Anime Permanently Removed Without Warning - Crunchyroll Killed Them

[00:01] anime anywhere because Crunchyroll has now delisted it off their platform. And title to these gorgeous assets, it is called Grimgar. Very good series that and I highly recommend reading the light novel if you are interested in love in

[00:18] watch it. But with that being said, Crunchyroll decided to shadow delist a bunch of anime late last night, and here is the damage: Barakamon, Blood Blockade Battlefront, Orange, Grimgar, which I just talked about, Rokka and Asuka God

[00:33] Wills. And this follows after the recent removal of Black Lagoon. And prior to that, literally within like 12 to 14 hours prior to the Black Lagoon removal, they decided to gel and lock their Crunchyroll store that sells physical

[00:46] merchandise, Blu-rays, DVDs, figures, etc. behind a paywall of $14. So, if you the lowest tier subscription of $10 a month, basically you can't even access the Crunchyroll store to buy a physical copy of these type of series to be able

[01:01] upcharge yourself by another four to five dollars just to be able to buy a copy with shipping and everything included, which is absolutely insane. But accompanying all this that I just briefly mentioned with the recent rumors

[01:14] just going to say is definitely happening by the way, where Crunchyroll off their platform. When I say physical media, I'm not talking about figures and stuff. I'm talking about disc, Blu-ray,

[01:27] DVDs, stuff like that. There is rumors circulating that is, like I said, very credible. I'm just going to say it. And um they are going to be removing physical media. So, they're not just delisting these series off their

[01:40] can't even buy them physically on their platform anymore. Now, obviously there is work away or workarounds around this, and obviously piracy is the big one. But workarounds, the current legal workarounds is going to Amazon or

[01:54] something and purchasing a copy. But I want to fundamentally indicate something that's very important about this, okay? Sony is basically a monopoly. They they own a monopoly on most of the merchandise that floods in from Japan,

[02:08] but most. For instance, they own Aniplex for a very good example, and they also own Crunchyroll. So, basically, they have most of the flow of all the anime content and manga content that kind of come into the United States and the

[02:22] West. NOT 100%, BUT LIKE I said, vast majority. Which is the danger that I've been talking about for literally years now of the danger that Sony represents to anime itself because they have such a mass monopoly. And there's really, at

[02:37] against them besides, obviously, governmental intervention, telling them you cannot do it this anymore. But, because anime is such a very niche focused on and seen as a problem at the moment. But, let's get back into the

[02:51] main point. The point here is is that you have Sony recently making an are going to be phasing out game disc have PlayStation game disc at all going in like 2027, 2028, and obviously, this

[03:06] has caused a lot of backlash and everything that can honestly be its own charge of Crunchyroll, and with the recent stuff that's being rumored around is going to be ceasing production, it honestly it just it lines up

[03:20] perfectly well. But, you throw this in the fact that this recent stuff of removal of everything, it also lines up with what happened prior to the Sony announcement. For those that do not know, when Sony announced they were

[03:33] going to be removing game disc and stuff like that, a few days prior to that, and stuff that were just removed from people's catalogs. Like, if you had a digital library of a bunch of movies you had on your PlayStation account, they

[03:46] lost money, which caused a lot of backlash. And then they did that and it pissed a lot of people off. And that's pretty much what's going on here. What's being basically presented is the exact same thing that Sony has been

[04:00] doing with PlayStation and movies and stuff. So, it is just a repeated thing. We we are literally seeing this but in the anime sector when it comes to the content in general. And this is just This is why people pirate. This is why

[04:14] piracy is a service issue and why piracy will never die because when you remove stuff from people, you take it from them, you imply that they own it, but in reality they don't, people are going to be very upset and they're just going to

[04:29] go to piracy. I want to be honest with you. I do not like Crunchyroll at all. I fact that they're doing these type of moves is just so anti-consumer. It is entire time. They are literally putting their hand in your wallet, pulling your

[04:45] cash out, and then when you look to say, "Oh, you took my cash, so I obviously you can have a license to be able to use time. That's another $14, please." They

[04:57] are literally constantly just ripping money out of your wallet and they're not even allowing you to own anything. It's just so disrespectful and this company is just so shady, honestly. It's such a shady company that I legitimately just

[05:12] I I I honestly I hope for Crunchyroll's downfall. I really do. I don't think it will fully happen for a very long time, but I do because this company is just so ass, man. Like, what do you mean you do stuff like this, remove even more series

[05:26] from your platform, you don't even let people know, it's just shadow removal. And it's just like just so disrespectful, man. I mean, Barakamon, a of Fantasy and Ash, it's just like, dude, it's just

[05:41] people can't legally watch this anymore, they're going to just go to piracy. And but then these same companies will complain about anime piracy and be like, series?" Like, this is why. Honestly, rather deal with
