11:24] Just straightening the line, just the runs. Well, let's test out for your motor as well.

[11:41] Put in the neutral, low, and then drive. Then we'll drive mode and it will just do normal.

[11:55] Then we'll put our suspension into comfort. Great, diff lock. Pull it back forward trail.

[12:08] Yeah, we don't need a front diff lock. We'll lock that through. Better front camera engaged.

[12:25] Oh, it's great. Charlie, what he's doing is taking his own line over there to get some gravel.

[12:52] That's pretty impressive.

[13:05] I can't really see much with this camera, but I think this is where I'm supposed to go.

[13:25] Well, there we go. That's about right.

[13:55] So, yes, here we were driving through this, and a Raptor R and a 400-terty pro. It's amazing how you just hold those over everything inside my side and the higher speeds.

[14:20] It's going to be cocked as if you're at the longer wheelbase. You're going to switch out the low.

[14:50] That's nice.

[15:20] Hey, let's go around a bit.

[15:49] All right, we're making our way down into half the canyon on the Mojave trail.

[16:18] I'm going to do my best to take a different line than Charlie, so I don't need his dust the whole time.

[16:48] All right.

[17:18] All right.

[17:49] All right. All right.

[18:08] All right.

[18:38] We're going to fly around with this two-wheel drive.

[18:57] All right.

[19:27] Oh, there's a GX470 up there.

[19:51] Very cool. This is Spooky Canyon. Nice little hike. We're going to headlamp and you don't have anything in your hands because you're going to climb up some ropes.

[20:17] We're going to rally in here.

[20:42] Oh, you just got my low wheel life.

[21:03] This is just insane. It's so good. It's awesome. It's awesome. The wheelbase is nice and long, so you can get a lot of opportunities to grab the oversteer.

[21:16] We're going to the two-wheel drive right now. Absolutely. It's amazing. This one up in the rocks seems like water and speed to get into the cabin too badly.

[21:37] We might land.

[22:06] We'll wait for Charlie here.

[22:25] We're going to headlamp. We're going to headlamp.

[22:45] It takes a little bit of thinking out of the equation.

[23:13] But nothing else really performs this way. It doesn't have the drone of a naturally aspirated engine and CVT. The seven speed dual clutch is super smooth, shifts great. And the power level is just all you can want for a machine like this.

[23:30] Beyond the way it drives, I just love the way this thing looks. It has probably the most aggressive stance of any side by side I've seen. And in this four-door configuration, it just has crazy crazy curve appeal and presence.

[23:42] Anyway, hopefully you guys enjoyed that video. Had an awesome weekend out here with daily motor and miles per hour at the racer vehicle recreation area. Check out some of the other videos we filmed on the G-Wagon, the Raptor R, Kawasaki, and the Honda Talon.

[24:01] That'll be it for me. Thanks for watching. I'll see you guys in the next one. Take care.
