It covers the protagonist Dylan's journey, the antagonist Hedron, and the ambiguous fate of his sister Jessie, while also theorizing about the game's unresolved mysteries.

[00:00]
Introduction to Control Resonance's Ending

The video begins by acknowledging the mind-bending nature of Control's ending and promises to explain the sequel's more straightforward but still complex ending, including background from the first game.

[00:46]
Background on the Original Control

Recaps the first game: Jessie Faden arrives at the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) to find her brother Dylan, becomes director by binding the Service Weapon, and battles the Hiss invasion.

[01:37]
Control Resonance's Opening

The sequel starts with Jessie stabbing Dylan and vanishing, ending the lockdown on the Oldest House and allowing the Hiss to escape. Dylan spends the game chasing Jessie through interdimensional rifts.

[02:12]
Emily Pope's Role

Emily Pope, now acting director, believes Jessie may be dead but keeps experimenting to prove she's alive, hoping to confess her romantic feelings. Her experiments point to Jessie being inside the Hedron.

[02:49]
The Hedron's Threat

The Hedron, a paranatural entity, is using the Oldest House as a place of power to grow stronger, threatening to destroy reality. Dylan helps set up probes that reveal the fault is centered on the Oldest House.

[03:36]
Dylan's Traumatic Past

Dylan confronts his past as a Prime Candidate, subjected to abuse by Dr. Donovan to train him as the next director. This trauma makes him a perfect vessel for the Hiss, which infects his mind.

[04:16]
The Rift and the Hedron's Breach

Dylan tries to close the rift but is stopped by the Hiss inside him, allowing the Hedron to tear open reality, creating the Unknown zone where physics and storytelling break down.

[04:44]
The 16-Bit Retro Sequence

The Hedron warps Dylan's perception into a surreal 16-bit world, a tribute to the Mother series, revealing childhood secrets about Jessie and Dylan, including the slide projector and the entity Not Mother.

[05:11]
The Slide Projector and Not Mother

In 2002, Jessie and Dylan used a slide projector to travel to dimensions, but one slide brought Not Mother, a being that turned children into murderous beasts. Only Jessie and Dylan survived, protected by the Hedron (Polaris).

[05:59]
The FBC's Involvement

The FBC investigated the town's deaths, but Jessie burned most slides. One remained, and after going through it, Trench was infected with the Hiss, leading to Dylan's kidnapping and 17 years of training.

[06:28]
Final Showdown and Dylan's Sacrifice

Dylan faces the Hedron, tears out the MCD device in his neck, embraces the Hiss, and uses it to destroy the Hedron, but it costs him his life. Jessie appears and switches places with him, seemingly sacrificing herself.

[07:32]
Epilogue: Jessie's Fate

In the epilogue, Jessie is not dead but unresponsive, in a coma-like state. The Board still recognizes her as director, leaving her fate ambiguous and open for future games.

The video concludes that Control Resonance's ending leaves Jessie's fate intentionally ambiguous, with the Board still recognizing her as director, suggesting she may wake up in the future. The world of Control allows for endless possibilities, setting up potential sequels.

[00:00] Have you ever played a game with an ending that's so wild, so mind-bending, that it's left you questioning reality itself? Remedy Entertainment's Control is that game. Its sequel, Control Resonance, is a lot more straightforward, but there are a few things that you might have missed.

[00:16] To save you from befuddlement, I've studied Control Resonance's ending, the stories that lead up to it, and everything you need to know from the first game to make sense of it all. While a few things are left intentionally vague, I'll pull them out and theorize what they could mean.

[00:31] Now, I shouldn't need to say this, but if you've somehow accidentally stumbled onto this video, this is your warning. I will be talking about the ending of Control Resonance and spoiling a lot.

[00:46] First up, some quick background from the original Control. It's been seven years since the first game. game. To understand the ending of Control Resonance, you'll need to know who Jessie Staden, the protagonist in the first Control game, is. In Control, she arrives at the headquarters

[01:04] of the Federal Bureau of Control, the oldest house, searching for her missing brother, Dylan. Shortly after arriving, she unexpectedly becomes the Bureau's new director after picking up and binding the service weapon, an object of power. As the story unfolds, you play as

[01:21] as Jessie, exploring the mysterious buildings, battling the supernatural Hiss invasion, and uncovering the truth about her past and her connection to the paranormal events at the Bureau. In Control Resonance, you play as her long-lost brother, Dylan. But it's not

[01:37] the heartwarming family reunion you might be expecting. It all kicks off with Jessie stabbing Dylan, and then vanishing without a trace. This ends the lockdown on the oldest house, allowing the Hiss to escape into the world. You spend most of the game chasing

[01:54] Jessie through a series of interdimensional rifts Is she trapped Is she dead Nobody really knows for sure Enter Emily Pope a recurring character in the game Control In the first Control she a research scientist working at the Federal Bureau of Control

[02:12] Now, she's the acting director and head of research in Jesse's absence. For the last third or so of the game, Emily and Dylan are beginning to confront the idea that not only is Jesse not coming back,

[02:24] but she may also be dead. But, undeterred, Emily keeps coming up with new experiments to prove Jesse is alive so she can confess her romantic feelings. But then, things go off the rails.

