[00:13] preview for an upcoming solo leveling movie, an episode produced by the produced by the greatest anime studio, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Let's go over all of it. Welcome back to yet another episode of This Month in Anime.

[00:56] button. Dear God, it's beautiful. Let's kick things off by going over some of the many new trailers we got over the past couple of weeks or so. Starting with Black Clover season 2. And it feels

[01:08] looks good. Now, I know that's a bit disingenuous because the TV anime had more than serviceable, but you know what I mean. I hope. Now, Black Clover has always been an unfortunate production. Despite featuring one of the most

[01:23] Tatsuya Yoshihara, doing everything in his power and a whole generation of promising new animators getting their start on it, the show simply didn't look long-running anime riddled with

[01:36] outsourcing, it's not exactly a surprise that even the most high-profile episodes happens when a show tries to be ambitious despite its production conditions instead of because of them. Anyway, sad slop aside, the movie was

[01:50] about it in detail before, but then again, it was a movie and it's not like how Black Clover with the anime will fare moving forward will be the upcoming season. And based on the most recent trailer for it, I think we'll be fine.

[02:04] time, the two things that [music] immediately caught my eye were the Historically, Black Clover has struggled with both those aspects before, so it was nice to see some wells supervised drawings and competent compositing. Of

[02:17] solid, too. But that's not exactly surprising given the history of the project. It was the photography and drawing quality that stood out to me the most. I do have a complaint though about the trailer, that being the art

[02:29] direction. It's another aspect Black Clover has historically and famously a substantial improvement, some of the backgrounds simply don't look good in my opinion. The excessive amount of detail and texturing makes the backdrops look

[02:42] cluttered and overly busy, especially in motion, and causes them to clash with thing in the world, but definitely can be better. Anyway, long story short, DLDDR whatever a pretty cool trailer, a

[02:54] substantial improvement on all fronts. Can't wait for the actual thing. We also got a new trailer for Bleach Thousand Blood War season 4. And while there's no because the actual thing is just 2 weeks away, I'll spend a few minutes yapping

[03:08] about it anyway because why not? So, as I'm sure all of you are aware, the meaning the team will probably go all right? In my opinion, season 1 is the strongest season of this show so far

[03:21] with episode 6 being the best from it. And I hope this season outdoes it, or at least tries to. More about the trailer, it was packed with insanely impressive animation. We had snappy, highly dynamic action, very cool storyboarding,

[03:34] tremendous drawings. It looked really cool. Of course, as I've said countless some of the photography choices, especially those around the effects animation, but it is what it is at this point. I'll save that stuff for when I

[03:46] trailer though, lots of impressive shots. Moving on, let's talk about the new trailer for the One Piece, aka the Wit Studio produced remake of, well, One Piece because what else would it be a remake of? So, look, I think the show

[04:01] larger than life feel they're going for. I think it works given the source material, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I think it looks fine, but it's just a bit boring, isn't it? It's not

[04:14] bad. It's just a bit bland. It's artistically predictable. It's basically standard One Piece, but viewed through a modern lens, which yes, that was the expect a bit more given the sheer amount of extremely creative people involved.

[04:28] Hell, the core team behind it is the OG Attack on Titan Squad. I just I can't help but expect a bit more. Of course, it is probably a bit too early to judge. Maybe the trailer was one big fake out. Who knows? But hey, we'll see, I guess.

[04:41] with the excessive CG use in the trailer, but I personally don't have a for a larger than life feel, and the CG helps with that regardless of how clunky the character models might be. We also got a new trailer for an upcoming solo

[04:55] leveling movie, Solo Leveling: Beyond the System. And while it was just a concept video, I think it's visually interesting enough to warrant a mention. First off, the thing that immediately stands out about the trailer is, well,

[05:07] everything. Every single shot appears to feature what is either raw liveaction footage or photorealistic CGI, when I'm not entirely sure what it is exactly. obviously some live action influence. There are location scouts and drone

[05:20] operators credited and even the CG team is credited under the liveaction banner. So, they didn't model those backgrounds from scratch using CGI. I'm reasonably exactly sure what they did because I'm

[05:32] any of you know more than I do, feel free to leave a comment. Anyway, the trailer also featured some 2D animation and it looked incredible. Every single 2D shot was personally animated by the character designer of the showtookudo