[02:37] Emily's experiments and Dylan's experiences in the vault all point to Jesse being inside the Hedron, a paranatural entity locked in an endless wall with the Hiss.

[02:49] Manhattan is under attack, reality is breaking down, and we're caught in the crossfire. The consequences of this war are laid bare in the Underpass, a zone where everything is beginning to pattern, including time itself, trapping an investigation team and eventually

[03:06] Dylan in a time leap. To get more information, Dylan helps Emery set up transition probes that point to one final fault. The bad news? That fault is centered on the oldest house, and it looks like the Hedgehog is using its

[03:21] value as a place of power to get stronger. In fact, it's threatening to get so strong that it could pass him everything, effectively destroying reality. A journey through the oldest house forces Dylan to confront his traumatic prime candidate training,

[03:36] which is essentially SBC-sanctured abuse that Dr. Donovan, the charming head of research from the first game, inflicted on Dylan from ten years old to train him to be the next director.

[03:48] More on that in a minute. This training turns Dylan into a broken man, making him the perfect vessel for the Hiss. The Hiss infects his mind and turns him into a beacon from which they erupt.

[04:00] We see this happen in Control Clearly feeling guilty for his part in the events of Control and Control Regiment Dylan fights the oldest house fault and tries to help his sister close the rift But Reggie Storman inside him takes control at the very last moment, clearly aggravated by the presence

[04:16] of the Hedron. He's forced to stop, and the rift stays open. And even worse, it lets the Hedron slip through and tear open reality itself. This breach becomes the Dune's final

[04:30] zone. Unknown. A place where the laws of physics and storytelling barely apply. To stop the hedge one, Dylan must destroy its links to reality. But doing so only makes it angrier.

[04:44] It attacks and warps Dylan's perception, plunging us into this amazing, surreal 16-bit world. A very fun tribute to the Mother series. Here, more secrets about Dylan and Jessie's childhood

[04:57] had come to light, including how Jesse survived in secret all this time. In this retro sequence, we flash back to 2002, where Jesse and Dylan find the slide projector, which lets them travel to different dimensions.

[05:11] This leads to a lot of deaths in their hometown of ordinary Maine. Jesse and Dylan, kids being kids, try out different slides, but one of them seems to have something terrible. Not Mother. not mother

[05:23] is a thing that turns children into murderous beasts it seems to be born out of the Jungian cultural consciousness the kids told folklore about it but the slide projector

[05:35] made it real it's a bloodbath these kids kill their friends and their parents and eventually each other the only exceptions are Jesse and Dylan who are protected by a hedron they call Polaris

[05:47] now a whole town dying mysteriously is pretty weird so the SBC are alerted. They find the altered item and go through the slide projector to start their investigation. But it turns out

[05:59] Jessie has burned all the slides before the FBC gets there. Bad news, she missed one one slide remains As they jump in Trank is infected with his and after coming back they kidnap Dylan like they would argue that it not kidnapping

[06:15] but who really trusts the US government but for the next 17 years Dylan is forced to train to become the next director after this dreamlike sequence it's time for the final showdown Dylan faces the Hedge one

[06:28] but the entity tries to take control of his mind in one final desperate act Dylan tears out the MCD a device planted into his neck that shocks his brain

[06:40] and he feels is limiting him and letting the Hedron win instead he embraces the Hiss dormant within him releases it under his control and uses it to destroy

[06:53] the Hedron for good but because it's already in his mind it costs him his life as Dylan dies Jessie appears she accesses the gap the liminal space between dimensions

[07:06] where Dylan has been communicating with the board storing the hiss and now fighting the headlong through a dimensional fault or maybe the side projector it's less ambiguous seeing her brother dead

[07:18] Jessie uses the bond they've developed by closing all the faults to switch places with him seemingly sacrificing her life to save his but in the epilogue

[07:32] we learn that Jessie isn't dead. She's unresponsive, trapped in seemingly a coma, but her portrait is still hanging throughout the older's house. We just don't...

[07:44] We don't know what that means yet. Seemingly, the board still recognize her as the director, and they wouldn't do that if she was dead. They move on to her very quickly after Trench died,

[07:56] and they don't seem to be the sentimental type. So, will Jessie ever wake up? Nobody loses hanging. All we know is this. In the world of controls, anything is possible.