[05:46] himself. And naturally, his drawings were absolutely flawless. A really cool project all around. Of course, this is effectively just concept art. The actual movie won't look like this, but a part of me hopes it does. I would love to see

[05:58] somewhat kizu monogary like look. I think that's a cool idea. Cyberpunkers time. We got a brand new trailer for Cyberpunk Edgeunner season 2. And to the surprise of absolutely no one, it looked stellar. The season is

[06:12] Karashi with Ichigokano handling the character designs. They're replacing the Yoshinari respectively. And you can just feel the Ikarashi energy radiating from energetic movement, the compositions, it's amazing. I don't know how good the

[06:28] story will be since most of the original cast is dead and there's a new squad in town, but at the very least, we know the visuals will be topnotch. Fantastic stuff. And finally, let's talk about the new Mahya trailer for a second. The new

[06:41] Mahaho trailer, God, I [ __ ] hate Anniplex. The new Mahyo trailer. This new trailer of ours contained, if I'm not mistaken, a whopping 2 seconds of new footage. Two whole seconds as Mahoyo fans are feasting this week, aren't we?

[06:55] idea it was to milk those same 15 shots for 2 years straight, but no amount of talkshit marketing can lower my excitement for this project. The idea of themselves and working on a full-length Tycoon project for the first time in

[07:09] over 6 years is simply too attractive. They announced that the movie will come out this November. And I cannot wait. Insane stuff. And that's it for the trailers. Let's now quickly and in rapid fire fashion go

[07:21] over some of the more interesting first episodes from the ongoing summer season. shows that are worth keeping an eye on for one reason or another. Let's jump right into it. The exiled heavy knight knows how to game the system. May

[07:34] Gohan's produce 12 visual mess that's actually quite fun. Unfortunately, don't masterpiece or whatever, but it is fairly entertaining. The plot is very don't know, there's just something inexplicably entertaining about it.

[07:49] Also, of course, the visuals are absolutely batshit [ __ ] insane in a so bad it's good way. It's PR Gohan's lunacy. You'll love to see it. We also have Sparks of Tomorrow, a project, home to some of the most insane art direction

[08:02] you'll ever see in a TV anime or any anime for that matter. Utterly insane. I'll probably talk about it in detail at some point, so let's not go on about it too. I like the overall steampunk aesthetic. Plus, there seems to be a

[08:15] touch of Makoto coded romance sprinkled in here and there. Quite fun. Up next, Jatari, which in Mongolia are two gorgeous shows worth checking out given course, both can be good writing-wise, [music]

[08:29] both have potential, but they haven't blown me away so far. The Ghost in the because I'm used to Mamuru Roshi's interpretation, and I'm trying to keep an open mind, but I can't help but compare the two subconsciously, and when

[08:41] I do, Oshi's version comes out on top quite easily. And as for Jadukur, the tone is very interesting, but the plot hasn't exactly blown me away, which is a given because the first two episodes were basically one big setup. We also

[08:54] have Black Torch, the most battle shonen battle shownen to ever battle shownen. protagonist who lives with his grandfather. One day, he meets someone and ends up fighting a monster to save them, nearly dying in the process, only

[09:08] and use that strength to defeat said monster. Oh, wait. Was I using the wrong embarrassing. But I hope you get the point. I know Black Touch came out before JJK, by the way, Put Your Pitch Fox Down. It was just a silly joke meant

[09:22] to demonstrate how cliched the plot is. Don't think too much about it. The show battled shownen that I can't help but find it endearing. Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky, a slowburn romantic drama with a cast that feels real for

[09:37] lack of a better term. They don't feel like character archetypes, which to me is refreshing. The World is Dancing, a very good-looking show with breathtaking dance performances that can only be described as the pinnacle of 2D artistry

[09:50] insufferable protagonists you'll ever see. You can't have your cake and eat it too, I guess. Goodbye Lara. Yet another visual spectacle with a unique look. That's it. I wasn't exactly blown away by the plot. Growup show Sunflower

[10:05] things formula, but coupled with some well animated acrobatics. Quite fun. And finally, the last, but certainly not the least, we have Iron Walk Jan. An extremely over-the-top, in-your-face, slightly outdated shownen cooking anime

[10:20] towards. I don't know, that's just boisterousness that I really love. It's a lot of fun to watch. And that's it. Just a quick recap because why not? Thanks for watching. A special thanks to
